Now the euphoria of being champions has sunk in, I think it is paramount that Orta ( via Bielsa wishes on player recruitment ) really delivers in the transfer market with 4 or 5 new quality players presuming that Bielsa wants this amount.

Two central defenders and at least one proven goalscorer are I believe a must. (I hope KP is not played in defence even for just 1 game next season)

A back up for Pablo is also very advisable.

A left back and another goalkeeper (assuming Kiko leaves) to spar with Meslier for the number 1 spot.

Unless Ben White puts in a transfer request soon, Orta and Bielsa I hope are already sourcing abd making offers on alternatives.

MOT # get quality recruitment done ( quickly preferably )

Baz it’s leeds we will be waiting until the window shuts and then announcing a signing from a mid table league 2 side because all the decent players will be snapped up in the first 2 weeks. Always the bridesmaids and all that.

very good post BV I agree 100%

tad you are very negitive. don't get me wrong i understand why and can see your point. HOwever i think with bit more money and prem status things will be different (got to live in hope) i think we will be quick ruthless and make 5-6 really big signings and times ahead will be exciting.

Yup agreed, like most here a defender, attacking mid and striker would be my priorities.
I wonder if Bielsa agrees!

Berm, with your track record on predictions that post doesn’t fill me with confidence at all.

Lots of reasons why this year is different, don’t think having a reasonable budget will be the problem. Market is odd this year, going to be some bargains and some overpriced, the later could include White unfortunately. But timing of buys will be tough with so much football still happening.

Final factor is Bielsa, not worth buying anyone he really isn’t happy with and not worth buying anyone in January to impact on that season. So White or White replacement aside, I think we are buying for later in the season and post Jan! Really suspect we will start in September with pretty much this side and squad with perhaps a few of the youngsters dropping out. Don’t forget we have, Phillips, Costa, forshaw to add to the final 2 matchday squads. Whatever we think, not sure Bielsa has identified any of the current team as not suitable to start the season in the premiership. White or White replacement to start in Sep and then 4/ 5 others to add competition as the year progresses and they graduate through Bielsa school!

Ben White is a good player and may go on to be a great player. Did Leeds, Bielsa and our system make him the player he currently is? Will he be as good elsewhere? For me as unproven in premier league and without international recognition, he is not in the £40m bracket. He may become a player worth that amount but for me the jury is still out . He has benefitted greatly by coming to play for us under Bielsa and likewise we have had player who has been in many eyes our player of the season.

Sitting here reflecting on the season I never thought we would get to 93 pts. The figure I had in my mind at resumption we would need to be certain was 87pts. Looking at the final points tallies 82 pts would have seen us up and 84pts up as champions. We cannot underestimate how well Bielsa has done and I know he has a great CV but not many knew much about him when he was appointed.

One other thing Messi is calling for Bielsa to go to Barcelona and this is a true sign of how highly he is regarded yet in some quarters of the media in the UK, they still try to discredit him.

i think due to the virus it is impossible to say anyone's value at the moment as the market seems volitile and unpredictable

but i do agree on your comments on ben white. for me his value should be the same as Phillips, both played well in the same team under belisa have had a lot of praise, subject to interest and links to the england team. I would say both are valued at 20 million however some on here have said phillips is worth 40 million at least so i guess by what they have done white would have to be a similar vaule

as for belisa at Barcelona i think he will see the job out at leeds, he may be el loco but he is a noble and decent man and will see the job out, i don't think he is one to jump ship.

1970 You sound surprised that some of the UK media underappreciate Bielsa. Here are 3 reasons why you shouldn't be. 1. He's Argentinean. Um, the Falklands and hand of Mara. 2. Spygate will never be forgotten because it was against "FF's Derby". 3. Most importantly, he's the manager of Leeds United, the most beloved club of England.

Tell you what surprises me is the level of appreciation he has received in the unbiased 😆 UK media.

Oh and Mr Scottish Subtitles Fergie Time, we weren't in the Championship for 16 years. Only 13. The other 3 were in League One. Personally, I hope it's an omen and we see Bielsa manage our club for 16 or 13 years will be fine.

40 million, 20 million? No ones worth that amount. I don’t begrudge anyone making a living but life goes on after football so do like rugby league and play for the love of the game and then do what normal people do and get a job for the remaining 30 years of their life’s.

Oh yeah. Equally good at football and rugby league. Can play at a top level in both sports. The player is going to pick rugby! c'mon Tad.

huge difference between rugby leage and football. the fans and money in it. of course footballers are going to get paid more they bring in a lot of money and are worth it. Players bring in big prize money, big sponsorship and big gate recitpes. Bit like in my industry fringe theatre is min wage hollywood movies is millions because there is money in one and not the other.

Your missing my point cork. All I’m saying is they're all overpaid. Back in the revie days players used to go get ordinary jobs once retired. My old man reckons reaney started a painting a decorating firm up after. Too much money in the game today.

Taddy, lots of jobs are overpaid in relation to the jobs that make a difference to society. Think footballers earning lots of cash is sometimes frowned upon because they often come from working class backgrounds. There is tons of money in top flight football, lots going to agents, owners and others involved in the game. For one I’m glad that those actually producing the football and to a lesser extent coaching it are getting the rewards. In their own way they are heroes to millions and provide a lot of enjoyment and it’s a few market. It was scandalous that in the past, some of the greats made little from the game whilst others were profiting from it.

Players like anything else are worth what someone will pay. I agree it's not fair that some professions get so much more than others but acting is the same but what are you going to do. Boycott the product and its value goes down and wages will drop but until then sky's the limit.

Morning guys, greetings from sunny Spain. Interesting that some of the boys holidaying in Ibiza whilst others in Marbella and the word is they have been told to get home ASAP!

More positive news from here, Castellon, the club where Pablo started in where he and his Dad are still involved has been promoted to La Liga 2 after a 10 year absence! So not a bad year for el Magico! A few years ago the idea was for Pablo to finish his career back at Castellon as long as they were in a suitable league. If they maintain la liga 2, one more year in the premiership might fit quite nicely for him.

One of the subjects on which I always agree with Bermo, Blackpool is brill! Grew up there!

Think the medical team could have advised locations less risky!

The playoffs to La liga in Spain have been put on hold because in the final la liga 2 games of the season, a team with play off hopes had their game against a team fighting against relegation called off. 22 players and staff tested positive! Massive legal outcry as all the other games went ahead! Think the UK game was managed fairly well in the circumstances.

love blackpool my hoilidays as a kid was there and my stag was there as well. With holidays up in the air (or not as the case may be) could well take the kids up to blackpool and let the Mrs ride the big one.

On the subject of Spain, summer was always going to be a challenge for the holiday resorts to balance the need for tourist cash against safety. That said the more Brit areas around Andalucia, Alicante and The islands are not really being hit, it’s the northern coast. Aragon and Cataluna that’s seeing the surge.

So far, more people still dying of cv in UK then Spain although obviously that could change. So far the new s are more centred on younger people through summer parties, discos and seasonal workers. The key will be how much that gets passed into older more vulnerable family!

For me, the reason not to come to Spain now is more that the restrictions make it less fun. Masks virtually all the time even in bars and restaurants and lots of nightlife closed or closing early.

Personally, After my last trip to Elland Road, I returned very ill, finally diagnosed as Chronic Bronchitis, never tested in Feb as I hadn’t been to China! But took me most of lockdown to fully recover! Nevertheless, finally renewed my season ticket when Pablo scored against Swansea and I cried my eyes out.

That moment for me is when I really thought we were going to do it! Last year I was sat in Elland Road watching the 4th last game of the season against Wigan on my birthday! Last year 1 pt from the final 12 this year 12/ 12! Made everything worth it!

Just want the chance to get back to Elland road next season and savour some premiership atmosphere.

Stay safe everyone!
