Hi all, do u guys think we should stick with the 352/532 formation or go with a 442? I know we have done ok recently and would it be worth risking the change? I personally prefer the 442 with the big man little man combo up top. Roll on january, mot, vinny.

I'd personally prefer a 4-3-3 with Austin holding and Mowatt and Murphy running the pitch in the middle. A 4-4-2 would surrender too much possession and allows for teams to over run us

Stick with 3-5-2 until the wingers arrive then drop Lees to make room for the new arrivals go with flat back 4 drop Austin deeper to provide protection and tell Max and Burke to scare full backs and crosses for Smith and Ross. Simples.

We just need to have the players available to change things up if we are getting beat . Even if we signed gradel and a new striker it doesn't mean we have to change formation and throw them straight into the starting lineup. It would be great to have some quality on the bench . Just do a gradual change . No point signing similar players to what we already have because if we start getting sussed out we won't be able to change formation still.

We do need players to be able to change that's a good point, I just don't think the midfield is good enough at the moment, the 442 would be better for max if he returns, i'm just sick of the 433's and 4231's too. Would like to see max, dorrans, and a striker. Vinny.

Agree0 Disagree0

Austin isn't good enough to be a holding player. He has one or two good games and then loads of bad games. I would prefer bridcutt if that is possible, Vinny.

For heavens sake the only time Austin, Murphy and Mowatt have run midfield is second half home versus Watford. Some of you don't seem to watch the games. I'll bet we get overrun in midfield tonight at Blackpool and lose. But I hope I am proved wrong.JD

just been watching the marching on together video on the os, it feels every time you look on the site, the club is going in the right direction, I see haigh as a genuine leeds fan who like us all have been in the wilderness, but he's definately doing what has been lacking in the last few years and bringing the community of leeds back in to the forfront, including the kids, making it more accessable for them to enjoy the game. There will be a future a good future.

On reflection Saturday's performance was not ideal and was a game that we could have won or lost 2-0. The midfield battle was key and I felt that Barnsley had the upper hand. This game brought home the necessity to strengthen in January as we had limited resources available to change our style of play or replace poor performing players. Austin had one of those games that he drifted in and out, McCormack did not have the rub of the green (however we cannot always rely upon Ross), Smith is premier league in the air and sunday league on the ground (maybe a tad harse as he is improving). I think we under estimated Barnsley and therefore played too many direct balls to Smith which became a bit predictable. On the positives, we kept a clean sheet, Zaliukas continues to impress, Pearce and Kenny had good games and Lees defended well but needs to learn how to distribute the ball better

Spot on although I wouldn't even agree that smith is prem in the air. Maybe he is when he comes on as an impact sub but he looked very tired after the first half and lost a lot on chalenges in the air

2nd poster - you are probably correct regarding Smith's aerial ability, I was (poorly) trying to identify that he is better in the air than on the ground (should have wrote that really)
