Just watched the first half of the 23's vs Ipswich, and while I know we have 146 players in that squad, I don't think it's our strongest team, but there is some quality there, as well as some physicality that is lacking in the first team. Either that, or Ipswich don't have a youth system?

Dalby, Rey, Balboa, oconnor. will all be pushing for the squad next season. And looking at Kun from the last game. more to come. I enjoyed watching this match more than I have the first team recently.

If you can watch a dev team game, I recommend it. Yep they're a bit like training games, but look at the individual skill, the pressing, the link up. I really hope these boys can push on.

Because I’ve been at a loss about what to say about the first team, I have been watching more of the under 23s. Firstly tonight’s game was a great watch, good carefree attacking football and secondly you can really see how this squad of players is developing. Some good quality play, good build up, don’t know the stats but we could have had a lot more goals. Still a bit hung ho, but I can see some more of these players coming through. I think the strategy might be working more with the development squad than with the first team!

Sad state of affairs when your enjoying under 23s above 1St team. Let's just throw half a dozen of the young boys a chance. What's the worst that can happen? We get beat! Nothing new there but at least well get commitment

Rey, Dalby and Clarke should all get a chance soon. As well as our favourite Kun. 😀

Agree re "gung Ho" Spanish, and from having coached kids from 4 to 18, I think it's intentional, to allow them to bloody go for it, and encourage positive, creative play. My only doubt is the gulf it creates between dev football, and championship type football. That said, our pressing out of possession was great, and some of the inter play at times was very good. And this isn't a settled team.

Drop everybody except berahdi. Goalie. Pontus. Forshaw saiz. Bring the youth in with the message. Attack attack attack.

20 Mar 2018 07:20:28
Bright you’re right, good pressing play and some really confident creative football. Martyn, it’s good fun football and better for my mental health at the moment than watching the first team! I wonder if any championship team has ever dropped its entire first team and fielded the under 23 team instead! We would probably win the game and then get fined a fortune and docked points for fielding a weakened team! They are playing again on Friday vs Cardiff, 7pm I think, worth watching if you have the chance.

Spany, Brighty are we, in a few years, going to be talking about the the Class of '19 ?

There's defo talent there Leodis, and they're all big lads too, which seems to be the way the game is going, and where we are lacking in the first team at the minute, in my opinion. The positive on top of the positive performance for me, was that we have many more who weren't even in the squad last night, which shows the strength in depth that will be coming through soon. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

1964 for me Oxwhite, and without checking the playing records I can't remember a run as bad either. And after witnessing Saturday's performance it doesn't look like ending.

From 63 to 75 there wasn't many bad ones Giles, we were spoilt apart from Cloughie's short tenure.

1970 and cannot see us returning to our former status any time soon. Our plan is not working. Do not see the funding and investment required being put in from the current incumbents . Mid table, second tier at best and going backwards fast . Starting to think we could be in a relegation battle next season . It just appears to be one big mess. Looks like there might be something going on behind the scenes ? Why was McClaren at ER a few weeks back, don't think he was there to advise Rads as that is Orta's role ?

Strangest season I have ever witnessed. At the beginning I genuinely believed it would be nailed on for playoffs and probable for automatics. Now, not confident we will finish top alf. Dennis Wise style.

I too am a silver surfer from the days of Storrie, Lawson, Bell, Hair etc. Forgive me but we have been through spells just as bad as this. After all such is the lot of a Leeds supporter. Somehow, someday we will get out of it. Just hope I am around to see it. That word Hope again. Let's hope it all starts with Bolton.

I was seven for my first game, in 1980, and I'm sure we've suffered with more dire performances than this?

19 Mar 2018 21:23:40
Records are 17 games without a win in 1947, 6 consecutive defeats in 1947 and 10 games without a home win in 1982. Glad I wasn't around in 47! The early eighties were a tough time though, another period when promotion wasn't on the agenda. Would have loved Billy to have took us back up when he just missed out in the Play Off to Charlton, and an unlucky FA Cup Semi-final defeat against Coventry.

For all the talk about Wolves, surely we should be more upset that the wendies kept us out of the top 6 last year by overspending and cheating ffp? Very sad to see them in such financial woes. 😀

What are Cardiffs debts ?

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - didn't their owner write most of the debt off by turning his loans into equity?}

19 Mar 2018 17:27:42
Wendies chairman also created fake companies so he could sponsor kits too, breaching ffp rules. Why isn't AR/EFL looking into this instead?

Agree2 Disagree0

19 Mar 2018 19:36:55
Because it’s not leeds

Agree1 Disagree0

19 Mar 2018 21:34:39
My point is why doesn't AR complain about that rather than Wolves? We lost out on a chance of promotion to a team not playing by the rules.

The death of George Meek has been announced. I remember watching him play. A very 'short' player but full of skill and determination. I wish we had a squad today who could match his skill and desire to put in the 100% . RIP

RIP little man, remember seeing him play for Leeds old boys along with Eddie and frankie gray back when I was between 10-12 at St gregorys primary school for charity against a local Sunday league side. I remember he was probably the fittest guy on the pitch. SAD news

19 Mar 2018 13:26:59
If he is better than Cole, Baines and even Carlos then grab him but if not why are we interested in Yiadom when we have Ayling, Berardi and Coyle? Money better spent elsewhere.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

19 Mar 2018 15:40:46
Leodis It's because management are stupid. Prioritizing a 4th right back. Mind you Ayling could move centrally to bolster Pontus.

Bang right Leodis, but I doubt it's true.

Agree2 Disagree1

19 Mar 2018 16:53:15
Alternatively Ayling could move sideways, to a forward thinking and performing club, following Pontus and spit the soaniard out the door, if the owners don't get their fingers out.

19 Mar 2018 17:03:31
Maybe signing players from teams who could be relegated is part of the 5 year plan

Agree1 Disagree0

19 Mar 2018 17:08:15
Ayling is not a CB. If we start playing him there, then we've learnt nothing. Just like we bottled out of signing Helander so Super Cooper could play instead. 😅

Since we spent £500k to sign Heckaday, wouldn't it have been better to get Marco Silva until the end of the season with a £1m offer? If we went up, he gets a bonus, if we didn't he's free to leave. MS would have got us top 6, Heckaday will have us finishing 18th.

Think we shoulda got a better manager tbh But the shambles we call a team have given up and are just going through the numbers. He should play who he is keeping next year. And sin bin the rest in the u23s. No point in playing crap week in and out.

Agree1 Disagree1

19 Mar 2018 10:49:40
No way should he stay beyond this season Aus. He's won 1 game and changed nothing since he's come. Usually managers shore up defensively or get a few wins. He's taken us four places back since he's been in charge. Imagine the damage he'd do in one season.

Agree1 Disagree0

19 Mar 2018 11:21:47
Totally agree but unfortunately a) We go 4 a cheap option and b) can't see this shower attracting a better class of manager especially if he isn't buying his own players, from wat I've seen of ph might aswell of kept tc

19 Mar 2018 11:31:25
Watch what happens next year with long term contract and few leavers which means few new players. Roll on Radz 5 years plan :-)

Agree1 Disagree0

19 Mar 2018 12:08:29
At this time of the year and in our situation I cannot see a better option beating down our door so why don't we keep our powder dry see if he has any radical change up his sleeve and let's see what the summer brings. We have been beeaten yes but not humiliated. We have made silly individual errors which have cost us dearly. He needs, quickly, to iron them out. Whether to improve the mistaker or to replace him, that is the question, or at least one of them. Maybe like the injuries/suspensions they all came at once. Let's hope (that common phrase of a LUFC supporter) that things come together the next game and we put 4 past Bolton (whilst keeping a clean sheet) . A win or two would make all the difference.

Agree1 Disagree0

19 Mar 2018 14:32:50
Bolton are more likely to put 4 past us sadly. The players are low on confidence, because we don't have a great motivator in charge. He's more interested in getting them running than trying to change tactics, formation or confidence issues. Get in a better manager and you'd see better results.
