Very sorry to read the report that Berardi could be out for nine months plus. His ability has sometimes been questioned, but his commitment to the cause has never been in doubt. Hopefully he will have a speedy recovery and maybe get a chance to wear the white shirt again.

The more I think about Ben White on loan next season the more I think it could happen
Firstly is he a guaranteed starter for Brighton?, would he be at Leeds, yes, secondly they could see what level he is at without risking there defence, if they include a bring back clause it does make sense.

Also on Ben White, if Mings can get an England call up, ?

Looking back on Transfer Market at all the player transfers in and out over the last few years.

Of the decent players we have sold are there any we would like to have back? For me Vieira and Cook would be great options for the midfield.

Also if we could add similar type of players to Wood, Nketiah and Saiz that would improve the attacking options in the squad. If you add Ben White in as well .

A total of 6 new players along the lines of those mentioned would improve the squad

What would the cost be Ā£45m?

Swift 3.5 to the blunts I've heard, good bargain buy IMO.

I have only seen a bit of Swift, so no expert, but Ā£3.5m does look a bargain

However, is he going to get in the team? Is he going to oust Phillips? Or Klich, or Henandez, or Roberts? As a long term replacement for Henandez but surely we need better players right now.

Personally I would rather spend bigger on a player than is in front of these players.

Bargain indeed. I would have rotated him, initially, with Hernandez and Klich but then taking over from Hernandez. Still, not now to be.

Suggestion for tomorrow - Meslier; Ayling, Struijk Cooper, Douglas;; Shacks? ;;Poveda, Klich, Pablo, Harrison.
The? means that we know what Shacks can do so maybe try Bogusz/ McCalmont in the holding role. I would even think of trying a few more new faces but then I think it would not be fair to other teams fighting relegation. Forgive me Bermo/ Spanish if I am missing more deserving U23s.

No he will revert back to the usual team . Bamford will be back . I donā€™t think Bielsa gives starts unless he feels theyā€™ve earnt it .

I think there was probably a reason why Bielsa choose, Struick, Shackleton and Poveda and all three deserve another go in a really competitive match. Leif Davis is another one who has not had much of a shout this year but last year was getting closer. Feels as if Bogusz and Mcalmonrt have dropped down the list. On praising the three who played on Saturday Bielsa mentioned how well they had done in training.

I am against, I believe it should be:-
Meslier,
Ayling,
Alioski,
Dallas,
White,
Cooper,
Costa,
Klich,
Bamford,
Roberts,
Harrison,
subs
Casilla
Douglas
Struick
Shakleton
Henandez
Steven
Gotts
Bogusz
BERADI

The squad that won it should be the team that finishes the league. The youngsters will get their chance.

I think Costas still injured as is Berardi and Phillips, so they can be close without taking up spaces on the bench. You can finish with close to that lineup but Iā€™m sure Bielsa will be thinking ahead already and Struick, Shackleton and Poveda got a lot to prove . Nice chance to see them in a very competitive game, but I think we can allow the god of the bucket to make that call.

21 Jul 2020 17:04:08
You cannot say that any one of the three put a foot wrong so I would very much like to see them again in a competitive match. Maybe start and then finish with a first eleven. Tho sadly not to be cheered off the pitch.

Can see Poveda being developed in a more central role in the next few years. I think he can offer us more there

Tyler had a mixed game but that pass to shack. sumptuous.

Also the run and finish from shacks illustrated why I see him as cover for klich not KP. The kid has speed to burn

Still Gotts and Mcalmont to fit in to the mix

Thereā€™s no guarantees with young players but if we can keep MB, keep developing our young players, we can be a real force again

Keep the faith
Trust the process.

Yes Woody I had that thought as well for Poveda. Longshot but I would look at trying him in a creative midfield role.

Poveda seems very close to Pablo, learning from the boss. Did you see his disallowed goal, foot on the ball, control it before placing it into the net. Have to say that he looks really well integrated into the team and seems to have a great attitude. Going to enhance the squad next year at the very least.

He does look a find. Still raw but looks a talent. Bits Iā€™ve seen of McKinstry, he looks a prospect too.

Some great posts about the kids on here. Remember now we have got the challenge of playing in premier league 2 which is a step up for the youngsters as well. Development in itself.

Also Bielsa had had a lot of time over the last few months and great opportunity to see the 23s at close quarter. He'll know the ones he thinks he can use and rely on.

Bermo right about Edmondson, needs a move away in some form. Think Bielsa really likes him but not good enough, Huddersfield? Carlos knows him better than anyone.

One final point on a different matter. Radz two years of full ownership, first Target playoffs achieved, 2nd automatic promotion achieved. Some talk of relegation on here, not going to happen with the current leadership. Challenge will be if, when Bielsa goes. But I have faith in the 5 year plan. Key is making mid table survival sexy enough for Bielsa.

Loved championship football but not going back there!

Regarding players I think we need 5 or 6 quality signings with rest of squad that will get top 4 finish let's not go up just to make up the fixture list that's my motto trust the the big man and his staff MOT let's enjoy promotion first tho then back on it enjoy and stay safe.

Horrible what happened to Berardi in last game. (ACL out for minimum 9 months) Guy is a real professional signed up for the last few games no prima donna none of this i got to protect myself for new contract at another club when so many others would have done. He has a rash challenge in him but its because he wears his heart on his sleeve and I can live with that. I don't think he's prem quality but in this situation i don't think its about that.

I think the club owe it to him to offer him a new 1 yr deal on very similar terms (he was never close to being one of our highest earners anyway) and maybe use the time to fast track him through coaching C/ L1 whatever they call it.

I seem to recall Leigh Bromby went through something relatively similar and ended up doing a fine job in the academy with Naylor for a spell. Could do a lot worse than have Gaetano do that (assuming he's up for it of course) .

Agree, canā€™t see him being forgotten by this Leeds set up! Hopefully some kind of insurance cover as well as the injury was incurred working for Leeds. Could def help the young lads.

Ealing Agree completely, whatever his limits on technical ability, he has been 100% committed to Leeds!
I donā€™t know what his plans were for next season but heā€™s not going to be playing much football!
So letā€™s hope the club keep him around the place for another year! He deserves that much!

21 Jul 2020 07:51:14
yes, a good point. Berardi seems to be a good pro so we could certainly have worse role models. Maybe he could do a job for the youth if Carlos is leaving?

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jul 2020 07:59:03
He deserves to looked after by the club as heā€™s loyal and hard as nails, true pro and never complains just comes on and does a job when asked to.

Totally agree.

If Eric dier can play in the premiership so can this lad

Youā€™d be surprised how many players are labelled ā€œ not premiership qualityā€ but do a job there.

My thoughts exactly. We won't be facing one of the best forwards in the league tomorrow because his contract has ended and he didn't want to get hurt. Our lad signed an extension and got on with it. His attitude is first class, and it would show our "Side Before Self" attitude if we looked after one of our own.
Maybe we have him in and around the U23s and let them see how a true Leeds player acts 24/ 7.
