Another reason to buy British . Any foreign signings including Koch will have to self isolate for two weeks . This effectively rules them out of preseason . I suspect we will be lining up against Liverpool with Coops and Ayling or Struijk as centre backs . Hopefully Struijk as I think Ayling is pants at centre back .

Another reason to get your signings done EARLY

Sign up Koch anyway he is quality . regardless that he would then apparently need 2 weeks of self isolation.

The market is very subdued due to C19.we have to expect that. As long as we get signings over the line, all is good!

22 Aug 2020 18:04:36
If Koch is coming from Germany, he wouldn’t have to self isolate. I think Germany is currently Ok for travel, but it may change so would like to get him signed ASAP!

22 Aug 2020 18:21:37
Koch + Foyth please badly needed, get a pair of CB, s in as soon as, Time to move on from Ben + please don't let this into another Ché farce, ultimately so much wasted time . Victor supposed to be in Deutschland.

22 Aug 2020 20:43:18
Not sure if country would even matter with people who are being tested frequently. Why isolate if proven negative?

Agree3 Disagree0

23 Aug 2020 07:11:42
Yeah no need to self isolate when coming from Germany currently.

Agree2 Disagree0

23 Aug 2020 09:27:04
Koch just played in a preseason friendly in Austria . So need to also consider if Austria on the list .

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Aug 2020 11:20:14
Austria joined the list yesterday morning, so as long as we was out of the country before 4am yesterday, he will be currently clear to travel to the UK.

23 Aug 2020 11:25:16
As did the entire Liverpool squad, but no suggestions so far that they will be affected by the virus restrictions.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Aug 2020 11:41:25
I'm not sure it applies to footballers anyway as they have separate testing.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It does apply. Liverpool have been given an exemption but questions are now being asked about it. As one of teh posters said, it depends where they arrive from.}

23 Aug 2020 12:56:28
Our signings should of been identified well before season ended and as soon as promotion was secured we should of but in the bids made the agreements and the players should of been at the club a month already and ready to rock and roll on September 12.

22 Aug 2020 14:49:42
Now we are back in the Premier League, we need to replace Victor with someone who has a proven track record in recruiting quality players who are not journey men and have the attitude of side before self every time - without breaking the bank.

Bring back Peter Ridsdale.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

22 Aug 2020 15:07:12
Indeed 😉 and in all seriousness Pete always got his man
Viduka an absolute bargain at £6 million . what a player.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2020 15:57:50
When you said bargain I thought you meant Seth Johnson!

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2020 16:46:01
Ha yes Canada
The Seth Johnson signing, but the only really bad value for money Ridsdale signing at £7.2 million was about 6.5 million too much

However one has to admit that Pistol Pete Ridsdale and co identified players efficiently and made these signings smoothly and quickly

In contrast to tne increasingly numerous transfer sagas of DJ, CA, JKA, BW that we have with the current regime of Orta, Radz and Kinnear with the JKA loan to buy signing sadly potentially up there with the biggest wastes of money far worse than Seth Johnson.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2020 17:56:44
Get Bates! Him and Ridsdale could form the Dream team!

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Aug 2020 18:21:31
Bazooka, nothing could ever top the horrendous Seth Johnson signing! Possibly the worst in top flight football, he cost £7m back in 2001, only got in the pitch 54 times in 4 years and took £40k a week for the privilege, which was about £25k a week more than he went into negotiations to get! That’s how bad Risdale is at negotiating! He should never be allowed to be involved in football.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2020 18:58:21
Lol MG I agree Pistol Pete got the Seth Johnson one badly wrong with transfer fee and salary, but the JKA one is potentially an even far greater loss.

But Ridsdale's signings were nearly all value for money transfer fees on quality players : Viduka, Batty, Bridges, Dacourt, Bakke Matteo, £14 million Leeds profit on Ferdinand, robbie Keane was worth the £12 million we paid for him class player who went on to score loads and loads of goals for spurs

Ridsdale'signings were good value for money quality players ( except Johnson) but he bought too many players in the end and gambled on champions league qualifications.

Success in football can be fine margins Leeds 1 point from Liverpool in.3rd to qualify for champions league again in 2001 etc.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2020 19:01:08
Lol Brighty. Ken Bates best thing since sliced bread 🥴🥴🥴.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2020 20:53:06
Could also mention some less than quality signings like:-
Huckerby, Duberry and Wilcox.
Yes he got deals done quickly but put us into liquidation as a result.
I'd much rather we were cautious as the bad old days are still a recent memory!

Agree2 Disagree0

23 Aug 2020 01:18:37
Let’s not forget Peter Ridsdale’s gamble did not work, result 16years in exile. We all loved that period with O’Leary but sadly it was a false dawn. Lesson learnt hopefully, don’t spend money that you don’t have.

True enough OP.

22 Aug 2020 12:27:52
Ryan Kent and Lewis cook would be very underwhelming signings . How as Lewis cook possibly doubled in value since we sold him? He literally has done nothing and I think it's just paper talk.
I just don't understand how it's taking so long to sort anything, Foyth deal seems to have died off, Nicolas Gonzales has been on the cards for a month and nothing, i think we are priced out the market and transfer fees and salary.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

22 Aug 2020 12:42:10
Give your head a shake. Cook has played 70 odd times in the Premier league and even had an England call up. How would that not increase his value? Plus players are more expensive than when we sold him.

Agree2 Disagree0

22 Aug 2020 13:09:42
Cook's a no for me not over excited about Kent either but I'd take him before Cook still hoping for a couple of plum signings to go with whatever else.

22 Aug 2020 12:15:39
Origi, Cook, Buendia and Koch or Foyth, if we could get these four in it would be a good step.

£25 to £30m for all four would be better than paying that amount to land Ben White.

22 Aug 2020 12:43:03
No chance at 20-30 mill. 60 mill maybe.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2020 13:45:10
Leeds 70 where you buying your players from fantasy football on Xbox or Lidl?

Not very good with the numbers pal, 😂.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2020 14:41:18
Origi wages will be sky high, buendio show prospects early on last season, went flat, not worth more than 10, fotyh gone quiet,
Wilson for me and Koch, were does cook play these days.

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Aug 2020 14:55:54
Agree Richie

Get Koch and Wilson
both would be very good

Also Rodrigo would be class and a step up from what we have.

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Aug 2020 09:38:00
Koch and Kent look like the most likely targets to join first imo.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

22 Aug 2020 10:34:49
Kent 10 mill plus, no thank u.

22 Aug 2020 10:59:06
And Michy Batfink Wotshisname Would be a good addition. He can play the Bielsa way!

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Aug 2020 12:43:55
kent likely to be around £13-£15million.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2020 13:10:53
Kent is no better than what we have . If that is the limit of our ambition it’s a big worry .

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Aug 2020 07:59:21
Lots of talk about transfers in the press and on here but did we ever really think that our first team in the premiership would be very different than our best lineup in the Championship , plus or minus White? Who didn't deserve to be given a chance to walk out against Liverpool? Likely that anyone bought wouldn't have been startibg with the exception of a CB . yes we still need to strengthen but we still have time. Can't wait for kick off!

Believable2 Unbelievable0

22 Aug 2020 08:13:32
No spanishleeds probably not, but it’s up to the management to make sure that we hold are own, and last season showed we needed a striker and now we need a quality defender other wise the good work done will be wasted.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2020 08:15:37
EPL isn’t sentimental mate. I agree they all put tremendous effort in last year. But the jump up in class means some are not good enough. They can all get their chance but let’s start with some intent. No way what we have in defence or attack is good enough.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2020 08:45:35
I said on here a couple weeks ago, the line up on day 1 of prem would be same as the last day of champ season . Except maybe minus Ben White . Even if we signed 2 or 3 they likely will not be first team for a few games .

Agree2 Disagree0

22 Aug 2020 09:33:04
Think any new additions would be playing in the development squad for a couple of months. I’m convinced we will have 2/ 3 players coming in but it may not be before Sept 12th. I don’t think it’s so quick and easy buying quality players these days, I’m sure we would be very surprised by the amount wrangling and negotiating that goes on in these very complex transactions, which are certainly made more difficult by the footballers agents.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2020 09:37:13
I agree Spanish. The first game very much represents a free kick for us. Nobody expects us to get anything from the game realistically, maybe a draw at most, so let's put the team in and see how they cope. If nothing else it will allow us to weigh them up against the best in the world and if they come out with a result or even holding their own then imagine the confidence boost.

22 Aug 2020 11:00:21
Agree Alf. a good performance and a positive result, even be it a draw, would be the launch pad for the season.
