The last time the Germans and Italians worked together then things did not pan out too well😂 let's hope it works out for us. Onwards and upwards let's get the boys ready for a great season. Wonder what the squad will look like?

Spotted Redders this afternoon as he was walking past our house (he lives round the corner) whilst I was doing some gardening. He stopped to have a chat when I explained I was a big Leeds fan having supported them for 50 odd years. I asked him how things were going and he said not very well really. I asked him if he would be going back to manage the academy and he said it was highly unlikely as he needed to move on. He said 'that's football'. I told him he'd done a great job and he said at least the young players have come through and we managed to avoid relegation.
We shook hands and I wished him good luck for wherever he ends up. Felt really sorry for him after all he's done and not surprisingly he seemed quite down about it all. But 'that's football'.
Good luck Redders. We owe you big time.

Well firstly I would like to welcome rosler to our shrine and wish him good luck let's give him time to settle in and a fair crack of the whip before the doom merchants start secondly thanks redders for your loyality to our club and trying your best in very awkward times at er I personelly hope u stay and carry on in your original role as your an asset to us but don't blame u moving on after the way u were publically assasinated by cellino good luck!

The bus has left so good luck to you but no way will you ever be a premiership boss.
Hope your ego allows you to go back to whence you came.
We need you looking after the kids and you must be allowed to keep your salary level .
If MC chops it back then I for one will never go to E R again.
Good try just not good enough.

{Ed013's Note -He was rubbish enough to save Leeds from relegation}

20 May 2015 20:26:58
Sorry Ed013s that was down to Thompson, everybody says, even Redfearn, we played carp last eight games because Thommo went.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed013's Note - There was other factors to that, it wasn't just down to Thommo}

20 May 2015 20:40:24
Bit harsh , maybe naive at times but certainly not rubbish I for one hope he stays as he's leeds through and through but dnt expect him to under the circumstances who would? And regarding rosler nt a bad appointment could of been worse let's get behind him and see what happens

Agree0 Disagree0

20 May 2015 21:30:49
"Save Leeds from relegation", we were never in the relegation zone to begin with. Anyway I think we had a better team than 15th place and a lot of our wins were very lucky and achieved through Mowatt wonder goals rather than out playing opposition.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed013's Note - So at Christmas Leeds didn't look in trouble and heading for a relegation fight?!}

20 May 2015 22:21:39
Everybody says. Who's everybody? How can anyone say for sure that Thompson leaving was the telling factor in a decline in form, or him arriving for the mini run we went on. We were in dire nando's when NR took over and that was the fault of the owner after his managerial choice at start of the season and too many new players arriving from Serie B. I am amazed that some don't give Redfern the credit he deserves. After all he bought in Thompson to help him out just like any other manager does. Fergie always had a top coach alongside him to help him out and he done alright if my memory serves me right. I am not saying that NR is the answer for Leeds going forward but i, and many many others, recognize what he did for Leeds in a short, but important, period of history. We have championship football, instead of Div 1, to look forward to next season thanks to Neil Redfearn. MOT.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 May 2015 22:15:14
A couple of defeats over Christmas does not make a relegation battle and you can't go down without being in the bottom 3. We were safely in mid table when Redfearn took over, though you'd think we were 10 points adrift at the bottom, the way some fans are going on. And no, I never once thought we'd go down, even after the Derby defeat when most fans had us relegated.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed013's Note - Like it or not, the run that Leeds were on and the way the team was playing they were heading into trouble after Christmas. The run was put together, the tactics were changed and therefore Redfearn and Thommo prevented any potential relegation dogfight. If you never thought that relegation was a possibility for Leeds after Christmas then you were on a different planet to me and thousands more fans as relegation was mentioned more and more}

20 May 2015 23:23:46
Sory Cork but everyone was blaming Cellino for suspending Thommo, when he did not, and that was why our form dropped off because Thommo had gone. Personally think we had a lot of lucky results, played better as a team but no tactics. The defeats were waiting to happen, Thommo or not

Agree0 Disagree0

21 May 2015 00:41:05
I know what you are saying Bige as we did grind out a few results, but you must remember that NR took over a good way into the season and it was all about results because we were in dire straits. He didn't have a pre season to get his ideas across and let's be honest he had a squad that was terribly unbalanced with no width and a severe lack of pace. When people say his tactics never changed and he didn't use subs well, i'd like to know what they would have done different. Personally i'd have played Antenucci more often over Morison but that's about it. Look, we ain't all going to agree on everything but surely we must all acknowledge that Neil Redfearn had a big part in keeping us up.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 May 2015 00:48:55
I agree BIGE, The m,boro result as an example, we were totally out played, any other day we would have lost that game and it could have been 5 or 6 in the onion bag. I still think we were always safe but may still have been a nail biter. I liked NR, but yes he was a bit out of his depth. I would have liked to have seen Gus made manager/coach, but good luck to Rosler, and I hope our fans back him.

I hope rosler doesn't avoid playing the foreign signings like redfearn did, redfearn chose to put Dawson om the bench instead of sloth, said ngoyi played really well on debut and then ditched him, when silvestri was fit again he didn't play him, del fabro, adryan and Montenegro been superb for u21s but he chose Lewis Walters who has scored far less than montenegro, doukara and antenucci won us games at the start of the season but were ditched for morison, hopefully he will bring sloth doukara and antenucci back into it and nit play youngsters who he claims are completely his products to make him look good

You are right leedsyar. It actually supports comments made by Colin months after his exit of the divide and an unhealthy rivalry between the 1st team and the youth.

Hopefully your will sort this out. More warmth needs to come into the club generally.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 May 2015 22:18:49
The one thing I was disappointed with under Neil's reign, is how little Dawson and other youngsters featured. When he was in the u21s he was raving about Dawson every week and he questioned why Darko didn't pick him, yet he never did himself. Phillips only made his debut as Austin was suspended, and as soon as he was back, Phillips was back on the bench. Yes, I know Byram, Mowatt and Cook featured heavily, but Byram and Mowatt were already established first team players and Cook was picked by all 3 coaches, not just Redfearn.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 May 2015 18:57:30
Although Rosler probably wouldn't have been my first choice, he is a better appointment than I expected - I expected someone we'd never heard of. Hopefully he will be allowed to bring his own people & players in to work with & can have a good crack at the season

I must say that the name was not on anybodys radar but he certainly came across as a calm, firm (they both did) figure. let's hope the young guns (and Sol) see this as a positive move and quickly put pen to paper; having also the desired effect on all those new recruits we approach.
If it is to be believed and Massimo takes a few paces back then the circus may have just left town, leaving behind an actual football club.
With all the backroom signings in place then we have a good chance of Massimo going off for a lengthy ban and returning to a succesful (premiership) team.
It seems as though the next few weeks will be full of anouncements with the door swinging both ways. MOT

As the old adage goes, never let the truth get in the way of a good story.

With that in mind, and given that I am completely fluent in several languages, allow me to present some amazing spooky facts for you, that may or may not be completely fictitious.

Spooky Fact 1:
I support Leeds United, and I drive a German car. A new head coach is German.
(wierd huh, ecto-plasm everywhere, right?)

Spooky Fact 2:
"Neil Redfearn" in English is just a name. But in German, it quite literally translates as "Tactically Bloomin' Useless".

Spooky Fact 3:
"Hey, Baldy" in English is just an friendly jibe (or potentially an insult). But in German, it quite literally translates as "Leeds United are the best team in the land".

Spooky Fact 4:
"Uwe Rosler" in English is just a name. But in German, it quite literally translates as "It's alright lads, I completely know the English Championship, and I'm more than happy to have a short tenure working for a complete nutter, because I love football, especially Yorkshire football. You guys are the best, and I personally guarantee to get you into the Premiership by 2017".

Spooky Fact 5:
"Massimo Cellino" in English is just a name. But in German, it has no meaning.

Ok, need to slow down on the caffeine today. It's causing me to think I can speak foreign languages, when I can't really speak English too well!

BIGE

You were right in your last comment on UWE to my post, having looked at his record in depth now he seems to be a decent pick for us.
His record at Brentford was good, worked with a sporting director so gets that bit, wigan did well in first season as you say play-offs, cup semi, just first 13 games next season they were in bottom 3 but guess that can happen.

He does seem to have good knowledge/contacts in Euro football and also has used his prem contacts to help wigan with loans so all in all he would seem to be better placed than Redders to be fair.

So thanks Neil you did your best for us, respect for what you have done over the years but now I will be fully behind Uwe and hopefully he will be able to control the dressing room and not react to all the dumb things MC says as he has been around the block a bit more than Redders and seems a man who can take care of himself.

Hopefully after today we can start talking about what players we can realistically hope to get in (and not just from Italy).

Looking a bit brighter for me

Believable3 Unbelievable0

20 May 2015 14:37:42
DG good points, but its quite clear from history that he is just there to coach the team.
His contacts and knowledge in Europe and the Premiership will be of no use. MC scouts, vets and brings in the players he wants in the squad. No-one else. He picks the back room staff No-one else. Decides on who is worth it. No-one else.

So if Uwe does start to try and influence these aspects I don't see him lasting.

If he is in the bottom 3 after 5 games, let alone 13 I don't see him lasting. If he galvanises the squad and get them playing, I don't see him lasting. And if he uses the kids and not any players MC signs I don't see him lasting.

The problem here is not MC "passion" nor his "football head" its the fact he wants control of everything and until a coach that can fully work under his terms, I can see us get through at least another 3 next season.

don't get me wrong, I appreciate all he has done for the club financially, but I have a real problem with the amount he wants to control at the club and his interference. And that's what will de the deciding factors in whether we succeed next season.

To summarise, if MC let's Rosler do his job properly, we will succeed. If not, then another crappy season.

Agree3 Disagree1

20 May 2015 17:39:41
Agree DG. we seem, to highlight the negative aspects of anyone we get. Apart from last season he has done well in his career and there's no reason he won't do well here. With a bit of luck Cellino will get garden leave again, which I think he expects as he is sorting out who will run what part of the club while he is away. Looking forward to next season, icing on cake would be if he could get Gunnar Hallle as his assistant again

Cellino did not suspend Thommo, Salerno did for good reason if its true he called him a retard, any one using that phrase should be gone. And with your comment you are saying we have Thommo to thank for getting us to safety and Redders is useless without him.
If any one such as politician, police, social worker had called some one a retard it would be in the papers never mind sacked, but you think its fine for Thommo to say it.

And you think it's ok for Cellino to ridicule Redfearn publicly?

Agree1 Disagree0

20 May 2015 10:21:34
Sorry guys this may be a bit long winded but need to get out my reasons for not wanting Redfearn as coach.
Was he tactically good no. Played same formation for every game, same subs same time every game. Criticised his keeper for not telling defence to play higher up field, should that not be done in training, or better still you are on the touch line you tell them.Plays Ant out of position then says he had a bad game. Played pretty football in middle of park but no cutting edge and that never changed and was not likely to.
Did he have control of the squad. Obviously not when you have players going to press saying they feel sorry for you, he should have told Morrison to put the cones out. Then there's the six, and if it was true then that's half a team that had no faith in him. Then his assistant slags his boss off without his knowledge. Thommo should have gone to him first so it shows how much respect Thommo had for him. Or was Redders lying when he said he had no idea why he had been suspended, some mate if he did not tell him. The only players coming out to defend him are the ones wanting new contracts and saying what they think the fans want to hear. The true Leeds players are quiet because they play for the club not Redders.
Was he good for the club did we improve under him. definatley not. Apart from our winning streak, and we were very lucky to come away with anything from 3 or 4 of those games, we stood still. We should have finished higher up the table with the squad we have. Rotherham game we should have gone out to entertain but did not same old same old. Every time he had a post match interview we ended up with bad headlines on the back pages. Why did he feel the need to discuss anything but the game, publicity seeking, sympathy votes?
When Cellino called him a baby I think he was saying he was new to the job and naive and taking the wrong advice. All that is true.
Redfearn took charge at a bad time and we ended up safe in mid table, I thank him for that. Is he the way forward, no. let's face it if West Ham had offered him a job he would have been off. Even Chesterfield did not want him. And as for loyalty, look to Byram not Redders.
When you are Leeds you support and protect. In my opinion Redfearn had a different agenda, hope the lad finds success as a coach but he is not for us now

Rosler made comments a few months ago about Redders being perfect for the job at the club. I do believe if this was any normal situation Rosler would have a word with Redders and ask him to stay on as assistant, however with MC in charge and the fact that no-one but MC has any clought and with the way Redders has been treated there is little or no chance he will stay on.

That or MC has had a word and lined him up as assistant.

Another point, normally when a new coach / manager are appointed, talks of backroom staff start. But in all the appointments MC has made no back room staff have been discussed. Fortifies the fact that MC runs a tight and bare minimum ship.
