Personally I think Scott wooton is a very good signing and I would not mind if we saw lees or Pearce go to make way for another centre back. Although I believe if we sell Ross then that is a huge step back and I will loose a lot of faith in GFH {Ed013's Note - Pearce has done well so far this season, keep him}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Pearce keep lees is a must one of the best cb in the league if not the best

Agree0 Disagree0

Lees isn't good enough not got much pace and seems to make quite a lot of mistakes. Jason Pearce actually dedicates himself and throws himself to stop shots, the determination in which lees lacks

Agree0 Disagree0

Lees isn't good enough, that's why he's in the u21 squad yeah?

Agree0 Disagree0

You are correct Ed . Jason Pearce has done well and if anyone has to make way for Scott Wootton it has to be Tom Lees. however a 3-4-1-2 formation might just work with the players we now have . trust BMcD.

JDC

Agree0 Disagree0

Lees has had a very mediochre start to the season and Pearce has had a very good one.

Yet people continue to say sell Pearce not Lees, i'd love to know why? Pearce is still young for a cb and a damnsight better player, some fans need to sort there heads out and realise just because you come from the Leeds academy doesn't make you superior to anyone else in that position we have bought from another team.

Now that we have Wootton, does anyone else think that BMC might use him, Lees and Pearce in the defence and push up Warnock and Peltier/Byram when fit up to a wing back position giving us a bit of width for the time being?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

21 Aug 2013 08:29:36
All well and god but Peltier couldn't put a cross on a pools coupon

Agree0 Disagree0

I know he can't cross for anything, but at the moment he is the only one going down the right wing when asked. Not only will it give us width, but have the potential to also have more space in the middle of the park (as there players will be with the wide players) Just a thought, not saying it is the best option (that would be to buy wingers!)
L3EDS

Agree0 Disagree0

He doesn't go up the right wing haha? the only time he goes there is if one of the midfielders plays a ball infront of him so he has to run to get it, then when he gets it he stands still and passes to Lees or Pearce

is bmac thanking gfh capital for backing him to sign wotten and all lufc fans think gfh are doing a good job then we end up selling ross belly the white

So GFH.
1.5 mill for one of your best players, a loss of faith in you with the fans, a major step backwards for the club and a massive loss of belief and trust.
So GFH. Deal? or No Deal?
The Fat Man

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It's been a no deal and we've signed in my opinion an excellent centre back too today so u can stop with all the losing faith crap and get on with supporting the team

Agree0 Disagree0

Just keep the faith were marching on together

Colin on ts yesterday talking with Alan Brazil, Commenting on the game on Saturday. AB said neither team will be troubling the playoffs and Warnock could not get the word out quick enough, an emphatic NO. Well thanks Neil for your faith in the squad YOU left us with. As Brazil would say. your a tube.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He is ruining my morning drive into work at the moment.

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't let that clown ruin your day we are on the up. Just goes to show he was out to destroy LUFC just like bates.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed with the 1st reponse, couldn't believe it when said Colin will be on it on rotation.

Furthermore don't listen to championship pundits, they watch one game and think they know it all.

E.g. when Aidy White scored against Everton, they said he went on "one of his trademark runs". Talk Rubbish.

If Ross goes. then we need two stunning signings in for that one out.

It's simple math. we have the manager/coach getting us on an even keel. so from here to get better, we need more and better players.

Just swapping one of equal value for another is not going to advance the cause.

We've played without Sam B and E-HD so far so they'll be an add when fit.

But we're 5 points from 9. and while it's early days, we can't do that all season and get promoted.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

5 points from 9 is good if you keep that up dats 70 points plus from 46 games ermm playoffs?

Agree0 Disagree0

It actually 76.66 recurring points

Was in Paris for the weekend in a sports bar watching the game thought Lees could have done better for their goal, Ross took his goal well overall what I saw [the wife was getting a bit pi**ed off] so saw 70 mins a draw prob a fair result.Suprised though quite a few Leeds fans in bar got talking to one he told me we have a decent following in and around Paris, later that day while having meal in bar were on and to my suprise they are not liked over there, when the 4th went in all you could here was booing, so the are generally hated ever where.

Everyone saying what is the point signing one winger, we need two etc, we already have a winger on the books in Ryan Hall. While he hasn't set the world alight at ER I think BMC has a plan for him. The lad didn't get a pre-season due to the birth of his child, but if BMC wants to offload would he play him in the development match to get him some game time? You don't see the likes of Norris, Pugh etc playing in these matches. I think it will be a make or break your for him and hope that when he gets the chance he grasps it, as he didn't play bad last year and knows how to cross!
L3EDS

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Obvious u didn't get chance to go to oakwell yesterday . He played and he was shocking to say the least . He his 10 pound over weight aswell . We do need wingers and fast . fACT .Mot

Agree0 Disagree0

I am one that says we need two wingers.

We actually have 2 wingers, with Hall and White. But would still say that we need 2 fisrt choice ones. the two we have are not that yet and need to play off someone to get to that level.

If we had Burke and Rowe, for argument sake. They would be first choice, with White and/or Hall used as subs in order to freshen things up. Ryan Hall is no where near a 70minute players, let alone 90mins. I do believe he needs a chance and will come good, but we still need 2.

And need to get rid of some central mids too.

Obviously I didn't get to oakwell, but what is also obvious is that you didn't read my post, instead took the opportunity to take a swipe at a Leeds player and a Leeds fan (which happens all too often I might add). All I was saying was that BMC might have a plan for Hall as he has been playing in the development games (FACT), and while he didn't set the world alight (FACT), he still has a decent cross on him (wasnt it in one of his first games when he came on that he set two goals up?). Now he could be overweight due to the birth of his child, and instead of training/taking part in pre season he was being a father. Now I would figure this weight will be easy for him to shift now he is getting game time etc. Now I am not saying Ryan Hall is our answer, but to the people saying no point getting one winger. There is Ryan Hall might be a good stop gap till the next window etc to get a 2nd winger in once some of the deadwood has gone. Trust in BMC!

Agree0 Disagree0

Ryan Hall came with a big reputation.he must have done something good somewhere at some point.

Agree0 Disagree0

'he could be overweight due to the birth of his child'. you are aware it was his wife that actually gave birth not him? ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha ^^ oops didn't realise how that had read when I wrote it. I must of missed that lesson at school.

To be honest if ross goes yes its a backwards step but at end of day we are LEEDS and have atleast 1-2 mill for him. Ever1 has there own oppinion on things, who we should sign, who should go etc. But ultimatly it's a up to gfh and brian! No matter who we buy/sell we stand UNITED by our lads and back them 100%. I personally think ross will stay, as some1 posted. No prem teams want him and will be going to anuva champ team. I know they are richer clubs than us but we have the fans! Don't see much appeal to any other champ teams minus leicester, qpr . I look in the paper every sunday and its leeds who 9/10 have more attendance then any oother teams playing! That's saying summat there. So less negativety lads and let's just look to the future!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Look i'm with you we should support the team buts its so difficult keep been kicked in the teeth.
the club and fans have the feel good factor at the moment.a couple more signings and it would be great.
but letting ross go and not replacing him with anybody better is just pathetic.
few defeats and everyone disappears again. shrew leeds

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with both, but they surely can't risk selling ross and bringing the negativity back, vinny.

Agree0 Disagree0

I totally agree with u mate! What is the point selling him for 1-2 mill maybe more, just to buy some1 else for same price. And also undeerstand getting kiked in teethall the time we won't wanna gop but where LEEDS we will take it all day ong. MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

Is he one of our higher earners? i'd sell ross if we could bring in 2 players with his wages and transfer fee.

Been called a bit of a miserable bugger recently so will try and remain upbeat
Looks more and more like ross is on his way. He wants to stay, mcd wants him to stay and he gives us passion and loyalty and has a good start to season. However 2m smackers mmmmm. So, we get wooton or whatever free which will create competition if not experience. Which, if gfh pass on the dosh leaves 2m for winger and striker? Who would fit the bill? Who coukd we seriously sign this week that would assist with 10 and score 20. If its not poss, keep ross. At least he really wants to play for us.
And for the nameless posters forever complaining and criticising everybodies opinion. I think we are the best team in champ and play fantastic mesmerising football with style and speed and will get instant prom without signing anyone. Criticise that!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well my opinions are never nameless so here goes ausman.
ross will never score 20 goals plus.he is a scorer of great goals not a great goalscorer.yes he has once before but he won't in this standard now.
for me we need to keep him and get another poacher striker and a winger type like vaz te.
if ross goes and we don't replace its time to forget it yet again, a waste of gfh space. shrew leeds

Agree0 Disagree0

If Ross is to score at his current rate, of 2 in 3 games he will score well over 20 goals. So let's hope he keeps it up.

am thinking many people aren't actually getting the gist of things here.

The wage budget is high enough without them adding players and costs to that. We NEED to reduce playing staff in order to keep the books balanced, the problem is, players not leaving as they are happy to sit on a salary without playing. Where as they need to be sold/given away before we can add any more. The financial fair play rules state we need to live within our means and adding 2 shall we say 7500 a week players to the squad for say 2/3 years which equates to approximately 780k over 2 years or or 1.17million. and that's before any transfer fee and bonus'. so you have Danny Pugh on an approx 10k a week wage and Norris on 8k. you now have 936k a year so far being spent on wages. plus your 780k for your 2 new players. that's nearly 2million a year being spent. we are NOT ALLOWED to do that as we are breaking budget. it's nothing to do with not having money to spend. we simply cannot add players without departee's before hand. just like every other club in our division!

Relax and keep the faith, if Danny Pugh and Norris are still here by the end of the season, they are both out of contract (I think) and we can have a complete rebuild then. these things take times. CHILL OUT and SUPPORT your team. we are playing good football, far better than last year, and we are unbeaten. embrace it for a change. McDermott's team looks very hard to beat.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You are the one who clearly doesn't understand financial fairplay, this year we are allowed I think it is 8m deficit before we get fined etc. next year is 4-6m or something like that too.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hmm, okay considering we already have a huge squad consisting of deadwood players that will not play a part for us this season, it's how much is being spent compared to how much is being earnt. and if we hire 2 more players that will then put us close to moving within the red, the further in the black we stay the better chance we have. I do understand how it works, but by throwing money at things to take a risk that may not pay off is not a sensible approach for people for their living work in investment.

Instead of arguing, try and see the bigger picture. MOT.

AntW

Agree0 Disagree0

So can you explain how the likes of Leicester, forest and other teams are able to get round the fair play then. Surely Leicester must be well over their budget?

Agree0 Disagree0

How? Leicester haven't signed anyone, Forest have lost players and signed players. Leicester are over budget hense the reason they haven't signed anyone.

The FFP states you must be spending what you earn, and because they cannot afford any more player wages they haven't signed.

There's your explanation Trev.

Ross says he's happy and it won't be his decision if he goes but he and his agent are looking for a new deal. He was clearly happy with the contract he signed a year ago but sees opportunity to get more, he knows Leeds are a bigger club, enjoys the status he has despite his inconsistency and doesn't want the upheaval of a move and so Is using the fans frustration with the club for his own benefit. He's not that bothered about Leeds as he knows were str.uggling with wages but still wants more which puts us in less of a position torecruit . All the other players left for top flight but top flight not interested in Ross, if he goes it will be his choice, no one can force him out he will just be going for the money not the premiership.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

From what I have read and I might be wrong he only said he would be happy to sign a new deal. This does not mean he is looking for more or pushing for a new deal just that he is happy at Leeds

Agree0 Disagree0

What a stupid comment about Tom Lees he needs a strong partner alongside him rather than comments like this.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jason Pearce has started the season in decent form, overshadowing Tom. they'll only get better as they play more matches together.

Agree0 Disagree0

If I were Lees and read this lot I'd be looking to move on. don't stay where you're not wanted.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Aug 2013 23:57:57
We desperately need a centre half - Tom Lees is not showing any signs of improvement, his positional play, quality on the ball and distribution are not of Championship level.
I hope Scott Wootton signs and we sign a wide player with pace and good delivery if we are to get the best out of our arial threat of Matt Smith . Time is ticking away towards the end of another uneventful transfer window.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

"Tom Lees isn't showing and signs of improvement"? What a ridiculous comment that it. Have you been to a game this year?

Agree0 Disagree0

Just a point but what is the point in signing just one winger who's going to play on the other side? If we're going to sign a winger do it properly and get two just my opinion

Agree0 Disagree0

Im a season ticket holder and have seen every game this season including chesterfield and I agree with the OP everyone slates Pearce for a few reasons:

1. Warnock signed him.
2. He's not as young as Lees.
3. He's not a Leeds academy product.

Ignore those 3 facts and he has been far far far better than Lees so far this season.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't agree about tom lees.
i think defensively we have been ok.even pearce has done ok.with sam back will be even better.
he wants a centre back incase anymore injuries or there form dips.
our problem is setting up and scoring goals.shrew leeds

Agree with shrew leeds.

would love us to sign Billy Sharp.

If the board let Ross leave things are almost as bad as the bates era. c'mon who have we really got? Lees and Byram potential and that's it as far as we know for sure. We have to keep Ross because apart from him that's it i'm afraid.
