We shouldn't laugh at the misfortune of others, but the red have spent a decade laughing at ours. Well done Sunderland, kept us all gripped 'til the very end. Enjoy Wembley - P.S. and we forgive you for the 1973 FA cup.

Mr Happy.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Er. were you alive in 1973? Don't think I'll ever forgive Bob Stokoe for anything.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well done Gus Poyet and Sunderland, good luck and best wishes for Wembley.

Agree0 Disagree0

It was 41 years ago. I know that in 41 I'll have forgiven the likes of Norwich, I've already let go of my dislike of Doncaster.

Also no, I wasn't alive then and maybe that's why it's easier for me to forgive. Plus I've always had a soft spot for Sunderland (Mostly because I hated a Newcastle fan at school). I hope one day you can find it in yourself to let gripe like 1973 go.

We are Leeds, not petty

Mr Happy

Agree0 Disagree0

That was Leeds lowest point ever 1973, don't let anybody tell you any different . Even Paris 1975 wasn't as bad, especially with Bob Stokoe and the media crowing daily at our demise . They all said we were over the hill, finished, washed up . Then the next year we walked the League and the year after even with a new Manager and injuries we should have beaten Bayern in the final if not for a biased ref . But I will never forgive Stokoe he was a disgrace and never won anything again .

Agree0 Disagree0

No it wasn't the lowest point ever, Paris 75 was lower than that - in 73 we knew we'd bounce back (and we did) but in 75 it was definitely the end of an era. the dismantling of the old Revie team meant the future was uncertain to say the least. How many low points have we had in the last ten years - have you forgotten already? Starting a season in 'Division Three' on minus 15 points amd in administration takes some beating as a low point, mate. Wake up, son and count your blessings. Good luck to Gus and Sunderland. ps. why was Stokoe a disgrace? His team had just beat the best team in the country to win the FA Cup. Wouldn't you celebrate?

Gotta love Gus Poyet. If Wigan can do it, Sunderland can do it :)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I truly hope so, then maybe them and the media can shut up about 1973 lol

I have a feeling leeds united takeover will be announced tomorow the 4 people are david haigh, andrew flowers, peter virdee and massimo cellino mcdermott will also remain as manager and in the summer will bring in a team capable of automatic promoation

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hope you are right! They cannot allow this uncertainty and rumour fervour to continue without some announcement,

Hi Ed013

How is it someone who allegedly has a history of financial wrong doings pass the fit and proper persons requirements allowing involvement in an English football club. More importantantly our club?!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed013's Note - I will be shocked if he has bought the club. It would however point to the hold up if he is part of the consortium as the football league may be looking into him a lot more}

LEEDS UTD TAKEOVER DONE!
Ground now owned by LUFC
Thorpe Arch owned by LUFC
Gold kit extinguished
Old badge reinstated
Multi million pound academy opened
World No1 scout signed by LUFC
Messi, Bale and Aguero all signed
£300 million pound in the pot for future transfers

Leeds UTD don't do takeover. But if they did, it would probably be the best in the world!

Yet again ANOTHER wasted day being a LEEDS fan

NO news what's so ever!!
we all KNOW the take over will not happen before the transfer window closes, we are use to this every transfer window

Give us some information as this is a nightmare for us Leeds Fans!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Didn't GFH tell us they were here for the long haul and not just to make a fast buck? Leeds fans lied to yet again? I just want this nightmare to end and have the club owned by people who want the club to be great again with Quality players. MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

To the last poster GFH will retain a 10% stake in the club after the T/O so they are not going anywhere and they haven't lied to us
I know it's tough all this waiting but don't believe the press and let's wait for official confirmation one way or the other. MOT Ron.

22 Jan 2014 11:56:12
Hi Ed, do you think the deal is now dead or are GFH just squeezing Haigh for a few more quid using the end of window as leverage? Is this Italian a good prospect or is it just paper talk?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed013's Note - No mate, David Haigh knows the potential of the Club and will be desperate for this deal to happen. I suppose it depends on GFH and whether they are being offered more money and if Sports Capital can match it}

22 Jan 2014 09:31:34
Morning ed013.is there any substance in this Cellino rumour.apparently he is trying to hijack the deal?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed013's Note - He did make enquirers, but as far as I know got knocked back. I think he wanted a majority share for himself}

22 Jan 2014 17:49:59
Billy Sharpe signs on loan for Doncaster for the rest of the season - another missed opportunity for us (if we were interested)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yes another striker Mc dermot has let go to another lower club. What the hell is this man doing. We need a proven goal scorer a s a p . Why are nt the board doing something about this problem.

Agree0 Disagree0

Like you I have doubts that we wanted him. He has had spells at Southampton, Reading and Forest but ends up back at Donny. Obviously didn't impress at those other clubs and do we want someone who has failed at those clubs? If we want younger players like Poleon and Smith to have game time and we have the likes of Varney & Hunt as well. I am not sure Sharpe would have been much different to what we have. He hasn't shown he is at other clubs he has been with recently. "Big name" but when did he last perform well? He hasn't been playing much so not been impressing.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bet he scores a few as well.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cant blame BMD its the clowns who are running us at the moment GFH and that muppet Haigh.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Its all a total shambles like our club at moment no body knows their arse from their elbow.

Agree0 Disagree0

NO is the simple answer! Nobody outside Sports Capital or GFH have any idea! Phil Haye and Adam Pope have both admitted this. Chances are anything you hear will be rumour!

Agree0 Disagree0

NO! Nobody outside Sports Capital and GFH have any idea what is going on. The journalists closest to LUFC (Phil Nay and Adam Pope) admit they don't know what hold up is so I would treat with caution any comment claiming to know!

So another season of dissapointment and let downs, Another take over that taking a season to complete and will be to yet another consortium with less money than a big issue seller. The offical site tries to brighten the mood by telling us that Noel Hunt is ready to come back!! Sorry for being synical but is that really good news? The guy is over the hill and was when we took him if he is all we have to look forward to then god help us. As usual is us the fans who are kept in the dark and know little or nothing about the running of our club and passion. I would love to say sod it and stop going but I cant, I love the club and the fans just feel the club don't feel the same about us.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

22 Jan 2014 14:56:28

22 Jan 2014 14:50:17
If this takeover collapses I don't think it will ever happen, because who is going to pay sports capital there money back, because they have been financing lufc for the last 6 mths, they will want to pass that debt onto any possible owner and they won't want that.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

22 Jan 2014 12:11:48
If cellino takes over McDermott is a dead man walking, his record of sacking managers makes Bates look like employer of the year, also wasn't he getting prosecuted for fraud or something simular last year?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

36 managers in 20 yrs, ouch.watch your back mcdermott

Agree0 Disagree0

He's worth 800 million so hopfully if it his him he will spend well

Agree0 Disagree0

Judging by Cagliari current squad and the value of their players he will back mcdermott. If brian does not spend the money well then he probably will get the sack.

Lots of opinion regarding the TO, from what I can ascertain the FL have approved the stakeholders therefore I can only see 2 possible reasons for the lack of completion: 1. GFH are holding out for more money and are using the transfer window for leverage. If DH's consortium are not prepared to be extorted then the transfer window will pass and the TO will be completed as GFH will have lost their position of power and they have already committed to selling their stake (announcement to Bahrain Stock Exchange). 2. The consipracy theory - DH's consortium are to purchase GFH's stake but are delaying the purchase until after the January transfer window. Excuses of not enough time to make transfers, GFH would not ratify signings, can't get value in January transfer market, quality players available for free in summer. Blah. Blah. Blah. I am struggling to think of any other reasons as to why the TO has not completed and why we are not strengthening the squad

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Obviously the agreement which both sides are said to have signed didn't say deal must be completed by certain time. Did this suit both parties? Based on David Haigh etc comments they should have said deal needed to be completed by a time that allowed them to invest in team in this window.

Agree0 Disagree0

I am convinced that the offer being considered from Cellino is a smoke screen which will cause the TO to be delayed until after 31st January. GFH and Sport Capital are already in bed together as the consortium have supposedly loaned £6m to GFH to keep the club going. This loan would have to be paid back if they sold elsewhere. I hope I am wrong because otherwise it would mean that David Haigh truely is a BS merchant! and tweets involving Red bull and coffee with billionaires would just show he is leading the club's fans on and that should not be tolerated

Agree0 Disagree0

Its in everybodies(apart from the team & fans)interest to finalise takeover AFTER january window. Reenforce the squad in closed season. More money to spend, players are cheaper/free. Only problem team?& fans suffer with possible relegation battle, paying to watch substandard players, losing at home & away & poor attendances!

MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

What money, just been sold by one skint tin pot organisation (Bates) to another (gfh) and now to even more tin pot skint consortium, don't see other clubs issuing statements about summer rather than jan window buys, fantastic club been treated like paying mugs

Agree0 Disagree0

I am sick to death of this bull**** when is this club going to MOT? We miss out on Wells to Hudd and now Sharpe to Donny. Don't we need a striker? Are we just writing this season off? We need Quality players or this nightmare will just continue.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Jan 2014 09:46:01
Yes, the TO is really frustrating but let's remember that 1) no Ken 2) we have the best manager in years 3) we have signed players that would not have happened under Ken: Murphy, Kebe, Stewart 4) we have kept Ross, he would have gone before for a quick £ 5) we have youth coming through and a more integrated set up 6) lower ticket prices and 7) more engagement with the fans! Give Bmd time.

MOT Ged Marple

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The last poster has to be joking.
1. BMD?- Jury still out. Players in, tactics and results. - not good.
2. Consortium? - Jury still out. Not that transparent and just a few quid to the fans easily done and doesn't meean much in the scheme of things.
3. Money made available? - Not much and badly spent. Promises not kept and money blocked when a player actually wanted to come to leeds but had to actually bought. By the way getting Fryatt would be money down the drain.

Agree0 Disagree0

Best manager in years yet were on the worst run we've been in in years.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why is it that everyone jumps on the band wagon! We've had a new manager for no time at all, give BMD chance to get things sorted! He can't just wave a magic wand. Look at Moyes at Man U things take time. BMD IS THE MAN FOR THE JOB! Now why don't all you moaners take a step back and look where we were under bates!

Total and utter shambles, the rest of the league must be laughing at us, It just get worse every day. The team is poor, we have signed a load of donkeys and we are being led by donkeys. Don Revie must be turning in his grave to see what is happening to this once great club. Ross get out now and further your career no genuine Leeds fan would blame you.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Sorry but that's a silly post.
now its frustrating that takeover not sorted and I agree side nowhere near good enough, but to wish our best player away? come on, youl soon be moaning if he went.
lets see if takeover collapses or not first, then if it does who we sign, then how we play.
if its all bad news then ross may want to leave but let's get the facts before that kind of post. shrew leeds

can't see it been Harvey . I thought about it but then thought how unrealistic that 1 guy could be able to stop the deal going through when there will be leeds united fans working there as well . they wouldn't just stand by and watch that happen.
when gfh bought leeds it took the piss and everyone blamed bates (me included ) but now I believe its ghf that held that deal up and are now holding this deal up . i'm guessing it will be tax related

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Have to agree with this post, don't know whether I completely trust gfh don't have a lot faith in them either at the moment I, m afraid .

Wes Hoolahan has handed in a transfer request. Come on BMcD, let's have one coming the other way for a change.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Not what we need really, as we are going to play 4-4-2. As our wide players are very lightweight our 2 central midfielders have to be strong, dominating and control the midfield area.
Also I think young Chris Dawson could be another Hoolahan given a chance.

Agree0 Disagree0

He'll go villa with Lambert

Norwich will want sum of money that is way out of our league plus his wages and the fact that a host of Premiership teams are after him. Pointless post really.

Truth is always somewhere in between. I strongly suspect FL approval has been given "subject to" receipt of certain skeleton esque documents pertaining former ownership which is tainting the company which owns Leeds United. GFH may have shares in what owns the company that owns Leeds but I suspect some undesirable stuff is attached to the holding entity and the ground. I bet you anything if such document is revealed to FL not only will it cause a separate investigation it could cause Bates to have a law suit for breach of confidence indemnities that kind of thing as he looked to hush up the deal. These are the problems when you aim to acquire a company only recently acquired by someone else 9 months earlier. We could be stuck as a poor club for a very long time unless FL want to cave in and turn blind eye. When was the last time any football authority did us a favour?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If that was the case previously then how did GFH buy the club.

It won't be anything to do with that it will be down to payment terms maybe change in exchange rate that needs to be taking into account or something.

Nothing to do with FL approval as GFH wouldn't have been able to get approval when they bought it

Agree0 Disagree0

It will be nothing to do with payment. Money is a number and it's certain it goes into an agreement and that is notified to Stock Exchange. This is something else. Think about it. If the issue is that internal, why haven't the FL sanctioned the deal with approval only for GFH to tell us not necessary deal is off? GFH can't back out now. It's the FL they are the hold up and it's causing a legal not a commercial problem. I think our club is doomed.
