I would be amazed if Radz expected promotion this season. Don't forget all the hierarchy at the club are new to us, very few with experience of the championship. I honestly think this season is about building the club up (from a low base) buying the stadium, plans in place for new training facilities etc. I think the purchase of hopefully quality young players now means we will have production line ready to go into the first team in the next couple of seasons without the need to spend fortunes. Personally I've accepted that going up this season will be an unexpected bonus. It makes the defeats easier to take and the games we play well and win even more enjoyable. πŸ˜€

Part of the 5 (2) year plan must be not only to pick up raw diamonds but also to keep hold of them. Hope Samu has a 40mil release clause.

Danum. Good post! But his aim was to go one better than last year. Personally speaking, i always expect promotion every year. The premier league has lots of teams that didn't spend heaps to get there. Just had a good season. Why shouldn't we be able to do that without a 3-5 year plan.

Unless the players we signed this year are absolute garbage we should be aiming higher than last year. Have to question the recruitment for me if it's not TC that is to blame. Only Saiz for me is a real improvement over any of the squad from last year from what we have seen so far and we have let 3 quality players go that have not been replaced. Unless we fill the obvious gaps in Jan I think around 13th will be decent for us this season.

seen a lot of posts on here are negitive, I do understand why but I don't think it is that bad wolves are good team to lose to them is fine, however it is the results agaisnt poor teams like millwall that bother me. think we need a keeper and left back but think rest of squad is good enough (cooper has improved but maybe cb as well) personally I think the manager needs to go get in big sam with big bonus if we go up. he will sort defence and get most from what is as good a squad and first team as most teams in leauge. we have some very good players and enough about us to go up with right game plan

We like his passion and commitment to the cause but it's telling that the likes of Berardi are now being exposed for their lack of actual footballing quality. The team has improved skill wise elsewhere and a few can't keep up. Replacements are needed in certain positions but I would prefer that to happen in January with TC still in charge. We cannot get a defensive midfielder just now so Shaughnessy as a sweeper is a definite option for me - and perhaps he could take the goal kicks for Lonergan too, as we know he can pass the ball! Pulis and his like are sound managers but I actually don't want us to go to places like Wolves and shut up shop for a draw. I want us to morph into a team that attacks. This is going to take a little time -but if they can get it right we could be in for a treat in a year or so. And that was a superb pass from Saiz and a wonderful finish from Alioski wasn't it!

Agreed manston, however there's just no evidence that players will be moved around to provide more cover etc. We change it round once, which appeared to work, then went back to normal. It's all well and good us all saying this is what needs to be tried etc, but at the end of the day the only person who either can't see it, or isn't prepared to try it is the person who can do these things, which ultimately I think will cost him his job! Am I right in thinking we're only 9 points off a relegation battle now? Apart from the first 5/6 games it's relegation form, probably the worst for in the division. People were having a go at moyes for his job at Sunderland, but I honestly don't think TC has a better record. There's always one team who has a barnstormer of a start, but come may are either fighting relegation or hovering just below mid table. At the moment, unfortunately I think that could well be us!

Can agree with most of the post so far, at this point we are trying to build a promotion winning side who can be top half prem. Like everyone on here the people at the club can see the weaknesses and should know what is required . We have a number of players who are only squad standard and we are asking them to perform to a consistently higher standard than their ability every week. There are also a number in the squad who have not shown they are up to it week in week out . We need to strengthen down the spine, a left back and a couple of good pacy attacking wingers . Its not completely broken but there is still some major tweaking to be done to get it right

Spot on PA it's the spine that needs attending to GK-CD-STKR. GK, Spend big or relook at BPF. CD, Spend big or use Shaughnessy
STKR, Spend big or pray somebody comes good. The rest have shown they have the talent, the only question mark is consistency. I am not saying that other areas are fine but if these three problems are sorted a major change will be felt. Budget 6mill for each spot altho Samu has shown that talent is there for much less just far more of a gamble.

I'd argue 2 have cut it. Saiz obviously but Alioski now showing a bit of form. Samo, we are not good enough. Part of the modern game is strength and physicality. We lack a spine. This is why we concede and get turned over. We are a good team if we get a spine but realistically we won't have one until next August.

I have 5 things to say What ifs don't count. Goals do! I got diff stats to you battie but they converted 75% of theirs we only converted 25%! If we lose against barnsley, sack tc! How about playing 2 strikers. Roofe and ekuban? And dropping an attacking midfielder or at least rotating them. So what if wolves spent 50-60 mill. They are going up!

Too right Aussie. For the right match 2 up front is worth a try with Shaughnessy patrolling in front of the back four. Certainly something that that could at least be tried on the training ground.

Lonergan and Cooper are not even good enough for our development squad.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

23 Nov 2017 15:01:02
Lonnie a has been. Cooper a never was. Our goalkeeping situation so dire if we had a certain South African central defender still at the club we'd be sticking him in nets instead. Only who would fill his void in defense? Cooper? Don't think so. In January we need 5 new players. Everyone knows which positions.

23 Nov 2017 16:45:15
What really shows is that you need a bit of quality if you had have kept green and signed a decent c/h with coops as back up I wonder how we would have done . Lassie looked good at first but I don't think his right for this league he just does not muck in enough . For me it would be a case raiding other clubs when you think we were linked with Flint etc before the season started. Saiz, Ali and Euk all look good enough as for Pav he has not even featured to my knowledge . Coops for me is back-up and not captain material and Lonners looks more re-assured in goal but his kicking is dire .

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Nov 2017 17:14:21
Lonners looks more re assured? . are you watching the same keeper as me, take a look at the highlights from last night, I was there and saw how bad he was, I was also at Brentford where he performed like a Sunday league keeper. I think we have got the stage where peacock farrel should be looked at, and how cooper is keeping shuanessey out of the team I have no idea

It's just one of the problems playing youngsters - they make mistakes and poor decisions at crucial times. We were not doing badly until the sending off but coming back from two goals down against a team like Wolves is a big ask. I still think TC is far too cavalier with his team selection with the squad we have. You need a decent defender just in front of the back four; maybe just one of the kids as another mid fielder and then experience. I'm afraid it's like Monk says- against what look like better teams you stay in the game, wear them down a bit that go for in the final quarter. We had just about lost the game in the first half hour. In that game we should have been trying to frustrate, hang in then try to turn the screw. Not hindsight just what I thought we would do. We gave them too much space. Hope TC is learning - not much sign of it yet.

We literally said 2 mins before viera got his red that he was going to et sent off, he got lucky with a tackle from behind seconds before . what he needed was either tc to take him off as he must've also noticed it. or one of the senior experienced players to get him to calm down tell him we were on top and guide him. we don't have any leaders like that unfortunately!

Agree4 Disagree0

23 Nov 2017 12:08:54
Overall I think, until the sending off, we were holding our own. Against a table topping team who many think will still be there come May. I just hope that we don't have a knee jerk reaction and make wholesale changes. Not just to personnel but to systems as well. We have shown we can do it. We have shown that we have capable players. It's now a mental thing that needs sorting by TC and his team. A large part of the mental thing is confidence and 2 or 3 wins on the trot will encourage the team to push on. Certainly there are a couple (some would say 4) of positions that need strengthening. I can only assume that the scouting team have identified targets and are ready to swoop come January. If they decide that the summer is the time then so be it. We are not a relegation team? so if we are playing to a long term strategy then let's hold our nerve, spend wisely and build slowly. If this is the case a mid table finish this year is a small price to pay for a good crack next year with a team strong enough to stay in the Prem. This is Leeds, when has it been simple?

I posted last night about how dallas, ekuban, and saiz should be the front 3, and shaugnessy should start holding midfield. In heindsight, I have decided to quit my job, spend a little more time on football manager, and when TC gets sacked hand in a CV. Wolves will go up IMO, they've done their business, and they may add another striker in January to confirm that. Leeds, well where do i start, i'm the most positive leeds fan I know, and last night it showed that our investigations and research in preseason into new developing players was not the best. Imagine if we didn't have samu, I think its fair to say orta, and TC would be gone. Alioski starting to come good is a bonus. Said it for a week or two now, bring back antonsson, and maybe even play him with cibicki, would be hilarious to see these two rip it up, nobody could have called that. Jokes aside, bring in a new keeper, release lonergan, and show wiedewald how to command his box. Teams in our position should have players fighting for first team places, at the minute players are fighting for a place on the bench. Bring in Shaugnessy, at least if he has a mare we can say its because he's only young.
