Very good reports coming back from Fleetwood about Charlie Taylor. I am hoping he will be our regular left back from next season regardless of how much money we do or don't have.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agreed that Taylor is a good prospect but I doubt he'll be our first choice left-back next season. There's a big jump between League Two and the Championship/Premiership(fingers crossed). I know Lees did it but we had no decent centre half and weren't pushing for promotion really, we have Warnock and we're up there.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think he will play for Leeds as we will be in prem league next season.

Moan, moan, some people are never happy up to 5th, playing ok and building a future eventually under the current managment regime, we will get to the Premier league.

Interesting that people are beginning to criticise Austin. I stated in a post after going to Derby that his abilities were best described as limited and he was not a leader, people are obviously seeing I was right. He is not good enough, shooting and passing are poor and in lots of games he goes missing, judging by the comments yesterday was prime example. Hey ho, though onwards and upwards.
Tewey

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You appear to be contradicting yourself here a bit Tewey. First you slate people for moaning and then slag players off yourself, whilst patting yourself on the back. good work!

Mad Mick

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with tewey austin is very mediocre to say the least, it is not being critical or moaning to point out the obvious.
the standard of players can be looked at constructively and not through rose tinted glasses, we lack class in many department. the standard of football at times is poor with the long ball the preferred option in most cases, the defense looks uncomfortable most of the time when under pressure and i think we have got out of jail in a lot of our recent games. b.m. can only work with the tools at his disposal. let's face facts we are not the most technically gifted side and investment is needed a.s.a.p. we are light years behind the standard required to sustain stability in the prem.

Most defences look uncomfortable when under pressure- hence the saying under pressure?

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we are doing ok at the moment, it was not to be on Saturday against Barnsley our yorkshire rivals it simply would not go in the back of the net, we did not win, but hey we did not lose either and we have moved up a place too MOT.

Agree0 Disagree0

You will find my friend a good players when 'under pressure' can play his way out of certain situations not the big hoof every time, play football from the back keep the ball, once you kick the ball long its then 50/ 50 instead of having possession. yes there are times you need to kick long not every time, defend in numbers and attack in numbers.

Agree0 Disagree0

Tewey I have been posting as long as you if not longer that Austin is not the "legend" that people say he is. You are right he is mediocre at best. He might have a good ten minutes but will go missing for 80. We need someone who we can play through. Like that little blond haired kid who played centre midfield for Barnsley. Everything went through him ON THE DECK. Whilst posting, my son works on the bars at ER and came home pretty upset on Saturday he was serving Barnsley fans who he says we're the most obnoxious and bad mannered fans he has come across. I hope we are not like that when we go away. JD.

Agree0 Disagree0

My god u have one guy called tewey contradicting himself then another guy calling himself the optimist being a pessimist! Austin is a class player in this division and I hope he makes the step up when we get the the prem and from what I've seen from our defence it looks more solid now than it has done for a long time, clean sheets speak for themselves and how many of those did we used to get under Grayson Mcallister and warnock! We have a good balance now and with the right additions we can push on. And while I'm on it those complaining about our result on sat need to look at other results on the day too, this division is tight again so a point is better than none, we could have easily lost

Agree0 Disagree0

Austin is a limited player I agree but every single championship player is limited. Even look at Ross, he's not exactly quick for a striker and he can't judge the flight of a ball to save his life, but despite that he's a quality championship player. Austin is the same, he's an excellent destroyer and when he drives forward it creates some huge gaps.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cant judge the flight of a ball to save his life? stupid comment you clearly havnt seen him play much

Agree0 Disagree0

Watch him play and when he's in the middle of the pitch with a man next to him he's more bothered about the man next to him than the flight of the ball, seen him play plenty and it happens every game! It's only a small critique.

Read that Chelsea's young winger Gael Kakuta wants out of the club after being loaned constantly since 2010. It's unlikely we will even try to get him but it could be worth a go.

we are still doing very much the same style as warnock! yesterday it was just hoof it towards smith and hope for the best

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I guess that is why we want Gradel mot

Agree0 Disagree0

No it was one player called tom lees that lumped it long everytime the ball came to him at least the other defenders try pass it about

I've said many times we are poor in midfield and never seem to get a full grip on a game. This was clearly demonstrated yesterday when Austin was totally anonymous and both Mowatt and Murphy were substituted. We are a half decent team at the moment but until we get a couple of quality midfielders and a winger that's where we will remain. JD

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Austin can't play well every game just not possible i'm afraid he's been class for us so far this season though anyone that thinks otherwise hasn't been to a game all season.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm a season ticket holder so have been to games, he has had class game but 1 or 2 games out of every 3 he is shocking and disappears.

All he did saturday was run into the barnsley players and give away stupid freekicks.

Agree0 Disagree0

Its oright saying austin is shocking but who excatly is going to take his place name me one player in are squad that would do a better job than him?

Is there any news on the takeover after yesterday's game?

{Ed013's Note - Still awaiting the football league approval}

Football league approval appears to have been ongoing for several weeks!

It's red bull, it may be a coincedamce but the whole night at the christmas party was about red bull. When david haigh went up on stage the red bull logo was on the screen and constant mention of them

Agree0 Disagree0

R3d Bu1l, other than being available at the bar was not mentioned at all at the party. Certainly didn't put the logo on the screen.

The party involved staff at all levels and as the deal has not yet been confirmed it would be ridiculous to think they would be throwing that information about well before a press conference has even been announced.

Agree0 Disagree0

Didn't you see the logo on the screen when david haigh went up to the stage?
The constant jokes about red bull

Agree0 Disagree0

To the last reply. Red Bull was on the screen.

When David Haigh walked up to the baywatch theme tune there was a picture of a red bull can and pamela anderson next to it haha. Think it was all meant as a joke but it was on the screen.

Add wingers and smith will score more than McCormack this season . He's going to be a top asset for us. We need a backup striker for McCormack and there's only 1 striker that could fill that position and he's on loan at reading at moment I think until Jan

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Are you on drugs pal? on 2 occasions yesterday he only had the keeper to beat and failed, he's done this a few times this season, he's also poor in the air for his size, so I can't see how he's capable of scoring more the mcCormack!

Today's performance reiterated out need for another quality striker. Matt smiths performance was very poor. Don't get me wrong the lads done well and is a dangerous impact player but he is no way near the quality we need to step up to the mark if Ross is having a quiet day and should not be starting.

Any rumours re takeover / new signings from
the club party tonight?
Altrincham White

It's red bull, the whole night was about red bull

McDermott, Haigh and Patel told me that we're in talks with his agent.

Also didn't realise we tried to sign him last January, Patel said that they spoke to his agent last year and he didn't seem interested.
