Howson could be a new signing (on loan) as he sits on the bench most games for norwich, he still loves leeds as I've done some research and he grew up in morley (near leeds) and would be delighted to return as he will already know some of the players aswell. M.O.T!!

Believable2 Unbelievable19

Howson..... The new smith rumours, left because he had to, local lad who loves the club, would love a return to his boyhood club, blah blah blah! Get a grip! Move on! Sussex white mot

Agree19 Disagree0

I would welcome back the players bates forced to leave imagine if Howson, Snodgrass, Delph, Gradel etc... had just stayed here... don't understand the grudge against these players when there hands were tied. Of course most of them have gone on to play well and now are most likely financially out of reach.

Agree5 Disagree8

Bates didn't force those players out, I don't like the guy but i'm not going to sit here as peolple just lie about him.
snoddy, gradel, howson all asked to leave and villa offered good money for delph.
never go back those lads had their chance and all chose to go to smaller clubs "more fool them" habibou in on friday 25th. warnock out 27th. MOT

I'd like a bit of positivity! I know it's been a bit rough for us fans recently but been negative does not help. Am a 19 year old lad who's just had a conversation with 3 generations of leeds fans in my local and although its not been great in recent years the warmth and the pride that comes with sharing stories of the mighty whites makes the proudest lad in yorkshire and that's how it should be! Second half of season lets all get behind the boys and the manager and really push on so were back to the promise land

Another poor crowd at ER on Saturday. The rot needs to stop. We are in danger of losing out on a new generation of fans. As a Leeds fan and a parent I encourge my son to also be a fan, he's too young at the moment to understand that being a Leeds fan is in the blood but I will get there. The new owners need to act now before its to late.
Paulmot {Ed013's Note - Normally 6 wins in a row would fill ER, unfortunately the performances are terrible. 3 Pts has to be the main thing though and if Neil can sort the abysmal away record out then the play offs could be achievable. I worry about the horrendous goal difference, I can't see Leeds winning by 2 or 3 goals in any game so could miss out on play offs by goal difference}

Believable20 Unbelievable2

Tottally agree ed, as Life long leeds fans we accept 3 points any way we can, but to attract new fans especially the youngwe need some encouragement from the club. I do believe all is not lost this season. Paulmot

I agree with original poster, I took my 8yr old daughter for first time as she loves to watch football on tv and asked if she could come with me to watch . After 10 minutes the reading books came out of the backpack and her comment at half time was ' I can't believe you come to watch this dad, its not like proper football on tv ' . If she can see it why can't Warnock

Agree12 Disagree0

Totally agree Ed, Mainly for this reason IMO I do not think we will reach the play off's. We will lose/draw too many.

Hope i;m wrong!

I'm really worried ed the crowds have never been so bad.Do you agree the owners need to show there hand or are we been impatient because I feel we have the right to know there policy's ? Morecambe white {Ed013's Note - I think they should tell the fans their plan and be honest. I think they will go for it in the summer and if Leeds did get in the play offs it will be a bonus. If they came out and said we have a 2-3 year plan etc I think most people would be on board, they just need to prove they want to take the club forward and if they didn't they wouldn't have paid 52 million for the club}

Agree5 Disagree0

I did want Michael brown playing for us unfortunately in 2002 when the blades knocked us out both cups. Right now along with some others he should not be here and the only reason I can think of why heis in our first team not even the bench is that him and warnock are LOVERS. Luke varney another journeymen, my dads mates abpompey fan and he was jumping for joy when he left. That sais it all really. I don't understand why any Gray is here if barnsley didn't want him why the hell would we ha ha. Our tactics are obviously terrible but our defence looks like it may be ok now peltier who I hated more than brown until now is a centre back as he was far too slow. With 2 or 3 signings I could see us getting playoffs. I would get a let midfield, right midfield and maybe a striker as I don't know if we will need one if becchio stays on form and McCormack continues to get the goals

Contemplating on a 3 - 4 hour round trip to watch the leeds but by the sounds of things he's still up to his old tricks long ball tactics. What to do I genuinely am stuck as what to do I'm 29 years old and have been as exited as the first time went that feeling has gone because of warnock and his 1980's tactics.I worry that other fans are feeling the same I really worry for what I believe is the greatest football club in the land. Please invest in our great club or find someone that will .We need investment our squad is poor as another fan on this site rightfully said our squad was better in league 1.

Believable15 Unbelievable3

There was much less long ball against Brizzle on saturday. We were ok in second half, not good by any stretch but I do see some small signs of improvement. Played on he ground for a 15-20 min patch in the second half consistently, put them under pressure and the goal came. Problem is as I see it is that the players are used to looking up rather than down for the ball. Also needs for NW is prove he is more than a one trick pony and promote/expand on those better passages of play. Also drop Brown and play, well anybody else really. Man is a liability.

I have stayed away whilst bates has been in charge but I am now making the effort to goto some games. will target Feb, GFH have reduced prices nd I feel we now have to put a bit of effort in and turn up.

Like any relationship that's hitting ups and downs, We as lifelong leeds supporters moan and nothing is right. Yet we wouldn't be without either the other half or our beloved Leeds United. We bitch and moan into our beer. Yes we have had a turbulent rollercoaster ride over a number of years. However, I say to you constant moaning bitching and whining supposed supporters-- Get a life! Or go support Man Utd. I moan and think things to myself, but I'm constantly optimistic it will all turn out ok someday.

message to leeds fans who use news now. Please do not give that west ham blogger any more views, he is really starting to wind me up. I just don't understand his obsession with leeds. He is a west ham fan but writes about us daily? he thinks he knows leeds inside out which is the worst thing about it, He knows NOTHING.! Believable20 Unbelievable2

Do you not think that by commenting that he winds you up you are only fueling his obsession. It's pathetic that anyone would be so obsessed with another team... imagine his dreary home life. My wife only just tolerates my obsession with LUFC, I could only imagine what she'd say if I spent hours obsessing about another team just to wind people up!
Look lads give him the attention he deserves... none. If you simply ignore the crank and completely ignore everything he says (no comments, no agrees or disagrees) he will go away.

I know someone in the Watford press office, another club he targets but not as often as us.

They as well as Leeds press office looked into getting his blog closed down but it seems that he hasn't broken any of the rules of that site so they can't do anything about it. Unless he posts something very deflamatory (and he seems to know enough about the law to know just where the line is) his blog can't be closed, something to do with freedom of speech etc.

Best thing for us fans is to do what above poster says and just ignore his blog, no point getting wound up over this silly prat.

Can't believe what I have been hearing this last week, and even more unbelievable is the amount of negativity amongst so many of my fellow leeds fans. Its disgraceful. You want bates to no longer been in charge, you get it! You want a manager who wants the best for the football club, you get it! you want a team that has a chance of getting a play off place, in my eyes we've got it! At the age of 17, the majority of my life has been spent following a falling club. Over the last 4 years we have once again began to rise, and even with a few hiccups over the last 2 years, we are still in a good position. What i'am now struggling to understand is now that the club has the foundations to push on, it is the negativity of fans which is holding us back. We should be standing by the club, the owners, the manager and most importantly the players. I'm in dismay to the fact that fans are no longer with the team through both its 'ups and downs', but what I do know is that I will still be wearing the badge, and singing the chants no matter of the circumstances, through thick and thin. In Warnock I trust, and more importantly in Leeds I have faith. (Ed please put this on the main rumour page for all to see) {Ed013's Note - Its not a rumour mate}

Dear Mr Haigh,
Do you really think fans are going to come back on empty promises again. We had bigger numbers in league 1, which says everything about how far we haven't come. The squad from that league was by far better then any squad we have had in the championship. So how does this make sence? When you move up a league, your team is supposed to get better not worse.
You publicly state that Mr Bates has done a great job at LUFC. I ask you this, who has Mr Bates done a great job for? 10.000 fans seem to think differently to what you have stated and the other 18 or so thousand are ether stuck with there season ticket or debating every Saturday, ear ache from wife or watch dads army. I know I want to go to the games and watch the team I love but not when we pay high prices, for toothless, no tactics, oap footy. I do understand that some players can give you that edge in there mid thirtys but they are few and far between and deffinatly not Brown, even Eddie Grey can not see what Mr Warnock see's when he's playing.
Mr Haigh, We as fans are the most loyalist fans in the country but please do not mistake this for blindness. We just want to be treated like the loyal fans we are. We do not ask for silly money spent but surely we can exspect a couple of million pound players, given the size of the club. Mr Haigh if you did this and showed the fans that the times have really changed. Then I know me and a thousand others would be back because we would start to believe in the club and the new board. Like the saying goes give a little, get a lot.
I really hope that you do read this Mr haigh because I don't think lowering prices is really going to get fans back through the door. Don't get me wrong, it's a good start but what fans want see is progress on the pitch and in the transfer window. Mr Warnock tells us that we are fans that believe, the glass is half empty, to tell you the truth, we believe we don't even have a glass to fill.
I know your a Leeds fan Mr Haigh. So you must know what we have had to put up with and how many players have gone. I do feel things from your end have gone too quiet and knowbody knows what GFH's plans are, so the future for us does not look that much better, until we are showen actions or told a plan of action.
We just want to believe that times have changed and are club is going to wake up and make a push for the promise land. I don't care if it takes 3 yrs, aslong as we are looking like we want it.
If you do read this Mr Haigh, thankyou!
Next stop spurs and the hope of new players.

As you say they were not at the game watching the crap on show, more fool us for beng there! Think I wiil give this rubbish the swerve myself until this person who s managing us is gone.

Agree17 Disagree3

Every time somone turns up to support Leeds, they are doing just that, supporting Leeds and putting money into the club; whether it is once during the season or every match.
You sound like a digruntled pleb who has no other commitments and is quick to open your fat mouth where it is not needed. If you want to critisize anyone have a look at the manager and the players who are only in it for the dosh, the more you go and pay silly money the longer it prolongs the agony for fans and incompitence within the club at the minute.
Fans will always be around, players and managers will move on. What you need to do is stand loyal to other fans.

Agree14 Disagree2

Agree entirely. When we played Liverpool 6 cars lost on Dewsbury road in beeston stopped me for directions to the ground. Each car was rammed with 'Leeds fans'. Once a season fans are not what we need. We need loyal fans

Agree1 Disagree5

This is pathetic. If a fan buys a shirt, a ticket or the most expensive program in Britain then in my eyes that person is giving money to Leeds United therefore a Leeds United supporter.
The difference is that you have die-hard fans and your normal fan. A fan is a fan.

Sorry Neil, it is easy for someone who will get paid very well whether you produce the goods or not and to be blase' about what Leeds fans should or shouldn't do in this time of hardship is beond me. You have no loyalty to the club and have been quoted in the past as to not liking the club, you will walk away rich with cash as Leeds fans scrimp and save and do without to watch their beloved team. Long after you have gone we will still be here this is just astop gap to you to get you to your retirement. Win lose or draw matters not to you. I think it's about time Mr Warnock shut his mouth and concentrate on this under par football than telling me my glass is half empty. It's my glass after all and stop trying to deflect the situation. We all know about propaganda stunts.

Believable17 Unbelievable1

20 Jan 2013 10:33:12
So the leeds fans are glass half empty then Mr Warnock.
OK let's examine some points.
Every transfer window the fans cross their fingers and hope we can get some decent players to get excited about.
We're told that the club will be looking to strengthen the squad.
What we actually get is "the agent was too greedy" "their club are asking too much" and the latest ones "I've got a couple of decent signings i'm expecting to come in this week" followed a couple of days later by "I don't expect any new arrivals this week" and the infamous "icings on the cake" speech.
We end up with rejects that nobody else wants and a retirement village for professional footballers.
Meanwhile every transfer window a crowd favourite is sold or their contract is allowed to run out/come so close to running out that you've got to sell or their just forced out of the door.
Delph, Beckford, Johnson, Schmeichel, Gradel, Howson, Clayton, Snodgrass.
2 weeks into this window, absolutely ZERO new players have arrived and you, Mr Warnock look suspiciously like you are trying to hound out another crowd favourite slating Becchio after every game.
Meanwhile our saviours the new owners, at this very important part of the season must be playing darts with Lord Lucan and Shergar.
The team think their playing american football passing it to Kenny AKA the quarterback who then hail mary's it down to the other end of the pitch. The players then look like the seagulls in finding nemo looking up at the ball as it glides through the air shouting "mine, mine, mine, mine, mine".
We scrape a win against the second bottom club, we don't even manage to get a shot on target against the manager-less bottom of the table club in a derby match.
Then we have to listen to your arrogant mush telling us what a wonderful job you are doing.
In case you didn't notice I fall into the half empty fan category.
So how can this change
1. KEEP our better players.
2. GHF, GFH, BHS, VHS, Triple H, whatever the new owners are called, please let us know what's going on.
3. Lower the cost to attend matches, especially for juniors/families, survey outside the ground on matchdays and get feedback. Liase with the fans and make it feel like we are all one.
4. Warnock shut your cakehole (you too Jones). Stop having a pop at the player, fans, club etc etc
5. Remind the players that the police are at the ground for security purposes. They are not there to arrest the players for illegal activity like skillfulness, flair, pace or keeping the ball on the ground. Contrary to what you and the players seem to think, these attributes are not only legal but are positively encouraged and are not a breach of FA rules either.
Complete stages 1-5 and not only will my glass not be half empty it will runeth over
jt-lufc

Believable30 Unbelievable4

Well said JT. Add to this the battle-weary comment I'm sure I've heard from Grayson, Bates, Warnock et al in recent years (recent weeks in the case of the current management) that we are only interested in making signings which will improve the team, not just squad players. So yesterday Hall, Tate and Tonge didn't start (not that I necessarily want them to) so they hardly fit the description of players who will improve the team. NW just loves the sound of his voice and there's no consistency or continuity in his various ramblings these days, other than his assertion that the majority of the fans are backing him, which I think he is woefully wrong about!

Agree15 Disagree0

Very good piece of journalism. Well done.

Agree4 Disagree0

It could well be that the players that are turning us down just don't want to play for Warnock, that is why he keeps signing his old mates

Agree5 Disagree0

I agree it's time for some decent investment in the squad, but some of the lamenting for the departed really makes me laugh!

Clayton - nondescript midfielder, had half a dozen good games for Leeds. In the eyes of himself and some fans this made him into some kind of legend. Wasn't sorry to see him go. Currently being very nondescript for Huddersfield.

Delph - not improved since playing for us in League One. If you don't believe me watch a recording of the Bradford v Villa League Cup semi first leg.

Schmeichel - used Leeds as a stepping stone, had no intention of staying any longer than one season. Can't blame the club for selling this one.

Howson - brilliant one week, awful the next. Far too inconsistent. Last seen being outclassed at Anfield.

Snodgrass - see Howson.

Johnson - personally always rated this lad, but very few other Leeds fans did. Really makes me laugh now when I hear people saying he was a big loss.

Gradel and Beckford - now these two we really do miss, would love them back. Again though, interesting how they weren't always that popular when actually here.

Therefore think it's a little strange to refer to the above as "crowd favourites". There seems to be a fair number who'd also be quite happy to see Becchio leave.

Players always seem to go up in people's estimation once they've left.

Nigel should be given the job. Sack NW I'm sick of this OAP playing style. Just because he's retiring this year doesn't mean we have to play like everyone is due for it. He dosent care about getting promoted or playing anything like good football. I mean realistically we ain't going up this season so why keep him when he is supposed to go at end of season
Never put off till tomorrow what everybody wants you to do today
Oh and where the bloody hell are gfh. Bit of communication wouldn't hurt. Gfh= gone on fishing holiday

I think Warnock as to play the same 11 that started the 2nd half in the cup. A bit of a reward to performing well .usually Warnock just plays the better player even when they are not putting in a good performances kind of favoritism .we had a team that were basically playing there proper position for a change in the cup .

It makes me wonder if Warnock makes the players sit down to watch videos of games, if he does I bet he's telling them your'e passing it too much, give to paddy and hoof it upfield FFS.

3 years ago when we were complaining about ticket prices, bates said "if you want to watch premier league football then you have to pay premier league prices" since then, schmeical, howson, gradel, beckford, snodgrass have all left for decent money, we've been paying premier league prices and all we've got is a hotel and a load of Pompey rejects. We are now more than 2 weeks into the transfer market and still no signings. We really are been taken for a bunch of mugs, I personally don't think anything will change with the new lot, they are happy to bleed us dry and line their pockets, selling all our assets and keeping us mid table with an average turnout. I for one am sick of watching this rubbish!

My friend I to some extent share your frustration, however I think we need to cut gfh a little slack. Still very early days for them. They do seem to be listening to some extent, a couple of games in feb half term prices significantly reduced. P'boro and B'pool matches big reductions. I hope we see a few new faces in the next week. The team we see at present has mostly been put together under BATESENOMICS. ie, pay peanuts-get monkeys. Good to see the likes of Ross Barkley albeit on load, hopefully we can keep him for a bit longer. Played football on the ground for long periods today, and yes, at times predicable hoofball was noted. I am a little more optimistic at the moment, although not nieve to think we are top 2 (no chance of this)and at best a moderate chance of play offs. Was at one stage worried we may be in a relegation battle but I feel this is now unlikely

Time for all of the stay aways ( myself included) to start going down ER.
Atmosphere was awful for most of the match, better 2nd half.

Another 3/4k in the ground will make a massive difference, and the players definitely responded as the crowd picked up.

If you have not been for a while for understandable reasons then get down in feb, lets get ER bouncing again.

It will take an awful lot of bleeding to get their 50+ million back. They know that the only way is for the club to get promoted although their silence is deafening.

Which players have GFH sold. Answer none. And if your talking about Becchio going well my personal opinion is that he can go. His control is woeful and without 10 penalties his goal return would be poor. Yes I know the service he gets is appalling but with say £3m from his sale and we get a striker, a fast winger and a midfielder who can pass then the team will improve 100%.JD

£3 million wake up Bates sells our best players for a lot less than that to line his pockets, before you say Bates isn't in charge now, he is till the end of the season.

Although it doesn't take much to rise up the league in this division I have kind of accepted the fact thatthat is unlikely. However I would still like to see 1 decent exciting signing during this transfer window. Not because I think it would take us up but because it would show ambition. Not just to the fans but the players as well. Because we have some quality players and it would be a shame to see them being poached by other clubs because they can't see us going up. If the board show a bit of willing and ambition I will start to feel less like we could end up selling our talent
