I don't think MB will drop BPF but I think it should happen and give Blackman a chance. MB obviously wants GK to start the play out from the back and not kick it long and maybe he feels Blackman unable to do this as well as PF?
On the KP debate, I have said all pre season we need that tough defensive MF player, the batty / kante type.
To be fair I think KP has played well for most of our games and don't think we have anyone else in the squad now to play that role ( not sure if Dallas cud) but worth a try.
Not seen much of Shackleton, he looks fast, could he play there? Maybe should have not sold vieira.
Now onto alioski, I don't rate him, works hard but has very little end product, constantly offside, can't go past players or cross. Again as squad thin, not many options, think MB should have given Clarke a few last 20 mins over last 3 games to see what he can do, his confidence is high.
When Pablo back, him and Harrison on each wing and rest alioski.

received a phone call from a gorgeous ex-girlfriend this morning who called 'out-of-the-blue' to see if I was still around.
We lost track of time, chatting about the wild, romantic times we used to enjoy together.
I couldn't believe it when she asked if I'd be interested in meeting up and rekindling a little of that "old magic".
"Wow! " I was flabbergasted.
"I don't know if I could keep pace with you now", I said, "I'm a bit older and a bit greyer and balder than when you last saw me. Plus I don't really have the energy I used to have. "
She just giggled and said she was sure I would "rise to the challenge".
"Yeah. " I said. "Just so long as you don't mind a waistline that's a few inches wider these days! Not to mention my total lack of muscle tone. everything is sagging, my teeth are a bit yellowed and I am developing jowls like a Great Dane! "
She laughed and told me to stop being so silly.
She teased me saying that tubby, gray haired, older men were cute, and she was sure I would still be a great lover.
Anyway, she giggled and said, "I've put on a few pounds myself! "

It's Sunday Funday everyone, Leeds lose but we're still on top, and Anthony Joshua still holds the titles and is undefeated. So happy weekend all round for me.
I would like to carry on the KP discussion with you guys, discussion, not argument. I will attack this from a different angle and say why he is slow and what makes him different to others that play the same holding role.
Others who have played his role successfully, like David Batty, Chelski players like Makele and Kante. These players have one thing in common, they're small, and have little weight on them, but have a lot of aggression.
Kalvin Phillips, on the other hand, seems like he has hit the gym and is going for a more stocky look. Since he now carries more weight, he has became stronger. However, he isn't as pacy as he should be.
So to me, if I was him, or the clubs dietitian I would be speaking to KP to shed a few pounds and this will improve your overall game, as you will be able to cover more ground quicker.
Bermo, BIGE, I hope this adds to the discussion, and as you guys know I am a big KP fan, but I agree that he lacks pace. This is how I would combat it.

Think he has been trying to up his stamina levels because he has always struggled to play 3 games a week but agree with you about his pace, needs to get a bit leaner, up to coaches to work on it and his diet. Maybe have a red bull before each game.

i agree and good point he can be leaner but also just don't think pace is his game.
I do feel sorry for him with people like me getting on his back as he is knew to the role, I don't think he has a natural ability to sniff out danger like batty kante etc. also think he is not a great tackler, but this is not his game, also think batty can't lace KP's boots when it comes to passing. I honestly think he is in top ten passers in the game and last year further up feild played well.
i know it is different world but i use to play right wing and was quick, i'm not old and fat and slow so play in goal. Occassionaly i have to play on pitch i foul everyone because i'm too slow and i see this with KP. I don't think he is the best player but i also think he is being used very badly by MB, which spanish pointed out is not KP's fault.
funny you mention Strachan i went in the dessing room to meet all the players in 90 before a wimbledon game, steve hodge showed me around, i had photo taken with lukic and met srachan who had a chat with me and batty. Strachan was eating a bannan as we were speaking about 30 minutes before kick off. I was only six and remember feeling a bit sorry for him that they didn't have any choclate or something better for him to eat, like it was pack lunch at school.

Del Boy there’s one big difference between batty kante etc. they are proper premier league players whereas KP is not.

I think Dallas is a good shout, if KP fails. I wasn't a great fan of Milner as any sort of attacker, especially a winger but since moving to the back he has been described as the best pound for pound defender and I agree. He does not hve the quick brain or feet of Georgie Best but he does have heart and lungs of Maldini and I think the same could be said of Dallas, if tried. He will give a 100%, put a tackle in and get around the pitch. Come on MB see it, give him a go.

Moving away from one of the talking points yesterday, KP to two of the others, the goalie and Alioski.
Gk, imagine we got Blackman to play him, looked good in the last under 23s, is now the time to bring him in and have a look?
Alioski, I've always liked Alioski, a much better version of Sacko, but still with frustrations. Think he might just need somone who we can share the workload with him.

BPF is such a hard one, he has got better, commanded area very well and made some fgood saves, however i think he has let in four maybe five goals that most will feel he should of stopped. almost opposite of slivestri who could shot stop bt not control area. i like blackamn and he was great against us last year, personally think it is harsh on BPF but blackman needs a run in the team now
as for alioski, i can see why he frustatrates but personally, talk of dropping one of our most effective and dangerous players is bit harsh. for his position his goal and assist return is probably amonsgt top in league think many would kill for him, that said he can annoy as wekll.

I think if Blackman had been in yesterday we would of got a draw at least, BPF never really fills me with confidence, as for KP I don't really see what he brings, he works hard that's it, and I like Alioski, drifts out of the game sometimes but gives it his all and can create a spark of magic at times.

i agree kray BPF is opposite of SLivsitri who filled me with confidence shot stopping but not commanding area where as BFP is great at getting crosses and command of area (really impresed against borough and millwall) but doesn't fill me with confidnece at shot stopping, if only we could have best of both. time for blackman for me, although i think this is a little harsh on BPF and i'm certainly not writting him off just think a change is needed for a couple of games see how it goes.

i think it is confidence and form, BPF can make them saves he wouldn't be a pro keeper if he couldn't but form is letting him down, bit like de gea recently who let in 14 shots of 16 on target and let in some howlers, however de gea last few games has looked best keeper in world again. BPF should sit out and get hungry for place back and get bit of form back. Good thing is a don't think he is a bad keeper just having a bad time with some easer shots. coming from me who let in 6 against clapham yesterday!

Think, our 2 young keepers are on a level par. bpf has made 6/ 7 goal stopping saves, he can pass with both feet and growing in stature. blackman could come in and do a great job, then he'd get slated for a bad game and a couple of errors.
Don't think there's a team in this league with 2 young talented keepers as good.
Get behind these 2 lads.
Support em. there's going to be good and bad for sure.

I like kalvin cause he plays a position that goes well under the radar, like Batty, but not in the same level of course. He tracks back, collects the ball deep, plays simple balls, and wins the balls. He's not the kind of player that's going to go on a run and beat 3-4 people and score. Baring in mind the kids 22 and only had 3 full seasons, he is by no means the finished article. I apologise for being rash bermo, but I think you should judge what the kid does at by the end of the season.

and thanls del I agree with a lot of what you say. his positional sense (which I think is bad) will get better with experience. his rash tackles have already improved. and he is a great passer of the ball. for me his is too slow which makes him easy to pass or out of positiion. as for winning the ball back, in every game this season he has commited more fouls than won the ball. that is a stat and very worrying one to me, plus most of his fouls are because he is slow he has to pull player back. so for me he will never cut it but time will tell. again the abuse I have got though on here is bit strong. this is a banter or debate site unless you banter or debate KP it would seem?

Bermondsey, just because Phillip has a bad game, doesn’t prove you right, he had a bad game, so did others. If you get pulled, it’s going to draw attention to your performance and you don’t get a chance to improve your performance either.
If you read the ratings report in, through it all together, it also said he is having a good season!
When you talk about BPF, you talk with understanding how goalie errors look bad, it works in a similar way with KPs position, if those around you are having a mare, the pressure it puts on that position is much greater and it’s your mistakes that stand out.
Question for you? Without buying a new player, because we can’t, if you take him out of the team, how would you set the team up? Would you swap him for somone else or would you change the formation.

good point spanish and i repesct your views and how you post them, all i am saying is he has been pulled twice and picked to bits twice as i predicted in game week one and got slated for.
I am understanding with most players. alostki can be great and frustrating, BFP is good young keeper and grown so much in stature yet had a mare today. Beradi is not the most gifted and is too small for CB and yet was motm against brorugh which is hard game
for me KP is a great passer maybe best in the squad. I just think he is too slow and not mobile enough which is such an important trate for his position and will cost him/ us and get him found out. i think he gives away too many fouls due to being run past and doesn't offer enough cover for role, this is a long term ongoing problem that can not be coached in my opinion. so while others have good and bad aspects, KP good aspects (passing) will never outweight his flaw (pace and molibity and abailtiy to tackle and not foul)
how would i set up the team. tough one, i would of brought in a player for KP as I saw left back and KP two main weaknesses of team from last year (with CB) however with this in mind how would i set up? either forshaw for KP which i think will happen in time, dallas for KP in the middle not as wing back, maybe even beradi in KP position as what we lose in passing quality we will make up for in mobility and tackling abaility?
i would also consider a change to wing backs with two up front which i think would favour roberts as he may be better with someone up with him?
maybe someone from youth team, at the end of the day i just would not pick phillips as he lacks in too many important areas not to be a liability in my opinion.

What i find laughable is every post you put on has a rant about KP. Lot of players wanted slating yesterday. You believe KP offers nothing, fair enough. I believe he does a good job breaking up play. Have always said he will have bad games because his recovery rate is poor. The fact he has started every game, including cup, then goes missing sort of proves my point. that's something that needs working on. Crap player is a matter of opinion. His job is to break up their midfield play, get about the pitch and disrupt their rhythm. He has done a lot of fouls but only has one yellow, one less than Saiz. He is a defensive midfielder wit two assists, one more than Saiz. I am not saying he is the best player we have but as i have said overall his stats are not the worst with an average of 7. We can all quote this stat or that stat or what our friends are saying but its an opinion at the end of the day. You have yours, its well noted. I have mine. If this time next year he is playing for Donny i may agree with you. At the moment he is doing a job for LUFC.

Looked at a couple of rating sites and KP deservedly got a four rating for the time he was on the pitch. But a lot gave Ayling Douglas 5 for the time they wee on which was a lot longer than KP. Would have thought they would be a lot higher. In fact on some sites 6 was the highest rating which puts it into perspective, bad day all round.

To be fair your criticism is as much against Bielsa than KP. Bielsa looked at the squad, thought, thinks, Phillips could play that role and chose the formation and player. I think that’s why he said what he did yesterday. He didn’t have Forshaw available pre season, so that probably influenced his thinking as well.
It will be interesting how Bielsa responds this time, with Dallas, Shackleton, Forshaw back, he has a few more options to play around with.
Not sure there is anyone in the under 23s who could do the job, he tried Shaunessy in front of the defence in the last game and it wasn’t pretty.
I thought the interesting part of the sub yesterday was that he took Phillips off and didn’t just ask him to drop back into three centrebacks and adjust around him. So we might see some experimentation this week and a new plan for weds on Friday!

Berms, when I read through yesterday's posts, it did feel to me like you were the kid in the playground who had been singled out for a free for all persecuting by a baying mob of classmates, but at the end of the day, I wouldn't let it get to you as much as it appears to. If we are going to talk about posting laughable opinions, I don't rate KP and I would sell him just for his choice of hairstyle. He offends my eyes and doesn't play at a level where we couldn't get a better player who doesn't turn up looking like a court jester. I know that the comparison with Batty was qualified by the observation that he isn't as good, but I cannot see any comparison at all. Batty was under rated, this lad is just pants. I could play better if I had had a leg amputated and 15 double JDs. There, it's out there, I think he's pants and I know that my judgement is partly an irrational inability to not be annoyed just by looking at him ie my opinion is laughable, but I am indifferent to who says it, it is a banter site. If we go up we need consistency, kp does not have it, I think alioski is not worth a starting role in a team chasing promotion, he blows hot and cold. All my opinions but I trust bielsa to make the important decisions. We have started well and injurys have cost us, but Joys of a small squad. Loving the Sunday morning debate.

I did not include Swansea as he was taken off early, maybe i should have. But you have not addressed the fact he averages a rating of 7 which does not make him the worst. As i said stats are stats and opinions are opinions and you value your own greatly but so do i. At the end of the season i may be proved wrong, then again so may you. The fact is the two games when KP was took off we dropped 4 points, maybe coincidence who knows. We did not play any better with him off the pitch. ok BIGE maybe i misudnerstood the laughable post from you which did cause offence and I did take personally. I agree about his position, i think he is like pirlo or a number ten, great quality on the ball and can hurt teams with a pass. I would in fact rest saiz at times and play KP there. I think he doesn't know defensive mid well enough, which ain't his fault he is new to it but still costs points (like BPF yesterday) I also think he is poor in the tackle and gives away too many fouls again not his fault but i would prefer him further up the ptich. that said I properly respect him like beradi for playing out of position and giving all for shirt.

Nothing personal BW. As i said i used to enjoy your posts but you have been a little intense lately. KP is no world beater yet but he is young with a bit to learn yet playing in an unaccustomed role doing the best he can. When the team are playing well he contributes. He can start slow some games but as i said earlier he has always had a poor recovery rate between games, not sure why. Think he needs resting now and then once another player gets the hang of his role. Its not an easy position to play.
