I'm very on the fence at the moment, I want us to have a new manager who can implement the stability and style to take us up. but redders is doing so dan well and making me happier to be a leeds fan then I've felt in a long time.hmmmm, if it was I, I would give redders the job but Cellino has proven smart so far so I trust his decision- if milanic doesn't work out maybe give it to redfearn on a full time job

Ed wasnt there today but was sharpe on bench and adryan nt used would be nice to see what he's about I know u shouldn't change a winning formular but what's your opinion? Mot

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed013's Note - Sharp wasn't great last week and Neil thought Doukara and Antenucci offered more together. He is waiting on Adryan as he doesn't want to rush him, although I expected him to come on for the last 5-10 mins}

Don't want to criticise Redfearn but he should have subbed berrardi when we went three up as he was at risk of being sent off. The sending off removed the opportuity to blood Adryan which was disappointing on a day of numerous positives

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought Adrian might have come on for last few minutes too, but I'm thinking Redders might not have wanted to risk injury or might have brought him on if ther had been 11 men. Don't be too harsh on Beradi about sending off - the second fould was no way a card- I was sitting a few yards away. Ref looked at linesman who had not even given a foul, made a wrong decision and produced a card thanks to exaggerated reaction of Udders player

Agree0 Disagree0

I too was in the East stand and agree was not a sending off however the risk of Berardi being sent off by a poor referee was always there and should have been nulified with a timely sub

Where is the guy who kept posting 'pay peanuts get monkeys'? Where is he? We have paid peanuts and got quality young players. Thank goodness for the don and his talent spotting ability. Doukara? Class. Bellusci? Quality. Antenuci? I'd have his babies. Bianchi? Are you having a laugh, he has it more than Kylie. Bye bye Mrs L I am leaving you to set up home with the don.

Simply awesome. I have not felt this excited or confident for a long time, well, since the O'Leary era. My word, how much credit goes to Mr Salerno and Cellino, on the outside we panic bought close to the season, on the inside we bought very well and to build for the future, quality young players who have gelled amazingly quickly with addition from our youth. Daily Mail, Mirror, The Sun, everyone who belittles Leeds, choke on your words, we are on the rise so suck it up. Redders has begun a revolution that is going to run and run, big respect

Went to the game today and very impressed with the performance, well done to all the lads. All players played well especially the 4 non MC signings. Austin, Pearce, Warnock & the young lad Cook who had a blinding 1st half. Defence wasn't really tested but the only weak link is possibly Beradi. He looked nervous at times when Bunn was running at him & maybe he just needs a good run in the team to build his confidence.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Nonsense. You weren't there. The new lads did really well, they all did. Berardi should have been subbed at ht. I called it but so what, we won!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed013's Note - I don't think the 2nd was a booking. The ref was blinded by 2 Leeds players and took a guess}

Also note fir ed 001 good job Liverpool are doing well with super Henderson who needs swarez? They should buy deplh.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - yawn, is that the best you have? You do realise Delph was terrible today as well? This is nothing to do with Suarez, everything to do with a crap keeper and poor management, constantly chopping and changing a side in need of gelling. We miss Studger far more than Jaws, we have a terrible record without Sturridge but never had any problems when the cannibal was out. Still make the most of it, it must be nice being midtable mediocrity in the lower leagues, where no one can see you and nobody cares how you get on..... =op (Having said that, if Rodgers doesn't stop messing about, we will be finding that out next season ourselves!).}

Same keeper and manager as last year is it not I see two differences one is swarez the other is Liverpool picking up points. Gutted as I had sterling as captain in fantasy team have to chop things might bring in Henderson he is that good

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought this was a Leeds banter site. If it aint, then please advise as I have a load of comments about a premiership and continental clubs.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Sep 2014 23:40:51
Ed001 you think Sturridge is more important to a team than Suarez??
Ludacrious statement.

But far more importantly 3 points today and some great football played. I think Bianchi & Doukara will have very good careers and hope they spend the best part of it with us.

Almost forgot Cook will 100% be a full international within 2 years but obviously not as good or influential as Henderson lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - how it is ludicrous? Check the respective records of the team with and without Sturridge, then check it with and without Suarez. Amazing how people who don't even watch the team think they know more about it than someone who watches their every game! Stick to MOTD and the bull they spout, because it is clearly where you got your ignorant opinion from. It is easy to look good in highlights, and Suarez was a sensational highlight reel, but there is more to the game than that. Suarez had little in the way of pace to force opposing defences to drop deep, Sturridge is lightning and so they have to drop off, creating space for the midfield to work. Also meaning there is less support for opposing attackers as the midfield have to drop off to keep in touch with the defence. That gives time for Gerrard, who is not a DM by any stretch of the imagination, to pick a pass. It was shown against West Ham how much he struggles without that, as that was the main issue, he was marked out of the game, left no space to operate in and it resulted in a terrible performance and defeat.

One day, when you know something about football, you might be able to stop being a knob and learn to read. Maybe then you will understand the difference between being a vital cog and being a great player, as never once did I say Hendo was great. Sammy Lee was vital to Liverpool for years, he was barely even a good player, but he was vital to the way we played back then. Modern day fans only know the game through numbers on FM or FIFA, that is why you are all so clueless about the actual game and what being vital to a team actually is. Sad trying to have a convo with people whose opinions are so ill informed they are obviously garnered from a few pundits on MOTD or in the papers.}

ED
Think biggest problem is you got 4 so called defenders + Gerrard at the back, sat too deep and asking teams to come at you. From corners ALL the defenders are doing this "zonal marking" opposition player makes a run and the defenders are looking at each other should I mark him or you!!
Not got the foggiest why he bought Lambert if he's only giving him 10 mins every other match!!

Leeds Leeds Leeds ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it would help if there were 4 defenders at the back, but Rodgers has both full backs flying forward and having Gerrard drop in between the two centre backs. He is a lot of things Gerrard, but he is no defender and he is not playing the role well at all. As for Lambert, you could say the same of all the summer buys, Rodgers has no idea how to use any of them to get the most from them. Admittedly he didn't choose all the buys, but he still should be able to see them in training and judge how to get the most out of them on the pitch. There is a clear issue with the transfer policy at the club, when you receive a huge sum for selling one player, the best use isn't to go out and buy 9 players with it! That is just asking for issues settling them in, and you don't get the time in England to settle players in easily. Oh and when you have a lot of players needing to gel, you can't then chop and change the team completely from game to game. And if a player is tired after 3 games of the season, then you really need to look at the training routines you are putting him through, rather than resting him, ala Sterling against Villa. Bad management this season has been a major problem. Rodgers seems to have completely forgotten the lessons of early last season and is just repeating the same idiot mistakes.}

Love it!
I reckon they should get rid of Rogers, obviously has no idea what he is doing eh Ed001
Hendo needs to add heading to his repertoire as he got stiffed for the first goal.
Still think Liverpool will rip most teams apart and will defo finish in the top half!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I never said that, he just needs to learn from his mistakes. He did the same things at the beginning of last season, it was only as the season wore on Liverpool started to get going. I was hoping he would just carry on as he left off, rather than revert to the same mistakes. Still, he is a young manager still learning his way in the game, you just have to hope that he does learn when they are your manager.
Henderson is not good in the air, that is true, but he shouldn't be the one doing man marking anyway, not on an opposition centre back who is always going to beat him. Beggars belief that Liverpool keep persisting with that, rather than have one of the better headers of the ball marking the opposition centre halves.}

21 Sep 2014 11:46:48
I apologise in advance for length of comment but needed to get my point across.

Ed001 I thought your earlier comment was ludicrous but you've exceeded yourself.

You want to use stats no problem since stats can be used to prove almost anything, 40% of people know that but seriously.

2013/2014 Suarez v Sturridge

Suarez - 33 league games 31 league goals
Sturridge - 29 league games 21 league goals

Suarez - 12 assists
Sturridge - 7 assists

Suarez - 87 chances created
Sturridge - 29 chances created

Suarez - 4 times Liverpool player of the month
Sturridge - 2 times Liverpool player of the month
(Voted by your own fans who I'm sure watch every minute of every game and as many open training sessions they can get to)

Suarez - Almost every individual honour possible from numerous player of year awards to top scorer awards
Sturridge - No individual awards

A strikers job is to score goals and when possible help others to score goals. I think those stats shows who was more important to Liverpool last year.

You abuse Rodgers for poor management yet 2nd is the highest you have ever finished in the Premiership under any manager and is the closest you have ever being (or will be) to winning the premiership.

Lastly why is alright for you to use abusive language yet when anyone else does it gets edited I won't lower myself to that because I'm a LEEDS fan not a Liverpool one.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - so you still don't understand that football is a team game? That says it all and shows why you are still not able to understand a simple point. As for abusive language, grow up, you want to see the crap your foul mouthed fans constantly try and post on here that we editors have to wade through each day, if you think that is abuse. Sensitive little souls on here when it is given back though aren't you? Pathetic how much you lot want to be mollycoddled, when you are happy to give it out all day long. Now give it a rest, you haven't a clue. Those stats showed nothing. Well other than how little you actually understand the reality of a team sport.}

Well I like J B M, and I like Ed001 - but which is best?
There's only one way to find out .

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Sep 2014 13:57:54
Ed001 You contradict yourself in almost everything you say you seem to be one of those typical Liverpool fans who knows better than the whole world despite not being able to back any argument up and resort to throwing out abuse rather than an intelligent well reasoned though out response.

If it's a team game why do you bang on about missing Sturridge surely with it being a team game you have plenty of other quality players to come in and step up to the plate.

Yes football is a team game but made up of individuals and almost every single team in the entire world has certain players which are incredibly difficult to replace but your sheer stubbornness or possibly lack of football knowledge won't allow you to understand that Sturridge isn't anywhere near on the same level as Suarez.

If it was Sturridge you had sold to Barcelona you'd be shouting about he wasn't that good and you have still Suarez.

It's unfortunate but your mentality will never change your never wrong and everything you say is gospel.

Thank god our Ed has the capacity to have an intelligent debate and realises we all can make mistakes.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - seriously? How am I contradicting myself? Perhaps you would care to explain how? I have said all along Suarez is the better player, but again you are far too obsessed with your own intelligence to be able to read what I have said and understand it. The difference is that Sturridge is far more integral to the style of play, as is Henderson. It is not my fault you fail to grasp a simple concept and resort to idiotic comments which don't even have anything to do with the discussion in hand anyway. We all know Suarez scored and assisted more, but you fail to mention that they came against weaker sides and that they were normally in a heavy win, with little actual overall difference to the result. Whereas Sturridge was often scoring the odd goal that made a draw become a win. His pace also allows the midfield to have the space to work. Difficult to see that kind of thing on MOTD though I am sure. There is a reason most opposition fans were calling Suarez a flat track bully last season, despite his impressive stats, he wasn't doing it in the big games.}

21 Sep 2014 16:18:41
Ed001 - You've amazingly done it agian you've managed to contradict yourself within another statement.

You say Suarez didn't do it in the big games yet he managed 5 goals against teams who finished in the top 6 last season whereas the prolific Sturridge managed a whopping 2, not much of a return from such an integral part of a team.

But I think your probably right Sturridge was far more important than Suarez to Liverpool last season that's why he won the Liverpool fans player of the year and the Liverpool players player of the year. oh wait no that was Suarez.

Guess your on your own there lad with your opinion your own fans and your own players disagree with you (not to mention probably every pundit on the planet), but hey never mind everyone else could be wrong and you still have Henderson.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - being important is not the same as being the best player, can you not read, or are you just a bit simple? How is it differing when I have said Suarez was the better player? That doesn't make him the most important. The goalkeeper position is vital, but that doesn't mean it is the best player on the team does it? Sorry is this a little difficult for you to follow? Obviously I am wasting my time trying to explain, you are clearly incapable of understanding this simple concept. Please just give up, you are just wasting my time with your ridiculous replies. This is just idiocy now. It is pointless wasting my time discussing something with someone who is incapable of understanding anything said to them. You may as well just make up in your head what you think I have said in reply in future, as you pretty much do that anyway, as you clearly are not reading my replies. This is just boring now, move on, because it is pointless.}

Don't want to hash up old stuff as hock gone and we have gone on to better things but stand by what I said and glad we are doing well and think we will go up

Agree0 Disagree0

BM you actually had us relegated after our first game. Now you've got us going up. What a turn around. I mean you no malice but it was a bit of a stupid comment so early in the season don't you think?

MM

Agree0 Disagree0

Not stupid at all. Head coach or managers are most important person my example is palace under Holloway religated under pulls were europa league. Leeds under hock religated imo hinder decent coach going up. What makes me possibly right, hocks record at forest green and our results since left. People can dissagree and arguments for or against but I think this our squad and Mc are great hock is able to take any team down think far from stupid

Agree0 Disagree0

MM
Quite a few had us relegated and spouting we need to spend money, these foreign players no-one has EVER heard of won't help us. (We need PROVEN) championship players, you pay peanuts you get monkeys!!
IM not going to ER until we sign quality.
Why sell Ross and not replace him bla bla bla
The closet must be bursting at the seams ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

True Andy. I'm not the kinda guy to say I told you so as I also know that two or three bad results and all the positivity will soon vanish. Myself and others (you included) said that we would improve and not go down. We signed virtually a new squad and if they hit the ground running that would have been a miracle but very unlikely. I am surprised they have started to gel this quick and that has got to be a complement to Redders and dare I say it Hock! Not that I expect many to agree, oh well c'est la vie!

MM

Agree0 Disagree0

MM
I agree 100% with your reply but apart from the Bournemouth result we haven't come up against or beaten a decent side yet. So as far as i'm concerned although i'm loving the positivity and the nice football I still think its top half of the table for us with a BIG push for promo next season, saying that we know the championship 4 or 5 wins a bit of confidence and who knows ;)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I have to agree. I said recently he was our worst ever midfielder and those words sound utterly stupid now!

Now That's what I call MOT
Let's remember games like this when things don't go quite so well, but the future's bright, the future's white!. Well done Redders, you are a credit to the club!

PS Ridiculous sending off, second yellow wasn't even a foul imo

Believable0 Unbelievable0

29100 odd at ER today to watch a great performance. The atmosphere was electric and the boys responded, they are up for the fight, you can see that, all in it together.
The whole team played well, but i'd like to say that Bullusci had a blinder, deserved a goal when his chip hit the bar. Should have seen him whipping the crowd up after the goal, he is already a crowd favourite. Rudi was immense, Sloth is some player, The Duke was everywhere and ran his heart out, Antenucci had a great game and showed some real class. ilvestri didn't really have a lot to do, but was there when required, clean sheet says it all.
This team is going places, I know its early days and I normally hold back with my hopes for Leeds, but Leeds have a team that play for each other and play some fantastic attractive attacking football.
Fully deserved the standing ovation they recieved, I am on a high and going for a few bevvies to celebrate before I nail the wife!

We have a luxury with players on the sidelines to step in, the midfield has played better and more balanced since murphy got suspended, bianchi is a revalation, great vision and passing ability.cook gets better every game and so quick footed.We have players to come in to change things around in midfield, sloth played a blinder today.There are other players not played yet, adryan, montenegro, etc. Antinucci and the duke . . . Early days but I think he's proving he is up to the job and will prove invaluable to the next manager, team selection and substitutions are good as well, if Adryan is as good as they say, suprised he hasn't give him a run out yet, but last 3 results have been excellent, onwards and upwards, MOT.

Not everones cuppa tea and looks a bit out of place amongst our youth but when Walters is back I think he will be dropped unless scoring plenty which I believe he can.II'm not one for old players but believe he offers something different, ariel prowess & no shortage of skill as he showed pre season.
I'm not saying he's vital because he's not but def think he's good enough for our squad

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We have enough striking talent not to have to resort to Morrison. As for ariel threat we would have kept Smith but Leeds are now a passing side not a hoofball side. With Antanucchi, Doukara, Sharp, Montenegro, Adryan etc why would we even want Morrison on the Bench!

Agree0 Disagree0

Morrison didn't want to play for us before so why give him a chance to join the revolution??

he has a 50.3% win record with 25.6% loss.

When was the last time we had a manager with over a 50% win ratio?

Only been in management a few years and only has 386 games as manager/coach.
Transfermarket gives him a management score of 3.5

Out of the 386 games in charge used 127 different players also likes to give youth a chance the youngest débutante being 16yrs 4 months old. If your good enough your old enough.

To give some numbers for perspective win ratio's
B mcdermott 43%
neil wornock 39%
S grayson 42%
terry venables 49%
Sir bobby robson 49% (just thought I would throw him in to see)
Don Revie 56.5%

Ahh yes he has a 1.44 goal per game average too. with a 1.95 in the fist half. That is for sure something we need.

Supposed to speak 5 languages

plays a 4, 4, 2 or a 4, 1, 3, 2 looks for fast attacking football.

Said to be paying off sturm to get out of his contract to come to LUFC. (paying them off himself!)

With 1.44 pr match and still 1.95 in the first half he REALLY seems like the magician we need.

It is said he speaks 5 languages and yet Phil Hay says he can't speak English? surely English would be 1 of the 5?

Well guys an gals, more transition looms, fingers crossed it all goes smoothly and we can get some long lasting stability. I am sure Redders will be involved during and after the bedding in of Darko and hopefully the good work will continue. Always a nervous time tho! Onwards upwards and always together
