As I have said on many occasions if you play Wood it's off the bench. He needs the opposition to have slowed down a bit. Scores from penalties mostly. Not good enough to start. Lots of players can only do it as a sub - he's one of them.

Cracking post Hess. Could not agree more. Been saying identical thing.

If we can get Rhodes in January we'd be a threat in this league and a favourite for a playoff berth.

Agree, wood will score from loose balls in box or penalties. Downfall is he can't create space for himself, which makes it hard to play him in. Sure he will score in double figures but not a 20+ striker. Pablo will help him out as he will draw defenders away from wood and give him a bit more space. Need ant to start banging them in though.

IMVHO the team looks better with Wood and Pablo, as for not being a 20+ striker, isn't 6 from 10 heading towards well over 20?

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with this entirely, Wood doesn't have the stamina to play a whole game against fit opposition, and needs the game to have slowed down before he can get involved.

. still don't rate him as a striker, but as an impact sub, maybe.

He's a good, he's a good
He's Chrissy (a) Wood

Forwards and backwards
Backwards and forwards

He's a real crowd pleaser
And loves to muscle in

He's a good, he's a good
He's Chrissy (a) Wood.

Too much baggage. Also, could cause an argument or 15 in the dressing room with his out spoken thoughts, high use of social media and just being Joey Barton.
In summary, I wouldn't take him.

Time for you to make an appointment to see your local urologist. A talking bladder has to be bad for you.

Are you sure you don't care btw? I don't want to see Grimes play that's fo sure.

I can see us winning but not "extremely comfortably".

Speedy come on when did we last have an extremely comfortable win at ER?

I think we will win like you and would keep likes of giant Swed, O'kane, Pablo, Veria (if Brid still sore foot) in as they all need game time and Sacko, would also include the cat, coops, denton, roofe (to get his confidence up hopefully) , so that's 8 open minded on other 3 positions, would also have a coupe of those promising U23 types on bench.

Have got 2 "killer elite" mates with me at the game tonight as they are over from Ireland on some sort of training thing, wanted to go for a beer but told them seeing mighty whites better (well better with beer perhaps) . One of them has been in the forces for over 20 years now and he still can't even "kill" a ball effectively never mind anything else.

2-1 to us then what I feel is a really big game for us against a solid championship team on Saturday, they always put up a fight so beat them and that really would be signs of progress for everyone.

Obviously after my 2-0 prediction at the weekend (even though I changed it to three when p---ed) Mighty Mad Man Michael is king of the predictions. I think it will be a tough game tonight and I'm going for a cheeky 2-1. Ant and Roofe to coast us into the next round.

Down those pints - even on a school night - and up the whites!

We have only won the two on the bounce but we are only 4 points off the play offs (5 off the relegation zone! ) . We were shaky against Blackburn but more solid against Cardiff albeit two of the poorer teams in the division. If we can maintain the progress being in the top ten by Christmas isn't out of the question. If we are Cellino, if he is still with us, might be tempted to splash out on a decent striker who can actually score as well as lead the line. Antonnson is not great at working alone up front but will get into goal scoring positions, and score, if he has a good strike partner I think. Wood, on his day, leads the line ok but so did Morisson and previous goal shy strikers. Wood can take penalties which gives him most of his goal tally but the one he took at Doncaster last year I still see passing above the house every 90 minutes or so. Rhodes isn't getting much of a game at Middlesborough, Lambert is wasted at the moment at Cardiff there must be players like these available if the club is ambitious and within striking distance of the play offs by January. Without a quality striker we will finish somewhere between 11th and 16th by the end of the season. With one who knows what we might achieve.

That's a bit harsh on wood mate. Haven't you seen how good a defender he is!

20 Sep 2016 11:48:51
Sorry. Forgot about that. On reflection he should definitely keep his place and the club can save a shed load of cash.

20 Sep 2016 14:08:08
I think the most poignant facts are that we have won the last 2 but both against teams in shocking form and looking like relegation fodder at the moment. Hopefully we have a more settled formation now and a few players are getting to full fitness (Hernandez for example) we will look a bit better as we have been far from convincing.

The next two games against teams that are starting to look mid table contenders should be quite telling - if we are to mount a serious challenge these are teams we should be beating - particularly when we play them at home.

And lay off wood - he's bagged 4 already and if we get balls to him I think he will do well for us. yes, he might need a few chances but that is all about the supply again in my opinion - very few strikers at this level have 100%shots on target and a lot of this is about opportunity. Beckford needed about 10 chances for every goal and we loved him, Becchio was similar but they both had enough chances to make a difference. Antenucci had a similar shots on target stat and he also gets more plaudits. The more service Woody gets and the more confidence he builds the better he will become.

20 Sep 2016 14:43:26
U r dreaming mate if you think wood is comparable to beck ford or bechio.
Rest of post was reasonable though.
