Would be interested to know how many think that Smith is good enough to play as a lone striker in the team or whether we need him paired up with someone more nimble and creative, like McCormack.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

At the moment I don't see how we can play with him as a line striker. We don't really have any out and out wingers, or a proper central attacking midfielder? If he had 3 attacking players behind him backing him up then yes I think he could play up top by himself

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think he could play as a lone striker but I think he is perfect to play the middle of a top 3 MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

No Smiths first touch isn't good enough to play as a lone striker. MOT

I for one really like how don cellino is talking. He sounds like he has some passion for our great club and will work to put us back where we should be and keep us there. Up to 10 signings before the window shuts, WOW!

here we go,

not posted on ere in a long time but heres my 2 bobs worth,

theres a divide on twitter,

95%-for cellino and 5% against

i have no idea why this divde came about as we should all be united, for me so far I feel he has done a great job with the finances and a few decent signings so far, if he keeps to his word then there is a bright future for our great club. if he does not follow through there would be most probably the biggest backlash on an owner in our history after all the cut backs etc, I am very hopeful and optimistic for the side and I believe cellino will follow through on his word as he is a shrewd businessman and has run a football club well within budget for 20 years, he has a great scouting system and don't take no rubbish off players or other clubs, he did great getting the money for ross and if clubs want to come in for our players now they will have a fight on their hands.

i feel if he brings in the players and follows thru then elland rd will be rocking.

in regards to transfers i'm not ITK or claim to know anything other than twitter rumours etc but the player i'd love us to get is viviani from roma, looks class and a dead ball specialist which is something we need to provide smith and the attacking CBs,

anyways enough of this I am not a blog writer I tjust thought i'd gi my say, i'm not pro nor anti cellino, I want our club to succeed in every dept

MC seems to be doing all the right things, however is anyone else concerned that with all of the foreign young signing's we are currently doing or be linked with, our own very good young players may not be given a chance.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'm more concerned that we aren't signing anybody, despite being linked with just about every Italian and his dog.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed013's Note - I am sure Leeds have signed 4 players so far, make that 5 as the Right back from Sampdoria is confirmed}

English players are lazy overpaid and full of themselves . MC got players in that will know if they do well they get paid more, not sit around on big contracts happy warming the bench .Also Italian players more disciplined, don't go out on the beer, gamble and be big time Charlie's . Just Saying its maybe a good thing .

Agree0 Disagree0

I for one feel confident our club has an owner who means what he says and actually cares about the club and fans. Work in progress, get GFH out would be great.

Keep up the good work MC.

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe my post wasn't very clear when I said our own young players I mean't players that are already a Leeds player

been reading more, and more about The DON.
The Italian businessman Cellino, who completed his £35million buy-out in April, said he turned down "four big companies" he turned them down because he wants to be the one to take Leeds back into the top flight.

Cellino, who recently finalised a deal with Leeds' former owner Gulf Finance House to re-service the club's £24million debt, told the Yorkshire Evening Post:

"I didn't buy a big club here, I bought the biggest club in England. You understand?
"This club has been 12 years in the s**t but I have this chance to do something good.

Just proves we often thought we were some kind of pariah´s the untouchables, when the real reason was the big money boy´s were interested, but had not got the Ball´s to sort out the crap! MC did, He deserve more credit than we will ever realise. MC reiterated many times his passion for LUFC, not only in words, in deeds too. Dawn of a new era for LUFC, I believe he will SUCCEED all the way to the top. MOT

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He's saying all the right things - loving Cellino

2 quotes from MC have stood out to me recently:

"When you sign players, you can always raise the wage. You can never lower the wage. So if you trust yourself then trust me. I'm not going to take advantage"

and

"At Cagliari we looked at players from France, Sweden, Germany, Argentina and Brazil but most of them I didn't think were right to play in the Championship. Because here the players are like Vikings. They're going to kill the other guy! So I need to decide which players have the right skills but are also strong enough to play in England. This is high-level, physical football"

The first one obvioulsy potrays MC's view on the commercial side of signing players, the second on accepting the Championship as a tough league.

However I do wish he would stop going on about Cagliari, he isn't there anymore here is at Leeds.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He's been the owner of Cafliari for 20 odd years. what do you expect? MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

I know, just pointing it out, as BMD got grilled for mentioning Reading in every interview. And I think he spent his whole management carreer there. Not comparable in duration, but still.

Fair enough mate, but yeah I agree - two good comments.

MC has said Matt Smith is not for sale and has said expect up to 6 more signings in this transfer window.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Didn't he say Ross was not for sale too?
Not being negative but Stating what was said ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed013's Note - Ross wanted to leave. I would let any player that wants out to leave at the right price}

True ED I wouldn't want ANY player who didn't want to stay.
Just pointing out RMC was not for sale as per Matt Smith but things change everyday for different reasons.

What a fantastic interview from Mr Cellino, knows exactly what to do and say to inspire our passionate following. Sometimes prone to exageration but I love the passion, drive, self motivation commitment and belief. Many Leeds fans shirts will bear Cellino on the back can't remember too many paying the same homage to Bates and can't imagine too many sheep molesters with Tan on the back of their shirts

MC and Sallerno have stated in the past that the squad was to be largely based on a British spine with familaiar players, but its looking more and more likely that we will be made up of chaps from the continent.

I am not sure how I feel about but its a good discussion point. don't mind it so much, but would like to see the academy players given a chance.

At this stage, I envisage we will keep the following as our "Britich spine"

Pearce / Byram / Murphy / Mowatt / Morison / Smith / Poleon.

Another point is, if we are going to bring in another 5/6 players, then surely we will need to get rid of a few more. Top of my list are:

Hunt, Tonge, Norris (is he still there), Maybe Wootton

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Don't forget Austin he needs to go.

Whingers/Moaners/negativityarians lol

Not only is the number 17 unlucky for MC but also for the whingers/moaners/negative people.

On 17-07-2014 I read MCs statement and was available for everyone to read, ohhh how the anti MCs must have felt reading that article I don't know.

If you don't like MC you have to hold your hands up and say.

1. he's said MC/GFH not taking money out left right and centre as in the past (GFH at least £24mill in 15 months) I will protect LUFC from these people.
2. he's signing players on low wages but big bonuses (if they earn them) sounds to me like piece-work and should ensure effort/commitment.
3. he's got £15 mill of his own money for transfers, he also paid a few million (of his own money) as a first installment for the club.
4. he's seen TA is costing too much, why not look for a NEW site closer to ER and build a new one.
5. If he can get a mortgage for ER @ £600,000 a year instead of paying £1.6 mill as we are now he will do, he will use RMCs money to redevelop parts of ER.
If he can't get a mortgage Ross, s money will help buy ER.

MC is making a living out of our club, why shouldn't he he's putting the effort/work in and deserves it.
MC although I don't agree with everything your doing to our club can I say a big thank you for telling us how things are developing after 101 days in charge.
I hope your journey brings happy times for you and for ALL LUFC fans around the world WE BOTH deserve it ;)

He does not like #17.MH17 was tragically shot down on the 17th July. A very sad day for anyone connected with that flight, but MC would never have been on it. Thoughts and condolences to all.

{Ed013's Note - A really really sad day. No one deserves that, especially innocents travelling on their holidays. RIP}

The only thing I have a serious issue with is MC's stance on Thorpe Arch. No serious football club does not have a quality training ground (TA is quality). Quality doesn't come cheap but when TA is one of the foundation stones of the club it should be seen as a wise investment. When players come to look around the club before they sign, they always say that the training facilities were fantastic etc.
As for moving closer to Elland Road - Why? Surely it should be near where the players like to live (short commutes). TA is only 12 miles from the stadium, not 100!
Ideally, MC can negotiate a lower rent for TA and LUFC can continue to benefit from the excellent facilities on offer for players at all levels (juniors through to first team).

Agree0 Disagree0

If he believes he can build a better one that not only being comparable or better for less running costs per year why not.

i know he has not said the new one would be any better but he has not said it would be worse. He has a proven record of bringing youth through as he did in his last club. He understands what is needed.

We have no emotional attachment to TA so why not let it go.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bic
I agree TA is superb but is it worth what we are paying? It must be up well over £1mill with rent/wages/utilities etc

The biggest thing for me from the interview with MC
Is that his wife is moving to leeds from miami
And his daughter also moving to UK to study from nyc
That really shows the commitment to the club, no Monaco beard or dubai robes it's all leeds mot massimo

quote from MC regarding historic debt

24m was taken by leeds while GFH were owners and owed to GFH or associates

the new restructuring sees 50% of that wrote off imediatly with the other only payable when and if we get to the PL.

Said they did this because he would fight them in court for it after looking at the books. The agreed and cut the debt.

Good job MC

That article in YEP about Cellino first 101 days is a great read. I for one think Cellino is truly amazing for Leeds.

4 bids to buy MC out of Leeds in the last 40 days according to interview with the man himself with YEP.

Great to see MC say that he won't sell for 1billion, what passion and a great breath of fresh air and honesty that we have not seen for many a year at our great club.

I cannot wait for the new season, regardless of how many foreign players we have, I am totally re-energised by the way MC is going about his business.

Elland Rd back in our ownership by November as well, keep it coming MC.

Dont shoot the Sheriff Ed! In Cellino we trust. Just imagine all that squirming and angst that a successful Leeds will cause through the ranks of football and media, love it MOT

ED
I agree with you, seems pretty hard to believe 4 people would want to buy us in just over a month.
MC though is doing what NO other owner has done in a long long time (HES TALKING TO US)
I think the guy gets excited/passionate and exagerates a bit but how can you NOT like him! GFH trying to take him for £24m he's sorted them out, he could have said I will use RMCs money to buy players but he didn't he's using his OWN money.
Hes signing players on low wages but BIG bonuses if the earn it (wasnt this known as piece-work years ago)
Well done MC if you succeed or fail in the next few years I think WE as fans will get passion back on the field.

THANK YOU MC

Agree0 Disagree0

Low wages and bonouses is a brilliant piece of work. How many times do we feel players on x k per week don't put the work out. This is one way to make sure they do. Great vision and managment even to get players to agree to this. He could sell betamax to a digital age. Oh hell he did this with MC for 10.75m lol

Is there a ruling on the limit of foreign players on the pitch in the championship or is this to be coming in soon? anyone know :o)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed003's Note - Nope but I believe The FA have been in touch with Leeds Council and have bought the licensing rights for ice cream van rights }

18 Jul 2014 00:03:31
What's this obsession with buying English players? I want players who will improve the squad and take us to the next level, if they happen to be foreign, so be it. English players are overpriced anyway. I'd rather we just developed our own English players and had some quality talent brought in to complement then. Where did Warnock and his English journeymen get us?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

SG
I think MC is bringing in what he knows at the moment to stabilise the club.
Only my opinion but i'd say when Massimo/Salerno gets an eye into the english market we might see a few home based players signed.
If he bought uk players now it would be a BIG gamble as he's not clued up in uk yet ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jul 2014 23:16:01
Cellino on TO talking about how he offers less wages initially and then bonuses to players who play well - bout time imo. Also says 5/6 more to come in and most likely foreign as better value than overpriced Brita plus he knows more about foreigners than UK players at the moment. Looking for Vikings though who will be able to cope with the English game.

All sounds very positive to me and shows he clearly knows what he is doing.

Can't wait for the season to start - come on Leeds!

Cellino says in the interview tonight in YEP says that there will be 6-7 more players coming into Leeds one being vivianni if he decides to come to leeds with serie a teams also wanting him, also a bit about buying back Elland road by November. Things are massively looking up.

italian Emanuele Giulianelli journalist posted this

Federico Viviani, midfielder born 1992 owned by AS Roma and one of the greatest talents in Italian football, is close to become a Leeds player.

The other contender for Viviani, Verona, has chosen Greek midfielder Tachtsidis.

Nicola Salerno, Leeds director, confirmed: "We have good chances to take Viviani, but the deal isn't done yet".

Viviani's agent, Pocetta: "Leeds would is a very prestigious club for Federico".

Club are in for Berardi and Viviani.(hope we land these two would be a very big statement)

Will buy back ER by November either with straight cash or possibly mortgage(watch the boo boys latch onto that one)

Already in talks with Leeds city council about new training ground locations wants away from TA

big interview going out tomorrow lots to come out.

There are more rumors circulating that we are after Cardiff City centre-back Mark Hudson. I really hope it is not true because he does not fit the young or hungry description our President said he would be signing.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed003's Note - been there and done it in the championship though - can't have 11 kids and who's to say he still isn't hungry ? }

Spot on ED, need some leadership in the squad, can't all be young hungry & hung ho! Can't beat old heads in the mix and Hudson is a Pro.

Agree0 Disagree0

Whenever I have watched Hudson the over riding impression is of a hungry determined leader who will go through brick walls for the cause. He lacks pace but if he didn't we wouldn't have a chance of signing him
