The difference today was that Sutton had the bolloks to go for a win. Leeds forgot to put a team out.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

30 Jan 2017 09:27:27
And if you are going to put a team like that out fans should know in advance. Its not like Sutton would have any advantage knowing, they only got 11 players anyway. Fans paid good money to travel when they could have paid £3 to watch a U23 game.

Agree1 Disagree0

30 Jan 2017 09:47:59
did fans not know though, i predicted the team out apart from whitehouse who i never even heard of other than that it was the team i picked. I think leeds fans went knowing they would see the kids beat the non leaguers and it was a chance all took. cup upsets happen you go in support just in case.

if he put out a proper team and picked up an injury we would of all moaned if they do reimburse the fans i want my money back every time i go to er it costs at least a monkey and i want that back for two Huddersfield defeats especially the 5-1 lost, in fact they also owe me for the counselling i had to have afterwards as well.

Agree0 Disagree2

30 Jan 2017 14:42:01
I think fans went there to see a competitive match. It was obvious after 10 mins we were not going to see one as no one seemed to have a plan, what's worse no one seemed bothered. You can't expect to field a team of kids with no onfield guidance. Cooper marshalling back four, joke,

Poor Matt Grimes his football career is over i'm afraid to say.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

30 Jan 2017 08:52:50
He was not the only player who was dire, I hope Gary Monk now has a better picture of who needs to go . If we get promoted or build for a real challenge next year most of the team that played yesterday are not good enough on passing the ball alone. And I have to say the cat was main cause of goal and looked dire all game.

Hi guys anyone know when the Ipswich away tickets go on sale

Believable1 Unbelievable0

30 Jan 2017 16:18:38
Don't know, but I do know that if I want to buy one from Ips**h ticket office they will happily sell me a ticket . Only that would mean I would have to grow an extra finger on each hand and beat my head against a wall until dolt.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jan 2017 21:22:54
Is monk sure about his midfield choices. I'm sorry you can't tell me grimes and Phillips are better than Dave and Murphy. They lost a midfield battle to non league players. What hope the championship. Just shows we are a couple of injuries away from a collapse. Nothing behind our best 11.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

{Ed025's Note - look at the bigger picture TSL, the FA cup is a distraction, the main aim for a club of leeds stature is to get back where they belong which is top flight football, prioritize mate the FA cup is a pipe dream..

30 Jan 2017 00:03:08
For the true and oh so loyal Leeds supporters the issue here is whomever pulls on the white shirt of Leeds United you represent first and foremost us the supporters whose loyalty never wanes and whose financial support over the most difficult of times enables you all to have the honour (we would give all sorts of body parts for) to play for The Leeds United.

That was an abject display and so as those players wore the shirt they represented the Company of Leeds United. Now of course we have two critical games coming up this week and we all know and appreciate the majority of the players who have performed heroically this year were not out there. But our loyal fans were, and were embarrassed and humiliated by what they witnessed.

And here us the first time I've struggled with Monkey all season, not for the selection I get it we all do! But the PR spiel afterwards of Monkey taking responsibility doesn't wash how over 90 minutes, and over a half time break and substitutes at his disposal Monkey, Pep and Beats didn't sort it, didn't demand a performance didn't haul someone off for not even trying.

It's great to look calm and stoic on the sidelines it's great to come out and say don't blame the lads as manager all the blame lies with me. Leeds Fans are nobody's fools we've had too long of no investment and consequently very limited Teams but now we have the best management team we have had for many a year.

And today they never turned up, no excuses we will almost certainly lose again against full time professional teams just make sure those players wearing our shirts are either beaten by the better team, or lost but died on their feet trying to win. Reimburse The Supporters !

30 Jan 2017 08:55:12
slough I totally agree, however there where a few ex -players and never made it's. But that aside we were dire .

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jan 2017 09:39:22
Spot on Class. Why did he not make changes at half time. Why not include o Kane in squad who needs a bit of playing time after injury. That should have been an easy game to win and maybe get a payday in next round then put your kids out for a taste of the big time. Losing to Sutton will have done none of them any good. They went on the pitch with no plan by the looks of things. FA cup is a distraction but effort is what we pay to see, none given by anyone in that match. Would rather stay in play offs but its not losing its how you lose.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jan 2017 20:59:53
Really not fussed about the FA cup if I were the boss I'd have also played a weakened side. We have bigger fish to fry this season we just need to make it count now by getting back to business on Wed.

One player from todays game getting loads of stick on twitter is Matt Grimes and he bloody deserves it. What Monk sees in this kid is beyond me he struggled against a team from the national league south and after this performance he better get used to that league because that's where he will end up.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

29 Jan 2017 21:20:22
I think you're being a bit unfair Hardy - the standard in the National League South isn't that bad.

29 Jan 2017 21:33:26
1-11 were dreadful and that includes academy players. I wonder if Grimes would get as much stick if he was a Redfearn player?

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jan 2017 21:39:34
I know alftupper but Grimes is probably getting more in a week than half the Sutton squad he needs to grip he's an ex England u21 for god sake.

30 Jan 2017 09:43:16
They all played bad because no leaders on pitch, if Barts had partnered Cooper and Bridcutt or o kane in midfield we would have won . Two players.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jan 2017 20:26:45
Had time to process the loss today and in a way it maybe a good thing for us as we can now concentrate on getting promotion to the premiership. Just wish our owners had half the commitment that Paul Doswell Sutton's manager had didn't know this until today but he paid for the 3G pitch and doesn't get a wage. What a guy and good luck to him and Sutton he deserver's this win for commitment like that.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

29 Jan 2017 20:02:53
Well done Sutton, fully deserved. Angered and embarrassed by the performance and team selection today, completely disrespectful to Sutton and the FA Cup. I agree with resting Wood, Pablo, Pontus and Bartley, but there's no excuse for the team put out today. We cost ourselves a potential money spinning tie at ER with a full house or a decent cup run. No leaders in the team, no creativity in midfield, constant backwards and sideways passing. You can't blame it on inexperience either, as Silvestri, Coyle, Doukara, Dallas, Ant, Grimes, Cooper, Phillips have played regularly for the first team.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

29 Jan 2017 23:39:29
I do ahree but so many teams have done it to the point it must make sense, how many champ and prem teams actually put a proper side out? Our team should of won but if we win on saturday i will soon get over it. the players did let themselves and the club and the fans down but onwards and upwards. after all it is only the cup not like it is the league. i think monk showed his feelings and prorities like so many other managers. the landscape of english football and the importance of the cup is changing and i think that makes it a little more exciting if nothing else.

Look at the other side of the coin and this is no excuse. I know a good run brings in extra cash but what's the point if Ebenezer celinio isn't going to spend it ( unless it's on a vat free yacht) but a good run also brings in possible injuries in positions we are weak with back up and could effect our chances of play off places. Also it gives us very valuable rest time so once we get over the defeat and yes every defeat hurts it could end being a blessing in disguise. Hopefully it will fire us up to put things right in the next game too. MOT

For clubs to treat the FA cup with distain is to treat the fans with distain. Sadly the lure of the premier league money means more than anything. Imagine if we'd managed to get to the semi final (or further) . They're the days out at Wembley that fans will remember when they're old and grey.
Let's hope at the end of the season that today's debacle will be just a distant memory.😟

Believable3 Unbelievable0

29 Jan 2017 19:02:44
PLAy offs is a more likely outcome for Wembley this season I think.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jan 2017 19:15:30
I see ya point Danum but personally I enjoy watching fringe players on pitch. Was at Norwich cup game and it was good to see these fringe players perform. As for FA Cup we ain't going to win it so who cares. Roll on promotion boys!

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jan 2017 23:46:12
I have to disagree, although i make you right. the cup is not worth anything now days. it should be about passion and glory and to people of a certain generation the cup has a passion about it (and rightly so) however to my generation and downwards it means very little. A day at wembley is not something to remember when they are old and grey it is a distraction. Look at wigan cup win and now a poor team in poor league. Sadly it is all about league I would have one chance of playoffs over three f a cup wins as it holds little relevance compared to league. leauge brings money better players and more sustainable glory week in week out. i think it is wrong for teams to treat cup with distain and no worth but they do why because sadly it has lost its worth. Monk is no fool he played a poor team that might lose because he didn't care if they lose. This is wrong but i understand why it is right if that makes sense.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jan 2017 08:09:24
I think you picked the wrong example there BW. I'm sure if you ask even the youngest Wigan fan who was at Wembley that day, I bet they wouldn't swap winning the cup final for anything.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jan 2017 09:35:30
do you not think if you said to any wigan fan, ok you don't win the cup but are still in prem they would not take it. also the team you have right now are prem quality and not pony? i think they would all take that.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jan 2017 11:34:46
I wish we had a way of polling Wigan fans because I've got a feeling you may be wrong BW. Don't forget they are a very small club who were a none league team for most of my young life. I don't think they would trade the cup win to be back in the Premier league. After all they will never win the PL will They?

Been travelling so seen only the score. Not seen the game or a report but did see the team. Was that Monky sticking 2 fingers up at MC/ AR. If it was, then I fear this may end in tears

Believable1 Unbelievable0

29 Jan 2017 19:47:24
I have to agree speedy. Monks comments after the game about incoming transfers don't sit too well. Dark clouds on the horizon? I hope not.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jan 2017 23:48:03
it was a poor performance, but i think it was more monky playing a team that didn't matter as the cup don't matter, makay, whitehouse, wilks, grimes. this i think is a marker to the importance of the cup and the distraction games might have on a thin squad. this said the team should of played better and still won but i doubt monk will lose any sleep over us being out of the cup.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jan 2017 17:35:34
Note to MC/AR a good bit of pr would be a free home ticket for every away supporter who went to the game. That was not Leeds out there today.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

29 Jan 2017 23:48:41
it was monk who picked the team. monk and starting 11 should be refunding fans not mc/ar.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jan 2017 17:30:49
Not a total disaster but,,, A few players there showed that given the chance they are not up to scratch for a team chasing promotion. It is difficult to criticise the kids who played, in a lower league scrappy cup game. It does however show that they are maybe not quite ready to burst onto the scene ala Viera. The poor showing seemed to drag each player down to a meagre performance so without 6 or 7 substitutions or a lightning bolt energising the whole team it was just an off day to forget. There was no player out there who covered himself in glory so the only crumb of comfort is that we have now only one goal to aim for, with no distractions.
By the way BT Sport - just glue a socktail umbrella over the lens. I thought I had tears in my eyes until I got a tissue; and it was still blurry?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

29 Jan 2017 17:27:31
Just throw this idea out. If we sign a prem player on loan who's on £60k per week, call it 20 weeks until the end of the season then that's a £1.2m gamble that I'd be willing to take to fire us into the prem. If MC & AR are serious about taking us into the prem then put Mowatt's transfer fee towards it and you're only spending £600-800k for a price of £100m+. Discuss?

None of the players covered themselves with glory this afternoon. However, irrespective of the sending off, Cooper showed just how poor he is. I've said so many times when he plays we rarely, if ever, keep a clean sheet. Albeit this time it was a calamity elsewhere. Monk, if he didn't know already, will have discovered that after the first 15 players we are poor. I do not understand why Grimes is still at the club unless its a contract issue. Still not concerned about Mowatt's departure provided we get better players in before Tuesday. Antosnson never had a look in but then again no mid field to speak of means no chances created. At another level you can understand why Monk didn't want to play his better players - Two very heavy fouls on Roofe could have seen him injured and out for weeks, one sending off and a suspension and yellow cards adding to the tally. Given our lack of depth suspensions are difficult to deal with.

Agree1 Disagree0

29 Jan 2017 16:44:17
Well that was not the best. don't think even the most optimistic fan could see any positives there, well maybe that it wasn't two! Think it highlights that if we go up we don't stand a chance of staying up unless we have the worlds biggest spending spree! we certainly need two new centre banks, another striker or two, a new second string midfield. in fact we need a whole new second team!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

29 Jan 2017 16:43:37
Leeds United making history for all the wrong reasons again, give me Mowatt over Grimes and Phillips anyday, Cooper another liability, hopefully most of these players won't been seen near first team again we need players in by Tuesday other wise our lack of quality in depth will probably cost us a play off place.

Those that clamour for Silvestre to start in league games, watch today's game. Couple of good saves them totally bottles it and gives away the penalty. This is why he will be never good enough. Not blaming him for today's result as entire team was awful. Travelling fans deserve an apology for a weaken starting eleven and an overall gutless display.

Well ! Less said the better, I am sure if the league results justify this line up it will ease the pain of this defeat. However, nobody can justify the lack of fight and guts shown by the Leeds invitation XI today. Young Malik showed more character through his availability than the rest of the trialists put together.

As others as already stated, very few players showing the necessary skill or fight to make the chasm to the first team, which in a perverse way is a meagre plus! Sorry for the traveling supporters, and bt your coverage was as good as our team, buy a chamois leather for the camera. Window now more important than I had realised.

Always tricky to throw so many youngsters into a team at the same time for a high profile game. I don't blame Monk for doing so and, it's a bit of a cliche, we can truly concentrate on the league now. I'm not overly fussed about being knocked out, slightly fussed at the performance though. Credit to Sutton.

Sorry lads and some really bad choices from Monk. Cops just back from injury and put in the hot seat together with McKay. In my view bad choice. Coyle/Denton as expected. Kalvin/Grimes, really Monk? have been out of playing for a long time. What to expect. The rest Douk/Ante and Dallas/Whitehouse also what to expect and co-keeper in goal. Toss a coin and hope for luck. Todays loss a on the Monk´s shoulders. Better to play with all the U-23 team. At least they had some playing together. So sad and a game to had easily have been won by our second team. Better to play at least 6 or 7 benchplayers. Wiliks/Roofe ok but why put Sacko in. Not a normal traiing for weeks. The game ment to be lost from the start according to Monk.

Saw a similar post about Taylor, but I'd just like to give my opinion. I highly rate the player, as do many other people I know who aren't Leeds fans, lower end premier league supporters say that they would love a full back who is hungry and athletic like him. But is he really injured?

I appreciate that monk wants to keep a lid on things and give nothing away to the press, but I thought berardi had another solid game at LB on Wednesday and I feel like after the first game or two of adjustment, not seeing Taylor in the team has had no effect on the teams performance, it has allowed the LW to attack more, and has brought more solidity in Berardi personally. Yes he's a very talented young player, but I think we may regret not taking £7m for him while we could. Who knows?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

29 Jan 2017 10:48:20
He is a talented young lad but if he goes will be replaced. As you say Berardi doing okay there, Denton imo will be as good as Taylor but its a bit too soon for him yet. We also have a young one called Pearce who looks the part. I reckon if a player wants to go let him go and get as much as you can for him.

No good having anyone who does not want to be here. If we had sold him for 7mill we could have got decent one in for 3mill and have a bit of money left for this window. I know he has been doing a good job but hard to say if we would have dropped any more points if he had gone.
