So if the reports of Kalvin Phillips being ready to sign a new three (yes three) year deal are true, how does this work out with a few posters on here claiming that youngsters shouldn't be offered deals above two years? It's either going back on club policy or does Cellino rate Phillips more than Cook, Taylor, Mowatt, Peacock etc etc? Or, maybe the penny is dropping and the club see that they can't let players run their contracts down like so many have done in recent years.

Think you'll find all to do with money. KP hardly set world alight so probably agreed to 5k a week. Why would he move? Who else would want him? Who will pay him more?

Taylor on other hand is a classy LB who has the attention of PL clubs who finished in the 6th to mid-table range who will probably offer him 25k a week compared to our best offer of probably no more than 10k per week.

Must be real tempting for Taylor to stay. To play for sanity Cellino with all of his investment in super new players vying for a PL playoff spot. Compared to the stability of a Liverpool or Stoke with a guaranteed starting place because there's no question he is a future England player.

Yes George I agree but a lot of people on here posted about 'potential' in young players and said they might not make it. If Phillips isn't that highly rated as you've suggested then why give him a three year deal even if only only on £5k per week. Still the thick end of £800k after three years!

If Taylor is the real deal and we all know he is, why the feck isn't Cellino offering him £15k a week over three years? Better still why didn't we offer him a better deal only a year ago before Liverpool and Stoke started sniffing? It was obvious back then the boy had talent and would play in the premier league. He wasn't going to sign a four year deal and then all of a sudden morph into Wootton was he?

Now the big boys have shown an interest and he's got one year left, there's no way he will sign a new deal. He can't even be arsed to pick the phone up!

Phillips is rated highly at Leeds captain of development squad and captain of U18s Mick . George maybe doesn't rate him but people at Leeds obviously do.

Phillips is better than mowatt or murphy. Needs games and encouragement. But you are right once premier teams come sniffing heads will turn wether they are on 2 or 3 or4 year contracts it does not matter. We will get decent money for him either way and if he wants to go he will. that's what happens to good players they progress.

Not Leeds related but I need to confess. Just got back from a two day stay the wrong side of the Pennines seeing Stone Roses at The Emptyhad. Nice to see if full for a change! Been up all night scrubbing myself with bleach to get rid of the smell but I think it's too late. I've already developed the Manc Walk!
To make matters worse our hotel was in Salford in the view of OT. I think Mrs Mick booked that on purpose to p**s on my chips.
