Bring back O'Leary

Cheer up lads, we are two points away from the play offs having played 5 of the top 6 and have the leagues top scorer. We have achieved this with one of the worst back fours in the league and on paper if you could hand pick our next 5 games they wouldn't be far off what we've got. Who knows what might happen if Larry signs 2 or 3 defenders who can actually defend and Snod stops sulking and actually joins in like he did for 20 minutes after Ross's first goal last night M.O.T

Believable6 Unbelievable4

Totally agree mate, well said. For me we are one quality centre-half away from being right up there at the end of the season.

All these doylems who want SG sacked need to have a good hard look at themselves.

Kasper and effectively blamed him for the amount of goals we conceded last year.I cant believe we have only brought O Dea in as our only defensive signing its quite apparent that no matter the quality of the keeper we will concede far more goals than we should because our entire back four is week, Lees and White are fantastic prospects for the future but we need new full backs.O Dea seems to be our only COMPETENT center half i think most people would agree with me on this site we all love Leeds and want to see the team were we belong but until Simon addresses our defensive problems i think we will be struggling to get a playoff spot at best

what about the turner's they maybe some help
one is a defender and one is a midfilder now that
would be good if we can bring them in the frist
team what do you think about that?

Believable2 Unbelievable1

If you want to hear how the other half live, its on Man City site, theyre weighing up an offer for Messi,120 million and 750 thousand a week,er thats 3 million a month,FFS,is that obscene or what, hes 20 internationals and comes out and says hes short of players,we should be so lucky.

Even Paynter aint worth that.

I think Lonergan has been one of our best players this season but it speaks volumes that Grayson sold Kasper and effectively blamed him for the amount of goals we conceded last year.I cant believe we have only brought O Dea in as our only defensive signing its quite apparent that no matter the quality of the keeper we will concede far more goals than we should because our entire back four is week, Lees and White are fantastic prospects for the future but we need new full backs.O Dea seems to be our only COMPETENT center half i think most people would agree with me on this site we all love Leeds and want to see the team were we belong but until Simon addresses our defensive problems i think we will be struggling to get a playoff spot at best

despite our shaky all round form, Ross Mac is still banging them in like nobody's business. doesn't mean he is that good, just that we are one dimensional.

Believable1 Unbelievable5

Nope, means hes good

He is good but he's no super striker. he reminds me so much of David Healy.

I think we completely and utterly bossed the first half an made what has been a very good Brighton side look very ordinary, don't know what happened at half time as we just looked like we didn't come out for second half, is clear for all to see is out defence that's letting us down sort that and who knows, it's a bit late I hear you all screaming but have faith, we are Leeds remember

Believable1 Unbelievable2

Have faith in what? God,SG,luck, its sod all to do with faith, its about bringing in players to do a job,if they dont do the job get shut,ALL managers buy duds, the good ones do something about it,not stand on the touchline scratching their head, needs sorting out or well be here for ever.

Now Grayson has committed public suicide, can we finally move on and get either a new manager or a wiser head (e.g."George Graham") to help Grayson out. If he admits he's tried everything and run out of ideas then he is obviously out of his depth and needs replacing or helped back on to the right track.
As fans we all have run out of ideas too on what should happen, however were now a joke and an embarrassment, especially when on the TV and were made to look like dummies.
On my christmas list all i want is a stronger Leeds time and i can go to the pub happy

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Its not rocket science is it,ALL the fans know, and have known for the past 2 years at least, that is to spend some money and get some quality defenders in,hes tried every permutation there is with his defenders and none has worked, admit defeat SG,get shut of the dead wood and some proven defenders in,strikeforce is as good as any in this league, get a defence to match and were on the up.

in the second half white should come out of defeces
and pugh should becomes he will help us in lb or rb

Class is always relative. Hartlepool sign Solano a top player for that league and look where they ate. It would only take two good defensive signings to turn our team into genuine promotion candidates.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

This has been said since the middle of last season about defenders!! How many more times do we need to re-itterate this point! Even Grayson is aware of it, but still nothing is done!

Its down right incompetence from Grayson.

Here's a thought for you all, all management and coaches are ex defensive players and they're crap at training a half decent back four how about bringing in an ex striker to coach defensive line makes sense don't you think. Andy Ritchie or Paul Dickov would be ideal.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

What a stupid post, was Eddie Gray,or Allan Clark defenders,or hundreds of others? Its about having an eye for talent,or in one or three cases, spending absolute millions on buying the best,if SG cant work out its hight time for new blood its time he handed the reins on.

Agree1 Disagree1

George Graham (forward/ attacking midfielder) organised one of the best defenses of all time.....

Agree2 Disagree0

It's because they know what strikers can't play against, defenders can only teach how they defended

Agree0 Disagree0

I say this with a very heavy heart but we are going absolutely nowhere with the defence we have and I mean every single one of them.

Paul Connoly - Slow, rash and no defensive awareness.

Patrick Kisnorbo - Old, leggy and doesn't seem to be himself [in fariness could just be match fitness hopefully]

Alex Bruce - Tunnel vision never sees what's happening around him and also slow

Andy O'Brien - Time is up, in his prime at best he was an average centre half

Ben Parker - Never fit be lucky to get 5 games a season [sadly should be released]

Tom Lees - Way out of his depth, gets turned inside out on a regular basis [perhaps just a lack of experience]

Leigh Bromby - Awkward , slow and tries too hard [can be a good thing if used in a good way but not his way unfortunately]

Aidan White - Not a left back, simply can't defend [could be potentially a very good winger]

Darren O'Dea - Last and certainly by means the least. Clumsy, slow, headless thug no ability on a football pitch whatsoever. [Any centre half who can't get into he Celtic defence with Daniel Majstorovic ahead of them says it all]

Grayson just needs to admit he's made mistakes when it comes to the defence and start over and I'll respect him a lot more rather than keep defending them. When does he stop defending them?, when were fighting for survival in a league we shouldn't even be in with a solid defence we would be sitting pretty on top of table.

Believable12 Unbelievable1

Absolutely spot on.odea is terrible.and yes white on left wing may be good and he has sped to get back to help out.it was keystone cop stuff.forget play offs ,it's making sure we don't go down with that lot

24 Sep 2011 13:23:23
It seems to me that if clayton plays well then howson won't and vice Vera , if we get them too both playing well on a regular basis then our team will be much stronger,

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Either that or they can't play together, get Vyranen in, he looked quite sharp when he came on last night.

24 Sep 2011 12:20:51
We need a centre back! Bromby was at fault for all three goals. Why can every Leeds fan see that we need a strong defence, but the staff can't.

Please sign some defenders, no good scoring 3 or 4 knowing your going to let the same in. No good for the heart.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

Ross said on Sky Sports we need to score 3 to get a point sums up our defence. Lees will be ruined if we keep playing him RB as he is too slow, Aidy is LM not LB and although O'Dea had a decent game last night none of our CB instill confidence, maybe we should try Lees in his best position

Most people are singing off the same sing sheet on here, but are still blind and moaning about the "moaners." Were hardly setting this division alight are we? I mean a few individual performances to be pleaded about, Mcormack can't stop scoring, but it's a bloody good job isn't it otherwise we would be swimming in the piss of most of the division. Aidy White is maturing nicely, lonegran is proving his critics and Clayton is a sensation. However four men don't make a team and the lack of anything remotely worthy of note from various others is creating plenty to moan about.

Grayson stated in his post match interview that defensively he had tried everything and was now out of ideas for a problem he admitted had been current for over 12 months!!! Alleluia Grayson......... Sadly though signing strikers doesn't solve your defence issue, well I suppose we can always score more than them or enough for a point, but in the words of the pundits and Grayson himself that's simply un-sustainable. Even Ross Mcormsck had a back handed swipe at our inability to kill games off, back tracking by saying defence starts from the front. Take a bow Ross because for much of that game I saw you in howsons position, deep in midfield while howson ran around like a puppy chasing s ball in the park.

What happened last night was unprofessional and totally inept and is a disease that is inherent in our team. Teams never know their beaten against Leeds and we can't finish games off.

Something needs doing

Believable7 Unbelievable2

So SG is out of ideas? well heres one, stop signing strikers and get some defenders in who can actually defend, what a waste of our strikers watching crap performances in defence, cmon SG,sort the defence ASAP.

I'm confused why we take the likes of Forsell on trial yet don't even look at players like Parnaby?

I'm not sure whether he would be an improvement but surely he's worth looking at?

Agree2 Disagree1

Strange interview after the Brighton match , i can scence a bit of a cheesed off reaction from mc cormack after he had scored two and still drew, having to stick up for another crap defensive display.

For me last night first half on top for all but 10 minutes in the middle, those who say Howson and Snoddy not playing well they were excellent!
We defended as a team and looked solid and attacked brilliant as usual! And we looked like a team that could have gone unbeaten rest of the season, however the players just let off the gas second half, the fault either lies in player mentality, as Grayson said or what Grayson and his staff said in the 10 minutes in the changing room.
I'm unsure, I do feel Grayson is the man for the job, stability in a manager is the way forward, not sacking them when they have a hiccup, I think SG needs to look at his back room staff as I do feel we now have the right squad to move forward, any addition now will be a bonus and someone will have to leave for the addition!

Believable1 Unbelievable7

What game were u watching?

Agree4 Disagree0

At what stage did you manage to extract your head from your arse? Or did you just dream you saw the game? Brighton dominated totally from just after Ross got his first up to the point where the ref blew his whistle to end the game. We were very lucky to come away with a point. Just to help you in future Snodgrass is the fat, slow one with 23 on his back and Howson is the thin one in the middle of the pitch that runs round like a headless chicken after the ball and has a 14 on his back!

Agree3 Disagree3

From the time Ross scored our second up until half time Snodgrass showed more interest than I have seen this season. Unfortunately the world and his dog knew Gus would come out all guns blazing but we had put a sedative in the halftime tea and got caught cold. Snod was anonymous and Bromby had a 45 min disaster. I thought Howson played well but Clayton was subdued in a holding role. Pugh had a quit game and I would like to see Vayrenan given a start

Hate to point this out, but Tom Lees got ripped a new one last night by Lua Lua..! kid me not, I know hes a CB put his turn of pace is slightly less better than Kisnorbo's.
S.G get him off the right flank and into the centre before his confidence is shot for the season..

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Centre Backs rarely have a great turn of pace? Otherwise they would be playing in the Prem. Well unless they're terribly bad at tackling.

Agree1 Disagree0

Yep, Lees not a centre back. Would rather have Connolly there.

Grayson talks about player's mental approach in conceding goals and that it might mean us missing out on play-offs. How about grayson's mental approach? Has he give up on automatic promotion already?! Norwich bouncing right back to prem. Brighton and Southampton pushing for the same. Only keep hearing Grayson talking of over achieving last year etc...

Believable2 Unbelievable1

How can Grayson smile after the game last night ,we just let a 2 goal lead go and were lucky to get a draw he should be livid, after brighton levelled he just stood there staring into space instead of giving someone a rocket or shouting or something

Agree2 Disagree1

Brighton and So'ton have WAY more money than us t strengthen, we all no KB wont put funds in, which is why the increasing amount of 'Bates Out' chants happen

after reading these posts can I just remind our fellow Leeds fans we are only 7 points from top with 38 games left, and if you look back to last season we didn't start playing until after we lost 4-0 to cardiff and that was November . so we are doing better at this stage than last season. chin up people we are Leeds it will come.
