What a joke to be strongly linked with Jerry Mbakogu. Hopefully it's all paper talk but he does seem the sort Orta goes for Russian loan = 0 in 7. Serie B = 6 in 21 and just one good season 14/15, 15 in 30. If we want a player to run the channels and ever so occasionally score then surely we have that on the books already. While he's chasing Mbakogu why not grab Asley Fletcher, 1 in 14 sounds just right for Orta.

I already have no confidence in this summers recruitment programme and if we do sign either Mbakogu or Fletcher it really will urinate on my hopes for next season. Mbakogu has suspect knee and is hardly prolific anyway and Fletcher has done nothing since he rejected us for West Ham so what on earth is he going to give us now. McBurnie, Yiadom? bang average! now Mitrovic would be good, he may be a bit of a maverick but he scores goals. Abel Hernandez, Ryan Fredericks, Kyle Bartley, George Saville. A better calibre

Agree scoops. Can’t see anything changing. In fact I think Radz might think job done with all the oversee young crap we bought. And no major new signings needed. I can’t see anything in Radz talk that gives me any confidence.

Radz mistake. Too many long-term contracts to players he'll be advised to get rid but no-one will take on their wages. This was something his predecessor Cellino understood perfectly. Lesson. You only give such contracts to players you know for fact other teams above you want. Okane and Cooper. Enough said. Radz should use the combined knowledge of posters on this site because his current advisors are poor.

I believe it is very difficult and in most cases for a club to bring on youngsters who will be good enough to gain promotion all at the same time. We have Vierra Phillips, Pearce and BPF in at the moment. Vierra is almost there, Phillips is not good enough, O'Connor is still to prove himself but not a bad start and BPF is coming along nicely. There are a few others coming along in the development squads that will hopefully make the grade. None of all the ones I have mentioned are good enough collectively to step into the first team squad without the support of good quality experienced players around them. The maximum you could possibly play at the same time would be four - spread out though the team. No more than one in the back four, one in mid field and one wide or up front. Then there's the GK. That I think would still be pushing it until they have had a lot more experience. Some may benefit from being loaned out. This Summer there fore we need at least three high quality additions - rather than seven or eight average or below average journeymen. Striker (in the Ings mould) , Midfielder (in the McCallister mould and a Centre half ( in the Bartley mould - I was going to say J Charlton but he's a bit old) . Then a GK (hopefully much better than BPF but if none available at least good enough to keep him on his toes) . The GK would be four so that would be a bonus.

Bring in s proven top class manger that’s a good start

Who do you suggest whiteman? Flores, Marco Silva or even Arsene Wenger. All sound interesting but they are probably not necessarily interested. Like players managers/coaches get paid on their previous success so therefore it is highly unlikely we hire a manager of that ilk. Finding a manager like Dyche or Wagner, which is what we need with our budget, will be extremely difficult but not impossible. Give us a few names and maybe Rad might be reading.

23 Apr 2018 21:58:54
Absobloodylutely Whiteman! We have to recruit from the very top so let’s not hang around for six games in to realise Rockbottom is no good, get rid now and get a top class manager and start the season as we mean to go on like Wolves and many before them, Espírito Santo - Wolves, Rafa Benitez - Newcastle, Chris Houghton - Brighton, Sean Dyche - Burnley, and many more, all class managers, non of the managers we have had apart from Warnock have done anything! It’s time to learn by our mistakes!

Like Terry Vegetables when we brought him in? The guy who masterminded and led the best England team since Bobby Robson? There's no point having Tiger Woods' driver, when all you have is a dog poop on a stick to hit!

Mikewoody sorry mate but that last post was the most nonsensical post I've read since ausman went on one! let's recruit from the very top top shall we? WTF are you talking about? OK I say its me, because i'm still bambozzled to it all geezer and just back from a family holiday and very little Leeds chat, but WTF. Cmon! Who does Mike want as manager?

Agree1 Disagree1

24 Apr 2018 12:17:28
Mikewoody 100% mate any of them are better then what we have at this time, corkwhite see above Mikewoody post, I would also add AW to the list, we are Leeds and that carry’s a big responsibility and Radz should understand that and deal with that in mind, yes I know it’s going to cost, but he was told that by his mate and keep trying to do on the cheap will not work, in fact the amounts that he’s spent buying 28 players could and should have been used more wisely, perhaps then we wound not be in the mess, to achieve the best get the best, not crap as we have done, it’s simple

Why not say sod it for Norwich and QPR and just play some young guns. Possibly Clarke or Edmundson with Rey in midfield and a couple more on the bench ready. Of course the crowd, as they enter, must first sign a promissory note not to get on their backs if they make mistakes. Certainly the only way to see how they will react to a proper game is give them a go. Even if just 45mins keep them keen. I guarantee that once tasted they will be more than eager next year to see some action. I always remember a manager in the 40s (can't remember who it was) used to ban the footballs in training in the theory that it will make them all the eager, come Saturday.

Hosannah, Rey, Clarke and Dalby all need to come in based on the drubbing the 23's have just dished out again tonight. Maybe for the last game, just to let them experience a full Elland road, against an average qpr team.

As the whole debate over Orta rages on, I would actually keep him in the club but it's his job title and role which wants a demotion and limiting. By all means he should be our Mediterranean youth scout but nothing more. He seems to have an ability to identify and acquire possible gems but that's it. He should have no extra role. Director of football is laughable. Give that role back to the manager in this case Hecky but don't see him lasting long either. We should really tempt Wenger with a new project in the summer. As for Orta, he should be nowhere near making first team player recruitment decisions but he does have a small applicable use. If only Radz would see that but he ain't a football person. To an extent we are still smarting from the shutdown of the academy by Massimo but we are back up and running on that now so it's time to award Orta his true title and if he don't like it he can sling his hook. I never liked him. I told all you guys after his first presser.

A good post George. I agree a scouting post at best for him or he can do one. Would love to see Wenger come in as you say, but Radz seems to be content shopping in the bargain basement.

Agree5 Disagree2

23 Apr 2018 11:25:30
There's nothing wrong with scouting in the bargain basement if that's all you can afford. I would love to buy from Harvey Nicks but you are more likely to find me in the market. I make the best of what I can afford and sometimes I stumble on real bargains.

23 Apr 2018 12:27:24
Fair point, but we are talking about Leeds United here, and getting bargain basement signings we will always struggle to get the promotion everybody who supports the Club want to see.

With the mention of Mr Wenger, I'm sure he was a man to go and find some outstanding youths from overseas, offer him the DoF role, although he will be moved upstairs at the gooners

Has everyone on here been smoking some seriously strong strain of super skunk or something? Wenger ! Wenger! Really? We’ve got more chance of platting diarrhoea! Most of Europe’s elite will be making offers to Wenger not to mention the Chinese and Japanese and probably the MLS offering insane pay, so I ask again why would Wenger come to leeds? I love our club but it’s time a lot of the fans took a huge reality check! We are no longer a big draw we are no longer a big club we are a small team. The only thing big about our club is it’s fans and our loyalty. I genuinely fear I will never see my beloved club back where it belongs.

Great post George. Orta as you say has a role to play but not as now. Its time to hire a manager with control over the first team and Orta as chief of overseas scouting. Heres hoping.

24 Apr 2018 05:05:40
Thanks guys. As for Wenger, of course it's unrealistic but that's what we should be doing. He won't go upstairs at Arsenal immediately or at all because the new manager will feel intimidated. Neither will he manage a team presently in the PL. No point. He would need a different project. He'll get offers for sure from China but maybe money isn't important to him and maybe staying in England is. He's been complimentary about Leeds in the past. Maybe a million pound a year salary would tempt him and chance to work with our youngsters. Radz needs to aim higher than wot the.

Agree4 Disagree2

{Ed001's Note - I would not expect you can compete with PSG Georgie. They have a role for him. Especially as Wenger has very publicly said he does not want to work for another English club other than Arsenal. Doesn't hurt to try though I guess.}

24 Apr 2018 05:49:34
Ed001 PSG well and truly out of our league. Surely though the allure of Yorkshire folk, working with the likes of Sacko, Grot and that defensive genius Cooper would be sufficient to see him work at ER and refuse those millions a year working in your home country for a highly successful and financially mighty club?

Agree5 Disagree2

{Ed001's Note - like I said it would be worth a try, as obviously PSG's pittance can't compare with the draw of the Yorkshire Dales. I just think his insistence he does not want to work for another English club other than Arsenal might sway him towards the lesser option of little PSG.}
