Use our rumours form to send us leeds transfer rumours.

21 Jul 2018 19:37:15
To me early days but it seems like cm is completely sorted with one or two expendable now. Murphy and O'kane. I think we play three in midfield, two central (Forshaw and Baker) one slightly deeper (Vieira) . Phillips also looked light years better in the deeper role and if he continues developing well he can make an excellent rotation role with Vieira. Klich and Ideguichi early days but feel at least one of those guys will also have a role.

Surely moving on O'Kane, Ekuban and Murphy gives us wage and transfer budget room for the next player or two?

Still need: A starting CB. Starting striker, A wide man, and the final luxury would be full back cover.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

21 Jul 2018 20:41:54
Yep, we're over run in midfield. O'kane and Murphy were playing for the 23's today, so must be on the way out. Also think your assessment of positions to strengthen is on the point too. Fingers crossed. Plus think Ideguchi and Klitch will be ideal back up, or more, once match fit.

22 Jul 2018 10:31:21
Think the plan is to play Jamal on the wing as the scouting reports say he’s very strong on crosses

Might be needing a new translator or this is just more evidence of tactical genius, like needing just one CB.

Does anyone else spend all day checking our Football 365 page, if they profit from page clicks then Radz ought to buy shares as we could probably afford all the French World Cup winning team. Surely we have to buy/ loan someone soon.

Post for Coffee on spines. You right bro. If LUFC must always chase a bargain and wish to replace Wood who was integral part of the spine, they must listen to George and go for the following player. Charlie Wyke of Bradford City. Can hold ball up, head, shoot and gets goals. I know Sunderland are interested. I believe he can make the step up to the Championship. Will Radz listen to me though? He's a better option than Eisa.

Believable8 Unbelievable6

21 Jul 2018 18:31:47
If he can do all those things George I doubt he’s the player for us unless he’s fluent in a foreign language, speaks little English and is injury prone. Plus can you imagine Orta wisely spending the clubs money on a trip to Bradford, I doubt it’s on his holiday bucket list.

Bielsa wants 3 players of a fairly high profile no names yet but these are not Orta's whether we get them is another matter, Bielsa as been brought in to get the best out of the current playing staff there will be no big revolution, Vydra deal was done fee agreed with Derby and personal terms also agreed Vydra's agent as cocked the transfer up coming back demanding a lot more money Radrizzani walked away and I don't blame him, rumours surfacing out of the club is we could be taken over again sooner rather than later.

Believable4 Unbelievable2

21 Jul 2018 16:11:37
It so sure we ever got that far down the line with Vydra.

Agree0 Disagree1

21 Jul 2018 13:45:08
Post for Whitey. It's not so much players would want to come and play under Bielsa, it is more he has an influence and respect with high profile managers like Pep and Poch. They may loan him/ his club their developing players for a season. That could be the difference between promotion and mediocrity if we landed say Foden Diaz and Foyth. Easier said than done. But I don't see more senior players saying I'll play for Bielsa on 20k a week because it's such an honour when they can earn more elsewhere.

I'm going to be harsh here but anyone thinks we can compete next season with the team players we've got is crazy. Time and time again last season we proved to be to soft easily pushed about and bullied in games. Unless this group have developed a back bone. We're in trouble.

Wex is more right than wrong and Coffee more wrong than right. Truth somewhere in between. Wex, they're better than relegation fodder mate. Goalkeeping improvement makes a big difference but Coffee it's not a backbone we're getting, it's a new formation, style of play, passing etc. Did we buy Flint or a vaguely resembling commanding centre back? Erm, no. We have Pooper, Bera, Diaz and Nessy if anyone can find him. The new Bielsa way will serve us fairly well in say a third of the fixtures but against your run of the mill physical championship fixture in the other two-thirds I foresee problems. So Coffee there really is no spine. Goalkeeper yes, Pontus sometimes off, can't do it on his own, midfield does look good spine wise but as for up front is concerned forget holding ball up just forget it.

Agree7 Disagree3

21 Jul 2018 14:18:47
George. I was only picking up on the backbone comment of the original poster and have come to the conclusion that Bielsa will not tolerate shirkers. I was not making an observation on whether or not the team has a spine from a playing perspective. That would necessitate a different comment on my part. In that context we have as I see one goalkeeper, one centre back, 1.5 midfielders and 0.5 forwards in terms of the spine of a team. Unfortunately that is not a winning combination on any day of the week unless the rest are reliable and dependable and committed to giving their all. Too often too many of the team looked as if they had turned up on Saturday because they had nothing better to do and given how far I travel to get to and from a game that is not acceptable. Whether the manger can change that in existing players or not or whether it requires wholessale change will emerge in the coming weeks. Oh and by the way I am well aware that Bielsa brings different formations and tactics and also aware that limited ability players are sometimes only able to play one way or two at best.

Agree2 Disagree2

21 Jul 2018 16:17:02
Bielsa will have no choice but to tolerate the shirkers. Their the same as last year.

Relying on the loan market goes against the grain. As said by the dearly beloved Ken Bates why should we take someone else child on board teach him train him then have to give him back after a year. Also if we do get into the Premiership, top heavy with loanees, what chance us in the first season having to put a new team together when they all go home. Admittedly we would have more money to do it but it's still a task bedding in a new team and facing your first season at the top, all at the same time. Better that we we loan, if we have to, with a set price to buy after a year (subject to promotion) .

Believable1 Unbelievable3

21 Jul 2018 13:38:29
Problem is if you lack funds this may be the only way to get promoted. Then you do face the challenge as you say of bedding in a new team potentially but you have to be promoted to face the problem and I know which I would rather have. Grubbing about in the championship is doing my head in. Maybe we to to first time but the cash inflow would transform the clubs finances.

Agree1 Disagree1

21 Jul 2018 13:59:30

Darren Macanthony has made a cryptic comment in an interview. Apparently Derby once again have put an offer in for the Posh striker and he is a top target of theirs no deal as yet as the valuation has not been met but he goes on to mention that a club in the championship that keeps losing out on players has also entered the frame and he had contact yesterday. I can only think it is us and i know he has a soft spot for Leeds, so i reckon he is sending us a message keep the faith lads we might have a cup of ambition after all.

21 Jul 2018 10:14:07

21 Jul 2018 11:30:15
Of course he is playing the game. He knows Leeds are running out of options as does everyone else. Radz really needs to take responsibility for the persons he's got at the negotiating table.

21 Jul 2018 11:56:57
Neither him or Roberts have played championship football, big risk to have to unproven strikers at this level, if it comes off then great, but from vydra and Hernandez to that doesn’t get me over excited.

21 Jul 2018 08:18:09
The transfer window closes in 2 1/ 2 weeks. This club went all out to get Bielsa. He is regarded as one of the best coaches in the world. I'm sure he would have told Radz what he wanted in terms of players coming in. He said as much in his presser. Strengthen in 4 or 5 positions. Two have come in so far. We don't know what players are being looked at. All we hear are rumours. There's plenty of time left.

Believable0 Unbelievable4

21 Jul 2018 09:29:21
I disagree Mr P yes there is 2 and a half weeks left but these players should have been in and training with their team mates in already, we do this every year and the club never learns. As I said in an earlier post our owners should create a fans forum and allow the passion of the fans to offer input into past failings and give constructive input. Most businesses do surveys to gauge where they are how they are doing, we are there customers give us a say and while you are at it make some quality additions before its too late.

Agree1 Disagree1

21 Jul 2018 09:57:43
We have signed two loan players and the whiff of desperation to sign players is toxic. Even Peterborough's owner is now mugging us off with how desperate we are. However, as is the Leeds way, we are trying to do it on the cheap and players with better offers are going elsewhere. The Leeds board believe the players that we have are good enough and just need quality coaching, which I have said before is either ignorance or arrogance. Either way, when we have been smashed by Stoke and Derby in the first two games, they will panic and scrat around trying to get anyone in on loan, whoever you get then will be a lucky dip and at a premium. These players will also need to get up to speed with Bielsa tactics/ formation, therefore you can probably write August off. On current squad status I would say we are candidates for relegation.

Agree1 Disagree1

21 Jul 2018 10:13:38
Mr p You'll recall negotiations to get Bielsa took what seemed forever. It was certainly over a month after initial contact was made. Did it ever occur maybe one of the sticking points was incoming transfers due to no money? We are stuck with Orta's signings and Radz' contract extensions from last season! Virtually all the dross now out on loan which is great but I don't think the money is truly there right now. So, more likely, Bielsa was ensuring if he doesn't do well due to lack of money and Radz wants to sack him that his pay off is a large fixed proportion of his remaining contract. This is why I think things took long. I do see Radz splashing the cash eventually just not in this window. Hope I'm wrong but signs are there such as Kinnear backtracking saying we'll rely mainly on the loan market, only going in for Jozefzoon once Derby had their bid accepted, bidding for lower league players, wages still being a problem. Time to smell the coffee. Getting Bielsa in now in my opinion designed to allow him to get to know the league first until we make the big push next season and to placate fans who become upset at lack of signings. At least we got a very good manager! That's my take and I'm ok with it. Success will come, just more like 2020 or 2021.

Agree6 Disagree2

21 Jul 2018 10:55:02
Problem is as always we are linked with every man and his dog in transfer windows and more so this summer following upgraded manager. Our illustrious leadership has probably never heard of half of the people we are linked with let alone actively pursued. Remember the patron saint of Elland Road for many years has been Secret Squirrel with his non disclosed fees and sudden appearances.

I was under the impression the reason why Rads went for this high profile manager was so that players would be lining up to to play for him? Apparently this not the case!

I agree mr p but I believe such promise is destined to be fulfilled next year after a "get to know you get to know the league" delay. This is my point which I've made known for a week or so now. Radz has invested in other football related commercial ventures. He'll splash the cash once he's made some profits hence Myanmar, Eleven Sports expansion. He moaned about feeling let down after he rewarded certain players with contract extensions. I just don't think the big money is there "right this second".

Agree5 Disagree1

21 Jul 2018 14:01:21
George, the big money was there for Vydra. Deal with Derby and player was agreed, £11m, till agent bumped up wage demands. We haven't spent any on players and we have cleared out 10 or more wages. We will spend but on who no one knows yet.

Agree0 Disagree1

21 Jul 2018 14:28:18
Yes mr p. That deal did go down that way and that's why I think Radz has cold feet and put most of those funds into a different pocket.
