I posted a while ago that Ross was not a Warnock player and I felt he would go.He is not a team player no way would he play any where but up front next year,He had a good year at Cardiff hull came in transfer request. One good year whith us wants a big wage increase,Ross is all out for him self.Warnock wants players who will battle go into the trenches for the team.Forget Beckford he's off the same mould. Dj cambell for me he will play wide up top on his own much better option than the other 2 IMO

This is what jermaine beckfords agent said according to their web site
The 28 year old was reportedly offered to Leeds twice last season according to chairman Ken Bates, with the outspoken chairman saying 'the club had moved on.
So maybe beckford might not come

Not up to mister, fit for the captains table birdseye. It all comes down to who warnock wants through the door, as results stop with sgt warnock. If he feels becks can do the job he needs, then becks will be coming home, to the best supported team in the world. WE ARE LEEDS!! mot4life

Not really a rumour I know but I wouldn't b to upset if we sold Ross for good money, though he scored a few on the season since warnock came his style of play doesn't look like its suited Ross and he's been poor, get some money for him and invest it back in with a forward, heard burnley are after him so wouldn't b to upset with a swap deal for pattinson, very lively forward in the keogh mode but more prolific

Macca was too lazy anyway and half the time looked like a telly tubby. We supported that lad when him and Billy boy couldn't hit a fu=king barn door for a full season. Just shows you how loyal we are and how much players over rate themselfs, with deluded wage demands. Now fu=k off macca, poor season for you next season, as you've always had a good season followed by a sh=t one. BYE,BYE MACCA,BYE,BYE SON,BYE,BYE MACCA, YOU NEVER SCORED FOR FUN. mot4life

We want palyers that wanna play for Leeds, if Ross is more interested in the money let him go!
Agree6
Disagree0
I don't have a problem with forwards being lazy some of the best have been and are ie Beckford but they have to score regular and like u say it's one good season followed by a s**t one! He probably knows that so he's trying to get as much as he can while his stocks high, can't blame him all of us would do it but from a fan point lets get rid and either get Beckford who we know will score 20 a season every season and probably 15 in prem or go for a new face all together
Ps ed great site both of these, on them every day, find the deluded ones funny and the serious ones good reading MOT
Agree4
Disagree1
It's not that Ross is more interested in money, it's his agent and his agent controls him. If Ross were to sign without his agent's consent he could be sued by the agent. Agents own players these days.
Agree2
Disagree0
They can change agents anytime they want, so he knows whats goin on, same with clayton. Just easier for them to hide behind them, as we never see the agent on the pitch. PAIR OF THEM CAN DO ONE!! mot5life
Agree5
Disagree0
Yeh totally agrees with the above, agents don't rule players and never will, they can b very persuasive with players but they would b nothing without a player! Players havent always had agents and could easily do without again, where would agents b without players? Phrase fly round s##t springs to mind

some people on this site need to get realistic as far as wages are concerend . no championship team can afford to pay wages of over £15,000 a week, unless, a- they have a wealthy owner putting his own money into the club , B- they have parachute payments from dropping out of the prem or C- they want to go bust. reading about we should be paying players 20 to 25 grand a week is tottaly unrealistic. garyd MOT

think we could get a completely new team and one with more of a chance of gaining promotion this season than the last.mccormack will go, clayton will go, aidy white will most likely go, all the rest of the dross will hopefully go, and if snoddy goes that should give us alot of money to play with if bates doesnt pocket the lot. i like snoddy a lot but with the amount we could sell him for i think we could get someone in with genuine pace and a good cross and with some good central mids i think snodgrass wouldnt be missed. lets face it bates aint going to splash out enough money unless we sell

Sold Delph and Howson for decent fees.. So if we get money for McCormack, Snodgrass (if a bid came in)and Clayton it doesn't necessarily mean the money will be spent on players.

The big difference now is Neil Warnock. He won't settle for being messed about. It's important not to forget that & just jump on the doom & gloom bandwagon this early.

Howson was a staggered deal up to 2 million. hardly a decent fee.

It was a decent fee bearing in mind he could have walked now (season end)for nothing.

Come on! Snodgrass is quality that is why clubs will pay millions for his signature, if he does go we WILL NOT be able to get the same quality player as a replacement without spending millions on a fee and 25-30k a week. Snodgrass must not go.

Warnock has some good coaches behind him though which Grayson didnt because snodin and miller were absolute jokes and caused injuries. How many times last season did you hear about injuries happening during training? Too many for my liking. And grayson didn't work hard enough on fitness either which warlock definitely does every season so warnock is better than Grayson but I must say that in 10 years time when Grayson is more experienced and has a good backroom staff then I would be more than happy to have him back at Elland Road

I agree Grayson shouldn't have been sacked but he has been and we need to move on. We should all give Warnock a chance and get behind him. We won't be relegated but I don't think promotion's going to be easy looking at the way things are going with players rejecting deals. Bates has a lot to answer for and there's some mid less optimism on this site. People calling players greedy when they're just asking for the going rate for the job they do. Not like they're making Rooney money is it?

I agree as does every Leeds fans that you would sell your left arm and still play for free for Leeds United. But alot of players are not Leeds fans and dont have that desire and are driven by money.
I also agree we need to bring in players that want to play for us, but they still need to have quality about them, and for quality you have to be willing to pay, especially if the player is weighing up their options and money to them is a factor.
Theoretically if Leeds and Scum had the same wage budget and we were still in the championship and we were after the same player, if scum valued his wages at 30K but Leeds at 100K he would choose the money despite the division of football they would be playing.

Why is it when ever a player wants to leave he is greedy, maybe he just has more ambitions then to play for a very average mid table championship side, maybe they can see we are so far away from the prem, that they are never going to get there with Leeds and they just want to test themselves higher up the league

remember Neil alluded to McCormack being a bit part player for next season, no wonder he won't sign a deal.

If all the rumours are ture about RM, what are other top players we are trying to sign going to think.
I posted after we lost Beckford that more would follow if we do not tie down our best players on longer deals. In my opinion the best players should be given 4 year deals then renew ever 2 years if they don't renew after 2 years they are then sold but not at knock down prices as we saw with Howson.
And Bates calls himself a business man, don't make me laugh.
Good luck Warnock, you going to need it. Bates out
Sir Phillip.

Can't force people to sign for 4 years to begin with. Can't then force another team to buy them from you for a decent price if they don't extend after two. Face it, every player in the championship wants to be playing at a higher level. As long as we are a championship club players will be trying to run down contracts and move up a level. It's not nice, but it is how football works these days.

Just a question for anybody who can help, How much is the wage cap going to be for everyone in the championship this comeing season?15k? 20k? Just wanted to know the max any team can pay a player! Cheers S.T.W
{Ed013's Note - Owners will be allowed to invest £6 million next season, £5 million the year after that, then £3 million in the 2014-2015 season.
From 2015-2016, clubs will be allowed to make a £2 million operating loss, as well accept a £3 million investment from an owner – allowing for a £5 million overall loss.
I can't find the text book answer for the wages but I am lead to believe that it will be 20 grand a week max with an exception of 2 players only being able to get over that amount. Don't take this as the correct answer as I will do some more digging. It may be that each squad can only have a max of 3.5 million to spend on players wages and therefore if you have a smaller squad you can pay more wages}

No wonder players are rejecting contracts, they want their last big payday before the restrictions come in play.

But thats it, we not pay it (and I am sure other teams not too!) Thing is this is one thing that actually Papa Smurf and co have got wright. We have a solid business plan atm the min and truth is if teams stray away from being on the safe side they risk points deductions, fines and the right to sign players. this means that although a long way off and I don't want to sit in this league that long but as one of only 6 teams breaking even or better, we are laughing. However we just need that small investment (which I actually believe is there this year) to get the right players in. Truth is for the "Club" it wasn't the right time to go up last year, but got the fans its always the right time!
Lets judge Papa on the first game of the season to see if he has backed us or not, until then, new season, new start for ALL at the club!

Theres no cap on wages at all if your club makes 30 mil you can spend that much thats all it is
Agree0

I think the wage cap is maximum 60% of income and you are right Ed owners can only contribute a maximum sum towards the income.

Original poster here, thanx ed, just trying to figure out why people r turning down contract offers, do most of these players honestly think they can grace the premiership and play regular cos if they do they r deluded, or even bench warm in the prem is past most of them, they would b lucky to make most squads at all, its just the money they want but the prem doesnt have enough room for all these chancers! Is it like the American leagues then, arent they allowed two palyers that exceed the wage cap?

I can't believe the negativity of some people considering it's only May 18th. If McCormack wants to go, get the fee for him & let him. That goes for White & Snodgrass too.
The HUGE difference this summer is called Neil Warnock. If there was the faintest possibility of this going the same way as last summer he would be GONE. Contrary to what some idiots would have you believe, his interviews still sound extremely positive.
It's only May 18th, exactly THREE MONTHS to the start of the season. We've already made one signing and a cracking one at that. Sit tight, smile, and enjoy the ride back to the promised land.

I really feel that players are living in cloud cuckoo land, Can they not see the average working man is struggling to make ends meet during this recession yet they still pay their money out each week to support them. I do think we all know that there is no loyalty to any club, they just take the money and jump ship when they have an odd good season. Let them all go and lets bring in players that are proud to wear the Leeds shirt.

Its ok saying that but why should the players not get extra money when all the people above them are getting pay rises each year . if the players don't take a big rise the chairman will just pocket that money so someone that is working hard for it should get that money rather than an old fart that's sitting on his ass in Monaco

He still sounds positive because barring Snoddy, he knows the players are not as good as they think they are.

I'd even include Snodgrass in the category of players who aren't as good as they think they are. He started and finished the season in terrible form. We've never had much more than a good half-season from him. When you look back to our League One team, he was on the bench when we beat scum at old scaffold (ok he came on & rattled the crossbar) and he was on the bench when we beat Bristol Rovers to win promotion. If he could play to his full potential for a full season then he WOULD be a Premiership footballer.
And on the subject of Joel Ward, this has dragged on long enough now. If I were Warnock I'd be giving him the finger and moving on to a new target.

why are people taking what YEP writes as gospel, they write anything in that, just to get you reading and posting garbage, I still feel we will keep mccormack, snoddy and white (even if i would personally get rid of white, do not rate him)
In warnock we trust, its on the 18th MAY and yet we are getting write off, I do not think we should sign beck ford, money grabbing sod, somma should be back remember his form before he got that bad injury.
Looking forward to the summer ahead, warnock will not be silly he will have people watching the euros closely. just taken 10/1 leeds to win the league, sure thing I think.

Stupid excuse for not paying better wages is that (no player is bigger than the club) 15k pw is what a striker at leeds united should be on atleast . we are a team that wants promotion yet don't want to pay the wages for the players with the ability to get us there. all we needed was 4 or 5 new top players to play along side mccormack ,clayton, white ,becchio and snoddy ,we have brought in a top cb but if the 4 players go we need another 8 top players which i can't see us getting for less than we are paying now as other teams that are willing to pay 20 k pw will be in for the top players aswell .
