Mr Balboa hit a rather good winner for the U-23s against Sheffield Thursday and what a finish from Hirst. We need to sign him. One for the future ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜‰

IF it's true that Hecky is flexing his muscles leaving O'Kane out the I don't give much chance for Coops and De Bock this weekend

Did i miss something. Bock was poor and a few others. But i didn't think coops was that bad.

Agree0 Disagree8

23 Feb 2018 11:45:27
For me coops is at best a squad player, However for me with what's available to us he his the best partner for janson. Regarding debock drop him to the bench Anita at right back and the swiss army knife over to left back.

Agree5 Disagree1

23 Feb 2018 12:08:44
I personally persevere with Pennington and jansson I think Pennington is a better footballer is control and bringing it out of defence is far better Cooper is all left foot useless with his right and as been stated many times by me and others he is a liability and not captain material.

23 Feb 2018 12:47:29
One bad game and everyone calls foe them to be dropped, de bock has been OK up to the Derby game, I remember people saying beradi should never play LB again and people want him there

Agree5 Disagree3

23 Feb 2018 13:26:51
I for one have never said beradi should never play at left back again. The guy gives 100% every time he pulls on the shirt.

Agree2 Disagree0

23 Feb 2018 13:55:35
I think berahdi in any position. Coops over pennington. Coops is captain by managers and players. I suggest this is for a reason. Granted pen more calm and better on the ball but no passion! De bock needs time and did have a nightmare against derby but. He was $3mill! ?

Agree2 Disagree3

23 Feb 2018 14:02:59
Agree Aussie. Berardi goes on the team sheet automatically for me. I'd play him in goal rather than leave him out

Agree3 Disagree1

23 Feb 2018 14:04:52
Letting players pick the captaincy is a sign of weakness by the manager like Christiansen did Cooper is no better than a squad player he was lucky he didn't give a penalty away other night for shirt pulling he's a liability and not a leader.

Agree3 Disagree1

23 Feb 2018 14:13:44
So. that's 3 managers and all the players that are wrong and a few on here are right. Shirt pulling? Cmon. Every player does that. Some you win some you lose. Coops won that one.

Agree2 Disagree2

23 Feb 2018 14:34:11
What makes you think Heckingbottom will stick with Coops as you call him ( was is he a mate of yours ) as captain the league table doesn't lie where in that position for a reason we have average squad players and Coopers one of them. You say three managers have chosen him maybe it's time for a change then because it's obviously not working midfield man for me for captain Forshaw gets my vote at the moment he's our best midfielder.

Agree5 Disagree1

23 Feb 2018 17:02:22
Yes Gelderd. I'd go with Forshaw

Anyway. I disagree with new ruling. I think if teams have earnt the right during the season to play a weakened team in any game then, good luck to them. Each individual team is in control of their own destiny. If they can't get safe then its their own fault.

I agree Ausman. If a club plays an understrength team and loses then more than he fool them. On the other hand, if by doing this they refresh tired players then that is a strategic decision. Either way it should be their call to make. Let them live or die by their choices, but let it be their choice. The season is long and demanding and all clubs should have the right to manage their squad as they see fit.

Agree3 Disagree0

23 Feb 2018 10:05:54
I remember in the good old days Leeds fielding a weakened side and being fined by the football league for doing so. despite the fact we had won! I can see the logic of the current approach but it is fraught with loopholes. For example how do you prove a player is injured or not and then miraculously recovers? Will end up being a potential legal quagmire What happens if a team is penalised? They lose points? What happens if that means they miss out on automatic promotion? What if on appeal the decision is overthrown and the points are reinstated?

I hope this post is allowed. It's Leeds related because it affects Leeds. What gives on this new EFL rule which comes into force after next weekend? 10 outfield players from previous league game? 10? Seriously? Consequences if no satisfactory reason given? Really? So imagine the following fairly non-dramatic scenario of say Cooper having a mare and you want to drop him altogether, Okane headbutting another opponent getting sent off and suspended and PML or Dallas needing more family time. That's 3 forced omissions right there from perfectly plausible reasons. Deduction of points? Fines? Really? I understand the rule comes out of what naughty Dog Botherers did to Blackburn last season but I don't get the logic with the "10 rule". 5 or 6 yes I agree. 10? That's the full outfield compliment. Am I missing something? Are we now playing Rugby League numbers? #weird

{Ed001's Note - they don't have to be in the team George, just in the squad. Remember the squad is 18 players, so 10 of those had to have been in the squad in the previous game, not the team, don't worry. It still allows 8 changes in the squad and/or team from the previous game.}

23 Feb 2018 05:48:01
Thank you for the explanation Ed001. It wasn't particularly clear from the news segment I read. In that case, maybe the rule don't go far enough. It means you just put your best players on the bench in a Dog Botherers scenario. Maybe the Football League can solve other Leeds conundrums like why is Wieldwald a "goalkeeper"? Why is Cooper our club captain and why does he ply his trade in the championship? What is Roofe's best position? And why couldn't the Football League have banned Okane for the rest of the season?

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I hope I am right, as I do agree, having read a few news reports they do not make it clear at all and I am beginning to wonder if I read the EFL's statement wrong or if they just didn't understand it!}

23 Feb 2018 06:18:34
Thanks Ed001 but I believe with your evaluation it only permits 6 alterations not 8. "Outfield" players eliminates goalkeepers so matchday squad of 18 minus 2 equals 16. 16 minus 10 is 6 so only 6 changes permissible, perhaps not the 8 you described. So the rule not exactly that restricting after all?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - ah good point, I was not taking that into account! I completely forgot about keepers. Now it makes sense and is constricting but should give room for injuries and suspensions and allow a change or two. Now it makes sense and seems about right.}

23 Feb 2018 07:00:49
Ed001 Does the rule carry over to a brand new season from fixture 46 to fixture 1 in the August? If it does, I can see relegated teams infringing and those clubs planning an overhaul.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it only applies to the final few fixtures of a season. It is basically just to stop teams that would otherwise have nothing to play for putting out reserve and youth teams when they face teams battling for promotion or against relegation.}

23 Feb 2018 08:39:31
Glad that's all sorted out then? Wield and goalkeeper in the same sentence. A true magician georgy.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - is that not what is known as 'poetic license'?}

23 Feb 2018 08:46:19
Lol. Too right ed. I think wields name should go down as a swear word from now on and we can all see what clever replacements u come up with!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I could pick a theme and you have to guess what it is from the words chosen? When someone gets it right I will pick a new theme for the changes and so on.}

23 Feb 2018 09:38:48
Deal. Sounds fine. i'm pretty sure i'm the smartest on here. If i don't guess it. It will be down to the time diff!

Reasons to be cheerful We are improving. We are at times playing some pretty decent football. Ph has nailed the subs and i believe is closer within 3 games of choosing our best 11 than tc got all season. Derby were a good team. Best I've seen other than wolves. We just about held our own and were unlucky not to win. Def getting better with more optimism. However. Not sure if I've mentioned this before. Get that fing keeper off the pitch. i'd rather cheek or berahdi in goal. Wield is absolutely useless and at fault once again for both goals. Vierra was poor. Bock was poor. Hernandez in first half was poor. Forshaw also got caught on the ball a few times. We gave the ball away far too much and put ourselves under pressure too much. If we can manage to pass to our own players like derby did, we will start to dominate more games. Pluses. Saiz. Alioski. Dallas. Berahdi. Lassoga. can't agree with most re cooper. I think we are more solid with him and pontus than pennington and pontus. We will win saturday.
