Sounds like this doukara had a good 45 mins. Did anyone go to the game that can give us an unbiased view on performances?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He had a really lively game.Austin and murphy looked good in the middle.Bianchi and byram teamed up well.Only down side for me was Wootton who looked a bit lost most of the time, Pearce seemed to be doing more than his fair share

I don't think we will have a carp season. I do think we will continue to leak silly goals unless we sort the centre of defence but Byram, Doukara and Bianchi are already showing signs of exciting attacking play which will only be enhanced with the potential additions of Viviani and Benidicic so I for one am looking forward to the roller coaster ride.

I've been perhaps overly influenced by Brazil 2014, however with the players currently at hockawho's disposal I think a 3-4-1-2 or 3-4-3 winger formation could be worth a go.

Remember, BMcD's answer to our lack of out and out wingers was to employ the 3-5-2, which up until Christmas, before Kebe and Stewart arrived, was working very well (top 6 before Xmas I think?)

Silvestri appears to be at the top of the pecking order, I hope he proves the rumours right about his potential.

I would use Byram in the right wing back role, White on the left, and perhaps Warnock and Berardi as cover for them (rotate as needed)

Pearce (surely named captain) Wooton and Lees as a back 3. I really respect Pearce and Lees for the work they put in, but based on last season, an extra body to clean up may be wise. Especially if Byram et al. are bombing forward.

Central midfield is surely our most well stocked position. I would love to see the likes of Mowatt, Dawson and Cook being given chances, Murohy and Austin are probably first choice for now.

Up front, Smith and Doukora could form a potent partnership, but only if smith gets the aerial supply he needs to be at his best.

Not a fan of Morrison tbh, but if he wants to play, he should be given another chance IMO.

What we are really missing is a number 10, a creative, attack minded player with a good eye.

I hope MC can pull the strings required.

Any suggestions or thoughts re the above?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I like your positivity and it's nice to see, but a Lees/Pearce/Wooton combination could surely only end one way.

Also I'm not sure a Doukara/Smith partnership has the technical skills to be potent enough.

Completely agree with your number 10 idea.

Agree0 Disagree0

One problem with this is that wootton Pearce and lees all playing means if one gets injured, were a bit stuffed

Agree0 Disagree0

Zan Benedicic would be our attacking Mid

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes, quite right re the centre backs. I haven't seen Kilock play, but his name has been about the YEP this pre season. Did he travel with the squad to Italy?

With Zakiucas out, another one in would make sense even if the formation only needs 2 CBs.

Not heard of benedicic - but then again, hadn't heard of our other signings either, bar Taylor. Reliable source, or rumour mill?

If we do carry on with 4 at the back, I'd like to see young Charlie Taylor have a go. Warnock doesn't do it for me (heard he was listed anyway) and white (injury allowing) could play in front of him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Just seen the benedicic article on yep. Hope this viviani deal is wrapped up soon!

Is it me being a fatalistic at the start of the season again or are just signing cheap low rent Footballer?
I have gone from the all too familiar empty hollow feeling and embarrassment of precisely cock all happening in the transfer window. To us being linked with every International Italian operating below the top flight.

I would suggest that the current crop of signings seem to lack of any Genuine quality with at best dubious claims to Serie A clubs (most seemingly never having never made the 1st team)

Where are the replacements for a Striker a Winger the Creative midfielder and plus a settled centre Back pairing?

5/6 or even 7 new players still adds up to a big pile of rubbish the if their levels are below what we have.!

Has Viviani or Benedic signed altho the latter again hasn't any proven track record ( Our own academy lads probably better placed)

Are we going to be a disjointed unsettled side with no out and out goal scorers and a manager out of his depth? I can't escape this horrible feeling we might be!

Hope there is more to come and we do sign some recognised proven footballers

Tell me I am wrong and its all going to be alrite!! #MOT

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I have my concerns about the quality of the signings made however just because they are not household names in this country doesn't mean they are poor. My concern is in regards to the lack of leadership and authority on the pitch. If we sign Viviani and the player from AC they could be very exciting players however you need a blend of experience to go with the youth. The likes of Austin, Norris, Tonge are not good enough for the first team.

Agree0 Disagree0

GRIMES
I agree the names are not household and whatever people say on ere they HAVE NOT watched these guys on a regular basis.
All I can say is MC/Salerno scouted & picked youth at Calgari and found some gems, fingers crossed ;)

If Phil Hay is correct and Viviani has joined then its yet more evidence of how shrewd MC is and how he refuses to take any muck from players or agents. He was clearly calling the bluff on Friday when he said the deal was off and by demonstrating he was willing to walk away he has got his man.

Signing a player as promising as Viviani could be the catalyst for other players who might have had doubts about our direction to join as well and it appears that MC's plan is gradually unfolding - build from the back and strengthen the team from there with players who want to play for Leeds rather than just coming for the money. MC is no fool and knows exactly what he is doing.

I think these next couple of weeks could be the most exciting yet as we apply the finishing touches to the squad and as long as we give the boys a bit of time to gel I fully expect us to be in the mix toward the end of the season.

Been saying a number of times on here, he is exactly what we need, he was mom both games against us and would provide the quality of cross for Smith to thrive on. Free transfer with I would imagine wages we could afford please go and try and get him.

If we get agard Murray and viviani I would be well chuffed only other position we need then is a quick centre back to play alongside Pearce. Anyone feel that the 3 mentioned plus a decent CB would have us ready for the season? Think it would be a strong team then.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Nearly you forgot we have no width

Agree0 Disagree0

Definitely. things seem to be falling in to place now and the Viviani deal may well lead to a few more signings who have been waiting to get a measure of our ambition. Another 4 players to come yet I reckon.

Mornin' Eds, now, brace yerselves, Leeds are playing tonight, unless we win 10-0 the wailing an gnashing of teeth will be heard for miles, with more invitations to join division 1 than you can shake a stick at. I wonder, just wonder, having signed Vivianni, Agard apparently on the way plus a couple more, if we, God Forbid, get some results, the doom may lift? Doubt it lol. MOT to the premiership

How about making a move for Carlos Cuellar? Blackburn are interested. He is a free agent would not cost much in waged and has to be better than Lees and Wooton.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Totally agree, seen some players go to some smaller clubs than us that I reckon would do a job for us, Jobi McAnuff just signed for Orient? Watched him at Reading and thought he was a decent player
