It's a shame to say it but I believe the fans dreams for lufc are far greater than bates' will ever be, it's a shame because as much as we want to sign new players and grow the club into a team capable of promotion, we can't! We may fill bates' pockets but he carries the cheque book, he will keep taking and the team will never grow when he is around, we are a prem team stuck in the wrong division, we better sit comftably as we won't be leaving the championship any time soon. BATES OUT, MOT

Believable5 Unbelievable4

All you have to do is look at Chelsea when master Bates was in charge - never winning anything, didn't spend a lot on the team, building up the ground, and wallowing in mediocrity until he was bought out - it's the bates way - sound familiar - time to get used to it, we won't spend on players and we won't get to the prem under Bates - just support the team we have got in the division we are in

Agree3 Disagree3

Of course the fans dreams are bigger. We're fans, he's a business man. Last time we had a chairman who shared our dreams it went slightly wrong! I do think as a business man Bates does want the club in the premiership to be fair, easier to sell, easier to fill the ground, more tv money etc. Unlike fans though, he is prepared to wait and not spend the big money to realise it.

Agree2 Disagree1

We're just outside the playoffs, and have started the year well in-spite of the form of some of our players.

Moan if we dont make the playoffs this year - not because we might not.

Get behind the team, leave the politics alone until the Summer now. Let's just focus on being positive and seeing the boys give it their best effort.

Agree1 Disagree0

If you look at chelsea you will see Bates racked up loads of debt and the club was being bailed out constantly by Matthew Harding who was one of those 'investors' that Bates talks about - they were on the verge of a collapse when he sold it to Roman Abramovich

Agree0 Disagree0

Whats chelsea got to do with Leeds? can some please explain to me.

£8 mill bid accepted from Reading for Snodgrass just personal term to agree on in morning. Yet another great loss BATES OUT!

Believable3 Unbelievable8

If ya gunna make something up atleast make it a little realistic, 8 mil lol

Agree4 Disagree1

8m? im not surprised he accepted it, i would have as well!

Agree5 Disagree0

Reading haven't got that sort of money. Just carry on making stuff up

Agree4 Disagree1

Reading's new owners promised 'limited' funds would be available during the January transfer window. I think £8million is a tad more than 'limited'!

Agree4 Disagree1

Leeds value Snodgrass at £5mil so why would they pay £8mil?

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jan 2012 21:33:34
just heard from snodin leeds want to sign a defender on 4 too 6 k a week

Leeds to bid for in-demand Crawley striker Matt tubbs. Leeds united manager Simon Grayson has been watching the inform striker for a while, and had a scout at their recent fa cup clash. The bid is believed to be in the region of 800,000

Believable0 Unbelievable2

Doubt KB would match the wages he gets at Crawley

If we ain't signed anyone by Tuesday afternoon I'm off to book my Birmingham ticket, sit right behind dugout, n shout, grayson, ( why the #### have we not got a right back and a centre back, connollys been axed, obriens vanished, kisbo out for season, Bruce is off to live with posh n becks, even the captains jumped ship and even mk dons managed to sign smudger up.

Believable5 Unbelievable3

You go ahead and do that and look like an idiot, it has been said over and over we will not sign anyone who doesn't add anything to the squad? I am over the moon that my local team has Alan Smith, maybe now they wil shut up about Leeds not being famous any more, but juming up and down because they have got one of our 'has beens' to sign for them....

Agree1 Disagree5

29 Jan 2012 20:51:47
Leeds to sign nobody and us to be mugged off for the 3rd transfer window in a row!

Believable10 Unbelievable5

So Delph is a nobody, Rogers has no chance, even before he's kicked a ball....

idiot!

Agree6 Disagree9

More people agreed than disagreed, and then more people disagreed with your pathetic reply..... So there is only 1 person here sonny jim

Grayson eyes bradley orr move (cheap and thinks he can do the job at championship level) Hmm im not sure? thoughts guys... MOT!

Source- seen it on another rumours site, so cant say its anything but speculation. Just want your thoughts? LUFC

Believable1 Unbelievable3

RB/DCM so versatile and free, sounds like he fits the bill perfectly, is he better than what we have? probably! go for it i say.

Agree2 Disagree0

RB/CB correct? would fill a gap.

if smith had anything to give football wise then newcastle would have used him you would not pay any body 60000 aweek for 12 months if there had something to give newcastle are a very average team

Believable6 Unbelievable0

If he had been on half of the wage hes on he would probably of been given a new contract but as he as messed newcastle about and wants 60,000 pw they want him gone

Agree2 Disagree0

29 Jan 2012 19:10:18
smith signed til end of season with mk dons, on mkdons os

Believable1 Unbelievable2

29 Jan 2012 19:02:19
Mmm,Leeds 0 Birmingham 3,if we play well in defence.then we might sneak a draw at Bristol.roll on march,Southampton,hull,boro,west ham in succession.if we are above10th by then,then who knows {Ed020's Note - loving the optimism.}

Believable2 Unbelievable4

We are continuing our run and getting a 15+ match unbeaten run

Agree2 Disagree3

Here we go again, lets write Leeds off before we even arrive, let alone kick a ball, just like we did against Arsenal...

Why don't you go cross the penines and support the stum - oh, sorry they lost too didn't they....

Maybe Liverpool then, if you can afford the train fare?

Official on sky sports news and BBC. Smith joins mk dons till end of season.
My opinion is smith would walk into this Leeds team with eyes closed. Great signing for Mk dons, good choice by alan as smith knows he will get games and that's all hes ever wanted.true honest pro. And a top man too. Good luck smudger. {Ed020's Note - i dont think many other people will agree with you there}

Believable9 Unbelievable9

I think he intends to get games to get fit and get himself seen again for a move in the summer

Agree7 Disagree3

Yeah smudger will then come back to leeds cos its next season we will push for promotion cos we wont have to pay all the creditors next season it was all planned last season for that

Agree3 Disagree3

Original poster - oh dear, what a load of pap! "Great signing.......good choice" my @rse!

Smith's desperate, no-one else wants him.

Agree4 Disagree3

29 Jan 2012 18:21:57
come midnight tuesday 31st january, leeds will have signed...NOBODY! no one wants to come and play for us at the moment,so i say lets stick with the team we have and get behind them(even if only to the end of the season) and just hope we get a good run together and finish as high as we can!

Believable5 Unbelievable5

Rodgers, Townsend, Delph, Taylor, Cairns hardly nothing is it, and we have 2 days to go. I hate some Leeds fans so pessimistic so negative and probably don't support the team on match days!

Agree1 Disagree0

Midnight? the window shuts at 11pm!

Now that Villa have nothing to play for, give us Lichaj and we'll take Dunne too.

Believable4 Unbelievable2

Dunne you are having a laugh pal hes a liability, did you see his tackle for the pen?hes slower than paddy ffs

Agree3 Disagree4

Dunne is fantastic defender have you ever watched an ireland game lately?? the man would throw himself in front of a train for the team!

Agree0 Disagree1

Dunnes a Donkey you obviously no nothing about football. As for the train comment it might help villa if he did.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jan 2012 17:59:28
If a club came in with 6 mill cash up front for Snodgrass, would you take it?

Gotta say I'd be tempted if I were Papa or SG. That money could do wonders for our club again if it were re-invested correctly.

Believable10 Unbelievable2

I would give him the option to sign a new contract first, if he won't i would bite their hand off.

Agree1 Disagree0

I would take 5mil if it was a cash up front payment and the money was guaranteed to go into the team.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jan 2012 17:34:12
''exciting week for transfers'' -- ''all transfer work to be finished by the weekend'' more empty lies by simon grayson

Believable8 Unbelievable3

Maybe he has finished

Agree6 Disagree0

Or maybe he's as frustrated as you are struggling to get decent players with his pittance of a budget. I really wish nasty, negative people like you would just do one...

Agree3 Disagree5

29 Jan 2012 17:21:05
How about going for Michael Ballack? 35 years old, Leverkusen have just made him available for transfer. Is surely better than Brown!! Would add bite and quality to the midfield. I think Bates has the money for it after all that stashing away. {Ed020's Note - he'd want too much money i reckons.}

Believable4 Unbelievable3

Ed020, you are right but it could be a great gamble. I'd go as high as 30k per week for Ballack. If he stays fit (he has a good record with injuries or should I say good record of avoiding injury) he could put us in the Premiership. How much is that worth? 80 million? {Ed020's Note - he did'nt do brilliantly well at chelsea if i remember, he'd be a injury liability, and for that money i don't think he's worth the gamble}

Agree1 Disagree1

That's the Michael B we should have gone for in midfield!

Agree2 Disagree1

So ppl say we dont want alan smith hes too old and passed it but now ppl are saying lets get ballack ,last time i looked 35 was older than 31

Agree1 Disagree2

Age has nothing to do with being past it, Smith has never been in the same league as Ballack.

Agree3 Disagree0

29 Jan 2012 16:34:06
So, here we are, smith decides to go to a tin pot team , we scrimp and save to try to bring someone in that wont breaik the bank...is it just me or would anyone else on this site walk on burning coals just for the chance to play for us,,..perhaps i am too old but remember the times very well where just to be linked with us would mean the world...

Believable9 Unbelievable2

29 Jan 2012 16:26:53
alan smith is massively past it, anyone that doesnt see that is seriously deluded

Believable9 Unbelievable10

I couldn't agree more!! I live in Gateshead and went to a pre season game at home to Newcastle where Smith played his last game - he was ridiculed for 60 minutes by both Gateshead and Newcastle fans before being substituted and rightly so - he isn't even a shadow of his former self - Conference based Gateshead fans could see it. I for one am extremely grateful to Smith for his performances in the distant past but those times are long gone and so have Smiths legs!!

Agree4 Disagree0

78 games in 5 years Smith has played for Newcastle. You are right he is past it, and thats past the limited ability that he had in the first place.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jan 2012 16:18:55
I'm seriously worried that no new signings will come in! If not we all know the usual phrases will come out:
We have enough quality in that position
I believe these players can bring promotion
The money is there and will be spent in the summer
There is always the emergency loan Market
The deals fell through for various reasons

For some reason, Grayson cannot attract players to come to this club e.g. Wages, seeing us selling players therefore not showing great ambition!

Believable10 Unbelievable1

I think your right, it took all summer to come up with Lonnergan and Brown,LEEDS UTD are no longer an
attraction to the better class of players that may become available, ready for a loanie or two at best.

Agree5 Disagree1

We are not even attracting BIG MONEY men, There looking at clus like Reading " Come on Really" MR Billionaire have you not looked at our history, We got one of the best supported teams in the league, and one of the best n biggest Stadiums so open your eyes Mr Billionaire and get shut of Papa Smurf......MOT

Agree1 Disagree0

29 Jan 2012 16:17:17
Smith has completed his loan to mk dons now,see there website, not sure if he would have done a job for us but at the reported contribution of £2500 per wk he would have been worth a punt....beginning to wonder who we will bring in if anybody now,big rumours about Clingan but i have to say i wasn't overly impressed with him at elland rd when we drew 1.1,as for a centre half looks like southampton have got the obvious one on loan in Danny Collins, really we needed 4 players in,rb,ch,cm and forward(anything happens to beccio or mccormack the back up is awful)...lets hope we get at least 2 of the 4 positions we need...all eyes on here for next 48hrs don't let us down Grayson/Bates(AGAIN)we deserve better

Believable6 Unbelievable0

We have a big game on Tuesday night so in truth we need to sign players in next 36 hours - don't advise we hold our breath if recent transfer windows are anything to go by we will all end up dissapointed

Agree1 Disagree0

29 Jan 2012 16:17:11
alan smith just signed for dons
dont get it .why...
can only assume s.g. gots plans for tomorrow...
im a s.g.fan but very quickly getting fed up cos i pay £35 to freeze my t**s off for 2 hours and there doesnt seem to be any recognition off that.leeds utd is starting to take the piss out off me.

Believable7 Unbelievable3

If we'd signed Smith that WOULD have been taking the pish.

29 Jan 2012 16:04:31

Believable2 Unbelievable1

29 Jan 2012 15:52:39
Smith signed for Mk good riddance! This page might get a little quieter now!

Believable4 Unbelievable5

Good riddance? We got rid of him in 2004. Just the 7 and a half years ago.

Cogratulations you have won the most pathetic and childish post of the week award.smith would be better than let's face it...nothing.shrew leeds

villa haved payed for all there fans travel to arsenal could,nt see ken bates paying for leeds fans he should have given us are money back for barnsley

Believable1 Unbelievable0

29 Jan 2012 14:01:04
keep as many championship clubs in fa cup as possible and cardiff in league cup final because there always take one eye off the league and watch leeds pick up points and get promotion

Believable4 Unbelievable1

29 Jan 2012 13:29:26
2 days left and no new defenders? wtf? were so leaky at the back, delph on loan and an unpoven winger, not good enough to say the fans pay a lot for match tickets and travel expenses. Sure there is a lot of rubbish out there but apparantely we have a little money and to be fair i reckon SG could replace o'dea with 100k, come on ffs.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

I agree, but we should know by now Grayson thinks our defence is good. Everybody else knows the defence is a priority.

Agree4 Disagree0

I think Grayson has decided that its time to keep the same defence together and see if it will eventually gel together as we haven't had the same back 4 together for long periods and changing the defence again could make things worse rather than better .

Agree2 Disagree0

29 Jan 2012 11:00:05
Snodgrass won't be leaving in this window. And expect enar jaager to sign tomorrow. We've got the moves like jaager we've got the moves like jaager. We've got the mooooves moves like jaager!

Believable3 Unbelievable5

You only posted that to get in your crappy pun. Have you thought of applying for a job with The Sun.

Agree4 Disagree0

Snodgrass will leave, the foundations are in place with Townsend and Rogers having been signed unfortunately, it will be a last minute offer too good to refuse!! also Jaager will not sign, he wants to go to Rangers.

Agree2 Disagree2

Jagger off to rangers,at Leeds he knows he won't get no satisfaction, shrew leeds

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jan 2012 10:31:06
Like always, deadline day will finish and grayson will come up with the same excuses of '' we tried to get some players in but they went to other clubs''. Patience is running out with him, he cant pick a consitant squad and he cant sign good young players on long contracts. We need a manager that will ask bates to spend money on the team and stand up for the team instead of grayson that wont stand up to bates! Sorry simon but i think a few more losses and your out of there! MOT!

Believable11 Unbelievable3

Its not just about asking Bates for more money, too many of Grayson's signings have been poor, but who is to say if he had money he would do any better, there is no guarantee! the lack of motivation is the most worrying thing for me. It would have been nice if Grayson could have stayed and built a real dynasty but it just is not going to happen and despite what people say there will be plenty of takers for Grayson's job. We don't need a big name, it just needs someone who can motivate and nurture and organise a good defence, all the attributes which Grayson seems to be lacking, i think the time is approaching for a change but not for Warnock, Di Matteo, Bruce et al. Karl Robinson, Graham Westley, Ian Holloway, Brian McDermott, Dougie Freedman would all feature on my list of possibles

Agree2 Disagree1

So you think we should get someone in just for the sake of it? if cant get better players than we already have then SG is right not to get anyone.

Agree2 Disagree4

29 Jan 2012 10:09:27
Ed, any movement on some new rumours? been very quiet this week been some right rubbish posted on here. {Ed020's Note - theres alot of talk between us all about 2 players coming in on monday, but its a closly guarded secret, as any business is with leeds}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I hope so! we are so short at CH if Bruce goes, another injury and Barn Door will have to change position (which might be no bad thing)

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jan 2012 08:16:17
This is a results based business.
I d be fine with us selling the whole first team and playing the juniors as long as they kept winning.
If we don t buy anyone in this transfer window then that's ok with me. I d rather that happens than add to the increasing pile of deadwood on offer.
There s no point in getting excited about the arrival of another journeyman that another team wants off their books. They then go through the motions playing percentage football for the next 2 years, picking up in a week what most of us earn in 6 months even when they re injured or deemed so rubbish that they can t even make the bench.
What a waste of money. If we re going to spend, buy someone young and keen. At least we make money on them when Captain Birdseye realizes they don t like his fishy fingers any more.
Or even better, buy some new bibs and cones for those academy boys. That's where the future lies. Ajax and Barcelona did ok by investing in youth.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

28 Jan 2012 21:59:21
Just heard that paynter is going to make a surprise return to former club Swindon has he believes his "Leeds united career is over" personally think this would be great news for the club because he's about the same standard as Rachubka what you hear Ed? {Ed013's Note - Great News}

Believable5 Unbelievable0

There's that rumour and theres him doing a swap deal with Clingan from Coventry, don't think he'd want to drop down two leagues though

Agree0 Disagree1

I thought Burnley might av been tempted to take a chance on billy,as theyve got Charlie Austin, and together they we`re awesome

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jan 2012 22:35:31
Is there a database all clubs have access to in terms of people 'transfer listed'? Is there an actual list with asking prices etc or is it a figure of speech? Ed? {Ed001's Note - there is a list for those formally transfer listed, it used to be on the old PFA website, givemefootball, but it has been removed now. I expect it will be added to the new PFA website when it is up and running. I hope so anyway, it was never fully up to date, but it did give an idea of the free agents and transfer listed players. The clubs themselves do get a regularly updated list though.}

28 Jan 2012 23:38:11
I see bates blamed the fans for no investors coming forward, now I see grayson is blaming the fans for his players form at home, how about him building a team that will give us something to sing about,at the moment its very difficult to even turn up never mind create an atmosphere, but turn up we do unlike some of his players recently.Passion you want the fans to show passion tell your players to show some its not just a one way street simon, and stop blaming us great fans for everything.

Believable7 Unbelievable1

I partly agree with you but I know what he is saying. The atmosphere inside Elland Road at the moment isn't good - but I fear without 2 or 3 decent signings by Tuesday night it could be even worse for the Birmingham game.

Agree3 Disagree0

Jolly well said they are both past there best leeds in my humble opinion, have to agree we'll hear all the usua l post deadline day spiel too, they must think us dumb, why is all the dead wood still st leeds if are so strapped free up the wages! im sure l1 teams would take them!

Agree2 Disagree0

I dont know if we will sign anyone but i do know i will be at every game getting behind the lads.how many times have this team come back from the dead to gain points this year, the team may not be the best in the league but i belive they play for the fans inspired by grayson,i know we have had some bad games but so has everyone else, get behind simon and the lads and just maybe we will finish 1 place higher than last year.
