McCormack says he will sign a new contract if one is offered, even though he has 3.5 years left on his current one.

After more money if you ask me.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Apparently mccormacks on 22k a week and he's not our highest earning player and he definitely deserves it. He's been great this season, he's going to be top scorer and the least he deserves is a pay rise, plus if he signs, say a 1year deal with us to make it 4years it'll warn off other teams so they won't buy him.

Agree0 Disagree0

I suspect we've seen the best of Mac for us, I don't want to see a Wayne Rooney situation with him. If he wants to step up, let him go. just not to a rival.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd increase his pay to 28k a week if he doesn't want to sign see u later. You can't pay players 30 a week plus in championship. Not good for finances or team morale. Brown is on like 1 pr 2 grand a week and has played fairly well all season. We need pace and solid defenders. A midfield general would be nice too but difficult to find in this league.

Agree0 Disagree0

What would be the point of giving him a new contract exactly? He's under contract until 2017 and we have no need to sell. If he wants more money, then tough, because we need to trim the wage bill. Worst case scenario is he'll leave on a free in 2017, when he'll be 31.

Federico Macheda, wants to continue to play football in England, could be worth a look at only 22, and Italian. on loan at crisis club Birmingham. MOT

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We could do a lot worse despite his parent club

Agree0 Disagree0

He's available on a free in June, so could be a good shout. Might be Premier League interest though and I'm not sure how much the compensation would be.

Not the greatest story breaking in the Daily Fail today about one of our promising youngsters.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

22 Apr 2014 17:20:44
I know everyone does these and there very similar but this is who I think we should keep for next season just for first team, because I really doubt like 15 new players will be coming in and 15 out as its too much.
Kenny, Byram, warnock, murphy, McCormack, smith

I'd like to see the following in to make a first team I feel would compete just off english team players, as my knowledge of foreign leagues is dire.

Scott Parker (Fulham), Wes Morgan (Leicester) highly doubt they will let him go, Craig Dawson (West Brom)
Phil Bardsley (Sunderland) OOC I believe although chances are he will get prem team.
Brit assombolonga (Peterborough) got to be worth a gamble surely?
Zoltan Gera (west brom) (if he can prove fitness
Snodgrass (them) come on he's top drawer.
Sam Gallagher (Southampton) loan

I know there is so many more options jus a few I feel will improve us an make us good enough to compete in playoffs.

What you think folks?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think Kenny's a poor keeper. Decent shot stopper but a poor decision maker and awful in the air.

A new keeper and two good centre backs would be the starting point for me.

We also need an experienced midfield enforcer, maybe someone in their mid-late 20s. Brown's too old (but I'd offer him another year him as backup) and Austin gives the ball away too much. I think Mowatt and Murphy would be much better, more creative players with a David Batty type of player behind them.

We also need a couple of fast, adaptable midfielders who can play wide if needed. Contrary to the opinion of the 4-4-2 diehards on here, conventional wing play went out years ago at the higher levels we aspire to but players like Max Gradel give you the option to be more tactically fluid and we are very predictable as we are. We need to sign Gradel then clone him. Actually I'm generally not one for re-signing players but I'm sure you get my point about the type of player.

We need another striker, two if Ross goes.

I agree that 15 in/out would be too much to blend together in one pre-season but it's a major rebuilding job. I only see Byram, Warnock, Murphy, Mowatt, McCormack as being 1st team standard with Smith as a tactical option. Possibly Pearce might make it but I think, like Mowatt & Murphy, he'd need a good experienced centre back alongside him to help him step up.

I don't know enough about the academy players to say who will be good enough next season but hopefully there will be another one or two there as options.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with the 4-4-2 but it seems to work at this level at least, Leicester and burnley have deployed it often this season. Also agree about kenny but come on any keeper looks awful in this team he shouldn't have to worry about every cross shot pass etc, think he would suffice for another year with a decent defence. I'm not convinced by Pearce but will do as backup, like many of our player, I like warnock but I wouldn't mind him being backup for someone like konchesky good in champ. Who would you like us to sign from england axe man?

Agree0 Disagree0

Not really sure Harte. When it comes to detailed knowledge of players you need a better memory for names than me - maybe I'd have been able to answer that 10 years ago - the brain starts to go when you hit 50.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Apr 2014 15:17:39
I think mosts to us is a good shout.what a statement by Massimo it would be.of course notes would have to take a huge pay cut, but isn't band on 50k p/w? Apart from maybe spurs will he actually get a better offer (professionally speaking). Just a thought, but I certainly wouldn't be overly surprised.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ben so you want moyes who just plodded along at Everton, moved to Manchester United and got found out?

Agree0 Disagree0

I always thought his time at Everton was massively overrated, given the amount of money he'd spent there. Martinez has already done more than him in one season. Moyes is another dinosaur in the Warlord/McDermott mode, with more hoofball and no interest in youth. Is that really what we want again?

Why does zaliukas get so much stick when he plays our shocking defence looks a little bit less shocking. Every time I've watched him he makes strong early tackles which is what lees and wooton never do.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think the Wednesday game did him no favours mate, but agree a lot better than lees, although wooton is another level of poor.

Agree0 Disagree0

To me having watched most of the home games Wootton seems really poor, we need a older head, a proven centre half who ideally is quick as we lack pace. Pearce/Lees to me are just average and MZ has the potential to be good as he can tackle/pass.
But it is coming to something when Brown appears as one of our best midfielders, he wasn't good enough for us couple of years ago so that shows we are going backwards.
Also I know Mowatt is home grown/young but for me he seems really really slow, gets knacked after about 15 mins, not much of a tackler, can't head it and this season is just about average at passing so why do we rate him? maybe its growing pains ha ha.
Need a fast forward who scores a few (10-15 fine if they create space with their pace), 3 new midfielders, 2 defenders and a goalie, get rid of say 12 of current lot and that should balance, quality not quantity needed

Agree0 Disagree0

I think you're wrong about Mowatt's passing DG. Rarely gives the ball away and has an eye for a through ball.

He's a bit lightweight, as you'd expect for a teenager, but I think he has a lot of potential. He needs the right players around him to develop though.

I was a little surprised to hear RM banging on about a new contract as he is less than 12 months into a 4 year deal. I know he's had a better season than anyone imagined but I think this is him sowing the seeds for a move and alerting other clubs.

I don't want him to go but I think his mind has been made up since January and expect him to swiftly follow McDermott out of the door. I think he has become a casualty of the takeover saga, having put his support firmly with McDermott, but just hope MC demands top dollar for him.

Just reading that Dex Blackstock has been found guilty of breaking the FA's betting rules. Let's hope Forest sack him and we snap him up in the summer. A realistic target in my opinion who linked up well with Ross during his loan spell. Probably not a marque signing everyone is looking for but one I think would certainly make a difference.

ok so here my team, I have no faith they would do any better but here we go ha ha:

4 at the back (who ever hasn't been out on the beavy the night before)

Austin and brown CDM (seeing as everyone just runs through the middle of our team)

either stewart/white/pugh left wing?

McCormack on the right (sure he's our goal threat but needs be and he knows what he's doing on the wing and can cut in)

have the 2 "wingers" more central to follow the hoofball aimed at matt smith and hopefully win some balls)

Murphy/tonge just behind big matt upfront?

what you guys think, the midfield don't know what they're doing so myt as well have them defensively set out and hope for something to happen free kicks etc.

What is with people & DOL he couldn't do the job with Ridsdales backing, he had a full toolbox with snap-on in it so he'd have a job on with a box full of cast iron in it

Agree0 Disagree0

I wouldn't want DOL back but 'couldn't do the job?' What planet are you on? Never finished below 5th in the PL and reached the Champions League and Uefa semis.

I'd take that level of 'not doing the job.'

Everyone is of course entitled to an opinion but really some of you guys! The goals v Forest we're deplorable.Lord knows what Alan Hansen would have made of it. Centre Halves thirty yards apart. Ah, but we've been playing three at the back, so centre halves can cover missing half backs.Brian is a man searching for a winning formula - found one - then changed it. Went back at half time and forced to play Austin wide right and he puts in his best 45 of the season. The fact is, we should know what the plan is by now and I was very cross with Brian yesterday. We need to decide a style and stick with it, the players aren't good enough to keep on changing around.
Sure opposition will suss us out but if they have to alter their game that gives us opportunities too.
It also allows us to develop players for specific roles. Lees was dumped on squarely yesterday and once again Brown was our best player. Warnock, the walking groin strain, in ahead of White Hunt ahead of Smith who needs experience. Perhaps it was last chance saloon for some but those who are wanting a wholesale cull, including the manager, should consider not throwing out the baby with the bathwater.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Still pinching myself this morning after seeing Austin out wide haha

Agree0 Disagree0

I take it you're aware Zaliukas was injured Dr. T? He had to make a change and given that Peltier's gone I'm not sure what his other options were.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes but we played three at back for 2nd half; Wooton, Pearce, Lees

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we played four at the back brian just forgot to tell scott wotton

Leeds to get David Moyes in Summer! Following the shambles at his previous employers, David Moyes, whom never needs work again, is unable to let go and wants to get back at them- just like Gordon Strachan did- and what better way than to go to LUFC and show them what they messed up. Some might think getting one of them in is not ideal, but I think its different getting the top man - the likes of Giles, Strachan and Moyes, verses lesser personnel like Kidd whom I think had a very de-stabilising effect when he was brought in to oust Eddy Grey ( big big mistake). this is different- he will want to show what he can do - and as he's been paid off, maybe we could afford him?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Id have no problems with that regardless of where he's came from!

Agree0 Disagree0

Not sure about Moyes. Did well at Everton but not as well as the next man in. After coming up against player power at MU he is now looking very old and broken. If he can put this lot behind him and wants to try in the championship with a club that's been through the mill could be a scoop.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd have him. There is no doubt about his credentials and the fact that he ruined their season almost gives him God status amongst Leeds fans :)

Agree0 Disagree0

No thanks, not more hoofball!

Well the season is nearly over and we can look forward to better times. What will the summer hold for us, I think it will be a better one than the last few. We may or may not have a new manager quite a few players will be on the way out and hopefully some good ones to come in. Hope we can keep our crown jewels so we have something to build on. We have the world cup to look forward to see if England can get through to the quarter finals and before we know it the new season will have started.
So I like to wish everyone a good summer.

I think the only way to judge BMD is on his transfers. I know you can say his first targets were Messi, Ronaldo etc and he only had a limited budget so had to sign, Wooten, Hunt, Stewart etc. The point is are his signings an improvement on the squad he inherited, is the squad any better one year on?
My opinion is that on the whole he has wasted the funds he had, so for me it's good bye Brian 'Reading' MeDermott. ( I for one will be glad to stop hearing about when I was at Reading ) .

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The 2 signings of wooton and murphy apparently set us back almost 2 mil, I'm pretty sure Warnock built most of the rest of the team for less then that and they were looking ok until recently

Agree0 Disagree0

I have to agree. Hunt, Kebe, Stewart, Zaliukus, Wooton, Murphy and Smith. The only one who can really hold his head up is Smith and he was only expected to be a bit part player after McCormack and Hunt. His hands may have been tied when he tried to sign other targets, but so were Grayson & Warnocks. New season, new chairman & a new start for us next season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Disagree JT. Hunt hasn't scored but actually plays OK. Murphy's still finding his feet but has shown signs of being a proper footballer. Zaliukas looked a great signing until the Wednesday game. Kebe's been poor but looked a great signing on paper and everyone on here thought it was a no-brainer when it was announced. Stewart's still young and looked better of late.

It takes time to build a team. Look at Fergie's first few years at Man U. Sacking the manager every year is becoming a habit at Leeds and it is not very clever. Leeds fans need to get a bit of perspective and learn some patience.

Stickey, I didn't know McD had been at reading? Can't think of a single time he'd mentioned that club either. My tip for next years joint management is the dreamteam that will be venunables and blackwell. What those 2 don't know isn't worth knowing. Warnock as director of football. Denise wise as chief scout. Let the good times roll.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Apr 2014 09:06:09
Smith is far and away better than Poleon or Hunt. Poleon is still a headless chicken. Hunt, apart from a couple of 'flick ons' doesn't contribute a lot. Another striker who could play till Christmas and not have a shot on target. Mowatt is far too lightweight. Having Mowatt on at the same time as Murphy is asking for trouble. It says a lot when 37 year old Brown is our best midfielder with Tonge a close second. It doesn't help when McD persists in playing Murphy in a deep position with Austin pushed up the park or wide right when he should be playing defensively. But then again who should be playing deep Austin or Brown - Brown every time for me; he puts in a shift, doesn't give the ball away too often and doesn't shirk tackles. Murphy please note.
Not sure at the end of the day if we shouldn't have a total clear out at the end of the season as it is possible that too much damage has been caused to every member of the team because of the ongoing shambles of:- Bates, Warnock, GFH, Takeover, no money for wages and Leeds just been a laughing stock in the media for too long. Clear out and start again contracts permitting.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Smith is a good lad and up and coming striker but when we play him its all long ball. the lad has not enough pace to run down back four and put them under any pressure. good in the air though. micky b.

Is today the day for BMD to go with a dbit of dignaty We can give him the money for next season as we have seen the type of player he will bring in, either his mades from the Reading team or other club rejects who will just come for the money and sit and bench warm. can't believe MC will kepp him Our worst manager ever (Fact) time to go.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

22 Apr 2014 08:51:04
I believe pretty much Cellino will take McD shopping list use him for knowledge of British transfer targets (which provided he stays away from Reading might prove to be an ok list, he did start as a scout) and then sack him after Birmingham.

Don't really write on here but I read it . Think everyone needs to pull together players, fans, manager and his staff and the owner. We need to bring in the right players, young lads that work hard and play with there hearts, play because they love it and don't care what there wage is and keep them together just like we did 10-15 years ago, Kelly, harte, Woodgate, radebe, bowyer, kewell, bakke all played with heart. Think we need a leader which Leeds haven't had in years . We (Leeds) in to build from the back 2002 good keeper 4 good defenders keeping clean sheets win games . This is not a rumour but be good to see other fans views mot

Can't agree that Kewell played with heart pal sorry he's got a heart the size of a pea. When the muck hit the fan he dint wanna know, was like playin with 10 men. His bone idleness also exposed Harte and made him look worse than he actually was. His showing for Liverpool in Euro cup final is another fine example of a pitiful man with no fight in him. Can't abide him.
