Looking at Blackstock's goal ratio he's no better than Hunt or Varney - Smith and McCormack should be given an extended run up front as first choice strikers, Hunt and Varney in reserve on the bench.

Dont waste wages on another striker with a poor goal ratio - we need a winger with pace and an end product. That said the starting 11 and the formation against Birmingham looked good - same again against Huddersfield.

Stop moaning. there's players who just need a fresh start to hit form its happened loads of timrs why don't u just give him a chance and stop complaining

Agree0 Disagree0

Original poster, please can you clarify where a winger will fit in, in a diamond formation or the 3-5-2?

As we don't even have 1 winger, to employ in any fashion we would need to sign 2 so any formation is balanced.

Working with the formations he is, BMD has enough cover.

Agreed that Blackstock may not be the answer, but this is a short term loan and if he scores 4 in 4 1-0 wins I will be happy.

Agree0 Disagree0

The winger would fit into games where we have to change the 3, 5, 2 formation if its not working out in any given match.

The main point I was making was to give Smith and McCormack partnership an extended run under the 3, 5, 2 formation.

Blackstock and zaliukas look like nearly done deals which I think are great signings! People will moan about them not being 21 and 2 of European best players but it seems to me we have both the best and the most hard to please fans in the world!

I like Blackstock but I'm more happy with the zaliukas signing should it happen! I think it's a signal that we will now play 3 CBs in a 3-5-2 like Sunday meaning we need another CB as cover! Hope I'm right as we were excellent Sunday and the formation suited us!

As for Blackstock, good in the air for his size, decent on the ground and as I'm from Nottingham my family and maths are all florist fans and they all say he is not the striker they should be getting gone so our gain their loss!

Looking forward to sat!

I don't know know much about this zaliukas but sounds promising of what I have managed to read and see. I thought the back line was terrific though against Birmingham but my only problem was Tom lees having byram free frequently down the right hand side but choosing to hoof it majority of the time. Not slating him because he was defensively very good but couldn't see why he didn't keep I on the floor more often. Then again I only watched on tv so obviously missed bits in camera, was this the case?

Agree0 Disagree0

Yea that's a fair point mate - it did seem that a few times we were quite intent on the same old hoof ball but then again with a 6ft 6" striker the best weapon was his height.

Small steps though as we did cut down a hell of a lot on the long ball and that meant Murphy and mowatt looked brilliant like we know they can be.

Having said all that it was my daughters birthday so like you, I only saw it on tv! Positives to take for sure though mate!

QPR have signed Onyewu, so are probably out of the running for Zaliukas (albeit he may have already rejected them).

If we are going to implement the 3-5-2 we need another CB. So let's hope we pull this off.

With that formation, we will not need the wingers that everyone ois on about. warnock on the left with white as cover, Byram on the right with Peltier as cover.

The Blackstock deal I am not sure about, but what I will say is, if he comes in and scores a couple, the rest will have to fix up to keep their spots or get back their sports. It will only be good for the club. More competition can only be good for the club.

Hunt is working harder as shown in the dev game so I think we will be ok.

I find BMD comment on the OS with regard Blackstock slightly worrying when he says " he is a good lad in the dressing room"!?! Surely a comment with regard to his performance on the pitch and what he brings to the team might be more fitting!?! Thoughts.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

None, sorry.

23 Oct 2013 13:42:35
Personally don't find it worrying at all.
You need personalities and leaders in the dressing room as well as on the pitch.

Prime example would be vinnie jones when he was here.
Motivational on and off the park, and a real presence within the squad. You need people who will fire others up.

Just my view.

Agree with original post. Noel hunts a good lad great in the dressing room problem is he's sh*te on the pitch.IMO he played in his best position on Sunday - sat in the stand its just a pity we're paying his wages!

23 Oct 2013 19:40:33
Surely we need players that perform on and off the pitch, dressing room comment is another poor example of how BMD articulates things! Maybe that's why he needs someone who can motivate the players in the dressing room.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hunt ain't sh*te on the pitch at all, just hasn't got going at Leeds yet. you're probably the same clown who was pulling Smith and Murphy down not long ago. Clueless

No I haven't been pulling smith and Murphy apart they are young promising and learning theirtrade. Hunt however is at best a journeyman but more honestly he's the managers mate who is taking a big wage out of my club!

Your club? Who are you?
Anyone who has ever played or coached or managed at a half decent level knows that squad players are as much a part of the team whether they play or not!

Spirit is generated by characters. There's always quiet ones in any team. If you had 11 loners you would not have a team! This applies to business, sport and life.

Hunt will come good I believe. Reading fans were disappointed to see him go because of what he brought to the team

23 Oct 2013 21:34:21
I am Leeds! A good spirit must have been generated on Sunday and a 4 nil win will see a good spirit going into Saturdays game! Most people I have spoken to were in agreement that hunt had his best game for our club on Sunday so maybe the question should be who are you?

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Oct 2013 22:03:16
Had his best game on Sunday? Utterly crass and pointless remark. If you're Leeds, then support the entire team. Every player has bad spells. Giving out cr4p to individual ayers doesn't help them hit form.

Hunt is a grafter, as are the likes of Varney and brown, and they all give 100% every time they play. We aren't ridsdale's Leeds any more thank jebus, but we will come back, and I trust Bmd's judgement.

Slating players helps no one.
And I am the name at the bottom of the post.
I don't see yours!

Strange first name Mr white are you German? I go to games and cheer every Leeds player but I don't consider giving 100% a feature I consider that the minimum any player lucky enough to play fpr my club should give!

Easy guys! We are all passionate about OUR club and OUR team otherwise we would not be at the games or on this site! Not everyone can get to every game but we still follow, support and keep the faith! We are all entitled to our oppinion and whilst Mr Hunt has not exactly given a great performance he is one of ours and provides BMD with options as well as someone to have Sunday lunch with! Let's just look toward the next game and onwards and upwards.

Im sure most winning teams have good spirit! i'm still enjoying looking back at Sundays game too much to start looking forward. I've been walking into lampposts all week.dont know if its just me but all the players seemed happier with the new formation right from the off this obviously grew as the goals began to flow!

Agree0 Disagree0

I must say. The main post is saying he's worried. Well I need to say its good to have personalities because without personalities your a zombie and if your a zombie your slow. Zombies are slow. To me Leeds looked sharp Sunday. Sound like we do have personalities and to me one more will just boost moral so stop moaning.

Looks like we are getting Blackstock and Zaliukas, and with the new formation of 3-5-2 (with wing backs) I may have to start my Fifa14 save game again.

Just bad luck eh, am sitting pretty top of the league at the end of November.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I got promoted in my second season and bought Sanchez from barca Hugo from spurs and t silva from psg from tack over money

To 2nd poster I bet your playing on ameater.

Is that a proper take over or one bought with EA points?

Agree0 Disagree0

Same I'm waiting to see what happens before I relaunch my new save! Good thing is if I wait long enough I won't have to try sell hall! I used my takeover money though I takes ages just playing career to level up enough for the next one.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well my signings are Afobe, Januzaj and Obertan. I don't think I will be able to get Januzaj again if I re-start, but I am interested in playing the new formation. Will wait and see how things go.

Plust its so much effort trying to sell players, Pugh is still hanging around

Not a computer whizz
When I attempt to stream live games I get ads popping up all over my screen and the football action stops every minute or so. Makes it impossible to watch. Does anyone know how to stop either of these things happening? {Ed001's Note - try adblocker.}

I know it's not everyone, but the negativity surrounding the linked loan signings is ridiculous (I can only assume they are fans of other clubs doing it for a good wind up).

Not so long ago we would have struggled to sign a non-league player, now we are looking at signing two experienced players, 1 of whom is a regular international (albeit Lithuania, but an international nevertheless), and the other who although isn't a machine in front of goal will greatly increase the depth of our much depleted squad, I actually think it is an improvement on what we already have as well in both cases, and is a positive step forward.give them a chance!

Great post fella! Agree entirely.
As winter rolls in, we are bound to get injuries and suspensions, and these would add both depth and experience to the team.

I agree with you there you just can't please some fans no matter what you do.

To the people who are slatting the potential signing of Blackstock I say this - who do you think we can sign on a loan basis in October? - for me as a Leeds fan anyone who puts on the white shirt and plays for Leeds is worthy of being supported untill proven to be unworthy - most fans end their posts with - IN BMD WE TRUST - then moan about his potential signings - I just don't get it

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Dexter Blackstock will prove to be a very, very good signing - I have seen the future!

Nouha dicko?

Agree0 Disagree0

By far the biggest problem to date this season (apart from the Birmingham game) has been scoring goals. So it stands to reason that we should sign a free-scoring striker. Dexter Blackstock is a good professional and has lots of Championship experience but he could never be described as free-scoring. He's a good player but not what we need just now. We need a 20 goal a season man!
Of course, if we just sign him for a month initially, see how he performs, then make a longer term decision, then that makes perfect sense (but don't expect an avalanche of goals!).

Agree0 Disagree0

'it stands to reason that we should sign a free-scoring striker. Dexter Blackstock is a good professional and has lots of Championship experience but he could never be described as free-scoring' The problem is that teams don't tend to let free scoring strikers go out on loan

Agree0 Disagree0

OP here - to the 4th poster I repeat, who are we going to get on loan in october, a 20 goal striker be realistic - as you said, Blackstock is a good player and anyone that can give us more depth in positions we are obviously lacking has to be good

Agree0 Disagree0

Like I said before I reckon McCormack will get 16-20 goals this season. Didn't rate matt smith as an impact sub but he looked quality up with McCormack from the start when settling into the game. Think blackstock will be a decent signing none the less but give smith a chance he could have some untapped hidden potential in there and shock a lot of people.
