Rodrigo (the one we've got) is an interesting one! I live in Valencia so his going to Leeds has attracted a lot of attention to us. He was adored by the fans and the ones I've spoken to are gutted by his loss. Last year was a bad year to judge anyone from Valencia . But previous to that he was a key part of a side playing very Leeds style attacking football.

I think he is a Bielsa style player, loyal to the club, hard working, puts team before self and flexible. The fact Bielsa has played him so quickly in three games in a week, shows he thinks he was ready. His problem is going to making a position his own to get regular game time but I think he'll come good .

Spaniard Beg to differ. Probably a good player but from what I've seen don't see him being a success at Leeds. A financial error on our part. Insufficient promise of reward for the risk taken. In light of the %s I outline in my post to 1970 which I think will prove to be accurate, we've paid over the top by £10m. Only redeeming feature with his acquisition is it seems to have stirred Paddy to focus more than ever and bring his best game.

Of course he’ll come good Spaniard! Just takes time to bed in, get up to pace, and understand what’s required of him. Which with MB is not simple. The man is a Spanish international! Only a plum would question his credentials, and offer an opinion on market value, surely? 🤔🤔🤔🤫.

Bright Credential check not the issue. I accept he's an international. I question his ability to integrate into our team, the English game itself and the PL which has sped up a fraction in recent years. We are managed by a foreign coach, a world class one. but it's still the English game and I'm concerned.

Good post Spanish. Nice to get the drift about players I’ve only seen in an odd champions league game.
As usual George is playing percentages. If the lad works out he will say he pointed that out and if he don’t say I told you he was not suited to premier league or something to that effect.

CCCP You're utterly correct. My opinion pure invention and unreasonable. I was not swayed whatsoever by the penalty he conceded costing us a point.

I was on the contrary exhilarated by it along with his other contributions and as for Edmondson I only know about him because I bumped into someone in the mess whose brother's tennis partner's servant knows him well.

Apparently he's awful but I intentionally inverted that view in order to suit my fictional malignant agenda as I play on the minds of all Leeds supporters worldwide from my covert underground lair replete with internet access and mutating algorithms.

All my football knowledge and understanding of LUFC is derived from untrustworthy sources and therefore my opinion invalid. Foiled again by the Babycham master.

I have to smile when I read these supporters messaging, saying that we MUST get De Paul, he is the best in his position, he will take us to the next. All well and good and maybe quite true but until a few weeks ago nobody here had ever heard of him and even now the only evidence is an amalgam of "best bits" on you tube. I somehow think we would learn more from a "worst bits" compilation. I hope I am just being cynical and we do get him and he does become world class. Let's just wait and see, Que Sera.

Leo From all accounts RDP is a class act and would be a worthy investment. If he does come, let's hope the winter isn't a problem for him or he gets homesick like Saiz did. I'm more concerned by the money spent on Rodrigo. I believe it shall prove to be a waste. Can't see him scoring more than 7 league goals this season. I also believe we could've blooded Edmondson more. I realize Bielsaball places huge demand physically on players and the style of play might not suit his game but if I were running the show I would not have spent the big money but tried to train what we have. Bub knows better than George though.

George think you have to use both systems firstly by coaching young players with potential up to the level required, opposite this is the need to bring in the finished article with the quality and ability to hit the ground running, who can play Bielsa's system and maybe still have room for improvement.

1970 I agree with your post but the point I'm making is this. I see Rodrigo hitting no more than about 55% the quality and form of Paddy. I think Edmondson could reach 30-35% in his first season with Bielsa if trained properly and given a chance. Therefore, I don't see how paying all that money worth it for the extra 20%.

Alf The usual metrics. Hold up play, running off the ball, pressing, set piece usefulness, defensive contribution to set pieces (we know what happened there) , assists, shots per game, shot accuracy, goals. I don't like what I've seen from him so far.

So after all this time Gvardiol appears to have agreed to join Leipzig.
This De Paul transfer saga is still rumbling on, if we are talking about an extra 5-10 million euros here I think we need to just get it done, sell Douglas to Celtic, send Casillas our on a free or a loan to free up some wages and sell Roberts to Derby there we go, the funds raised the wages freed up . Easy 😀.

From what I have seen of half an hour of you tube clips RDP is a very good player indeed ( more impressive than the Rodrigo we have actually signed) .

£35 million may be 5 to 7 million more than his fair value but we need him badly. Orta and Radz need to get this done if it takes full £35 -million so be it make the offer now time is running out.

Would not surprise me if we get no one else in. Really not convinced Bielsa wants de Paul, more orta and Radzs. Bielsa believes in his system of a small squad. We all can see the weakness in our defence, but I'm convinced Bielsa will do it his way. We have brought Koch as a replacement for White, don't expect another centre half to come in.

would now not surprise me if Leeds signed did not sign any other first team player.

but that would be a huge unnecassary mistake and huge unnecessary risk to be so reliant on good luck with no injuries to key players .


we have no genuine replacement for Bamford, Klich or Pablo if all 3 get injured we are welm and truly forked


Man City and Livèrpool win trophies because they have 2 quality players for each position.

Agree bazooka, but I think that is the price we pay for having a coach like bielsa, be it a madman or maverick, he does it his way. Unfortunately we are not playing with the same level of resources as the Man city, Chelsea and Manchester Utds of this world. To do that we need to build season upon season in this league to acquire the finances. Going to be touch and go I guess, people will be waiting for us to fall apart, hope bielsa proves them wrong.
