Not a good performance today but a great result. Poor in the first half, slightly better in the second. Defensively we do look nice and solid, Bartley was very good today, Ayling and Pontus give me great confidence, still no idea what is going on inside Taylor's head though. Phillips was poor, O'Kane good in patches, great pass to Duke that earned us the penalty, as was Hernandez. Roofe is starting to show he belongs in this league and credit Monk for bringing Doukara who was more direct than anyone else on the field, which just what was required. Sterner tests ahead but we much to be happy about. MOT.

Spot on. Still plenty to work on, but the main thing with this result and the Wolves game was we got the points from not fantastic performances. Previous seasons and earlier this season it wouldn't have gone for us. Thought Ayling was excellent today and Bartley and Pontus had their usual 8/10 games don't expect anything less from those guys now. 3 points on Saturday against a Norwich side who have hit s sticky patch would start to bring the big crowds back. Attendances are already creeping up.

I have to say, the worst one on the field . AGAIN . was the referee, really, really poor. Did you see when Douk went past the centre-hal and he turned and pushed him over . goal-kick? FFS . the refs this season are making my blood boil, why can't we have a "homer" (cue Simpsons jokes) :)

We would have lost this 1-0 last season, reminds me of the Forest home game last year. That one bit of quality from Hernandez to open their defence up proved the difference in the end.

leeds win. again. talk of possible prem return. how good is this even if we don't get there to think it might be possible is great. leeds after about 15 years are finally on the up. I have been in the pub but was happy well before I got in there.

Bermondsey the biggest difference for me is the silly mistakes are gone that last season were costing us dearly also this season we don't look like conceding. For the last few years w were losing games from winning positions now when we go ahead we stay ahead.

Wex, that's because the players are better. Simple. Bartley and Pontus best things since Lucas and Woody. Midfield best since 2000. Has depth too. Only weakness is attack but Wood has answered critics (he looks fitter) , the Douk getting in on act and Roofe is about to set himself on fire having taken some games to attune to pace and hustle of this league. Tell Pops get me Rhodes in January then you going to see something.

this is so true is it great to watch leeds and not expect us to conceed. we are not ripping up the league but then we didn't when wilko took over either, all good maangers start att he back then move forward . it is good to be leeds atm.

Firsts for a long time; 1. My prediction came true about the score today, 0-0 HT, 2-0 FT 2. 1 point from a play off place 3. Positive goal diff 4. One of the tightest defences in the league 5. ER's becoming a fortress What's next? MM giving up drinking for December? MC to turn into a born again Christian? Planets to align? Me to put up a sensible post and not talk utter crap?

Just watched the highlights. Looks like roofe is finally showing what he's about and has begun to adjust well! Also from what I saw it looks like we can rip a team apart with a couple of passes when we want to, that has to be a real bonus! I've been a big anti wood supporter, but glad to say I'm wrong, he is beginning to look a real star! What a great display! well done lads were all proud of you! Watch out the championship, we're coming for all of you!

So Ives been thinking, who would be a good addition to our team if we do get ourselves promoted. In my opinion we would need a new striker and a new defence to partner Jansson as well as a new goalkeeper. Let's start with keepers, I think Marco Sportiello for Atalanta would be a good call. I think he's about 24 and has already proved himself against teams like Juventus and the Milan teams and I believe he played in the friendly against Leeds in the summer. For a new striker I think either Jordan Rhodes. We have seen that he is a very good goal scorer and would be a grey striker with wood coming in as a super sup. Another option would be a simple loan move for one of two younger players called Sandro and Munir, both currently play for Barcelona but are on the fringes of the first team. It was the same scenario for Gerard Deulofeu a few years ago. For defence I think Curtis Davis from Hull. He was great earlier in the season.

Elephant, I don't think we have any players good enough to do well in the Premier League if we got there, apart from Jansson maybe, (and he's not ours yet! ) I think we would need a completely new team. I don't think I'm being negative, just honest.

29 Oct 2016 19:14:34
Honest yes but a little bit negative.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Oct 2016 19:51:07
Wex, I should have said realistic rather than honest. Seriously through how many of our current side would be good enough to keep us up if/when we get there?

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Oct 2016 19:59:43
Id say 3 maybe 4 of current squad Taylor jannson Wood and Phillips looking promising.

Agree1 Disagree0

29 Oct 2016 20:43:15
Yeah I'd agree with three of those, but IMO Wood would struggle in the top flight. Then again let's hope we get a chance to find out! 🎃.

29 Oct 2016 21:11:59
Danum, that don't matter because PL revenue will mean we can afford more. We might be a yoyo side earning parachute money for a while. Better than being a mediocre championship club.

As with all such debates, no one truly knows how players will perform at a higher level until they have played there. Common sense dictates that all teams going up have needed to strengthen and I doubt we would be any different. Whilst he is only here on loan, personally I have been very impressed by Kyle Bartley, he looks comfortable on the ball and like many better quality players, he seems to have time on the ball. I was at today's game and continue to believe Ayling is a good acquisition and Wood is a quality player, as well as his goal scoring record, his link up play was excellent. I like Jordan Rhodes but Wood looks a more complete player. Quite the nicest thing I saw was at the end, O'Kane stopped for what must have been five minutes to chat, pose for photos and sign autographs as well as make a gift of his boots to young and in some cases less fortunate members of our society, a lovely gesture and great to see.

danum the fact we are talking prem is real progression leeds should be nearer league one than prem. i'd be happy to get in prem and not get a single point as that would still be punching for crap little leeds MOT.

BW, then we wouldn't be able to sing "we're not famous any more" because we would be the most well known team in the world for going a whole season losing every game! 😀.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Oct 2016 22:55:05
George, that's what I mean we would have to buy a new team. It's like when people say Celtic would struggle in the Premier League! No they wouldn't because they would use there new wealth and sponsorship to buy better players and we would have do the same if we managed to sneak up with this squad as it is nowhere near Premier League standard. Is it?

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Oct 2016 23:23:14
Danum, your point? It's only what we did in the summer. Get a new team. Green Ayling Bartley Pontus Okane Sacko Roofe Pablo All that will happen is we find even superior players and the likes of the above take spot on bench and try to challenge for starting berth.

As Ed has said Aus, Kodi is a great App, you can download it to laptop or mobile phone, quite often have a stream where others dont, you have 4 games on sky coming up aussie Newcastle H, rotherham A, Liverpool Cup, and Villa H, to look forward too, I will be at ER for the Newcastle game, reckon there will be 35 thousand there, then I will have to find a sports bar in tenerife to watch the others as i'm on me hols, tough job but someones got to do it 😊 😎.

One downside to a quarter final at anfield Big occasion, worldwide audience against a big team. What if Jansson has a storming match. My fear he will be hunted by teams in a better league with more money than us. Should I be concerned?

Fairly sure that MC had a first refusal clause in the loan contract with the fixed fee of around £3.6m so if we want to buy him then he has to sign for us.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Oct 2016 11:36:36
Slough I wouldn't worry he's clearly enjoying life in Leeds and in terrific form, Pontus knows he can help us achieve promotion, his passion and attitude is not only rubbing off on the players but fans too, once we are back in the prem he won't want to go anywhere else, he knows he is loved here and will get game time week in week out, he didn't get that in Italy.

Agree1 Disagree0

29 Oct 2016 11:42:07
That all sounds great but we all know money talks. And contracts count for nothing. Hope I'm wrong though.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Oct 2016 12:17:44
Pontus is not motivated by the money. Unusual I know. If we continue to give him the love and the team continues to improve, he's going nowhere!

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Oct 2016 12:48:06
Think massimo is working on the permanent deal for Pontus right now, also MC knew him from Italy and they have a good relationship, I know we have sold Byram and cook, but they are struggling in the prem, maybe why they were let go, but he definitely is not giving up on Taylor, so I don't think he would be willing to let Pontus go easily, given how he and Bartley have transformed our defence. But I think it all depends on how this season finishes if we get promoted he, Charlie and all our other talent can realise their ambition in the Premier league with us.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Oct 2016 09:27:49
2-0 today for me. Wood and I fancy Pontus for some bizarre unknown reason. A tight 1st half with not many chances then we'll take control in the 2nd and score two.
