Like others I was sick as parrot when we did not make top 6.Now think maybe it was the great escape. Had we been promoted Monk would have stayed and not lasted till Christmas. Now full of optimism and every chance of great season with better prospect for prem. next season.

It's certainly not every cloud but no question that one its lining was pure silver.

Monk was never going to stay, thought he was bigger than the club.

24 Aug 2017 21:23:29
Yer bang right there BIGE, and I thought it the first time he was interviewed by Eddie gray, and showed him no respect at all.

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Aug 2017 02:12:13
Agree whitsee.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2017 09:22:47
Radz wouldn't have bought the club if we got promoted either, so most of what has happened since would not have come to pass.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2017 18:53:09
With the creative foreign players we have in the team I can envisage a foreign CF (Spanish/Italian) being unearthed by Orta. Again, we discuss A, B, C. He signs X, Y, Z.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

24 Aug 2017 18:16:36
Bit off topic, but I've been thinking again. Watching the way we play, and particularly how Pontus plays, would it suit us to play the guy as sweeper. The guys quick, good passer and dribbler, just an all round good footballer. Anyways I would like to hear your thoughts on this.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

24 Aug 2017 18:36:39
Sweeper a bit unfashionable these days. Don't know why?

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2017 18:58:14
does anybody play sweepers anymore? i think they died out around 1987.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2017 19:20:46
Sergio Ramos plays there sometimes and so did Xabi Alonso, I think it would be perfect for him.

Agree1 Disagree1

24 Aug 2017 19:37:19
A sweeper plays a behind the centre backs. Think u guys are talking about an anchor man.

Agree1 Disagree1

24 Aug 2017 19:53:01
A lot of Managers want their keepers to play the role of fashionable sweepers nowadays. MOT

Agree2 Disagree0

24 Aug 2017 21:44:23
Sweeper keeper the term and that's what TC sees in the German. Tho can be caught out being to far off line at times. Neuer the perfect example off a sweeper keeper.

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Aug 2017 09:24:09
we haven't got enough centre backs to be using one as an anchor man!

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2017 18:13:59
It's not just Dallas that seems to be loving life with TC, while Dallas has improved so has Roofe, Cooper, O'Kane, and Vierra, with Cooper being the biggest transformation out of all of them, its testament to how the TC and the club are treating the players, I am so impressed with it all! MOT

Believable3 Unbelievable1

24 Aug 2017 20:26:09
Reason is because under Monk we waited for opportunities to arise by playing patiently and passively. This benefitted Wood. TC style more taking it to opposition. He is getting most out of players. We finally have the personnel to play more aggressively.

Agree3 Disagree0

25 Aug 2017 01:17:56
For me keeping Dallas is a no brained and more important than Wood. He has really shone this yeR, created and scored good goals. He admitted that he has benefited from a real pre season and it shows! He is an important team and squad player and we have used him a lot in games- needand want him!

Agree2 Disagree0

25 Aug 2017 16:00:39
In Monks defense he didn't have the same caliber of players to choose from. Then again he effed off before he had that opportunity. As for Dallas. Good squad player but i'm not sure why folk saying he's had a great start to season. Great header last week but hasn't started a game yet, although that can change fairly quick. The squad is looking 8/10 championship strong to me even with Wood gone. Shane Long or someone of that ilk and we are back boys. MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2017 16:07:21
Mikewoody how can you say Vierra has improved? he's barely played!

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2017 17:05:45
Need to put this one to bed. And tell Norwich that Dallas is not for sale letting him go would be a mistake IMO so let's be giving him a new contract think he deserves it been one of our better performers so far. he's a keep IMO. ALAW. MOT

Believable5 Unbelievable1

24 Aug 2017 17:40:43
Be nice if club would come out and say we not selling and offer him a new deal if they want to keep him. All this speculation unsettling to the player. Like him as a player, but if he is to be sold don't stretch it out.

Agree2 Disagree1

24 Aug 2017 19:38:23
Linked with Oliveira so a part exchange deal could happen.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2017 20:26:57
I want us to keep Dallas. Keep going on about it but that header.

Agree3 Disagree0

24 Aug 2017 21:27:10
We got money sitting in the bank, we don't need to cash in on Dallas even if we lose him for nothing next season. More important we utilize this squad to give us the best chance this season. Wood was different he had his head turned and wanted to go. Unless Dallas states he wants to leave then we should hang on to him.

Agree2 Disagree0

25 Aug 2017 09:47:22
Question is less for Leeds than it is Dallas. I'd hope he's offered a two-year deal but if we're offering no deal or he doesn't like what has been offered, it could be a sign he wants the security of a longer contract elsewhere. Let's be honest, he's certainly been putting himself in the shop window lately.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2017 16:11:18
I have had said for sometime that Wood is an average Championship striker. He is a forward who can score goals not an out an out goal scorer. He had a freak season last year and I don't think he will repeat it certainly not at premiership level. 10- 15 at the best. Although he scored a bucket full of goals I think in some ways he was a hindrance. I saw just about all the games last season and in the majority he didn't play well which meant others couldn't feed off him and after a while they stopped trying. Running past him to be 'played in' was usually a waste of time. He vindicated himself by scoring goals but it was usually the one thing he did. Others didn't usually chip because nothing much was been created. Hence the usual 1-0; 0-0;0-1, or 1-1 score lines. There were exceptions but not many. Trying to get balls into him was very difficult as hewas often isolated and because too much attention was given to this nothing much else was happening. It may be a blessing he has gone particularly with the transfer fee. I think AR is doing an excellent job. He seems to have a plan and he and his team are working at it. Bringing in and developing youth is a sign that he is not only looking at the present but at the longer term. It may all come to nothing in the end but even if it does nobody can say he didn't give it a good go. Personally I wouldn't bet against him.

Believable7 Unbelievable1

24 Aug 2017 16:26:04
Completely agree with most of that. I'd point out Wood was pretty useful defending at corners but, as a centre-forward bringing others into the game, pretty rubbish. Dude can't link plays.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2017 16:27:21
Totally agree Hess, T C and Radz do seem to be giving decent long term contracts or letting players go and Wood for the price was good business . It really would not shock me if we didn't see a couple of strikers signed before transfer window closes .

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Aug 2017 17:24:44
Totally agree, was saying same thing last season but a lot of people were blinded by the goals, which were welcome. Look at us now everyone getting in the box. Dallas looks like a different player.

Agree2 Disagree0

24 Aug 2017 17:43:36
I got tired of seeing him waste Pablo Hernandez through balls tbh.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Aug 2017 18:43:01
With the players we now have and the style that suits them we need a more fluid, gifted forward who can pick up balls with a good first touch. Not so much the old English style of get to the bye-line and throw in a cross. A nimble forward with a quick brain and two good feet would feed well off Saiz Hernandez Alioski and O'Kane.

Agree2 Disagree0

24 Aug 2017 18:59:46
he didn't do too badly scoring 27 goals though

Agree4 Disagree1

24 Aug 2017 20:49:54
The point is he got in the way of others and it was a freak season. Can't argue with the goals in the season but the overall team goal tally was not good enough and he won't do it again most likely.

Agree2 Disagree0

25 Aug 2017 16:09:59
No offense Hess but i'm pretty sure you are the geezer who claimed Bellusci to be our best centre back and Cooper was a total joke. Sorry to say but you were wrong brother. How is Pepe if you don't mind me asking?

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2017 15:47:39
Grot has taken the number 11 shirt so we must be looking for a better replacement for wood that is ready made with goals in him to take the number 9 shirt

Believable2 Unbelievable0

24 Aug 2017 19:00:37
Grot is still young so i would be surprised if he was to be a number 1 striker. More a replacement for the Douk as a back up striker.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2017 15:41:59
Anyone else think someone big must be about to arrive? Radz has said he's going to reinvest the wood money. That's not going to be 15 Grots in the next week

Believable0 Unbelievable0

24 Aug 2017 13:04:21
Orta really needs to stop trying to get Gestede, really not the player we need.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

24 Aug 2017 14:10:20
He's done alright with transfers so far. You Orta trust his judgement a little more.

Agree2 Disagree0

24 Aug 2017 15:02:21
Yes weknow who will be the Victor here

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Aug 2017 16:34:40
He would not have been my first choice however he can score at this level and now we have midfielders who are more attack minded and can put balls into the box . Gestede has not been getting a massive amount of game time and with the way Middlesbrough will play will it fit to his strengths which is getting on the end of set plays balls in the box. I actually think he could be a really good player for us, I only say this from the amount of balls Wood was missing in the last game he played for us .

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Aug 2017 17:44:29
He's not a bad player, I just don't want us to overpay for him. He's worth no more than £4m.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Aug 2017 18:44:54
Not just the 4-6 mill it's how much per week?

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2017 12:11:08
Just seen this on Burnley's official website. Chris Wood statement: "Due to strong interest from another Premier League team, the ongoing discussions with the club, and given it has always been my ambition to play at the highest level, I don't feel it is right that I play this Sunday against Tottenham. I wish the team (I forget many of their names) all the best and hope the lads (whoever they are) can pick up the three points. " MM

Believable3 Unbelievable0

24 Aug 2017 14:13:23
Funny mm. Its going to be hilarious watching him foul! Good luck to him for getting the dosh. But if a prem team can't mark pinocchio out the game. How long was his contract? 2,3 or 5 years?

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Aug 2017 12:01:55
Grot deal done and he has got the number 11 shirt

Believable2 Unbelievable0

24 Aug 2017 13:08:42
So we're awaiting a number 9 then.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Aug 2017 14:14:04
Wow. Number 11. They must rate him. didn't see him as a starter!

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Aug 2017 14:15:54
Good point, be interesting.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Aug 2017 18:48:24
How can you play a brand new 19 year old as a CF straight away especially when Roofe has just done so well in the position. Give the lad time to acclimatise.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2017 12:00:15
These transfers buys are really positive in their contract lengths, another good move on a four year contract for Grot, this boy could be very good, he's a big lad and he has height and very fast (I've just watched him on YouTube) hopefully he will make his debut on Saturday. These are bloody good times ahead, long overdue but Tadz is a legend already in my book! MOT

Believable1 Unbelievable0

24 Aug 2017 12:50:54
I'm missing the 3 month rolling contracts though 🤣

Now, now Aussie. There's always one that takes things too far!

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2017 11:53:02
Still hope that the Lasogga deal isn't dead and wouldn't rule out Leeds fan Troy Deeney. Wages may be an issue but he could well be an amazing signing with the supply he'll get from samu and Alioski.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2017 09:46:13
Refearn really does give the impression that he does not want to see us doing well . Always looking to be critical and talk us down, does he really deserve to hold a position where he comments on Leeds in a continuos negative fashion . If Grots confirmed, another striker and maybe somebody like Elioski for the left side and think it would see us nicely to Jan window

Believable1 Unbelievable0

24 Aug 2017 09:23:46
Redfearn at it again saying Klich is not worth £1.5M and we should of kept Birdcage! He really is boring and I never realised it before but he is really bitter towards us! There is only a handful of ex Managers and players that I like, Simon Grayson is one as he is not bitter and still loves us and I hope he does well at Sunderland but not better than us! Maybe Redfearn should show some dignity instead of always being bitter! MOT

Believable4 Unbelievable0

The same Redfearn who didn't rate Del Fabro but Juventus do?

He has to think of something to go on about doesn't he? Wishing he was still at Leeds. Sad really.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2017 10:02:31
It was noel wheelen who said it Mike. He actually said he couldn't understand why we signed somebody who wasn't better than what we already had and that he believed bridcut was the betterplayer but also said in his defence that it's only 4 weeks in and he's just back from injury and said time will tell.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2017 11:55:42
You know what Martyn the pair of them are really getting on my nerves, I really am going to stop reading their articles because they talk crap, you are right although it was Redfearn who said Klich was not good enough and Whelen said about Birdcage! I don't really know why they have to make such bottomless comments, what do they think they get from it? Recognition? Do you know mate, there is always someone ready to pee all over our parade when things are looking up but you don't expect it from your own! MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2017 13:44:24
Have you read the comments on this site MW? We draw a game and that's our season finished. Redfearne and Whelan are judging prematurely and don't seem to understand that Bridcutt's technical qualities don't really fit with the new playing culture. If he was taller he'd make a decent centre half but, permanently sitting back in midfield just isn't the way we're set up. Alioski has a poor game and all manner of people, Whelan especially, deal with one disappointment by immediately declaring 'he won't cut it'. Klitsch might not cut it but, give him a break. He's moved to a new country, got a new job, hasn't been able to train properly and didn't even get a game pre-season. Judge the fella in November when we're thinking about who to dump in the January window.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Aug 2017 15:04:45
Yes I've read most of them CityWhite and everyone on here seems really happy with things, I don't remember seeing anything being posted about our season being finished because we drew, except from our little friend who has many aliases! I think we are all enjoying the way our club is run now and our owner and Manager are in truth a breath of fresh air, all the signs are positive and Noel Whelen and Redfearn can do one! Good comment about Klitsch though and I agree, we have made some solid signings and like you say once he's fit and settled he will be a force as Leeds will. MOT

This is a very bad draw for us! I mean the squad will have the evening before the match seeing the lights and sounds of the Burnley strip, then play at the cathedral of football that is Turf Moor. Let's face it lads, they'll all be after that dream move down to the M62 after the game!

Well Woody couldn't manage to score against lowly Blackburn after playing 50 minutes in the competition he was bought in to win for them. To me he looks like he isn't focussed. Maybe he has had his head turned by a bigger club. I expect to see him transferred to Barcelona before the transfer window shuts for £100m. MM
