For me, think we need to bring in 5-6 players with quality, positions and my wishes below (only my opinion though)
Sell- cassila, alioski, beradi, bamford, Roberts, forshaw
Gk- sell cassila, keep meisler and get in experienced keeper. Would like Gunn from saints.
Buy white and one commanding/ tall CB
for me cooper as back up.
RB- all covered here ( Ayling/ Dallas)
Lb- keep Doug,
DMF- Philips, need cover (poss struik)
Creative MF- picks for me be Eze (bit lazy) but looks great
Lallana, shakqueri Or Benrahma
Wings- good re loaning jack, have costa but think need one in, Dan James?
Strikers x 2.

Cant see Bielsa selling anyone to be honest.

Agree3 Disagree0

20 Jul 2020 07:51:20
We don't need that much change, look what happened at Villa, bought a load of players, upset the balance of the team and ended up in trouble, give the lads a chance, we need 2 or three quality signings in key areas, sign White on permanent, sign a quality striker, sign an attacking midfielder maybe a keeper and get rid of Casilla.

Agree2 Disagree0

20 Jul 2020 08:42:46
I really don’t see us signing anyone to be honest expect making white and Harrison permanent but even that maybe out of our price range.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jul 2020 10:02:15
Don’t agree, I think if we fail to make a number of quality signings, next season will be a long one.
We need 2 Centre backs (one must be White, the other in place of Cooper) , Keeper in place of Kiko, Centre Mid, another speed merchant to push Costa and at least one proven striker, possibly 2, Bam Bam won’t get anywhere near the chances he has had this year, and his conversion rate is woeful, although his contribution elsewhere has been magnificent, but goals wins games.

Spot on Midfield General.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jul 2020 10:49:51
If there are some new additions to the squad, they must be done now. We will not be making any in the January transfer market, as new players would need about a 6 month transition period to adapt to Bielsa’s intensive training schedules.
Harrison will take another one season loan in the Premiership. I have no idea wether we will get BW or not. It’s going to take a massive payout to Brighton if they agree to let him go.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jul 2020 13:28:47
I think the new signings we are talking about are making the current loan signings permanent and or extending loans of current players . We also have young players who will be promoted . I doubt we will see any new faces.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jul 2020 14:36:28
It’ll be a blend of a couple of new faces, some returnees, and some U23’s stepping up to the plate in my opinion, and I’m comfortable with that. Even IF QSI were to come in, (Which I think unlikely at this point in time! ) I still don’t think we would see wholesale change.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jul 2020 15:06:08
GK - Casilla Out. meslier Permanent (£5m option)

RB - No change Ayling/ Dallas
CB - Cooper stays, White (£25m bid much more too much) , one other rotational/ backup. Berardi sounds like they are preparing new deal but not good enough but like having him around. Love him to take a player coach role. Suggestion if Bournemouth go down have a look at Chris Mepham.
LB - Douglas and Alioski - would like to improve here but overall think this lower priority more pressing needs elsewhere.
CDM - Phillips Struijk backup
CM - Klich, investigate Forshaw recovery during pre season. Shackleton, Gotts pretty solid here I think
CAM - Hernandez, think Bogusz is either going to push on/ get a chance vs Charlton or move on.
Wings, Harrison Loan (option to buy remains) Costa, Alioski (sort of) . Think we need another winger to keep those two honest/ injuries. Benrahma is amazing would love him, only really possible if Brentford fail to go up

ST Paddy does a decent job but not a great job. Roberts plays better up front than the CAM (the good ball for Shackleton goal notwithstanding) . Oduard would be nice hope we find a way out of the Augustin deal.

Rumoured: Quarta, Zaracho, Gaich (seems going to CSKA) Buendia, Gunn, that Nurnberg player name forgotten, Oduard, Augustin (hopefully not)

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jul 2020 18:03:53
Mighty You're so very wrong about not seeing new faces. Don't know why you'd remark such a thing. Apart from Meslier and Harrison, you will either see White again and at least 3 new faces or at least 4 new faces and no White.

Hate to pee on our parade, but anyone nervous that Bub will say done what I set out to do and bye? It’s the last thing we ant to do, and I appreciate he’s such a gracious man and wants to divert all the praise onto his staff, players.

He’s made no statement to say he isn’t staying but no hint to say he is, I appreciate the norm would be of course he is staying but they don’t call him El Loco for nothing and he’s done it before. desperately hope I’m wrong and will be delighted when it’s confirmed I had nothing to worry about.

i can't see him leaving unless the board don't back him in the market

but the board have backed him so far and can't see that chaning. They all seem to have a great dynamic and I would be amazed if he leaves.

Agree2 Disagree0

20 Jul 2020 08:21:27
He spoke yesterday about needing to convert a higher number of chances. Think this was a message that we needed to recruit better players or he would go not stay?

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Jul 2020 08:02:10
I agree Berm, hopefully I’m just having a case of the “too good to be true for a Leeds fan” moment.

He does appear happy they’ve given him everything he has asked for, he’s a special manager and great human, did anyone see him stop his car and run over to hug a wheelchair bound Leeds fan outside pride park. He really does have it within him to be our greatest ever Manager in time.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Jul 2020 08:47:47

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jul 2020 20:51:22
same alf. i am not a belisa fan. nor do i like his style of football. if belisa is a god then what is chris wilde and howard wilkinon who is 10 times better

that all said belisa has proven me wrong. he has got us up an playing pretty football. he has to take us to the prem. he has to show what he can do. he has to continue to make me look like an idiot.

watford don't like to stick with managers do they. Think pearson has done well and for me has a good record and proven very good manager.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Jul 2020 08:50:40
Watford deserve to go down as it’s a disgrace the way they treat managers. They were properly in stuck when Pearson took over and at least he’s given them a chance of staying up.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Jul 2020 10:07:30
Bielsa has never been shy at contract negotiation and usually uses his brother Raphael, a lawyer. He’ll want to sit down and see what is on offer and importantly what the job is for the next year. For me, this is the toughest bit for Bielsa, easy to have clear targets for the last two years, next year? Staying up or top 15 isn’t particularly sexy for someone like Bielsa. He will want to be able to battle against the very best and doing that in a sustained and survivable way won’t be easy next year. He’ll want to stay and play the same football, we’ll want to stay up and build something sustainable. Got to find a way of making all that work.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jul 2020 11:10:52
Bielsa is above all a coachthough - won't he get some measure of satisfaction being able to continue his good work with the firsts and of course the younger lads? As a coach surely he won't be able to resist the opportunity to go up against the best in the UK and arguably the whole of Europe?

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jul 2020 18:09:26
Spaniard Bielsa's job is already revealed. PL stability. That means scoring about 56 points and finishing around 8th or 9th. You only twist the season after that once stability has been attained.

future is bright

shacks, podva and striijk showing proper class tday and Edmondson, Keneth and bogatuz also got a future at the club

Have to be honest (i know i am baised) but for me on that display Stukij far better DM than Kp and if we got a good offer of 40 million for KP i'd be very tempted to sell.

shacks as well really excites me i think he could play for England

i think harrision has improved but for me podva looks twice the player

think kiko will show class in prem

I think two Cb's as first teamers to replace white and cooper and a proper left back (love dallas but as prem left back i ain't sure) and a killer forward (althugh i like bamford)

4 good players and I think we will hold our own with the

right i am off to watch the derby guard of honour and us celebrating at the end in pride park while crying my eyes out.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

19 Jul 2020 19:13:48
Berm I too was impressed by Struijk in both games, but that's way too early to use him as a KP replacement.
He has looked good at Championship level for 2 years, Struijk for 2 games.
Premier is a different level altogether I hope they both make it!

Agree2 Disagree0

19 Jul 2020 19:37:55

IMO.

Agree2 Disagree0

19 Jul 2020 21:28:40
i hope not richiem

i get sentiment but there is a level. last time we went to top flight sir srgt wilko had the sense to realise that ever present keeper mervin day and top player vinnie jones had reach there limit

cooper, berra and maybe even dallas might have reached that limit as well (maybe bit harsh on dallas but coops is never top flight player)

Agree1 Disagree0

19 Jul 2020 21:37:47
Always being a fan of young Shackleton, think he has a great future.
Today our young guns looked good but in fairness in a game with no meaning and that showed in many passages of play.
Next game for sure Charlton will give it all, if they look good in that game as well then the future is bright.

Agree1 Disagree0

19 Jul 2020 22:02:38
I agree Richie, that Coops will still be our Captain, and deservedly so, as he has had a great season! Strujik might get an opportunity to prove himself to play alongside him, but will not usurp Kalvin. Poveda, definitely one for the squad, and depending on pre season, maybe starting. Shacks will be another one for the squad, and hope Bogusz gets a chance too. Plus there are, on Top of Kenneh, Stevens, Davies, Gotts, Caprile others who are more than capable from what I’ve watched! Kamwa for one, MCCalmont, Edmondson! We could set up another Leeds in the Championship, and get promoted again with the strength in depth we have!

Agree2 Disagree0

19 Jul 2020 22:06:01
I’m sorry but it’s all about systems and the way we play as a team under Bielsa! That’s why quite often it’s very difficult to pick a MOTM or player of the season! They all have specific jobs/ areas to work in and the young players are coached to be able to come into the first team as replacements! They are like a well oiled machine (especially this weekend) Coops has been a great leader this season but just as importantly a hugely vital part of the team! This team/ machine is going to play in the premier league with probably very little change in personnel!
In my humble opinion 😜.

Yessss credit where it's due, I have been a critic of Radz and Orta in transfer windows but they have delivered the goal of promotion. WELL DONE SIRS.

THEIR BEST AND MOST IMPORTANT DECISION WAS BRINGING EL MAGICO MARCELO BIELSA.

19 Jul 2020 19:35:43
I agree Baz. MB one of Leeds United best ever acquisitions.
To get promotion from this league playing his kind of football is some achievement. It’s a joy to watch. Football is an entertainment business and that’s exactly what leeds give to the crowd. I mean would you pay to watch a crap west end show or even one of Bermos plays😉
Leeds literally have become everyone’s second team over here in Ireland and all because of El Loco!

Loyalty Martyn. 100%. Never waiver. Some lads can’t help being negative and some chop and change like the weather! They all know who they are just like we know who we are. It’s amazing to think how many regular posters said Bielsa should get on his bike.

Agree3 Disagree0

19 Jul 2020 20:51:15
got off the high horse cork it just don't suit yes

yes you are right and us neighsayers are well pleased for you and the more importantly the club. remember our views come from last year when we threw it away in amazing fashion

so can we all just get behind the club and be happy rather than smug?

also it is beyound stupidty to suggest it is loyalty. i am loyal to leeds don't mean i always think everything is rosey. i'm also loyal to my wife but i know she is over weight and getting old.

Agree2 Disagree0

Spot on bermo, the classic I am not. (gloating ) whilst that's exactly what their doing . Well we were not gloating neither last year when our predictions were right and Martyn +Corky +a few others were wrong . My moan is and has always been Victor buying muck whilst Radz not strengthening properly .
I do dread what " talent " Victor will unearth in August.

Also I am not. gloating about my prediction that JKA would be another Victor lump, back in January I was lashed out of it by saying he would be a dud, not naming names but I was told I was silly as I hadn't seen him play for Leeds,

Well well, club doing all they can now to get shot of said lump.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jul 2020 16:27:43
I can certainly make a case for 5 new faces but given Bielsas loyalty and small squad thinking I think it may be just 3 coming in. On todays showing Poveda and Struijk have made very strong cases to be in the first 11.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

19 Jul 2020 17:05:49
How many of the squad are not good enough for the step up, their loans are over or are too old, White, Beradi, Douglas and Foreshaw. If Pablo stays it might only be in a subs role.
Hopefully one or two of the other youngsters will break through.
Still think we could do with a minimum of 6 and in reality when you take away the ones leaving it should be about 8.
Thats players who can play to the standard and slot straight in.
CH, DM, AM, No.10, two wingers and two strikers.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

19 Jul 2020 20:52:26
i think casilla will be very good in prem. he is a great shot stopper and great at 1-on-1's

his weaknesses are crosses

i think he will be better suited to the prem.

19 Jul 2020 16:17:43
What is the story with Augustine.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

19 Jul 2020 16:46:12
I can't see him signing for Leeds for reaatbs

1.Leeds don't want him permanently as he is not fit / injured and would fail another medical which surely Leeds would insist on for a permanent transfer

2.JKA probably no longer wishes to come to Leeds ( key point) aa he must feel Leeds don't want him.

There might be a small compensation fee to get out of the alleged original deal of signing him on a permanent deal.

Agree2 Disagree0

19 Jul 2020 17:37:25
Phil Hay reported a few weeks ago, that Augustin did not expect to wear a Leeds shirt again, and had given up on the move, as he really struggled to adapt to Marcelo’s coaching techniques, and demands.

loved that 1st half

povda looks quality, class, vision, can find a pass and pace to burn (nice finish as well)

roberts has class but needs to work on shooting as can be bit frustraing

shacks has all the qialities to play for england

and striuk might be my new fav player, big, imposing, can head a ball, win a tackle and breaks up play. i like him so much i might even earn how to spell his name

gutted for berra hope that is the end of his leeds career but he desevred better than to be carried off injured

love to see pablo make way for bogatuz

the future looks bright.

i like douglas and like him in the team

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jul 2020 15:07:09
really Aus? think povda looks very lively bright and brilliant

as for leightweight Struki on his own makes us less lightweight than every other leeds player put together. He is our only player over six foot who can head a ball and win a tackle

think we looked quick, brigth and full of intent while soild at the back

think that was bright for the future, really find your views odd. epsically considering the nature of the game and the last few days.

Agree1 Disagree0

19 Jul 2020 16:07:47
We must of watched diff first half berm

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jul 2020 18:54:50
have to strongly disagree

Shacks is like bugs bunny he is everywhere. I am waiting for him toget on the end of his own cross

pdovaka looked a great player, set up the goal, pace to burn, real purpose and beats a man

stuijk is for me the perfect example of why i moan about phillips. Stiuijk is everything phillips aint. He was strong, good in the air, great in the tackle, showed class to beat a man, covered the defence and offered attacking threat as he can cover ground. That for me is a defensive midfeilder and shows why a CB can move forward with greater ease than an attacking mid like phillips can move back

with bogatuz, edmondson, kennth and a few others coming through this could be the start of something wonderful.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jul 2020 13:34:38
I truly hope the lads are sober enough to win both of our remaining games, especially starting today with those hypocrites at Derby plus I think it provides momentum into the next season that’s not too far away.

That being said I would love to see baby shacks, Stevens, Poveda, Casey, Struijk or Casey get some serious minutes. Really like look of Leif Davis too.

I believe (don’t know that’s for sure) that Bub sees football like grand master chess and to this end he identifies players to do a specific role which benefits the team but remains within their abilities.

Personally I’d be happy if we only signed four, Ben White another centre half a creative midfielder and of course what everyone else craves a goalscorer.

That may HAVE to be Big Kev but for now I’d like us to really focus back on winning and he next two big games, plenty of time for The players and staff partying afterwards.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

19 Jul 2020 15:48:55
sorry 92 but i think we have more chance signing Messi than ben white. i can't see any way he comes to leeds, he will either stay at brighton or go to a big club in eurpe competition

think we need to CB's, a specialist left back, clinical finisher and someone to replace pablo.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jul 2020 18:39:48
Maybe wishful thinking but I think we have a chance with Ben White! I think he has really settled at Leeds and enjoys the spirit and the chance to be coached both in life and football terms by one of the best coaches in the world!
It’s not like he’s even started for Brighton, just been loaned out! If he went to a big club would he get any game time let alone European experience! Fingers crossed the boys can convince him to stay!

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jul 2020 12:29:51

lets see what roberts does up front and podkva on the wing

love stuki and think he is the future and offers something we don't have and really miss.

jamie shacks for me will be our best midfeilder so love to see him get a game

of course i don't like berra playing but for his effort let's give him two games before axing him from the team

Bermo, on your most recent post, regarding the team and I would add this is not directed at you. We all see things differently.
All players have strengths and weaknesses, likewise teams, coaches, managers and chairmen.
Its how you over come these to succeed.
We did not have the big money parachute payments . The genius of Bielsa was to assess the squad plus the opposition, then devise and adopt his strategy to bring success, with the relatively small squad of players he had available to him.
Everyone looks at a game and takes different things from it. A hard working tough tackling player who puts in a big performance or a flash of inspiration that creates the winner. We all value these contributions differently, that's not to say anyone is right or wrong. Its what makes each game unique and is the underlying unknown quantity in the game.

i agree 1970

football is all about opinions and ideals.

Personally I can not stand Pep's abd belisa's style. i think it is over rated and will under achieve as it flatters to decieve and is not the best way to get results as it is funermentally flawed to give lesser teams a chance (look at city this season and how many champs leagues pep has won with the sqauds he has had) .

personally i prefer a more direct approach like fergouson and klop, play football but with purpose, ue width and be direct (but still play nice) if you don't have the best players like fergouson and klop I prefer a wilko/ dyce approach. I think it gives lesser teams the best chance of winning and why wilko is better than both the don and belisa as he is the only manager to over achieve (lets hope belisa does the same over next few years)

however this all said the main thing. the only thing that matters is the results and belisa has done the job and got us up. yes i think it is the most frustrating time to be a leeds fan ever due to constantly losing agaisnt poor team but he has brought success and I am delighted to say that he did what i didn't think would be possible in this league with his style

i still think the man has huge flaws but his greatness has outweight that and he has got us up so i have to be a man and say i was very wrong and very happy to be very wrong.

Bermo you make very valid points, although the right and wrongs of the matter are not that simple. Your view is how you see it, others may see your point, they may have a different view or take on your view.
The recent Swansea, Barnsley and Fulham results had a massive impact on the whole run in. A couple of these games could easily have gone the other way.
As a team we had what it takes in this games and that is the big difference.
Football has moved on a long way from the Revie and Wilko eras.
Is Bielsa's template one for the future? Barcelona, M City, Arsenal, Arteta, Pep, Pochitino, Simeone, all at the top of the game are believers in variations of the system. Possession football as a first form of defence has its merits. The only problem is if it continues to morph into a game like basketball, drifting further and further away from the game we knew. The old boys back in the seventies and eighties used to complain back then that it was not the same game they grew up with .

I have just been reading, some excellent Tweets from Liverpool fans saying they hope James Milner stays with them, but he would go with their blessings if he wanted to return to Leeds. Some even saying LFC should let him join us on a free transfer. I wonder if MB would want him?

He’s just signed a two year contract with them so it doesn’t sound like he’ll be going anywhere soon.

leeds have no chance of milner the fella just won the leage and the champs league. only reason he would leave was if he wasnt playing but he plays a lot at liverpool.

also think we have no hope of white staying with us, i personally think he will go spurs but if not going to a bit club he will stay at brighton i don't think we will have the money to buy him (think he will be about 30-40 million)

that said I trust orta, kinner and belisa have targets and seen we just re-signed harrison which if he continues to develop as he has this season will be a great singing.

Re Humble pie. Always supported Leeds but the point is we didn't get everything right all the time this season and assessing each game as it comes and goes is what it is all about. I've always said we would 'possibly' be champions, 'probably' automatic promotion and 'definitely' play offs.

Bamford isn't a natural goal scorer but the rest of his game is very good. We've been helped along the way by other results but nevertheless we've played some excellent football most of the season but struggle against thephysical defensive sides.

Apart from my playing career i've watched Leeds home and away - including Jack Charlton's first game back after his national service- and I enjoy the highs like now because football is all about endeavour, ups and downs and opinions. Leeds are the best - no other opinion counts.

Anyone who claims Bielsa is aloof and distant needs to watch the hug between him and KP.

Can add Bam and Pablo to that too

There’s a special bond at the club again

Two cup finals left and we go again in the prem.

I was ecstatic yesterday and I am beside myself today.

Quite a bit has been said about the impact El Loco has had on many aspects of our club, but this only happened because his spirit, passion and professionalism was embraced and adopted by the players and all involved at every level.

That is why I am so proud at what has been achieved. This was a promotion and Championship earnt by Leeds UNITED.

Long may we MOT and look out Europe.

I admit I have been perplexed if not raged in anger at Bielsa's stubbornness and loyalty. He has eventually been proved to have completed his task, but that's not to say every decision he has made was right.

IMO a decent striker would've made us Champions by March. I am not in a contest with Bielsa. He has eventually got us over the line, and it's an amazing feeling.

Hopefully he has learned a lot because the PL is not so forgiving. I am eating a slice of humble pie, but there's always more than one way to achieve a goal.

I hope his loyalty doesn't get in the way of the swinging axe that should come out soon.

Octopus

Definitely, definitely no swinging axe needed at this club. These are the same players that last year outplayed Sheffield United in everything except scoring goals, and look how well Sheffield United have done this season. These are the same players that have for 2 seasons now performed at a fitness level way beyond any of their peer group. These are the same players that went to to toe with a very good Arsenal team in the cup this year.

Swinging cuts. Oh my god. We need additions, not take away.

Our Academy has just made it to the top league, thus our younger players are not going to be filling a bench for us this year they are going to be thrust in against the best young players in the world at the best academies in the world.

We need to buy better players than what we have and the player that is replaced is used to improve our bench.

For me, an experienced keeper. Not because I don't have faith in Meslier, but because I don't want him pushed too hard, too soon. I don't want Ramsdale as he hadn't done much at Bournemouth.

2 actual centre backs. Cooper is our leader and I would have him around the first team for his 'side before self mentality'. But White on another season loan, this time with a final transfer fee included, and another early 20's talent would give is all the cover we need.

A recognised goalscorer. Left field idea from me Ibrahimovic. Even at his age he could do a job for us.

(And I haven't even mentioned Milner, god if only)

Totally Axe, it is so much more than about players, it is the way the whole club is run, the unity and bond from top to bottom, one for all and all for the club. We have an owner who is priceless, who believes in his vision of Leeds and look what he has done in a little over 2 years. Leeds has always been about the spirit. It's a special club for special people and when it's right there is no club can compete.

Im not a young man and since the age of 7 years old I have loved this great football club of ours Leeds United through thick and thin.
In recent years we have endured a torrid time of mostly disappointing times since we were relegated.
Our shining light has blazed in victory but has also diminished into fading flickering light in defeat.
We will perhaps never be like those ever reliable “big clubs“ Liverpool, Man U and Arsenal but we are a club that has moments of great times.
Like now, this is a new era of great things to happen to this FC.
Marcelo Bielsa is the new creator of this this era and I do believe he will become the greatest manager Leeds Utd ever had.
This man should not be underestimated, Bielsa is without doubt in my mind, one of footballs greatest artists.
Several of you folks on here distrusted his leadership, but here is a coach that will take Leeds Utd above and beyond.
Enjoy it while it lasts.
