Having witnessed Lee Peltier's performance yesterday I must say he can surely not remain as skipper. Would people agree? He is all over the shop. He is not a commanding influence and by his own admission not the most vocal either. NW called him a " Rolls Royce" defender. Well, that's NW for you. Unless he is talking about a rolls that has been left to rust and deteriorate for 30 years in a garage I'm not sure what he meant. Shame we didn't get Joel Ward.

Said it many times it takes a certain type of player to wear that armband everytime I see peltier with it on he just freezes

We need a left back of quality to balance with byram. white can go for me. ross might have to be sacrificed as he is no tip of the diamond at the moment. pearce noris pugh tonge should all do the decen thing. perhaps in a pact

We've got one! Ex England left back Steve Warnock.

Agree0 Disagree0

Add Peltier to that list to go. At fault for both goals Saturday. The defence is awful.

Agree0 Disagree0

I do not think we need a LB. warnock is good enough for this level. Our priority is a LW with pace.
Our biggest need was a CM who can tackle and play and I saw more in Murphy that I have seen in anyone else for a few years. Dawson I think will be given a chance once he has recovered from his shoulder injury and played a few games with the U21s.
We also have Austin who I think will be the back of the diamond and we will use green for now.
Diouf when back will be RW and green backup for that too.
Strikers we have enough. Certainly I don't think bmcd sees it as priority otherwise he would not have got the two be has.
RB will be taken by bryam when fit. Peltier to stand in.
CB is the next priority after the LW for me. He has to be strong and have speed.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry don't agree warnock is well capable in this position, we need and evrybody knows this is a commanding center half to bring lees on

Agree0 Disagree0

Lets be honest here are defence has always been shocking if fans have only just realised that then I have one question for you where have you been hiding for all this time

Agree0 Disagree0

Green & Byram down the right hand side of a diamond is a good combination, we just need a decent left winger with Austin the CDM & Murphy the CAM, McCormack & Smith up front? Add a CB and I'd be happy, a goalscoring striker and I'd be over the moon.

on OS it says 25, 500 tickets sold for brighton. if we can hit 30,000 for our first game it would be great plus gfh might be given the confidence to push the boat out in the transfer market.

Hi Fellow Leeds Fans Around the World

So my contact at TA finally came through. He works in admin and says this time around things are very different at Leeds. Transfer targets are protected like with great deal of secrecy.

He says Leeds have the transfer budget but top management have a put a cap of wage budget. Which is spreading thin due to dead rubbers in the team. According to him only mild inquiries have been made for Paul Green & Aidy White. but he thinks BMD has them in his plan to capture glory. BMD on the other hand is ready to listen offers for other players like Ryan Hall, Tonge and Norris.

According to him, regarding transfer targets - he heard distinctively that a defender from Manchester City may be on his way. but he may be a back up as he has heard BMD saying many times that he wants a out and out Central defender who is strong and can control the play from back.

my friend also speculated that a former Valencia winger may be a target as he is a free agent. (I think it could be Vicente) He overheard this conversation.

And finally, my friend feels there will be no more transfers up forward as BMD feels he has his top 6. Diouf, Varney, Hunt, McCormack, Poleon and Smith.

What do you think guys?

interesting specualtion - but clearly that top 6 forward line isn't good enough - and we need a pacey forward on both right and left side ; agree we need a centre half who can play it on the deck. and agree that dead rubber as you call it has to go first - as is the way with all business - give it time and we will improve and sign more players if they are right for LUFC. No more panic buying or buying players unfit out of contract mates Warnock style!? like Webber Norris and co - and the African donkey - terrible impulse bargain basement management

I think it could be you my friend ha

Anyone else felling a bit nervous for the new season, I don't think McDermott is too sure who the starting eleven are, but if yesterday's starting eleven are anything to go by then it's going to be the same as the last few seasons as in long ball, the midfield don't seem to want or keep the ball, wheres the passing team we were expecting, and the bench is week, can't see the likes of Pugh, Brown, Norris, Drury, being able to change a game if were on the back foot, let's hope a 30,000 + crowd can upset the opposition.

Bates reckons he was saving the club money by agreeing a contract to fly him back and forth to Monaco using a private jet over a three year period, well you fat cheeky b4st4rd Bates why not move to Leeds, oh forgot you won't pay tax that's why you live abroad. Why should the club pay for your travel, once again you are trying to rid the club of money as you have done all along during your stay. Listen to the fans! you are detested by the majority, if you want to get on by back I will carry you back to Monaco via a couple of dodgy cliff top ledges. Sue me? {Ed001's Note - here is a good link to read some of the stuff Bates has done previously, just in case anyone thinks he was actually a decent chap who saved Leeds: http://www.thesquareball.net/2011/10/28/1968-ken-bates-noel-lloyd-and-the-fate-of-a-caribbean-island/ }

What a nerve that man has. What gives him the right to even expect expenses. He has done very well out of Leeds and also Chelsea. Greed is the ruination of society. GFH you have done a great service to this club. Now please invest real money in the club because the sooner Leeds get promoted the quicker you will recoup your investment James.

Agree0 Disagree0

Also google bates Melvyn levi court case and look at the judges summing up.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ken bates has just been on the radio maybe taking legal action, bound to put off investors, that's all we need right now.

Just a question? If indeed Red Bull are coming in with money, and by doing so they want the team to be a success, and given we are a week away from the first game of the season, wouldn't you want your money invested to go into players on the pitch to get you that success, as opposed to buying back ER and TA firsrt, surely you would purchase those from your success. Without player investment, as all the teams around us are showing, surely are success is going to be limited?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

They need to buy back the ground before they can get renaming rights, and we won't get transfer money til that has been done. we'll be waiting for January for player recruitment.

Agree0 Disagree0

That may not be the case. The club probably has the right to sell the naming rights under the terms of the lease. I haven't seen the lease but that would be a normal arrangement for a football club with a long term leaseback arrangement.

What an appropriate way for bates to be kicked out, spending £500k of OUR money. Good riddance! It's obvious he has a hand in the ownership of ER indirectly. I say let those owners keep the dated stadium and with investment let's build a new fit for purpose arena in Leeds or on east side of city nearer A1. Bye bye Pappa! Roy

We need the killer 20 striker, Lefondre, Sharpe,
Cd Mills Gorks
Winger Mackay Stevens,

Another quality midfielder. Dorrans

Bates was sacked for signing LUFC up to a contract with a private jet company so he could fly from monaco to leeds and back in luxury:

A lot of negativity surrounding today's performance & result, but you have to say we were playing a much much stronger team than us, a team who can put Esswien on the bench & still have a quality starting 11. Paul Green was the outstanding player today with Tom Lees also having a good game. I think we looked poor in attack and Peltier had a shocker; Leeds definitely missed a strong midfield player (Austin) and again a real lack of width.
Apparently Leeds are working on a 'one out one in' system, and we have had an enquiry about one of our players, B. McD wants to have it sorted by Tuesday at the latest! Fingers Crossed.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Did you even go to the game? There was plenty of width, just no quality in the final third. Ross, Varney, Poleon & White looked clueless interchanging. Warnock got ripped to shreds and Pearce was awful. Green, Lees and Murphy were the only plusses.

Agree0 Disagree0

The fact that you mentioned Esswein shows that your opinion is based on Fifa, Esswein is pretty below par for A Bundesliga side.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree;
Poleon looked out of his depth (time will tell) White would run all day long but no clue with the ball, Pearce and Peltier not good enough at this level and £1 mill for Murphy? Smith great header of the ball won a few but no quality on the deck.
Today we carried at least 4 players that's a big lump of the team, if that is our best then we will struggle even though we played a decent team in Nurnburg, let's hope championship sides are worse than these Germans

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry mate but green looked out of his depth, only murphy and lees looked like any quality. Kenny hesitated with first goal he was going to punch ball and ended up in no mands land and watched the ball fly over his head. Also nuremburgh are a poor german bundesliga club that have been religation fodder for years. Too many players at club who will not figure in team on high wages cheers colin.

I have little doubt that our current squad are more than capable of getting us out of the Championship but I wasn't keen on League 1 last time so I hope GFH find a bit more cash stuffed down the back of the sofa. Before everyone starts with support the lads or go forth, I have supported Leeds for 46 years and always will, just telling it how I see it

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Original poster- I like your style. Whilst I don't think the current squad will leave us anywhere relegation I don't think we will achieve play offs either. I agree entirely with your point re people criticising any realistic assessments or points of view that are not blindly optimistic. Often gets construed as " your not a real fan". It's like the thought police! After all, it's a game of opinions.

Hi Ed, I saw on the official site that for the the Nurnberg game you could actually WATCH the game live.
Does that mean we will now actually be able watch the games live on lutv and not just get radio commentary?
Or was it a typo?

it would be great news if we can watch the games live, as these days I can't afford to comes to many games as I travel from the south.

Regards Aldo
MOT {Ed007's Note - I don't know how it will work for Leeds but from using Celtic TV and others I would say it was probably streamed live because it was a friendly. Leeds owned the rights to it so could do what they wanted. Irish fans can watch live streams from CelticTV as well for a fee/subscription but it is blocked in the UK.}
