Best window for a while. We have kept all our young guns! Well done Team Massimo! MOT

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yes jeff
Kept on to the star youngsters. Norris leaves. Bamba arrives. Plus another couple of big uns. Billy Sharp refuses to go and is itching to be given the chance to poach a few more. Likewise Rudy wanting to go nowhere.
In the circumstances, I'd say pretty damn good! I'm well pleased.
Seems to me we now have a squad of players who actually want to play for Redders and the club, and not for just their wage packets. And an owner who (despite his many, many failings) - and yes I know he's 'not technically in control at the moment', actually cares more about Leeds United than lining his pockets. Doubt that's happened before in my 50 years of supporting them. Now the tricky bit - improving enough so they want to stay next season. That ain't going to be easy

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree speedy. need to finish above midway in table though and near to play offs as possible. It will be better for the youngsters development to stay for another season in my opinion.
Byram is the most risky as could possibly do a job in premier league. Taylor we definitely need to keep and Cooper. Good defenders are hard to come by. Bamba will def sign if he does well. Cook & Mowatt will want to stay but premier league may call.

But we shouldn't underestimate the effect of a winning mentality and squad camaraderie.

Whatever will be will be . but these youngsters would all command good fees so, the future is bright. or brighter MOT

Apparently Redfearn wanted Martyn Woolford but cellino said no :/

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well done Cellino

Ditto smitch

03 Feb 2015 00:56:36
Questions are what matter is it that Cellino said no? He is legally not in charge. He is obviously still in contact and I got no problem with that but why is the club allowing to leak the obvious truth when it can hurt them? Last time I checked Cellino is still a hero and a rich one.

again mc picking out players to play for us does he know enough about English football or football to do this . he might as well be coach as well or is he . YES great he's got money and getting us out of trouble that way but let the football people do the football business just run the things not to do with football yes input about wagws yes but he should not be saying who joins and plays under minding coach and yes deadwood going . hope transfers system changes next year

Agree0 Disagree0

Apparently millwall decided against it, they don't have enough depth on the wings

I don't really see the point in signing anyone in this window unless they're on very little salaries.
What I mean is I think most of us on this site think we're going to stay up with the players we already have & we are definitely not getting promotion.
If we need wingers why not try the players we already have like Adryan, Sloth, Montenegro, Dawson or even White. I don't get why skillful attacking midfielders can't do a job out wide.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Doesn't read right that. Meant to say ''anyone else''.

Agree0 Disagree0

If you sign a 6 foot plus centre forward then it would make sense to have a out and out winger who can supply the type of service that a centre forward of his stature requires to score goals

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree east keswick we don't have wingers and I thought that's why matt smith left.We didn't need a tall centre forward the way we were going to play. How things have turned a full circle through 3 coaches and 1 manager (McDermot) back to the drawing board and start again with our "better players"
onwards and upwards MOT

Am I the only person that thinks its funny watcin deadline day on ssn( for all off 10 mins) and they have bugger all to talk about. At last it seems owners are starting to live in the real world even the qpr owner has stoped signig players on 100k a week and blank cheques for mr rednakapp to wast . The one bit off stupid happonings is at west brom signed a player for a club record deal only to sell him 4 less than half 5 months later maddnessss

Due to his height, which is 6'4" Çani is renowned as a target man centre forward, with his strengths being his heading ability and ability to hold the ball up to bring his teammates into the game.

Hopefully Cani will do the same sort of job as Smith did and may be in to replace Morison as target man to hold ball up.

He hasn't ben prolific but in his best season he hit 11 goals so at least he knows where the net is.

At last we are signing some bigger stronger physical players which you need as a spine in the team in the Championship.

Problem earlier in the season was we were too easily bullied out of games and knocked off the ball (except Rudi) hopefully upward and onward to a win against the Bees Saturday.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

02 Feb 2015 20:29:28
Absolutely spot on Ox. Been saying it for some time. We had to improve the spine. Now we done that some of the flair players will do better. Wouldn't surprise me if we start scoring 3 or 4 a game for a little spurt.

Only problem we had with smith was we hit the ball to him too soon and never varied play. It was long ball, long ball, long ball.

just found this web site said Warnock asked for 2 yr contract mc said 30yrs old and he wouldn't move from Liverpool to leeds so you only play for leeds if you live there . next cani is another mc signing tall at 6ft 4 inch but not a great goal scorer only been playing last 15mins or so also said rudi will never be sold . will he be fit not started a full game for long time so mc still picking team and signing not good and you have to live in leeds or you can't play limits one's signing

Just watched a video of some of Canis goals and if he has not been scoring it must be because he either has not had much time on pitch or playing wrong system for him as he definitely has class. Good quick feet, good in air and shows a lot of passion. Crap at penalties . Bye Morrison mot

no been sub yes goals would be good that's all that's missing and yes morison out

MC quoted when he took over last year that he wants all the people who work for LUFC to live in Leeds. which he's kept his word and so he should!

Liverlass did u say ngoye injured!! Why have we signed an injured player for! Just gets better this lol!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He's unfit fit, not injured

Agree0 Disagree0

It was Redfearn who said in his post match interview that he had a niggle but didn't know if he came with it or not. Either way he can't play yet.

We are not selling Rudi. Ngoyi was not injured when he arrived. Cani has just signed. Smith was part of the McCormack deal and is now scoring at lower levels. Other than than that can't say much until I've seen Cani play. Both Sharpe and Antelucci are not that good in the air so have to wait and see who else is signed or not as the case might be. Considering what we were like before Cellino and the potential for disaster I'm reluctant to criticise him or his team at the moment. At least the style of football has improved and we have the first double over Huddersfield for 76 years. Can't be all bad.

no point selling Rudi as looks like we've signed a player (ngoye) that is injured. Am I right in thinking this is a loan until end of season? If so then blimey we have bloody persons running our club! Just how many months are we going to get out of him before he is fit again & able to get up to speed in the Championship? Now I hear that Billy could have gone to Ipswich! And Cani, as he really got a better scoring record than Matt Smith. I think I could do a better job myself, even if I am female!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Matt Smith will go down as a very poor decision by us, I have always said this, mainly because he would have got better and always gave you a plan B and of course SCORES (imagine that as a forward!).
Tonge gone instead of Rudi which is good business for the club, as was hunt going (understand Warnock deal but I would have kept him).

I understand it is only a slight niggle and he should be OK soon but if not you are right we should just send him back as hopefully if injured contract has a clause.

Fans have been going on for ages to get rid of the dross which we seem to have done a little bit. I take your point re BS and Rudi but up until the last 4-5 games Rudi has been average at best and a lot of fans wanted him dropped. BS also had done very little but for me had a lot to do with the system.

This window I would keep BS if we get another tall guy up front, RA I don't really mind either way as I would not keep him for next year team anyway, but he has done fine in the last few games.

So I get your point, in the summer I think MC needs to have a man who can recruit for us in other leagues apart from just Italy (he needs to learn from current mistakes which he may not of course) but (so far) this window is not too bad bearing in mind we have one hand tied behind our back, Bamba looks a good signing.

Agree0 Disagree0

No need to worry Liverlass Looks like leeds have done an about turn in that Austin is not to be sold in this transfer window according to ssn.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cani looks like he's carrying a bit too much wood on some of those pics on OS. Let's hope this isn't another loanee we've recruited who's not match fit.

Austin is such a key player I cannot believe some fans think we should sell him. It would be a crazy decision but we seem to shoot ourselves in the foot every transfer window so wouldn't be at all surprised . Remember becchio being sold pretty much ended our promotion chances a couple of years ago

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Totally agree 1423, we should be careful what we wish for.

If we wanted to save on money the option we should have used as a winger should have been Ajose. Don't really want woolford as think Pringle would be a better option. I hope that if rudy has been sold them it's for a better winger than we are being linked with.

Its time that we flushed out who actually makes the final decision on transfers at Leeds. OK up to now everything points to Massivego. However if he is actually complying with the terms of his ban, then this should no longer be the case.

I, and I assume I'm not alone, am fed up with Redfearn continually bleating that he needs "Players with Championship experience" to be followed by examples who do have that pedigree leaving usually within days. Warnock who, until he left, was one of our most consistent players departed for Derby where he will be lucky to get regular football. Then Pearce, love him or not, followed last week. Sharp revealed yesterday that he was told (BY Whom?) that he could have follows Hunt to Ipswich and the papers today are again suggesting that Austin will leave for Wigan.

So who is sanctioning these moves, if its Salerno as most assume then this needs to be official and the newshounds can stop rumour mongering by asking Redfearn what he thinks? It's a pointless exercise and embarrassing to Redfearn, who should tell it like it is - there's no point asking me what I think, go ask Salerno!

Meanwhile the constant dilution of players who can play in the championship continues, replaced by ineffective - Baradi, Bianchi and dangerous Bellusci or just not fit (for purpose?) as Benedicic or the latest recruit Ngoyi. Cani is now expected to sign on a half-season loan from Catania.

Latest Whites rumours link us with moves for Millwall winger Martyn Woolford - with Michael Tonge perhaps going the other way - as well as Huddersfield Town forward Joe Lolley. However we all no these will be unlikely as Salerno will be unlikely to collect a signing bonus for bringing them in. Austin continues to be linked with a move to Wigan with Ipswich Town known to have been interested in Billy Sharp. For whom he will most likely gain a further bonus from Massivego for moving them on?

Its time the truth is revealed, what bonus scheme is Salerno on and just how much LUFC funds are spirited out of the club? Also if Redfearn has no influence, which sadly seems to be the truth, then its time he made it clear that if he has no say and directed comments to Salerno or better stands firm and calls Massivego bluff - either I make the decisions or I go -in the current circumstances it would flush out some truths -its time he puts his neck on the line and a better time will not come again for him

As a longstanding supporter I just need to know the truth and have a club owned and managed by someone who is open honest and has LUFC's best interests at heart. Will this happen -no chance they are all in it, Bates, GFH, Massivego for personal gain or an ego trip. Worst of all they think we are all so gullible and that we can be so easily conned.

What do others think?

Hi Richard
Only got time for a brief respose atm
But basically, I would say
1) Ignore most of the paper talk until deals are done
2) Billy was told he could go, but he doesn't want to. And good. I don't want him to go either
3) Obviously thinks are quite a lot more chaotic at Leeds than at most clubs, but in reality - no fans know at any club actually knows who is making the final decisions. No manager or coach signs players, because they can't sign the cheques. They just make suggestions and the owner says yes or no. That's all done behind closed doors usually. I'm not sure that full transparency is necessarily helpful always

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Feb 2015 15:00:57
Richard, could not agree more but Redders will have been instructed contractually to keep up the farce and charade. He is hardly going to act like my avatar and tell journos the truth especially with Cellino being banned. I inagine the better he does and higher up the table we go the more of a say he will have behind closed doors.

Great post Richard111, best I have seen on here for ages. We deserve to be told what is exactly happening at our great club. All we won't as loyal fans is to be told the truth, instead I fear we are being mugged off with all these second rate players from Italy. MOT

Good post Richard. you may recall I made an impassioned plea for more openness and transparency a few days ago. All this secrecy and fudging just creates mistrust, and we've had more than enough of that with Papa Smurf, GH etc. it's time someone at the club actually acknowledged that the club's main income stream comes from. US . the fans! We deserve better than all this incessant cloak and dagger malarkey.
