My point after this weekends events is, that the crowd behaviour at Chelsea, and at the Mersey derby was as bad as what happened at Hillsborough.
Are these Chelsea persons going to get named and punished for throwing coins/bottles etc at the Mancs?
Probably not......double standards. {Ed013's Note - No one assaulted a player though did they, things are bad at most matches, but what he did to Kirkland was out of order and cannot be stuck up for}

Believable10 Unbelievable1

The Chelsea fans attacked one of their stewards and threw him over the barrier so just as bad

Agree5 Disagree1

Original poster her.....you are right ed and I dont condone what happened at Hillborough( see my previous post), my point is the reaction to this weekends events as opposed to the complete over the top reaction to Leeds fans at Hillsborough. Where is the consistantcy? {Ed013's Note - I agree that there is none, the steward thing was bad, but for a so called fan to come on the pitch and attack a player is wrong}

Agree5 Disagree0

Carlise fans attacked leeds players a few seasons ago and huddersfield fans attack alan smith but none of these other incidents got the publicity that the lad who attacked kirkland got.... i think that assaulting a player is disgusting behaviour but i also think its out of order that cause we are leeds utd its made alot bigger deal {Ed013's Note - Yeah your right mate, but I cant allow excuses to be made for the idiot that hit Kirkland. All cases should be dealt with the same. Did the Smith incident get washed under the carpet?}

Agree0 Disagree0

Does that make it less of a crime it being just a steward. There human just like Kirkland, just on far less money. Bothe things are identical, someone getting assaulted at a game.
mot4life {Ed013's Note - No, both are out of order, but to enter the field of play is wrong. Steward, player or fan, its all out of order}

Agree0 Disagree0

It isnt just as bad because our fans assaulted lots of stewards as well as kirkland i was there and saw them all punching the stewards that was trying to block them. You can't defend the indefendable, and if people come on this site and see it they will think we condone it. No wonder we have a bad name...

Agree0 Disagree0

No, my point was that bothe are the same crime and should be delt with the same. People who do these things under the name of any club. Should be banished for life. Would it be any less a crime if Kirkland was stood outside the ground, that is my point. Not that i'm all for people doin stunts like that under are great clubs name.
BARMY ARMY!!
mot4life {Ed013's Note - If he was stood outside the ground he wouldn't have had the sky cameras on him and may have got away with it!}

Come on Warnock sort out our S**t form.

Believable6 Unbelievable3

Typical 1st defeat in 8 games and another fan all doom and gloom. get behind the team pal and show your support. {Ed013's Note - The doom and gloom is to do with the poor performances, but your right, 1 defeat and its the end of the world. I will take playing bad and getting results. Just think what would happen if we were any good!}

I get a feeling there is a big investor behind this gfh deal,I don't think they could afford this on there own,I know Ben Jacobs information may not be 100%,but he knows more than most,and he said we would be pleasantly surprised when asked if he thought they had the funds,that gave me the feeling there is some wealthy sheikh behind this deal,just a thought but sheikh mohammed is a Leeds fan,and his son twittered David haigh the other day wishing them happy holidays,so they must be in contact in some capacity,just a thought.

Believable10 Unbelievable2

By no means the daftest rumour on the takeover, i am of a similar mind.

sugar daddies are a thing of the past, the losses the clubs that have them make are phenomenal and financial fair play is coming in soon. look how the massive spending has disappeared from Man City this year, with them investing in youth facilities instead, and Chelsea only spending prize money and revenue from not renewing contracts. point being, the GFH takeover will be built on a similar strategy to Bates, with a small transfer budget for January only. just accept this fact now, and don't expect any miracles.

Believable2 Unbelievable8

You like me and the rest of the forum dont know anything about what GFH will or wont spend come january and that is a F.A.C.T

Agree7 Disagree1

Have you stopped to think that Man City and Chelsea have already bought quality squads and have no need to spend big.
1) Man City have enough players to fill 3 first teams when they are all fit so they don't need to spend big because they have quality in depth
2) Chelsea have done the same + if you remember back to last season a certain Fernando Torres and David Luiz were signed for a lot more than cup and revenue money.
3) We are just starting out - they are already established, theres a big difference
4) GFH capital look like opportunists, I think they will get the club up, establish it and sell it (about 3-5 year stay at the most)- Its likely they will invest about 5-10 mill as they know they can treble the value of the club and get the revenue from next year. 10 mill would be a small drop in the ocean.

Agree6 Disagree0

True, Torres was personally funded from Abramovic's fortune because he wanted him, not the manager. hence Ancelotti was sacked. the rest were all by prize money and revenue, and losing big earners like Anelka and Drogba. City missed out on all their targets like Van Persie and Hazard due to a cut back in spending. I do agree GFH will sell us on after establishing in the premiership, which is another reason why dreaming of sugar daddies at this stage is pointless.

Agree2 Disagree1

Pretty sure Eden Hazard signed for Chelsea...

We can't win them all! We've just dropped a few points! Lots of good teams In this league! All that's true but we have been lucky in all but one game. Stop accepting the crap and saying warnock is king. he has spent a fair bit if money on getting the mostly crap players he wanted just so he can hoof it up field. He has bought the wrong players. We needed before the season a d still do, pace and creAtivity. We can't play good football. We can't pass the bAll around and to be honest our strikers are average on a good day. Warnick chose pretty much to change the whole team when buying one or three good ones pre season and a couple more in January. It us warlocks fault for picking this team to play this non football way. The last time we got promoted to the first division look at the midfield, wingers flying full backs and proper strikers we had. Wouldn't it be great to see Leeds run at players and cause havoc in this league. As they should be.

Believable5 Unbelievable12

I have always been a Warnock fan but this season doesn't seem any better than last. He said after one particular game when he first came here that we won't see a Leeds team play like that again. I am sorry but the last 2 home games have been appalling and just as bad as last year! The last 3 games have been against teams at the bottom of the league and we have mustered a grand total of 2 points from 9! come on Warnock- lets see some fight from the team since this is what we have always expected in the past from your teams!

Agree6 Disagree0

Fact is, we just are never able to raise our game against the "expect to wins" . Hs been s for some considerable time at home. Maybe rowd expectation is applying pressure that cant be handled.

Agree1 Disagree0

Good teams dont bow to crowd pressure thye go out and collect three points. Either Wranock nt capable of getting the best out of them or thye are not good enough. Problem for NW is that it is now his players so he is he only one to blame.

Agree4 Disagree2

Completely disagree. last season and past few seasons weve been turned over convincingly in games, (notts forest, blackpool, PNE) we look harder to beat this season and ok the last performances have been bad but we went 8 games unbeaten. stop getting on NW back and support the team. perhaps the negative atmosphere from the stand at ER doesnt help the players. MOT!!!

Agree1 Disagree1

Wish we didnt have so many f*****k whingers supporting our great club, some of the bs you come out with makes me cringe, not the type of followers we need

Simple question. Why do people want Cameron jerome? He is honestly 1 of the worst players I've ever seen. All sped cannot finish to save his live. Look at his goal record it's appauling.

Believable7 Unbelievable7

i think its time we start looking at ourselves and stop bashing warnock and his players. the atmosphere inside elland road this season has been shocking other than games against wolves, forest and blackburn and they are the games where we played well at home and picked up 7 points out of 9 against 3 good teams. instead of all you lot moaning on here why dont you get behind the team and make it an intimidating place for other teams to visit ER. the only time the fans make any noise at ER is when one of the plaayers makes a mistake, and thats the loudest noise to be heard at ER the last few games. stop bashing warnock and the players and get behind the team!!!

Believable14 Unbelievable9

Very hard to generate an atmosphere when the team performs like they have in the last 2 games.

Agree8 Disagree3

I think you'll find the team need to perform to get the crowd going mate, do you even go to games.

Agree7 Disagree2

Home and away season ticket holder pal. im talking about the fans getting behinf the team and encouraging them to play well everyone knows we havent got the greatest squad but the fans have got to get behind the team like we did against forest and wolves rather than produce an atmosphere like the games against hull charlton birmingham. seems like the team thrive on the atmosphere so get behind them and stop moaning!!

Agree2 Disagree5

They pull on the famous white shirt and dont give 100% because the crowd are quiet ?. you pay 31 quid for a ticket and have to work to get the players who are getting paid motivated ? no wonder elland road is half empty every home game

Agree4 Disagree0

But he's a season ticket holder, he knows best.....yawn

Well said OP, to many whingers follow our great club, vocal support works wonders, anyone knows that

Haigh is not a Leeds fan. He started following, re/tweeting stuff about Leeds as soon as the takeover talk started. Look further down his twitter past July. Nothing even about football. Just thought i'd point this out.

Believable2 Unbelievable16

That means nothing at all and even if he wasn't a Leeds fan would we really care? As long as they take care of the club and give the manager the financial backing he needs I am happy.

Agree6 Disagree0

You don't have to tweet about a team you support to prove it.

He is a Leeds fan

As you know ed I don't often post but I got a gut feeling on this one haigh is in Monaco today to finalise the deal he's due in London tomorrow to hand the papers to the lawyers n I believe he will be leeds chairman by the weekend lets hope he finances a couple of signings cos we need them

Believable8 Unbelievable2

seriously need abit of pace up front. teams know that becchio and diouf are not going to run in behind and are therefore squeezing us high up the pitch to play the long ball which becchio is not winning hence why we are finding ourselves under pressure during most games. we need someone whose going to run into the channels allowing someone like norris to break from midfield, someone who will also turn the defence and get them running towards their own goal which will create more space in midfield and allow the likes of tonge and diouf to get their foot on the ball and knock it about abit. atm we are just getting squeezed up and the ball is constantly coming back.

David Haigh has tweeted this morning -

"Morning everyone from Monoco"

Hmmm who lives in this French tax haven that he could be possibly visiting. We all know it's a power trip with Bates, so to have them come to him, I would hope its the end game, of trading signatures. (You can but hope).

Have the leeds fans lost the respect of the players? The vile and unsavoury chanting at
away games. The pitch invasion at
hillsborough of all places. We might have a great set of fans in terms of numbers but we can be a very unpleasant bunch at times. Varney was clearly unhappy with the supporters at Sheffield. Some of the chanting at the away games is unpleasant. If football is supposed to be a family entertainment the chanting is not something you would want children to hear. The form has been ipping over afew weeks it took a nose dive after the
hillsborough game. Is it just a coincidence?

Believable14 Unbelievable13

Thanks for the insight, nice to hear from a Wednesday fan. I'd go back to your own site. Varney will be luck to pull on our famous white shirt again, not because he didn't clap, but because he's a below average footballer. Perhaps he could sign for you in January? As a fee all we ask us that DJ resigns over his comments.

Agree11 Disagree11

We don't want a cardboard cut out stadium like yours - go back to your humdrum tumbleweed team

Agree4 Disagree5

The LEEDS fans have not lost their respect what so ever chanting about 2 innocent fans who died in Turkey is as you say "unsavory" That fan was an person but he does not represent the Leeds fans at all and all of the fans want him to reciebe the biggest punishment possible. Every single team's fans sing contrioversial songs but Dave Jones was just angry at that fan so he grouped all the fans together

Agree4 Disagree1

Leeds through & through but have to agree with the first post about our not so nice chanting all I want is to support Leeds have a bit of banter with the away fans and return home win loose or draw then talk about the match not about the people who attach themselves to this club. agree with varney not to clap the fans after the Sheffield match I don't want to be associated with them and would hoped the rest of the players didnt too

Agree8 Disagree2

I agree with the 'Wednesday fan' (who's probably actually a Leeds fan). The majority of us are true supporters of our club. But you always hear the bad stuff more than the harmless coming from the crowd. If great support inspires a team then it also works the other way. Genuinely disgusting behaviour must eventually demoralise the players. It would me. We should make whoever is wearing the shirt proud and motivated to win for us. Not embarrassed and ashamed.

Agree8 Disagree2

First poster here again. Why is it that if anyone says anything at all that might be critical of leeds do you have to be
regarded another teams supporter? I was born and bred in Leeds and saw my first game when John Charles was playing. Been a season ticket holder since I stopped playing in local football and coaching Juniors (Daid Batty and Brian Deane until they were 16). I like the banter with rival supporters but it has to stop short of the violent and obscene. Away games tend to be the most difficult. What some of our fans chant about rival fans, managers, players and owners is not for the faint hearted, Delia Smith for example comes in for particularly unpleasant chanting. I am not a prude but there should be a line. I think it can sometimes get through to the players who might be embarrassed, ashamed and angry because of the association particularly if their wives, children or relatives are present at the games.

Agree7 Disagree0

If you want `nice` chanting`,go f*****g support norwich,or wigan or some other souless club...we...are..leeds,and why shouldnt varney applaud the fans?1 fan did something stupid,not over 5,000.

Agree2 Disagree12

You dont applaud fans for their behaviour if its unacceptable. The fans on the pitch - there were more than one - were only the tip of the iceberg. You can have soul and passion without being crude and offensive. Didn't you watch the olympics?

Agree9 Disagree3

I have to agree with the first poster here, and the people who disagree are probably the type I want out of our club, there's banter sure but when the banter becomes obscene to the point of child abuse, that is way too far and I for one woud not want my wife and kids to be listening to that, you wouldn't scream such vile things at a park or a zoo but you think it's fine to do it at a football ground, get a life and stop ruining our team.
