One last, last point. We all have our own opinions but I'm absolutely gobsmacked some folk seem to think Monk is not up to the job and allude to him going. Amazing when you consider the job he has done after coming on board so late in pre season. Then again we are Leeds fans and nothing surprises me.

One last last last point. If Ipswich do Wednesday and then Fulham do the same and we get six from last couple of games will Monk still be.

Monk will stay regardless. If we stay in this league oh well. Cellino made the statement about play offs at the start of the season as a long shot, I think we were 150/1 to make play offs, so he knew it was unlikely. For monk to have an opportunity to repay him that 2 games from the end of the season, I personally would be thrilled.

Monks done an excellent job in ensuring that everything that has been wrong with us defensively has been restructured, and has got us playing football. Another 12 months and if the situation remains the same I might say to myself that he's fallen short again at the last hurdle, but I won't write him off until he fails to meet his own realistic ambitions for the club. He's young, has good intentions, and respect for the club and the fans, so we should repay this

Think he has done wonders with the squad Cork, I believe had we have really have wanted to progress then Jan would have been the time, yet again we sign a player who barely gets any game time . I thought Jan was a time when you looked two cover positions and add that extra bit .

I can see Monk staying, getting some decent signings in and a proper pre season and then getting us automatic promotion next season.

One more point. Let's not forget the excellent players Monk brought in after years of dross under other managers. Green. Pontus. Bartley. Ayling. Hernandez, at times and imo O'Kane who has been criminally under used, although I've heard can't shake off his injury.

Not to mention bringing in Viera and making Wood a goal machine. I said it before. Keep hold of Monk and bring in a couple and don't lose what we have and next season we'll do a Brighton. This year still ain't over though!

In fairness wood was always a goal machine and would have had similar return the season before had he not been injured

I made a point that players not formations win games. One geezer disagrees. Just to clarify but can anyone tell me a team that has been successful and their formation had been credited with winning? A formation is chosen to fit the players that you have as a coach.

That is what Monk has done after starting off season with two up front. He found a way of playing that gave the best chance of winning and it worked very well. We may miss out on the play offs but it is nothing to do with the formation or that we've been found out but more to do with a loss of form and missing a couple of key January signings who would of made the difference.

Let's not forget Monk was not backed in the window and basically accepted second best when owner would not put up the funds for the players he wanted. It's easy to say he can't change a game when needed but how can he when the bench attack wise is week.

Twenty minutes to go and who can he bring on to do this? Doukara? Antonsson? Roofe? Enough said. We don't have the firepower or any kind of guile from the bench to make a difference. It's been a great season imo and maybe it's not over yet? !

I don't get the not backed in January thing pedraza valued at around 8 million and barrow on 20,000 a week

Don't think they were his first choices Wex. Seemed at the time more like last minute panicking. But could be wrong. I have been before.

Pedraza - yes definitely a move Monk wanted. Barrow - no, that was last minute desperation. i'm fairly sure if Monk was backed he would also have brought in another CB and a CF.

So cork you're telling me that at times when we have been battered in games, and last face it we have at times been battered, dropping a couple of players back to support midfield, namely the wingers we all cried out for a season of so ago, and actually using them as wingers for counter attacks, would not have made a difference?

Just a discussion point and in no way meant to be seen as player or manager bashing. Monk has done very well in his first year and seems to have fallen short when it seemed top six was a certainty. He also did well for a time with Swansea. I wonder if he is a one time wonder? He seems to be trying to re establish himself by using the players that did it for him once before. That has been good but there is a major down side.

He signed Bartley on loan - good move. Hernandez on short term contract - not so good and made worse by persisting with him in spite of his lack of form. Barrow - nightmare signing. Wood has done well in front of goal probably helped by Beatie. Alfonso - nothing to write home about.

Sacko - nothing to write home about. O'Kane might be good but doesn't play him. Phillips is nothing to write home about but keeps his place in spite of poor form. Jansson was everybody's favourite but recently there is something not quite right there as well missing games with mysterious illnesses just seems a bit odd and having to be put in his place by Monk adds to the uncertainty.

All in all Monk has been ok/ good but his decision making and apparent favouritism might be what cost him at Swansea and maybe here as the season has progressed.

Monk also brought in ayling and green don't forget. ROofe and bridcutt also monk signings on permanent deals. For me 5/10 signings have paid off for this season alone, these being green, ayling, barts, Jansson, and Ped.

But personal preference I suppose. From what I've seen green player of the year, and I hope we sign a new keeper next season and he becomes a part of coaching staff in the near future, and old experienced head and great to have for the likes of peacock-Farrell.

All in all some excellent business from the manager if you ask me. Fortunately sacko is a loan, Hernandez only has a year left and roofe is only 23, we shouldn't base players however on their first season. Prime example, Chris wood, next year roofe could be instrumental for us.

It's his first year in the league, if next year he chipped in with 12 goals and 10 assists would you be happy? Of course, you'd say great signing just needs time. Wishful thinking but it's better to dream lads

Just like to make a point of how many goals Brentford are scoring these days. They've got some real talent in Canos, Jota, Vibe etc. Think if we're still in this league next season, they'll be Ines to watch out for.

As much as the premier league is a dream, I love the championship as so many teams have good players and managers and finally a lot of money being invested. Just hope we can do the same to finally get ourselves out of it! A lot of the teams in the play offs play a similar style to us, Huddersfield and Fulham both play a 4-2-3-1 like us with 2 holding midfielders.

Thing with their formations, as I know many have said, is that the 5 in midfield attack and defend as a unit, which makes them so strong. Players like quaner, aluko, ayite, cairney, forestieri, Canos, Naismith, Pritchard, Jota, are all better than the talent that we have in these areas IMO. I think Gary will spot this over the summer and look to build and create a heavy emphasis on this in order to support our talisman

good post Samo - we have been very slow to break and get players up front in support this season far too often. in the Wolves game we were so pedestrian by the time we reached the half way line the whole team were back defending. This is where we need to improve next season massively as on the rare occasions that we break quickly we are much more dangerous.

Ok, so everyone is entitled to their opinion but I personally I think we should rally and be positive. We shouldn't be writing off a team and manager who haven't even finished the current season.

Let's get behind the boys and see it through. I have enjoyed this season and that's the first time I said that in years. No it hasn't always been rosey, no we haven't always had a plan 'B' and yes I have lost a few quid 🙄. But we are Leeds and nothing is ever straight forward.

At least we have gone into games believing we can get a result and competed (most games) , in previous seasons it has just been hoping how much we can limit the damage. Please banter and discuss, but at least give the team a chance to get stuck in and get a couple of results before you hang them out to dry! Let's leave the speculation and negatives vibes till after we see what happens. Positive till the end. Enjoy the rest of the season. Come on Leeds 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼.

Finally someone else thinking a little more positively about proceedings😂 we can still finish in the play-odds and why shouldn't we? Miracles happen. Think of all the great things that have happened to this club in the last 12 months, and tell me it's not been a good year and one to advance upon regardless of league position.

Change of ownership
Sale of bamba
Signing monk, beats and pep
Intent with new players
Development of youth
Highest points tally in years

Highest league position in years (3rd at one point) Our main striker being top scorer Player of the month and team of the season awards
All creditable achievements which for me suggest that we're heading in the right direction. It's not over so don't rule us out. MOT.

Agreed lads. Over the disappointment of the weekend but a lot still to be playing for. I think for most of us it's the fact we have dropped to 7th but we are still in the mix with 2 games left and all to play for. We can still do it

I hear what you are saying. I still do believe - in all things Leeds but at the same time I am a realist/practicalist. I know the odds are 44 mil to one but I still buy a lottery ticket all the same. I know that the odds of other teams having aberations is about the same but I live in hope and light a candle. I just don't hold my breath.
