thats the thing last few years have been very dull with season over by now, good to still be interested in what teams around us are doing as it still matters, by this rate we might even still be in things by my birthday at end of march and that ain't happened for donkeys years.

Still in things Bermo? By March we will be sitting on top looking down. MOT.

Hello fellow whites, this post is my view regarding the Pontus situation,

People wondering why he hasn't signed permanently. He has but we have In on loan until the end of the season, meaning we aren't terminating his loan contract and letting it flow into his contract at the beginning of next season.

Before u start talking about Hernandez, he was only on loan until January, so we signed him after his loan spell.

Anyways, if u guys have any other news in reply to this please share.

Just reading, on another site (yes I know, forgive me) and saw two names from the past. Jordan Botaka and Amadou Haidara. Will we ever see them again?

I don't even remember what position Amadou Haidara is, know nothing about him.

Not sure what happened to Botaka - is he out on loan? i also never heard of the other guy.

Haidara is still with Leeds and as for Botaka goes I think he is on loan at Charlton (he's a winger in case we ever need one)

If Charlie already has a pre contract agreement though all he has to do is keep himself fit and he gets his move. No need to spit the dummy and go on strike or go to the press etc and make it obvious you are a bad egg, all a player has to do is keep telling the boss and the physio that the achilles is still painful and limp about a bit and its hard for anyone to tell him otherwise - you can't force someone to play if they insist they are in pain can you?

I know this happens sometimes with players when they don't fancy it - look at that game last season (or was it season before) when a load of lads said they were injured and they weren't.

Could well be right there Alf. I'd like to think we are a very different club with a far superior Management Team these days that would minimise the risk of another 'mafiagate'. In which case you would have thought Monkey would have looked at other options in addition to what we already have.

I recall Monkey set his stall out very early in declaring Charlie would remain with us this season in that to have the player and any future compensation payment was preferable to selling. Keeping everything crossed that we get the best out of Charlie for the remainder, but admit it's reliant on some lucky seaweed!

Agree1 Disagree0

01 Feb 2017 16:40:05
No seaweed needed. I have already lit a few candles and said a few prayers for promotion so I just need add Mr Taylors name to my litany. Hopefully all this conjecture is way off the mark and that with my blessed assistance he will have a miraculous recovery and play out of his skin right through to May. (and next season with us in the prem). Jobs a good un anyway as I lashed out on a special leg healing scent from Yankee Candles at Harvey Nics.

Agree1 Disagree0

01 Feb 2017 17:19:31
Thanks leodis let's hope that the candle and the prayers do the trick, that I'm totally wrong and we will soon be seeing Charlie back in the all white strip taking his place next to the other heroes.

is it possible for teams (leeds) to set up gentlemans agreements before the summer, with other clubs, to grab first choice of intended but unsuccessful targets?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

01 Feb 2017 17:20:30
i think so as long as you are not 'tapping up' the player directly. You can make enquiries to a club at any time as far as i am aware. Why, who you got in mind?

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Feb 2017 17:43:56
Do you know of 2 clubs wot have gentlemen owning them? Do share the info 😃.

01 Feb 2017 19:12:18
I have been keeping a list of all the names we have been linked with and if you add all the players who are out of contract in the summer (some in June) then there are quite a few to go at. By the way are you the real Alf Tupper? I spent most of my Saturday mornings reading your serialised biography in the Victor. My encyclopedia of choice. I learned more from the Victor and Zoo Quest than I ever did at school. In fact I followed your training regime strictly. Consuming vast quantities of chips. Unfortunately I could not wait til full time to eat them. Often before (and sometimes during) a game. That's why I had to stop playing. Mi mam couldn't get the vinegar stains out of mi football shirts.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Feb 2017 21:51:00
Blooming ada! Leodis I'm sadly not the real 'tough of the track' just a big fan. I do a bit of running but usually further than a mile and certainly not breaking any world records like Alf did when he ran the toffs. I also agree with Alf that fish and chips are great grub! Always good to meet a fellow fan :)

The two new signings look like they will add quality to the team. I would have liked it if a central defender had been added. Across the back Ayling, Bartley, Jannson, Berardi, and Taylor are very good. Coyle and Denton are good prospects Cooper is not great. I believe that when he plays we will usually concede.

Ayling can provide some cover at centre back but not for an extended period. A good prospect, like the Swedish lad who was touted, would have been a good bet or someone similar. Up front is my main concern. There has been a lot of talk about having a back up striker. Fletcher for example If that is the case what is the problem with Antonnson?

He cost £2 million and was a goal scorer. If he is not good enough we should off load. The new lad Petroza apparently can play in any of the three positions up front. It may be with the better quality out wide and O'kane, Bridcutt and Hernandez getting more game time Antonnson might come into his own.

When he has played service and chances have been very few and far between. Hopefully with more creativity going forward Antonnson might still prove a shrewd buy. If not be fair to the lad let him get game somewhere else .Up front we have more cover, on paper, than we do at the back

And my worry is you are more likely to lose defenders to suspensions and covers thin.

Does the loans Windows re-open soon, or has that been scrapped? Can't remember tbh. Would have much preferred another "fully signed" CB too tho!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - scrapped.}

01 Feb 2017 11:09:24
Not overly impressed with our activity in transfer window but we do have a better shape to squad and more options. Signed a left winger at last which is a big plus. Both got pace and skill but they will have to prove they can step up. Barrow been in championship before and not set it alight. let's hope he can get back to the form he had earlier in his career. Alf looks classy but he was playing in second tier but looks like he will adapt and could be an excellent move. Would have liked a CB but maybe Monk knows some one available on a free soon.

Another swansea player well one should of gone back . Said on t mowatt went for £600k and poor old ross out on loan to n/forest. couldn't climb over 3ft wall . At doncaster he had a love for a scottish drink . . i guess to pissed to get ovver wall , and now nobody wants him

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - he is having personal problems in his life and that is causing him to act up. He is a bit of a knob but still, we all go through tough times and it is never nice to gloat.}

01 Feb 2017 10:32:46
The point I have made in the past and one we should remember is if someone came up to you and offered to double your wages for doing the same job what would you do. If Ross has problems I'm sorry to hear that, when he was hear he did his job . All I care is when a player is on the pitch fore Leeds Utd is that they try there best .

Agree1 Disagree0

01 Feb 2017 10:55:48
None of us want to gloat if he is having personal problems, but it's always just part of the banter when for example they get a straight red in their first game. Doesn't mean we thought any less of them while they were here. It's the way Ross left that leaves the sour taste, basically going on TV and touting his services while he was under contract. Anyway that's water that's long under the bridge so wish him well except when he plays against us.

Agree1 Disagree0

01 Feb 2017 11:47:57
I do get the banter Speedy, but really know one of us knows what really happened in his transfer, whether it was his wish or M C cashing in a what was an excellent deal . I'm an ex-professional singer and myself went down very dark roads and for what it's worth I saw people far more talented than me end up either no longer with us or worst off . This was long before social media which can be so destructive, I thought being in the limelight would be great, however there is a price to pay .

At the start of the season if I had told you that:
Wood reached 20 goals 30 games in to the season
We're 4th and pushing for automatics with a bit of hope
We have premier league quality in our team
We are making signings of intent with big sums of money for young fresh talent
We are getting rid of the players we don't use as much and still have back up
We have a genuine opportunity with 18 games left to make something of this season and potentially become a premier league team.

Everybody would have laughed it off being Leeds fans, but it's happening. There's a passion and a fight about this team and new players want to become a part of it, we have some seriously talented players and on our day there is no team in this league better than us, I can't find a reason as to why we couldn't get promoted.

I for one am happy with the window, and the season, we have kept our quality and built on that. My praise goes out to monk and I hope you'll all join me at Wembley at the end of the season.

01 Feb 2017 08:12:51
Good Morning, I honestly I don't know what to make of our transfer business. I suppose there are a few other ways to look at it; 1- I am worried it might upset the dressing room 6 wingers 2 spots. However both look quality and the ambition shown to agree to a £8.5 deal is huge for Leeds 2- Alfonso covers a lot of options, it seems he can play both wings, at 9 and 10 and from what I seen of him, he reminds me of a young Van Persie 3 - Monk seems to have had all his eggs in the Fletcher basket with may cost us yet. But it seems he signed Barrow because Fletcher didn't happen so look at this way; GK - Green/ Silvestri
RB - Ayling/Coyle
LB – Taylor/Berardi
CB - Bartley CB - Janson/Cooper
DM- Bridcutt/O'Kane
CM- Viera/Philips CAM - Hernandez/Roofe
RW - Sacko/Barrow
LW - Alfonso/Dallas
CF - Wood/ Doukara Cover in every position. Trouble is Doukara is nowhere near good enough One last point, if you look back to the Barnsley game when it wasn’t going to plan, you could look at the bench and there were absolutely no game changers on there. We now have game changers in abundance.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

01 Feb 2017 09:16:33
The way I look at it is 3 players out, 2 in. only Mowatt was in the match day squad of the three who left. Two wingers in means we can play Roofe in the position we bought him for as cover for Woody. On balance we are better. Automatic looks a long shot but we have bought to consolidate our play off position. Would have liked another centre half and that midfield lad from Gilingham but we've had a more productive window than many a year and we are stronger than this time yesterday. MM.

Agree2 Disagree0

01 Feb 2017 09:19:14
All I can say is certain clubs are spending Weds etc should they not get promotion I do wonder how they do in regards to wage bill and far play rules. I would have liked a Gk, back up defender because I think going forwards Green and Cooper are not good enough . And yes a striker . When you think of the money spent on players who have come from the average premier clubs where they could not cut the mustard it's silly . let's be honest if we get promoted we will need to change half the squad just not to be cannon fonder, so to not spend silly and give contracts sort makes sense .

01 Feb 2017 18:26:35
I think roofe will be the striker on the bench.

Think it's a case of wait and see Wex, I'm hoping Ant and Mo (the new ant and dec) will come and do a job . The point I was trying to make in my last post was we have both on loan Like Pilot if these guys are worth it the great and hopefully they will chip in with goals like P H . I know people were hoping for Rhoads but we do get play-offs and promotion Rhoads could not get first team football at Middlesbrough. If we don't attendances are up, so let's hope whoever is in charge by that point see's sense in making sure we invest .

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Feb 2017 07:02:27
A good window in my opinion. At least two lads will be better than the last two wingers I remember us signing in Jan. A certain Stewart and kebe.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

01 Feb 2017 08:33:21
Jury still out on pedraza and barrow. I remember everyone being excited when Kebe and Stewart signed and rightly too. Kebe was incredible at reading and Stewart had pace in abundance. Just what we needed (apparently) . Pedraza has immense potential but may not adapt to to the English league, and why isn't barrow a Swansea regular? I do think they have the potential to be decent signings but I'm not getting carried away yet. Let's give them a chance and judge them after.
