Grandma man from last week - I couldn't agree more with the posting on banter on 21st Sept at 19.16. As a Leeds fan sleepless nights are in abundance. From the Chairman - Manager down to the most important thing of all the side there seems an array of questions?? 1. My point about Howson seems to be mirrored by so many - he simply isn't up to the task and a previous banter made avery good point that Howson wasn't playing in the Hull game.... 2.The defence situation - it's all been said many times - nothing done? 3. The goings and the poor comings..... 4. Bates and his asset stripping...... 5.SG from a promising young manager to a clueless helpless individual......6. The atmosphere about the place.......7. Players not giving 50% never mind 100% and not even doing half a job of hiding their very negitive body language on the pitch - namely Snodgrass. MORE IMPORTANT THE BEST FANS IN THE LAND ARE STARTING SHOW THEIR FRUSTRATION BY VOTING WITH THEIR FEET!! Where do we go from here??

if larry the lover loses against newly promoted GUS ... i think that signs his P45 and off to Blackburn if theyll have him
A victory for Brighton to me is a very symbolic one - and says that Gus is a better manager and tactician - would Gus move to manage Leeds - would he hell !
big game coming up - win and we are ok...lose with a moody Snoddy and its time for a quick change

Believable5 Unbelievable3

For once i kind of agree with someone on this site although i think Gus is a better manager anyway

Agree6 Disagree2

I think Gus would do it for the right money.

Agree1 Disagree3

KB quoted as saying in the Telegraph in an interview last year ' no one ever lets me down twice' in ref to Gus when he left to become Spurs no2. Its yet another bad relationship that Ken has that means Poyet will not manage LUFC.

Agree3 Disagree0

Or maybe brighton have a better team than we do and more funds for players, they spent more on one player than we did all summer

Agree0 Disagree0

Seriously think we need the defence to change... Sign Danny Pugh and a new RB (perhaps Lichaj when fit). Also Think Lloyd Sam and Alex Bruce should be given chances to prove themselves again, as Paddy doesn't look as sharp since returning and Snodgrass is **** this season.. However if they don't do so well, attempt to bring in replacements in January. Howson would also Don't think the team would be too bad if Sam and Bruce can succeed...

Lonergan

Pugh Lees Bruce Lichaj

White Clayton Väyrynen Sam

Becchio Mccormack

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Pugh plays on the left also lichaj doesnt play for us and is injured so wont be coming

Agree0 Disagree0

That's why he said when fit pal, I think snoddy should play instead of Sam, I know he's looked off the boil but I think that's because he's had Lees behind him and with lichaj or connoly who are confident and willing to drive forward, he'll get back to his best

Agree0 Disagree0

No Forsell ? played at Hamburg last year and although as much as we love becchio hes a better player and him and mccormack would be awesome in this league

I feel sorry for grayson. He wants money to bring in new players but hes only got a wage budget. And he has to sell a player to loan another one in. Pretty stupid i know, thats why weve got a tiny squad and a pretty average team. Ken Bates is getting on and im sure someone else will want to own the great whites! The only criticism i have with SG is that he seems to build from the front. January is a big month for leeds, lets see if we spend some of that money KB has hidden under that beard. Also i think if we went up before end of tax year 2012 we would have to pay some creditors 25% or something like that. Not my words my little brother said he heard it off the Turners. Lewis Turner by the way is at academy and could get in team right now, his brother not bad either. MOT.

Believable4 Unbelievable4

Have you looked at the squad recently - Grayson is paying wages to more strikers and centre half's than most premiership teams!

Not saying were linked with him or anything like that but what about Adam hamill. He rarely gets a game for wolves and works well on either wing and did really well for Barnsley

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Didn't he play last night ?
Sure he scored ?

Agree1 Disagree1

Yea he did, but yea good championship player, but we need defenders

what do people think about this formation, a diamond in the middle

lonergran
lees, o'dea, bromby, white
vayrynen DM
snodgrass RM keogh or whoever LM
McCormack AM
Becchio RS Forssell LS

i think it could work although not sure who could play LM also could play nunez AM and ross LM but would rather him near the front on his form

Believable0 Unbelievable3

I would rather see

Lonergan

Lees, O'dea, Bruce, (Yes 3 at the back)

Snodgrass, Clayton, Vayrynen, White,

Nunez or Howson (behind front two)

McCormack, Becchio

Agree3 Disagree0

The fact Vayrynen is a amc and your not playing clayton, who is arguably our form player along with ross. so not great :(

Agree2 Disagree2

I know what you mean our best player but didnt know where to put him lol

Agree1 Disagree0

Do you watch any games! ..........Clayton is the only Leeds player with premiership potential - THE TEAM SHOULD BE BUILT AROUND HIM

Agree3 Disagree0

So you dont know where to put our best player so you make up a formation for us to consider and leave him out?

Tactical genious there!

Agree1 Disagree0

I would play this team, what do you think?

Isn't it ironic the fact we sing how much we hate stum, but this website has loads of posts about loaning some of their kids :) Is it ironic or are we just in a bad state we need decent players and our success comes before rivalry?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Idiot - I'd take Giggs as player coach tonight! - remember Gordon Strachan didn't he play a couple of games for Man U ...and of course the best midfield player ever to pull on a white shirt Johnny Giles!

Agree3 Disagree2

Owen Giggs and Scholes too. Unfortunately we have fallen too far for Leeds to be on radar of any of these players.

Agree1 Disagree1

Players are mercenaries now, I'd take the likes of Macheda or Diouf or even Fryers on loan. They bare no allegiance to Manchester at all so why should we hate them as players?

Agree1 Disagree1

Giggs as player coach, you're having a laugh! We'd lose one game and the daggers would be out for him. I think the point being made is as much as we may not like United, we would be more than happy to take on their bit players in the interest of making our club better.

Agree1 Disagree1

I remember the same comments greeting Gordon Strachan when Wilko signed him for £300,000 - and he led us out of this Division and to become Div 1 Champions .......

Don't know how true it is but 'allegedly' Grayson lost the dressing room a few times last season due to his, let's say 'off the field antics'. I wonder if it is just continuing this season.

Believable2 Unbelievable3

What antics? I'm interested.......

Agree0 Disagree3

If I posted on here it could be deemed as libel.. LOL.

Agree0 Disagree2

Alledgedly!! his 'off field antics' have carried on and have come to the attention of Bates who is not a happy smurf

Agree0 Disagree1

Dickheads making false rumours like that is only hurting the team.

Agree1 Disagree0

Whats 'affecting' the team is a lack of investement, inability to see sort out our obvious defence problems and players who are clearly out of form playing week in week out, not d****heads making alleged false rumours on a rumours webiste

Agree0 Disagree0

And if they spread out of said website? the fans turn on him, start calling for his sacking. the club is left in turmoil. morale drops. the losses mount up and before you know it it's 2007 all over again.

Agree1 Disagree0

I dont think his so called antics that are the problem, it is matters on the pitch that need addressing more urgently

Agree0 Disagree0

If a winger beats his man on the outside it creates space and ultimately an opening. Almost all teams have players playing on their strongest side. Some wingers will switch sides during a game to see if they can get more joy against a different player or to keep the full backs guessing but not permanently like us. I wouldn’t mind if it worked but it doesn’t and it’s annoying! Larry must think he knows something that no one else does!

As the Howson debate rumbles on - anyone answer what was the best performance at Elland Road this season?
........If you remember the game then you will remember who was'nt in the team.........!

Believable8 Unbelievable1

Hull City - No Howson

Agree8 Disagree2

Howson most overated player ever. SG should be sacked for playing him every week.

Agree3 Disagree1

21 Sep 2011 19:41:29
Time for Grayson to be sacked for gross mis-management of our great club.

1. Allowing Johnson, Kilkenny and Gradel to leave without getting any replacements - is a sacking offence by itself.
2.Sick and tired of hearing him lie saying were 'on the verge' of bringing players in.
3.Clearly players don't want to come to Leeds because of either - Ambition, Money or maybe they just don't fancy playing under Grayson.
4 Money to spend - for God's sake - he's spent enough on a squad full of forwards to fill 3 clubs.
5 Has brought in defenders who are all similiar in ability whichever combination they are played - The problem is a obvious to all fans that midfield (Led by Howson one of the most overated Leeds player ever) is lightweight, can't press, can't tackle, or pass, which exposes our defence to be overun whoever plays in the back four.(Clayton being the only exception) Why can't Grayson see this!

The fact Grayson is a local lad seems to create blind loyality from some Leeds fans.Time to go and take 'love child' Howson with him. We need a Manager who is a tough organised disciplinarian to get out this Division - remember how Wilko did it last time......... enough is enough

Believable12 Unbelievable3

Didnt persuade Beckford to stop either. And I am sorry but Billy is no like for like repalcement!! Agree with everything else you have said.

Agree1 Disagree0

I think ul find its shaun harvey and master bates that sort out contracts and transfers all grayson does is give his targets. but i do agree his tatics have been shambles at the moment and who ever is the defensive coach needs shooting

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Sep 2011 19:35:48
It is alright Grayson saying we are concentrating on Friday, blah blah blah.. I reckon Poyet will have them fired up and they will play the type of football we should be... Fast, on the floor short passing and good movement. Fearing the worst to be honest .. Would take a draw now !

Believable8 Unbelievable4

21 Sep 2011 19:30:59
I think getting rid of Grayson isn't the answer. If we got a new manager it would mean that he would have his own ideas and want players. Mr Bates isn't going to spend money. We wouldn't get a decent manager who couldnt bring in players and at least spend some cash. That was the problem when Mcallister was in charge. I do remember his saying 'if you pay bargain basement wages, you get bargain basement players. That is our problem... Ken Bates will not break the salary structure even if it means getting 3 or 4 good loan players in on prem wages. Don't flame me... It's just an opinion !

21 Sep 2011 19:29:19
I dont understand WHY everyone is kicking off about lastnight?
we had two balls cleaned off the line, had they gone in, its game on and look what happend last time we beat the scum, we slipped off the top and only just made 2nd place.
NOooooooo one gives two bob about that cup. brighton is the next games, we need something from that game.
stop going at grayson and bates i've been going to games for 30 years home and away. bates want to get one over chelsea and grayson wants to take leeds back to the top. midd table at the mo, long way still to go. get behind the team....:)

Believable4 Unbelievable9

I agree to some of what you are saying but most fans just want them to give 110%, and i mean all of them and only one two or maybe three did that last night. watching brighton now and they are like us not enough talent or skill but that is being made up with 110% effort, they give the fans something to get excited about but sorry that didnt happen last night!

Agree2 Disagree0

21 Sep 2011 19:22:15
What a welcome distraction last night was. I knew we wouldn't win, we didn't have the heart or the squad for it, but the passion of Leeds fans was re-ignited and it was electric! The meeting in town, the singing, the bus ride down to Elland road and the chanting at the Bremner statue..........All what being a Leeds supporter is all about!

Back down to earth though with a bump. More excuses from Larry on the official site about the gulf in quality and class. Didn't we have the same gulf in quality when we beat them in their own back yard?? No we just had the balls, guts and determination that comes with the shirt to go out there and win. All of which was completely absent last night in a lack lustre, boring and disappointing turn out by the players.

Howson was invisible "AGAIN!" Snoddy lacks pace, desire to run and work rate. Nunez isn't a winger, a one trick pony that cant run or take a player on. O'dear, well the titanic has more chance of re-surfacing than that guy has of marking and closing down an opposition player. Keogh was ok when we had no one else, but he falls well short of the quality of a target man and striker.

I have to question Larry, i don't think he really has an idea of what to do with whom and when. He has no fixed, structured tactical base and seems to favour some players regardless of form. Sick of hearing his constant excuses on the OS.

7 years Bates has been at our club and where are we? Going backwards is where we are, took us 3 years to get out of league one only to have all our assets sold or allowed to leave on a free. Those of you who think he saved our club are blind. He took an opportunity to bank roll himself and bulk his pension. At 80 years old do we honestly think that he is going to speculate even the smallest amount of investment in our side. Well the evidence is there because he hasn't. He isn't interested in ambition for our club at all. He alienates the fans and various other organisations without a care in the world. He has lied, cheated and deceived the fans and the authorities. This is a silly, senile, stubborn old man with no thought for anyone, but himself and the sooner he leaves Leeds the better. We need a younger, ambitious chairman that's looking to take Leeds forward!

Loyal disgruntled Leeds Fan

Sick of reading this type of guff. We all know what we need - so if you've got a few spare million, there you go and we can say goodbye to Uncle Bates. If you haven't, stop stating the bleeding obvious!

Didn't sleep much after getting home after the match last night,it wasn't the recent gas bill or worrying if the wife was monitoring my brandy consumption this season, it was my team Leeds keeping me awake,Bristol City was a poor performance and even though it was a second rate quality Man Utd team we were up against we didn't seem up for either game.. Were has the passion to play for Leeds Utd gone within the players, will we ever find a new captain that can drive the team on,will the defence keep a clean sheet this season, will Snoddy ever have a good game again, can we get an away win,am I the only one suffering long sleepless nights.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

There is a lot behind the scenes i think that's distracting the players and keeping disharmony in the team Grayson is distracted and very frustrated. You can see this all over his face when he gives interviews. He hasn't a clue on how he is going to sort this problem..

Perhaps its time for a fresh face and fresh ideas

Agree2 Disagree2

21 Sep 2011 19:11:28
Is it just me or the players lost the passion? There seems to be no desire at all. There was once a time when we could pass a team off the park and we looked excellent and a genuine threat going forward. I would love to know what is happening behind the scenes at ER.

What an embarrassment we were - Squad needs overhauling if we are to find a team capable of being as good as 2 years ago. Start with lightweight Howson - he is no better than when he made his debut - last night he was yet again 'missing' cant mark, cant press, cant pass - feel sorry for Clayton he was terrific again. The fact Howson is a local lad but he's just not good enough. Can't help feeling cheated - a midfield with Gradel, Kilkenny,Johnson with Clayton added could have been the springboard for promotion.

I am sick to death of hearing all the excuses on here for players that arn't good enough. Snodgrass is playing s**** and should be dropped. If he has family or personnel problems send him away and sort it out instead of being a cardboard cut out on the pitch. Howson is out of form, drop him and give him a kick up the backside. Who is the vice captain anyway! Our defence is carp, but it doesn't help that our midfield, minus Clayton, cant track back and help the defence. Paddy is not as good as he was and Odear is very average. At least Paddy has a good footballing mind which would help Lees if he was put at centre half. Also, I know Alex Bruce fell out with SG, but come on, we pay his wages so give him a chance. I would play against Brighton

A Lonergan

T.Lees A.Bruce P.Kisnorbo D.Pugh

R.Mcormack A.Clayton M.Valyren A.White

L.Becchio M.Forsell

Excuse spellings and I know Ross is on the wrong side of midfield but it may work, just an idea. At the end of the day, lets get behind the lads, stop the negative protest in the ground and voice all negatives outside.

Keep White at left-back, put Pugh on the left wing instead. Last time he was at Leeds, Pugh showed he wasn't a good enough defender.

Have we signed Pugh then

Also think Forsell and McCormack would be a great partnership in this division.

Ramon Nunez is not worthy of wearing the white strip. He is the most predictable player on the park more so than Snodgrass. He has no left foot as shown by his woeful miss from 5 yards last night and constantly cuts inside and narrows the play up. All he does is run across the pitch and against Bristol City and again when he came on against scum not once did he actually make a run down the line. The sooner we get a left back in and let aidy white play lm, or get a natural winger in the better. The lad is an impact sub at best and his versatility across the midfield is a useful trait for the squad but that all he should be.

Believable18 Unbelievable4

Talking rubbish.

Agree2 Disagree15

Funny that, its only a couple of weeks ago most fans thought Nunez was a world beater and ideal replacement for Gradel, how times change quickly on here, last night an average championship side played the best team in the premier league even with his so called second string, come on guys what did you expect, huge difference in class, effort and commitment only gets you so far,and even that was sadly lacking, very disappointing.

Believable13 Unbelievable2

White & Keogh got torn a new a*****l by that Diouf last night............Players who need to be bombed because they dont care or are not good enough:

Snodgrass
Keogh
White

Believable2 Unbelievable8

Snodgrass only

Agree5 Disagree2

Sell snotty Snodrass asap, let Keogh go once his loan runs out - but you're wrong about White, he's a Premiership player in the making. Snodgrass, on the other hand, is on his way back to League One.

Agree2 Disagree0

Aidy White is 19 years old. how can you write him off?

Agree3 Disagree1

Aidy White coped admirably last night, especially going forward in the first half. His turn of pace is frightening and at 19 is rather promising.

Agree3 Disagree1

It doesnt matter how old he is mate, he could be 6 years old for all i care. hes still old enough to be selected for the 1st team. you cant let somebody get skinned and give away a goal and then put it down to his age.......

Agree0 Disagree2

Oh do one. another fan with no idea about the sport he supposedly follows.

Agree2 Disagree0

Aidy White doesn't have the physique of a defender. If you look at him he has all the fine attributes of a great winger. e.g lean, small, fast, skillful and a good crosser of the ball. I think he could be the next Johnny Giles (seen as hes now an Irish player) - reluctantly have to agree on on Snodgrass and Keogh

Agree0 Disagree1

Aidy White is a young hardworking average left sided player - to compare him to Johnny Giles is a disgusting insult to the most influental player of the Revie era -he ran the game for over a decade.

Agree2 Disagree0

To say Johnny Giles is the most influential player of that era is a disgusting insult to Billy Bremner.

Thats one of the most inept Leeds displays ive ever seen in 35 yrs against there 3rd or 4th team. Dont mind losing but looking totaly uninterested is to much. The defence problems are there for all to see, the down turn from even last season is worrying. i never normaly get on the band wagon when we lose but that was our best against there as beens and wannabes playing out of position and still out classed us. Come on Leeds sort it out....

Believable7 Unbelievable4

Only snotty Snodgrass really didn't look interested.

Hi Guys
I posted yesterday (Bazza The Red).I know you're all disappointed with the performance last night and I have to say I was expecting a bit more from your guys but its not all doom and gloom.I don't think you will meet too many sides in the Championship who will keep possession like we did last night and move the ball around so quickly added to that the movement off the ball was proving a tough night .You do however have some good players and I think you are more than capable of pressing for at least a play-off place. If you get a couple of good loan signings who knows what will happen but you all know things change quickly in football and I'm not naieve to think we will not have our off days.
Anyway all the best for the rest of the season.

Snodgrass didn't look interested last night, flat footed and never attempted to beat a player and supply the hard working front men. Howson picked it up a bit in the second half, he must have had an absolute roasting in the dressing room, it looks like last seasons praise has gone to his head! Clayton was an inspiration, never stopped working and closing down. Defence, I think it's all been said, definately not Grayson strong point! In summary, we looked star struck by a bunch of kids, albeit pretty impressive kids

What is SG thinking about? Bloody awful team selection- why would you play three forwards from the start when it should have been Becchio, with a five man midfield- Snodgrass, Howson, Vayrynen, Clayton, Sam- and dont tell me we are a patch on last season with Kilkenny, Johnson & Gradel! Kilkenny is right- we were only a couple of players short last season to mount a challenge this season- now we arev miles away!! Bates & Grayson need to sort it iut- humiliated by Man Utds third team!

We still are a couple of players short. If Snodgrass rediscovers his form and we bring in Lichaj (When fit) and a really good LW we would have a lot better team than last season.

Does anyone agree snodgrass maybe unintrested due to us not allowing him to move in the transfer window? Just a thought. And you can judge performances on man united wait till we play Brighton and have Pugh on board and see if things improve . Surely things can only get better? MOT

He's probably uninterested because he has other things on his mind. like, where the club is going, whether he should stay or go. why show loyalty to a team so lacking in ambition?

Agree0 Disagree5

He's paid to do his best for Leeds United, which he simply isn't doing at the moment. DROP HIM!

looks to me like there a few players not wanting to play for the shirt.some tough decisions need to be made simon .make the changes we all no need to be made being leeds born does not mean you have got to play dropping 1 or 2 might make them realise they need to ern the right to play and have a positive affect on them

Defo, howson cannot play effectively in a four man midfield against anyone of note. The other problem is we only have one decent holding midfielder ( did not see much of mika last night but he seemed to be playing more forward). We also are missing gradel badly, we have no one who can perform of any note at present on the left of midfiled. Fans must remember that most of the time our midfield is giving little or no defensive support to the defence.....starting to wonder why grayson does not see or deal with these issues.

Agree2 Disagree0

We only need one decent holding midfielder. attacking 4-3-3 is the way to go.

I suggest the following plan of action to move this club forward.

1. Bite the bullet Bates and sack Grayson NOW before the season is a non event. Have the balls to appoint a manager who is mature and experienced enough to stand up to you on footballing (not business development) matters.
2. Drop Howson and give him a chance to recharge his batteries and put him on a bulking up regime. He is too lightweight and intimidated. But he is still only young and does not turn from a good player into an outcast in one season - give the lad a chance.
3. Play a midfield of Clayton, Vayranen, Sam and McCormack or White.
4. Sell Snodgrass at the first opportunity. He is a disillusioned, unfit whiner who can spread his misery to the younger players if he is allowed to.
5. Rebuild the defence completely - Bates has said money is available and there a lot of free signings around. Add this to the loanees we could get and surely they can't do any worse than what we all ready have. A clean sheet would be a nice starting point to aim for. No easy answers on this one I am afraid.
6. Decide what role Forssell is going to play. He is classy in this league, but Becchio has to start, plus McCormack has done nothing wrong. Nice problem for a change.

God knows what else this club needs, but lets pray we get back to where we know we belong. MOT

Spot on post that actually makes sense! Time for SG to man up and go away.

Agree3 Disagree0

Idiot! Why would he hire a manager that could stand up to him?

Agree0 Disagree1

Its simple,all we need is a billionaire,and a proven manager,couldnt be easier.

Agree0 Disagree0

Idiot! He could hire such a manager so that the team could play better, get bigger crowds, get into the PL and line his pockets some more. Try not to dribble when you attempt to think!

Leeds United look set to sign Danny Pugh on loan from Stoke City.

Boss Simon Grayson confirmed that the Whites are ready to bring in a new player after the 3-0 Carling Cup defeat to Manchester United and it appears that Pugh will make a return to Elland Road.

The 28-year-old previously made over 50 appearances for the club between 2004 and 2006 and he has been heavily linked with a move back to Yorkshire over recent weeks.

Pugh was an unused substitute in Stoke's penalty shoot-out victory over Tottenham in the Carling Cup but speculation has surrounded his future after he was left out of the Potters' Premier League squad.

"Hopefully in the (Wednesday) morning," the Leeds manager told reporters when asked if a new signing was in the pipeline.

"He's been involved in a game tonight, hopefully he's not got injured and fingers crossed it should be done in the morning."

What is it with Leeds and ex players, itll be Douglas next,we should have got Warnock when he was out of work, got teams promoted many times, bit too much about him though for master Bates, time for change.

Guys lay off snodgrass he will come good. I have heard from a very very reliable source that currently he has some personal problems which leeds are helping him with.

Believable1 Unbelievable3

Correct its call 'loss of formitis'

Agree3 Disagree0

He's only human. give the guy a break.

Agree0 Disagree3

Too right he has personal problems - he's an overrated, lazy, sulking prima donna who thinks he's too good to be at Leeds.

Good riddance come January.
