What makes our new keeper think he can tell us a pack of lies and treat us like idiots before he had even kicked a ball.Listening on yorkshire radio after he was signed he said that the delay to his signing was due to his daughter, and that it was only ever going to be leeds, so why did ken bates say today that the delay was due to him wanting a move to the premiership so we were 2nd best who does he think he is, drop his arse simon he's not that good anyway I never wanted him rachubka as no1

Quote from Papa Smurf himself...

''We ve got one or two other positions we are looking at actively. I spent most of last night on the phone with agents representing two more midfield players, both of whom are rather good. In fact, one can also play up front. So hopefully we are going to get those across to Leeds this weekend. The agents are coming to see me today in Monaco so hopefully we ll get those across and have a look at them. They both come with good CVs. As I said, we don t sign players on videos or recommendations, we like to have a look at them because that s the way you can find out about their characters as well as their skills and their attitude to the game''

I wonder who they might be ?

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Sounds like they have not got clubs if we are getting them across to have a look if they had clubs they would know enough about them

Cuddly Ken announced this afternoon that two agents representing quality midfield premier league players are meeting him in Monaco for discussions. Finding agents who offer quality Premier League players is not the difficult part. Finding agents of quality players who are willing to play for the sort of wages normally paid to run of the mill players however is. Money talks and we have very little to say

One of the main thing with this site that upsets me the most is the amount of fellow leeds fans being negative. If we get behind the lads, and give them our pride and passion we will challenge this year. MOT

Believable5 Unbelievable5

Pride and passion only go so far, with players of the calibre of Paynter and Parker in the side weve no chance, if theyre replaced by quality signings and our main strikers arent out too long weve a chance of the play-offs, so cmon Batesy, spend some cash.

Agree0 Disagree0

Think most people are missing the point, we are all Leeds Fans, we all love our Club, who ever runs out against Southampton on first game we will be behind them. But and a big but we pay our money we are entitled to our opinion, personally think the abmition is there from bates & greyson, though they dont back it up, bates doesn't finacially and greyson needs more fight, we made it out div1 just nearly blew it again, blew the play offs last term, was that the players or the manager, I dont know. They have brought in some good lads, Max for example but also some rubbish Paynter (was never going to cut it he is Div 1) and Bessone (just give this guy away). This seasons signings, if you really think about and are 100% are poor they may not make the team worse than last season, but it is certainly not better. We will stuggle unless they have something up there sleeves, but they lie, we where never going to get Woody, Bowyer or Smith, dout we even made 1 call about any of them. Snoddy will go if we get decent offer, so wil Max. We are a selling club but only if it suits bates not the club. Think this is going to be hard season guys, but what ever each of us thinks or write on here we will be behind the team, we will be marching on together, we will have our ups and downs, cos the most important thing, forget who pulls on the shirt this season or even the next, we love our club not the player, chairman or manager they can be who ever, the most important thing is we are all Leeds. WE ARE LEEDS

A good squad for the championship could be as follows:-

A.Lonegan
P.Rachbuka
P.Connelly
B.Parker
E.Lichaj
A.Bruce
L.Bromby
P.Kissnorbo
A.White
A.O'Brien
---------------
M.Gradel
R.Snodgrass
L.Sam
A.Clayton
J.Howson
R.Nunez
N.Montgomery
S.Quinn
S.Clingan
M.Brown
--------------
L.Becchio
B.Paynter
R.McCormack
D.Somma
B.Sharp

25 good quality players with cover in all positions creating competition for places. Come on S.G & K.B get the ones that are missing at the moment. Just my opinion but it would not break the bank to assemble the above squad.

Believable5 Unbelievable1

About 5 mill, biggest chunk on sharp but that would do us good in this league for sure

Tell Sven were offering Paynter a new 5 year deal, he may put a bid in.

If Grayson thinks a couple of players "are not up to it" Now is the time to act, if not two weeks ago. We all know Grayson likes a loan or two, therfore I would expect two or three loans from the premiership.

I would consider:

Ryan Bertrand - Chelsea
Craig Eastmond - Arsenal
Dedryck Boyata - Man City
Eric Lichaj - Villa
Daniel Pacheco - Liverpool

Now I aint saying we could or should get all of these players but 1 or 2 would be a huge boost to our squad.

To be fair it does not matter if we dont sign anyone or if Deane, Pemberton, Palmer and Masinga turn up again we will still support out team like no other fans can.

MOT

Believable1 Unbelievable1

All good shouts except Pacheco, he's going to Norwich on loan I believe

Paynter is better than Torres, he just needs a chance. Big, strong, loves to head the ball.

Believable5 Unbelievable5

How many more chances does he need? To be fair he has had plenty during these Pre-season games. If he was as good as some are making out he wouldn't have needed that many chances.........nice lad, but obviously just not confident or technically able to do it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Loves to head it wide of the target

Agree0 Disagree0

I bet if i offered a swap deal with Chelsea they'd turn me down in a flash

Agree0 Disagree0

Paynter should play against BPA in the Leeds XI. Might give him a boost... failing that, he could go on loan there :P

Agree0 Disagree0

After watching their number 9 and 10 there's no way Paynter would get in their first team

Agree0 Disagree0

You obviously didnt watch his games last year. He is big but gets shoved all ball easy, doesnt challenge for headers, his passing is poor, his shooting is poor and i have been to two pre-season games and doesnt look the slightist bit intrested

Leicester are closing in on a deal for Manchester City's forgotten midfielder Michael Johnson.

Johnson has endured two injury-hit seasons at City and has slipped way down the pecking order at Etihad Stadium.

The 23-year-old is keen to leave City as he looks to get his career back on track and City are thought to be willing to loan him out.

Wolves and Leeds have both been credited with an interest in Johnson, but Leicester are thought to be favourites for the highly-rated midfielder.

Leicester boss Sven Goran Eriksson is a huge admirer of Johnson having given the player his big break in the City team when he was in charge of the club.

Believable3 Unbelievable4

27 Jul 2011 13:43:02
Apparently City offered Michael Johnson to Wolves as McCarthy was in the market for a midfielder and Leeds stuck their oar in as SG had tried to sign him before he injured his knee. I think he'd be a great signing. A quality midfielder who's been out for a while with everything to prove again.

However are good friends Leicester are in the race now aswell. I just hope he picks the right club.

Also Jay Spearing is available from Liverpool. Class player on his day. {Ed001's Note - Spearing is not available, yet. Liverpool have not made a decision on him for next season. I don't know why there are so many rumours floating around about him.}

Believable0 Unbelievable3

And he is also a leeds fan.

Actually we do know the ins and outs of the Smith transfer. The truth was told about a year ago (by Norman Hunter i believe) that the club asked him to go to Scum as the highest cash in hand offer. The club then inferred that Smith had taken the offer out of greed, rather than as a favour to the club he loved.
The club should be appologising to the fans for deceiving them, to Smith for scapegoating him and the fans should be appologising to Smith for allowing themselves to belive the lies of the previous owners.
We owe him, not the other way around.

Believable7 Unbelievable3

Rubbish.

Agree0 Disagree0

True, but he is also staying at newcastle for the money and then moving abroad for the money. Good leeds "fan" him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Personally I don't want him anyway but lets be honest about one thing.. He might 'Love' Leeds but.. It is a job at the end of the day... How many of you would take a pay cut when you know you have easy money at barcodes ?

Now Leicester are after Michael johnson, there must be decent players available from leicester cos Svens got an entire new squad I think 3 more quality signings and we'll be stronger, looking forward to seeing Nunez this season

Believable2 Unbelievable1

All excited for the new season I think we have a squad good enough for promotion again. Although in my opinion a striker should be brought in on loan to cover just while Luciano or Somma return. Paynter despite his efforts has been disappointing so far although I would love to see him smash in a few and McCormack depite being lively and enthusiastic lacks the strength and height needed fot the 4-5-1 formation which served us well last season. I would like to see a striker such as Jon Parkin come on loan. A big strong target man who knows how to put the ball in the back of the net. However if the 4-4-2 formation is used i do think Paynter and McCormack do have the potential for goals its just getting them off the mark. The problems with Leeds fans is they are so quick to criticise, I do it myself.

Take Paynter for instance the guy can score goals its just getting the confidence in him to do that, similar to fernando torres at chelsea, once he gets a few goals he will start banging them in. I think he may surprise us given the opportunity this season.

Hopefully Alex Mendy will be signed. Him and Nunez are 2 very direct attacking players that will make things happen. It will take a little pressure off our 'under-fire' strikers and also help while our beloved No. 10 is recovering

Believable4 Unbelievable0

Seriously? comparing Paynter to Torres??
Thank you for making my day

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes comparing paynter to torres....last season neither of them could score in a room full of hungry hookers with a pocket full of fifties

Agree0 Disagree0

Paynter is better than Torres, he just needs a chance. Big, strong, loves to head the ball.

Agree0 Disagree0

Perhaps we can get Chelsea to buy Paynter for £55 million....if he's better, he's got to be worth that.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jon Parkin from cardiff? thank god your not our manager he's tripe, bring carew in.... Harry MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

If you take out Paynters last season at Swindon his record is one goal in every five games and thats in League 1 & 2. Chelsea must have been mad to pay 55m for Torres but I doubt the new manager is pinning this seasons hopes on Billy

Agree0 Disagree0

Torres AND Paynter Are alike cos they are both s**te, only we didnt pay 50 mill.

Agree0 Disagree0

Personally i think we should swap paynter for suarez and fabregas for clayton.

jesus bloody christ i love this ridiculous board sometimes

Apparently Michael Johnson has another admirer as well as Leeds and Wolves......you guessed it, Sven the joker is looking to fire his transfer scatter gun again, outbid everyone else and land Johnson. I believe he is a very good player and of course a Leeds fan. BUT..... hasn't played a lot, very injury prone, and would cost a lot in wages and loan fees.

DO PEOPLE WANT MICHAEL JOHNSON. WOULD HE MAKE THE DIFFERENCE IN MIDFIELD.

'He need's to be given a chance, once he gets a few he will get 20 a season'

and what makes you think that? He's only managed it once in his career and that was in league1. he has been given a chance already, in fact he's had 20+ not including every game of preseason and he's only netted once He is simply not good enough

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm all for giving people a fair crack but I just can't see billy cutting it at all, lots of strikers have "a good season" then do nothing for the rest of their career, i think we got suckered and we have michael ricketts part 2. i really hope he proves me wrong and i won't be on his back at matches as i realise it won't help but seriously, i just can't see him doing anything for us

Speaking on Yorkshire Radio , Grayson said, "It was a decent work out. I think first half we were average to say the least.
"I thought we didn t start the game well enough, we didn t pass the ball properly, we didn t have a tempo, we were sloppy and we gave the ball away far too easily and if we start games like we did we will get punished.
"Second half we were much sharper and brighter and we had a decent tempo to the game.
"Certain issues tonight made me look at the squad and individuals and we have quite a bit of work to do still. I was nearly falling asleep on the bench."

The words of Simon Grayson after the Norway game.
Any thoughts?

People saying about harry kewell returning make me physically sick {Ed003's Note - You should see a doctor about that,try a rennie(other brands are available) might just be indigestion}

Believable7 Unbelievable0

I feel the same about Smith too.

Agree0 Disagree0

I am not usually one for all this vitriol and hate against former players. But I do feel HK was disrespectful when engineering a cheap transfer to Liverpool. However, playing for Galatasaray when there must have been other options showed a real lack of class and respect for Leeds fans. Thats hard to forget. {Ed045's Note - Harry was a quality player, it's a shame his personality didn't match that though, wouldn't want him back personally.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed, I posted the above. You are quite right, quality wise Kewell was excellent and could have gone on to be World class. Was my fav player for a long time. Pace, dribble, long shot, header, trickery. It's sad that as you say he turned out the way he did. I wouldn't want him back either. I blame Sheree Murphy

Agree0 Disagree0

Lads, I don't like HK as much as the next Leeds fan. but who can not blame him for " engineering a cheap move" If the board say no it dosn't happen, simple as.

Does anyone think we should of signed barry ferguson before he went to blackpool

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Victor Anichebe also in talks with Blackpool - this is a player who could do a job for Leeds.. Ive been to 2 pre-season games so far and worringly both McCormack and Paynter seem to lack confidence and dont look sharp - on the positive Nunez, Gradel, Howson and at times Brown look assured in the middle. when we come up against decent opposition (Newcastle) we will be tested and then we will see if we can perform with our mediocre back four

Agree0 Disagree0

No. He is 33, a tw$%, and would be on big wages relative to ours. He also cost approx 600k. Don't think the Colonel would sanction that for a 33 year old with no re-sale value.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Jul 2011 23:50:19
Did anyone honestly think that smith would come back to leeds all he is bothered about is sitting on the bench at newcastle and picking up is 65k a week

Believable4 Unbelievable2

Being honest, can you blame the guy. he got stick off the majority of fans when he went to scum. i reckon the max we would be prepared to offer is around 15k per week, thats £2.6million he's going to throw away potentially just in wages. we all love leeds but would you walk away from £2.6m regardless of how minted you were, especially when he will effectively retire in the next 5 years? Finally how do we know for certain that we even offered him anything other that all crap on here with people who have supposedly bumped into his mum in the street in rothwell or spoken to his barber

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said to the last poster From what I've gathered from Geordie associates there's been no firm interest and The only interest from Leeds were the mutterings on Yorkshire Radio from Bates and Grayson that they'd be interested if he could prove fitness n wages were right. No one has bid for him and unless he gets an offer he will be sticking his contract out. I'm more disappointed than anyone as I have supported the guy from day one and I've found myself compromised because I got to know him well but continued to be a massive Lufc fan when he left. Contrary to popular anti Smith feeling, he's a good bloke and I just think the nufc game may lead to something...I don't know tbh I'll MOT regardless don't you worry.
