Has anyone else noticed that Garry Monk is an anagram of Marry Kong?

BW. There's so many letters in your name I bet we could come up with some great anagrams. I might try tomorrow if I have a spare 5 minutes

Bristol Rovers Matty Taylor mooted as a possible replacement if Woody goes. He has netted 15 times so far this season in League 1, is 26 and hobbies include scoring goals and celebrating. Why not snap him up and keep Woody?

Believable1 Unbelievable1

17 Jan 2017 22:35:41
I had seen us looking at him Alf but it was def as backup for Wood not a replacement. If we lose Wood for £15m we would surely have to chase Rhodes or someone of that sort of proven calibre otherwise its stupid to sell.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jan 2017 09:56:01
It would be madness to sell Wood at this stage of the season and we should be looking to bring in backup to Wood rather than having new strikers who will need to get used to the players, tactics, playing at Elland Road etc.

Agree1 Disagree0

18 Jan 2017 13:04:07
Where's all this talk of Woody leaving come from? If GM's not going to sell Taylor why on earth would the possibility of Woody being sold come up?

Agree1 Disagree0

18 Jan 2017 13:52:29
PL clubs have been sniffing around and the club have put a £15m price tag on him - that suggests if someone comes up with the dough we'd consider selling. Personally, i think that would be madness as he is a key part of a promotion push that is very much alive.

Agree0 Disagree1

18 Jan 2017 16:19:38
Gutter press made up a story about him being available for £15m and some fans are now panicking. He isn't for sale.

3 unnamed triallists played in a friendly today. A keeper and 2 central defenders.

Is Shaun Harvey in charge of appointing match referees now? Just a thought.

Yep, I noticed that as well, not good enough for the prem, but Mr Dean is ok to ref a Leeds game ! ! ! !

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jan 2017 13:53:28
Leeds games are easier to ref - you just give all the decisions to the other team

Not to moan, but it's disappointing if the only players we're looking at are Canos and Fletcher. Surely we're looking at other options too? I get the feeling we won't make any moves until Pontus is tied up after Forest game, but we definitely need a LW and back up striker.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

17 Jan 2017 17:51:48
SG. I wouldn't assume the players we are actually looking at are necessarily the ones been slagged around the media. The Monk Meister is canny at keeping schtum until the deal is done

He kept so many of our summer signings quiet until a couple of days before, some unannounced until last minute, which is why I still have optimism. January tends to be a last minute and emergency buy window, to boost and reinforce where squads have been damaged or need strengthening. I'm starting to think we need to forget newer and bigger names to what we have already as we just need depth in a few areas. Winnall would have been great for us IMO. I don't really care about who we sign as long as they don't disrupt the flow, but monkey magic will know that before he brings anybody in. MOT

17 Jan 2017 18:21:11
also look at our great squad doing well with so many out, with everyone fit do we really need anyone, hard to get a back up striker maybe wilks might be the lad? and options everywhere else maybe unless the right guy turns up (which might not be easy or cheap to find) monk would rather stick with what he has?

Agree0 Disagree1

17 Jan 2017 18:46:45
Bermo, LW is by far our weakest link and we have no replacement for Wood, so we do need a couple in. The good thing is Brighton, Reading and Wendies have all made big losses so won't be spending much and Hudds don't have the money either. None of those four have had injuries yet either like we have had.

I think we just need to wait and see what happens. the main thing was getting Pontus, Pablo and monk signed up, they all seem to be done or in the pipe line. would have loved Bartley and sakho too, but I'm sure monk won't give them up without a fight! As people have said they'll be stuff going on we don't know about and if and when things happen they aren't superstars then I'm sure that given the opportunity at Leeds they will be. prime example bring ayling. i hadn't even heard of him when he signed! Monk, mass and I'm hoping radza know what they are doing. don't panic and let them work their magic. that combo haven't let us down before and they won't start now.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jan 2017 21:38:58
Not bothered about Sakho - I've not been overly impressed by him this season so far

17 Jan 2017 22:41:18
Canos could be a really good bit of business, did really well on loan at Brentford and he is only 19. Also although we are weakest at LW we have a couple of players that can play there. If Roofe is going to understudy Hernandez in AM then the most important thing is to bring in a ST and a CB as we are so short of bodies in those areas. Fletcher I'm not so bothered about though.

Its all gone quiet at Elland Road, maybe the prelim to an anouncement and from past experience. It will be a name totally off the radar. Spotted and stealthily tracked by the Monk and his men. Exciting times.

Three trialists in the U23 squad for the game today (Literally refered to as Trialist A, Trialist B and Trialist C) . Looks like a Keeper and 2 CB's from where they come up on the team sheet (A is def a Keeper, supposedly made some good stops) , don't suppose anyone has any ideas on who any of them might be?

Cant be Turnbull Speedy, didn't injure himself and go off after 30 mins, also not Rachubka because he only conceded the 1. Paddy Kenny could finally have eaten enough pies to make it hard for the ball to go past him though SG . We know it wasnt you Berm, wasnt a clean sheet.

Watford signing for gradel for only £3m! guessing the wages would stop us, but that's really cheap!

Believable0 Unbelievable1

17 Jan 2017 13:53:45
has had a bad injury though is he the same player, if so this is a great buy.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jan 2017 14:32:46
If true I'm going to guess its £3m up front with a load of add on clauses that take it up to a proper fee Curahee. He would surely have a lot better offers if he was available for £3m all in, his wage won't be huge at Bournemouth so its unlikely to put most clubs at a decent level off.

17 Jan 2017 15:53:29
Suppose gummie, that is a good point about the add ons

17 Jan 2017 16:15:54
Has anyone actually seen gradel play over the last two seasons? Seems a lot of rose coloured glasses around. yes he was pretty decent for us in league 1 but now? I think we have and could get better if Watford want to shell out 3mill on him then good luck!

17 Jan 2017 16:47:30
£3M for a 29 year old injury prone player isn't a bargain at all. Too many have rose tinted specs from 6/7 years ago still on, he hasn't been the same player since he left us.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jan 2017 21:13:50
Spending £3m on a player when you're in the prem isn't a gamble, could be a shrewd bit of business. But it's definitely a massive gamble for a championship club.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jan 2017 22:48:51
To be fair SG Gradel isn't really injury prone, has only had 4 since his Lg1 days, just that 2 of them have been longer term. As for quality Trev I have seen some of his games, when fit he is a long, long way clear of Sacko and Dallas, should be pointed out he was 17 in 31 the season before joining Bournemouth and was a first team mainstay for them before getting injured last year.

Agree1 Disagree0

18 Jan 2017 07:56:25
Gradel was great for us and was great for st etienne. However since his ACL ruptures ( he's had two I believe) he's not had that turn of direction/speed that comes with the injury. I wouldn't spend £3m on a crock. Bournemouth were stupid to pay £7m for him with his history. I would have him back at Leeds on a loan or free one year rolling deal.

4 goals, 2 assists in 28 games, 21 of those starts, hardly setting Lg1 alight, must be playing ok though if he is starting that many whilst so goal shy? Did see a rumour that Monk wanted to recall him with the plan to send him back out on loan to his old club up north though so might be his team just not providing many goal scoring chances rather than him not taking them.
