It's interesting that some fans are thing that Lassoga wanting to play in the premiership is a joke. He would probably do well there given the quality of the players that could be around him. Give him the service and he will score. He is the best finisher Leeds have had for a long time. He will not do as well as he could because the rest of the team are so average. Without many chances being created he has still got into double figures - without penalties and without too much playing time. He will do OK in a good team but not so much in ours because he has to half a dozen other jobs as well -do the creating, tracking back, crossing etc etc that could and should be done by others who are paid to do just that. A certain amount of 'other duties' is necessary but in the Leeds team it's ridiculous. He's there to score and he does given the chance.

Totally agree Hess!

He may be a good finisher but has absolutely no other football skill at all. More is expected of a striker these days whether in champ or prem. Wood had more skill and he is struggling.

Agree3 Disagree3

28 Mar 2018 09:31:55
Wood is not as good a finisher as Lassoga. For a lot of games Wood was absolutely awful and I saw most of them - then he would score. The classic was Derby away. Absolute rubbish for 87 minutes then he turns on a ball 20 yards out and puts it in the top corner. Quite a few of his goals were penalties however. I am not sure, if you take out the penalties, who has the better strike rate based on minutes played, lassoga or Wood. I said at the time 'he's (Wood) had a great season scoring but a poor one in everything else'. He did get better but he was never great. I don't expect him to keep scoring as he did for season after season

Agree2 Disagree1

28 Mar 2018 11:06:29
I thought wood was rubbish too. Just a goal scorer and you are right about penalties. But he was a better header and could control a ball better and worked 10 times as hard as lassoga! I don't get why people rate him. He is atrocious.

Agree0 Disagree2

28 Mar 2018 12:50:35
I don't rate him for this Leeds team. I just recognise a good finisher. All I am saying he will probably do better in a better team. He was rated very highly not so long ago and was on the periphery of the German national team. When I see him with the ball in and around the box I expect to see him score and he usually does. Wood, if given time to think, will usually miss. Lassaga is clinical our other 'strikers' are not.

Agree2 Disagree0

28 Mar 2018 14:57:00
Wood scored a goal last season from a pass from ayling that was pure class. Great speed. Control and finish. Lassoga couldn't have scored that in a million years. He can't control a ball. Usually falls over it. In perfect conditions. No defender in sight. And ball on the ground in front of him. He can score. But i can do that.

Agree0 Disagree1

28 Mar 2018 16:48:17
We will have to disagree. I saw Wood a lot and he has scored good goals. Usually, if he time to think, he makes a botch and misses. If its just see it and hit it he had some good strikes. Watching Lassoga and he has time he thinks and works out where best to place the ball and scores - usually. He can also score when he hasn't a great deal of time. He needs the service and we haven't the team to provide it. We need a player a bit better than Ecuban at running the channels but who can also score. They don't come cheap and often lose form when they come to Leeds. Everyone said Lassoga was great when he first arrived then he wasn't as good but kept scoring at a reasonable rate. Fuse Lassoga and Ecuban together and you might have a half decent player.

Don't know how I feel about Pontus wanting a sitdown meeting. I probably think that if you see people around you, therefore the team, failing. Anouncements of not much of a budget then if you have ambitions maybe you would want to know what is happening. Maybe when you joined you were sold a club going somewhere, forward thinking, forward moving where in essence all you can see is it treading water. Would you have not rather have signed for a Wolves or a Cardiff or a Fulham? If, he wants him to stay it's now down to Radz to convince him of "the plan" and sell him the big push next year. To show him that patience is a virtue. That the young guns will fire us to promotion. That there are some in the stands waiting a lot longer than him.

I completely agree with Jansson. I doubt he'd have signed the contract if he knew we'd be bringing Barnsley's manager in. If more players speak up about our lack of ambition, as well as season ticket sales falling, it will wake Radz up that we won't accept mediocrity for the prices we pay.

Agree4 Disagree3

27 Mar 2018 16:21:59
Unfortunately the "plan" is to sell Jansson and probably Saiz in the Summer to fund next seasons recruits. The meeting plays into Radz/Orta's hands as the result of which will lead to Jansson putting in a transfer request and therefore forgoing his contract being paid up in the event he is sold.

Notts, you are spot on unfortunately.

Agree1 Disagree2

27 Mar 2018 20:59:08
So there is a plan to sell our two best players. ? Not me making it up as post by someone twitt on this site calling it negativity on my part.

Agree1 Disagree2

28 Mar 2018 00:03:29
I doubt they want to sell both but will need to sell one. Saiz is too good to sell in my opinion. But whether we can get more than$10 mill for pont is doubtful and that's not enough.

28 Mar 2018 13:24:39
What is your source for this plan Notts, or is it just a guess?

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Mar 2018 20:32:32
Pontus probably worth around £5M after the season he's had/having, hardly inspirational, and those crippling injuries that last half a game .

27 Mar 2018 13:52:00
A few on here saying we should get rid of Viera come the end of the season but his England call up surely shows he is a great talent for his age. We sometimes forget how young he is and that it takes time for players to mature.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

27 Mar 2018 14:00:03
I wouldn't sell, I'd loan to a lower Championship team. He still gives the ball away too much and needs to improve his game, but we need more experienced midfielders if we want promotion.

Agree1 Disagree4

27 Mar 2018 14:24:35
He is young. He needs gametime. He needs to work on his mistakes. So, yes a loan away to a quality L1 team or even Championship is on the cards but he must be guaranteed an agreed amount of games.

Agree1 Disagree0

27 Mar 2018 14:47:53
Personally think he'd be too good for league 1 and its an insult to his potential. Show me another player playing for england u20's that is in league 1.

Agree1 Disagree0

27 Mar 2018 15:55:14
His age is the only reason I'd keep him his form as been poor like most players we have his passing as been atrocious I'd personally take him away from first team and give him game time else where whether that's on loan or under 23s.

27 Mar 2018 22:39:31
SG, on current form he is playing for a lower championship side now!

BPF De Bock/Pearce Jansson Helander Coyle Forshaw Adam Goncalves Saiz Alioski Nmecha. Weidwald Cooper Berardi Lansbury Phillips Roofe Roberts. Manager Silva/Bilic. Sign Helander £5m, Adam free, Lansbury £2m, Goncalves (loan) , Nmecha (loan) . Do it Radz, that'd get us promotion.

Luke ayling not good enough?

27 Mar 2018 13:52:40
Who is nmecha

Agree3 Disagree0

27 Mar 2018 13:58:28
Nmecha plays for Man City, prolific in u23 and England youth. Similar style in Ekuban in that he could run behind defences and holds the ball up well.

Agree1 Disagree0

27 Mar 2018 13:59:08
Ayling was awful before his injury. I rate Coyle better than him, but swap Berardi for Ayling and sell Berardi.

Agree2 Disagree0

27 Mar 2018 14:49:32
This nmecha scored many goals? Ill have a look at him, also ayling is probably better off in CB than spending 5m on helander, ayling is good neough to play there and you can still play coyle RB

Agree0 Disagree1

27 Mar 2018 15:00:04
Ayling isn't a CB. We're lacking height at the back, which is why Helander would be perfect and if we'd shown more ambition in the summer, he'd already be at ER.

27 Mar 2018 18:58:35
Can't argue with the choices of incomers SG but if we prsue them what message does it send to the young guns waiting.

Two of the best players we have at the moment Saiz + Pontus . I think Saiz started off absolutely brilliant, then was overplayed a little while trying to come to terms with the rigours of his first year in Championship causing a little dip in performance levels, he also started trying too hard, trying to carry the team and be involved in everything as the other players were out of form and he was our only real attacking threat, basically to repeat an old fashion term he was overplayed. Janson on the other hand was trying to carry the defence, given some of the weaker players alongside him. Though I have serious concerns over Janson's long term fitness and his ability to play 50 games a season for the next 3 seasons. Based on this I would try to keep Saiz except if we were offered £20m plus . For Janson an offer in the £8 to £10m bracket I think would accept, as we could get 2 or 3 replacements for that kind of money

Believable1 Unbelievable1

27 Mar 2018 13:30:18
Yeah sell them to replace them with inferior players. 😂

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Mar 2018 13:46:21
Not sure Jansson wants to stay afetr this year but i would keep Saiz if we can - like a lot on here have said the worry of having cash to spend is who we spend it on - we have wasted a lot this season but then again maybe the acquisition of Forshaw shows we are going for a different type of player now.

Agree2 Disagree0

27 Mar 2018 13:50:26
Jansson just wants the club to show ambition and rightly so. No doubt he was lied to when he signed his new contract.

This post will probably furstrate a lot of you. I know it has me, picture this: Green, Ayling, Jansson, Barts, Taylor, Byram, Cook, Forshaw, Hernandez, Saiz, Wood. BPF, Bera, Bamba, Alioski, Vieira, Lasogga, Dallas. All played for leeds in the last 2 years, does that frustrate anybody else like a lot? That would absolutely walk out of this league with ease
