Not too dismayed with newcastle result. If not for greens clanger, why dint he punch it, we would have lost one nil against the team that are going to walk out of this league. Defence and midfield are pretty striong imo. Said all along Wood will score around 15 a season maybe up to 18. Thing is he does not scare defenders, he is pretty poor with his head and can't shake his marker. He will score if he gets ball 5 yards out but in my opinion needs to be doing more. Would like to see ant or roofe get a chance up front or both. Also think the cat should get some games between the sticks now, no worse than green. let's remember the defence he had to play behind when he struggled.

Is that based on all the fantastic service he got yesterday, also playing up top on his own, how many decent crosses actually went in the box? . he missed Hernandez more than anyone yesterday.

Not based on one game if I was defender wood wouldn't scare me. Agree we missed Hernandez and thought sacko should have started but they weren't on pitch and we did ok. Am not dissing wood but need some one else who can get 15 a season because. Wood will score but how good would we be with someone in the box looks like they could score an hat trick.

The thing is Bige we play one up top. can't see Ant or Roofe playing that role imo. Change formation? Not at this moment in time. Wood with his faults is doing a great job and if he were to get injured would be missed big time. Fact.

Antonsson for me needs and deserves more game time in the first team.

Antonsson scored 3 in 5, decent return. Fact is we don't know how good he is unless he plays. Not long ago most on here were saying Mowatt should play every game and we would miss byram and cook big time. we have players to step up and sometimes u need to try it out.

Antonsson is 1 in 12 in the league, for me he shouldn't be a starter right now unless we have injuries. I don't care who scores the better goals, only that they score Antonsson 3 in 15 total Wood 11 in 20 and before anyone puts that down to time on the pitch in the league cup Antonsson has started all the games, wood as a sub, and is still behind Wood (3 to 2) , so my guess is teams are a lot more worried about Wood right now and Antonsson is a lot less likely to hit a hat trick of the two.

parachute payments were a good idea at the start, with relegated teams stuck with expensive payers on high wages but now, after all these years it surely has been possible to word new contracts that allow for Championship salaries if teams are relegated or at least give clubs the ability to offload if players are unwilling to agree. This unfortunately should apply to all staff just as downsizing and redundancies apply to staff in companies going through a rough patch in any environment. It should not be acceptable to give a failing club an advantage over every other. That just smells of a govt bailout to failing companies? IF any payments are given, surely it should go to the poor staff who are laid off, to enhance their meagre severance pay. Nothing more. Let the clubs cut their cloth, for as with managers, for many clubs there are only two kinds. Those that have been relegated and those that will. So Chairmen why not save for that rainy day you know is threatened.

I don't think we should be looking into the Newcastle result too much. Clearly they are the best team in the division and should run away with the league. We also held our own for periods. A few points to note though: Green - I was massive fan of this signing due to the level of experience and organisation he brings which is something I thought silvestri lacked. Would be a big call to drop him and I don't thing we should. Mistake aside I do think he is a solid keeper. Monk just needs to sort out Greens distribution the rest of his game I think is fine to continue. (note: can't see him being No1 after this season though) secondly, Charlie Taylor. No where near the level we know he can be - I would stick Beradi in to give him completion and knowing that he will be chomping at the bit to impress. Lastly, we look vastly inexperienced in the middle with the likes of Phillips and Viera, we seriously missed bridcut but with diagoura and murphy not getting a look in would it be worth bringing in an experienced midfielder who would do a job in games like this? the likes of Osman maybe? Having said that we are only point outside the play offs and we should/must win at Rotherham.

I disagree re Taylor. I think he did very well last night. I think Beradi our best player last year but Taylor on that display doesn't deserve dropping. Our defence is solid. One goal was a mistake and the other was top class. I think it was obvious to everyone that Newcastle are a diff class last night and should win the league. However we were no slouches and deserve credit for effort even if we still lack the killer instinct. I was impressed with the team performance! Think corner delivery could have been better but we had our chances but didn't take them. Do lack a bit in midfield but against Newcastle most will struggle. Well done lads. Did well
And finally. Credit to gayle. Top class striker.

Charlie Taylor hasn't impressed me at all this season, and our midfield looked a bit lightweight TBH. Kalvin looked like he was playing centre-forward to me. No disgrace being beat by that lot, altho the shout for a penalty could, and should, have changed the game, looked nailed on to me, the only people didn't see it were the barcode fans, the ref and the linesman. BTW, worst one on the field . the ref, again!! we only get s*** refs.

Not down at all after yesterday, I'm proud of what the lads have acheieved so far this season and sure we'll get back to winning ways at Rothers. There's a massive gulf between the rest of the teams and Newcastle. Jonjo ran the show. If the ref gave the penalty towards the end of the 1st half things could've been very different. Or who knows magpies could have turned it on in the second half and thrashed us 4 or 5 one. It's all well and good in hindsight. Similar to Pep with Yaya, do any of you think we desperately some experience in midfield yesterday and we could have played big Dave?

I'm proud of the team too Lucas. After the first 20 mins when we looked like rabbits caught in headlights and couldn't get out of our own half, thought we played well and without Green's error (which you can't legislate for) and the penalty decision going our way, we could've got something from it quite easily. I don't agree that Shelvey ran the show though. Granted, he had a good first half hour but they all did and it was far too easy. When we came into the game for the next hour, I thought at times he was anonymous. Really missed Hernandez' quality though and he is hard to replace but on a plus note will Berardi and Birdy get back into the team and replace Luke Ayling and O'Kane? The former were probably our best players and guaranteed a start a few weeks back but now it would be harsh to drop the later. Good position to be in but still need a bit more quality up top in the transfer window. MM.

Couldn't go to the game due to work commitments after having the Saturday booked off (cheers Sky for switching the day) . From what I have read and being told, we have no reason to be ashamed in losing to a team that will probably win the league comfortably and have spent over £50 million more than us in the transfer window this season. Definitely puts the result into perspective. 3 points return from playing consecutive games against Norwich and Newcastle is not too shabby.
