Diego Llorente transfer fee agreed with Real Sociedad.

Worryingly the Sociedad fans seem really pleased that someone has bought him.

Yes George and that’s £60m spent on three very poor first team signings . Rodrigo I 100% agree with you on . He’s a luxury player unsuited to our style . Would have preferred Watkins even at the price Villa paid . Llorente, Sociedad fans are doing cartwheels in the streets with the thought he’s leaving for nearly £20 m ( no pace, one footed and gives away pens with even more largesse than Koch ) and Koch may come good but after his 2 appearances and culpable for three goals jury is out .

The fans seem to report that Llorente is full of errors so I share your concerns. Let's see how things turn out though, all we need is for him to be better than what we have and we will be in an improved position.
Still think it's a bit early to judge the other 2.

RHC

OMG, we have seen very little of Koch or Rodrigo in a white shirt and yet again you are tearing in to our players.
Did your granddad get frightened by the Leeds team bus in the 60's?
You write as if it's your money they are wasting.

You state you would prefer Watkins to Rodrigo. Really? A young man who has never played in the Premier League over a seasoned striker who is consistently picked for one of the best national teams in the world?

And you say the jury is out over the German international centre back, Koch. What jury is this? because it's not one that include the German national team's committee, or the Leeds United management team, or their bank manager either.

Sat here in the hot tub of hope I see my team buying 2 Spanish internationals and 1 German international. We are not talking Moldova or Malta. We are talking top nations here. I also see us only ever being one goal behind the World Club Champions and Premier League champions. I saw us put 3 goals past them at their ground.
I saw us being 3 goals ahead of a newly promoted side. I saw us pulled back to 4-3 with 20 minutes to play and still emerge with all 3 points (a game we may have lost 18 months ago)

Whats with all the negative doom and gloom for crying out loud.
Admittedly Rodrigo hasn't had the best of starts, but only coming on as sub in a crazy first game and out of position for the second because Pablo got injured. let's face it, if he was only bang average, he wouldn't be getting picked for Spain, and let's face it, Spain are a way better team than England!
Koch is getting up to speed and is a far better defender and footballer than Cooper, and IMO will have a great season. Pundits have said both penalties against him shouldn't have stood, nothing anyone could have done about them, the only mistake was the Van Dyke goal, which in fairness was a perfectly worked set piece by them.
I don't know much about this new chap Llorente, but many pundits rate him, and more importantly, so must MB, so lets' get a bit more upbeat and be excited instead of complaining that we should have bought Watkins, who was well over priced, but Villa are plumbs who pay over the odds for all players and still fail.
If we get one of the midfielders we are talking about: De Paul, Pulgar or Joao Mario, we will have a great season.

Great reply axe, this constant knocking of players after 2 games is ridiculous, last summer when we signed White, how many were saying wat a great player, future international blah blah blah, none, probably loads of negativity about a league 1 player, and look how that turned out.

Hmm RHC ' very poor ' first team signings?

Really!? Is it not a tad unfair and unreasonable to make such presumptuous hyperbole RHC? One of whom hasn't even played a minute yet in a Leeds United shirt.

When one, or more likely all three, of these internationals turn out not to be ' VERY POOR 'signings RHC will you be offering to get a Kock or Rodrigo tattoo on your touche a la Berm style to compensate your shock jock type post? 😁.

Seen a few posts about our new signings getting up to speed and getting used to the english game. Our only first team signings are international footballers. They'll take time to get used to what's required from them in bielsas style of play, we've seen that with a lot of players already. The thing I don't get is the whole, english game, talk. Football is football, pep, wenger, klopp, and next arteta, have all destroyed this so called english game, even bielsa and nuno in probably the toughest league in the world. This myth of the english game doesn't exist, as there are so many different teams with different styles of play, you can't be telling me city, burnley, leeds, liverpool, stoke, rotherham, all play the same type of football, it doesn't exist. Our players will do as well as they are capable of and if they're not good enough the manager will send them packing.

It’s a great post Samo. The one thing I would say about “The English game”, is that it is played at a much greater intensity, with fewer “lame” passages of play, where players drop the pace, and take a breather. Like you say, the old English, physical game is long gone!

The only difference with the "English game" I can see is the action in every third of the pitch whereas the continentals have a habit of giving up the middle of the park and, at times, playing at a slower, more technical, pace. But I do tend to agree with you that the foreign imports both players and managers have homoginised our game and in the end it's all just Football!

'The English game'isnt a particular style. I think it is the game as it is played in England, which is still quicker and more physical than in other leagues.

Samo By "English game", I don't mean the mid 1980s with Motty's sheepskin coat in all weathers, Big Ron Atkinson, Howard Kendall, Graeme Souness, jumpers for goalposts, flick ons at the near post with Mick Harford, Tony Cascarino scoring powerful headers or legendary poachers fastest to react over half a yard of space in a mudfest such as Tommy Tynan, Jimmy or Micky Quinn. I mean the modern game as it is now. You see the thing about 2020 is it's real, it's happening and it's right now. So by "English game", I mean the very successful changes and version brought by Wenger and carried on by Pep, Klopp etc. Fergie also improved the old style. Obviously not all teams have silky skill midfielders and a Ben White at the back. When Burnley get the ball, you don't think here comes their Manchester City type midfield, you think physicality and they'll rely on set pieces, corners etc. That part of the game still exists. In the Championship, there are other teams who are more physical than others such as Berm's beloved Millwall. The point is this. Newsflash. Wenger managed Arsenal for a quarter of a century and left a blueprint which isn't going away. The upper end of the English game is now fast, flowing and appealing on the eye hence the massive commercialization of the sport. The PL boast the best players. Liverpool are world class, favourites for everything, the best side in the world right now. If you tried to buy their front 3, you'd need minimum £600m. This is the modern English game I'm referring to so you're right when you say foreign coaches came in and destroyed the English myth but your remark is misleading and naive. These coaches are still here! This is the (new, if that makes things easier but it's been going on for years) English game at the highest level. Not all foreign players take to this quick demanding style and again from what I've seen I have concerns over Rodrigo and the fee paid.
