McD has definitely not had it well when it comes to transfers so far. Heard Tom Cairney cost Blackburn just 500k. or two Luke Murphy's. who was man of the match, and who was subbed second half? can't quite remember.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Also heard that Tom cairney was released from leeds for being too small. maybe blame the academy for letting him go? They made the same mistake with Micah Richards and nearly with jonny Howson and Sam byram

No dodgy rumour but I think we need another striker and I think there are 3 good realistic options

LeFondre: Good player him and McDermott get on and he is a hard worker and can score goals

Sharpe: proven goal scorer at this level

Gradel: ok not an out and out striker but would be a good signing I think and can play wing also

One or 2 of these and maybe a CM and I think we will get playoffs

Adam Le Fondre has a score rate as good as anyone and better than most so why does he only start half the games?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Cos his general play isn't as good as his goals to games, ie his hold up play running out wide let him down. He just buzzes round the box. IMO he is a player who needs to be in a team set around him. Ie Rhodes at Blackburn don't do much but score. I would. take ALF but not sure Brian will. Rumours off Billy Sharpe surfacing again

Give Austin a rest on sat as he's looking tired, and give Zaliukas the Captains armband.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agree pal, to many mistakes and Saturday, shame because he has done pretty well, we all have a little bad run.

Agree0 Disagree0

The whole midfield needs freshening up. Poor midfield = under pressure defence. Hiding at Leeds somewhere is Green, Norris, Tongue, Diouf surely a run out against Rochdale for someone

Agree0 Disagree0

Green and Norris are both long term injuries with no comeback date in sight. Tonge does deserve a game as he was doing quite well earlier in season and as for EHD, is he even in the country at the moment?

Agree0 Disagree0

A young lad by the name of Jack Blake would be a great signing from Forest. A solid midfielder with a killer pass and amazing vision. Forest are not giving the young lads a chance and he is ready willing and very able.

I like Brian McD but.

I think his transfer record so far at Leeds has been questionable at best.

Murphy - £1m (ouch!)
Hunt - top earner (ouch!)
Smith - jury till out
Zaliukas - best signing by far
Wooton - very average

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed013's Note - I have to disagree mate, but thats the joys of debate in football. I think Wootton, Zaliukas and Murphy are very good signings. Smith isn't doing bad with 8 goals to be fair and Hunt still has time to impress}

Couldn't agree more with Ed013.
IMO Murphy, I was a little dubious about at first but recently his qualities are beginning to show. Can't argue with Smith's scoring record, he's a good target man and foil for Ross but still not totally sure of him as he misses a few sitters almost every game. Zak is class. Wootton I like what I've seen so far. Hunt, was he playing with an injury at the start of the season and still not fully fit?

Agree0 Disagree0

Id agree that Murphy has been poor but he is still young and learning at this level. Smith is the same and at the moment is only good as an impact sub. Wooton has looked strong when playing and is also young. Zaliukas is probably our best player along side ross. When Hunt was playing he was very poor and he should definatly not be our highest earner

Agree0 Disagree0

Only Hunt is a terrible signing. Wooton Smith and Murphy all show promise and Zaliukas is quality. What's required is more quality allowing certain first teamers to develop from the bench.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hunt was playing with an injury and only 80% fit, he wanted to do well from the start nd paid the price. Give him chance to get fit and 3or 4 matches under his belt and you will EAT your words lads MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

Hunt has been a terrible signing so far but from what can make out he is now fully fit and BM said looking more like the player he expected to see. Perhaps he deserves another chance?

Agree0 Disagree0

Murphy has been a decent signing and is still young and has potential

Plus smith has 8 goals and his hold up play is good. I agree we could do with a better striker but for a free transfer he has scored more than lots of good players. Such as Ince and LeFondre

Agree0 Disagree0

Matt smith will score even more once we sign a winger or two can see him going on a good run of form

If all the TRUE, nailed on, definate transfers on here happen we will have a squad of 40+ and would clearly stroll into the playoffs - However it would now be nice to have one or more of these confirmed by the club itself - obviously waiting for the FA to ratify the investors as fit and proper (makes you laugh with some of the current owners of football clubs)

There's a Plummer for the housing in swarcliff who came to fix our toilet today. I've seen him a few times as he's the one that seams to be called out every time. Anyway first thing he said was you have made a new signing he supports Bradford and said he went to the game yesterday and when wells went off limping. He was out with Hanson their other striker and he said there was nothing wrong with him he's off isn't he. And he is adamant that he's coming to us. Says he's over rated and won't hack it In the champ says he can't beat players is always looking to fall. Says he is good at shooting but can't run at players and use his pace. It's just a what he has told me but me personally wasn't convinced. Would be a decent signing though. You can slate me all oh want but it was just from a Bradford supporter who works in my area(swarcliff) called jono so take what you want from this

I think Kenwyne Jones would be a great addition for us, worth trying a loan deal. Desperately need some quality in midfield, but who I don't know.

Lots of rumours flying around (as usual where LUFC and transfer window are concerned).

No rumours just a small wish list.

Le Fondre
Mad Max Gradle
A fit David Bentley
And a fit/fully focused Diouff back in mix

Some ammunition and firepower there with Macca already producing the goods.

Pearce and Zaliukas are looking solid with decent backup.
442 is the way forward once 2 wingers are in the squad.

People might think I am mad, but over the weekend I took to every video I could find for one particular player. John Guidetti of Man City.

I think I must have watched in excess of 20+ Videos on the player, every single one showed a young footballer with an incredible amount of passion for the game and for scoring goals, something we lack considerably (except Ross).

The lad is not getting a look in at City, hardly surprising, with the wealth of talent they have on show, and after watching him (not just Youtube Videos) I feel he should be our number 1 target for a striker. He is strong, quick, very skilful, and most importantly, he knows where the back of the net is, so please B'Mac, Mr Haigh and whoever else is getting involved in the transfers this January, get him signed up (A loan would do, for the the remainder of the season).

He would be a great addition.

Agree0 Disagree0

We've had all year to sign the lad, 20 year old Swedish international who's parent club is 30 odd miles down the road

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah I agree, although I believe he has been hit with injuries throughout the beginning of the season, pretty sure he is nearing full fitness if not fully fit already so we should definitely get involved in the race to sign him up.

A realistic option on GRADEL IS a loan deal first .?
His French club have reportedly put him up for sale this week(6.12.13) as they look to bring in Guillaume Hoarau from his Chinese nightmare with Dalian Aerbin in January - so they must now consider ways of cutting the wage bill before doing so.

Gradel has recently recovered from an injury which kept him out of action for a number of months and has only played a handful of games for the club this season.

With a World Cup coming up and Gradel dreaming of being in attendance with The Elephants he needs first-team football - so why not return to the club where he had two great seasons?

Obviously cost would be an issue. Investment is due but whether it would be enough to actually sign the player is another question entirely. But a loan deal which saw Leeds take on a share of his wages for the season might just be perfect.

We need a keeper Kenny is well past his sell by date and never moves off his line for corners or crosses At fault for the second goal yesterday and time he was replaced, Lees just plays hoof ball and is scared to death with the ball at his feet, Mowatt looks constantly knackered and slow, Need some new faces very soon or will finish mid table like last year. Performace yesterday was horific and will certainly not see a 30,000 plus crowd for the next home game.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It did not help having mat smith standing in front of him.

Agree0 Disagree0

No he normally comes off his line he didn't yesterday for the same reason he couldn't kick the ball and take goal kicks etc. He is injured, hate to slag him off but McDermott got it massively wrong playing him.

I read somewhere that Tom Cairney was released by Leeds for not being big enough. I really hope the same doesn't happen with Dawson.

He should have been given a chance when Mowatt got injured. We were chasing game and he has more creativity in his pinky than Brown has.

An additional point, I can't understand why we are keeping a hold of Diouf, as much as I like what he could bring to a game, his head ain't there and his contract is up in the Summer.

As well as the signings expected, I hope we can get rid of the dead weight around the club this January.

DS

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The ironic thing about LUFC ditching Cairney on grounds of his diminutive stature is that (many years ago!) we grabbed Billy Bremner after Chelsea rejected him for the same reason. Strachan is no giant either. Ah well! PK

Agree0 Disagree0

Kevin Blackwell was in charge when Cairney was released. I say no more.

After today's horrific performance once again by Paddy Kenny any manager would in any sense go for a new goalkeeper, Kenny just stands there for most shots and was beaten on a lot of occasions today. So Leeds are going to bring in a goalkeeper along with Gnabri and Stewart. MOT

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Kenny was injured pal, yet our defence still passed it back to him. Why do you think Zaliukus was taking dead ball kicks? Kenny is a great shot stopper and his ball distribution is great. He does struggle with corners though due to his lack of presence. We do need cover, but a keeper ain't our priority.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree 100% he never comes for a cross or a corner and is static, at fault for 2nd goal and his time is up.

Agree0 Disagree0

If Kenny was injured he should not play simples. If we have sub goalkeeper that is not good enough to play what's the point in him being on the bench!

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree. He shouldn't have played, but what does that say about young Cairns? Obviously Brian McD doesn't trust him to play.

Agree0 Disagree0

Paddy Kenny got crocked at Forest and was playing injured. That says to me BMD has no faith in Cairns and I expect another keeper to be signed in this window, please God let it be Alex McCarthy! MOT Ron.

Not going to lie, the loss at home to Blackburn is a big disappointment, expected at least a point, but maybe that's based on the results we have ground out leading up to this Christmas period.

If you look around, the teams that performed well were the ones with big squads. We, as proved over this Christmas period, just do not have a big or good enough SQUAD yet, it's all well and good having a half decent starting 11, but these busy periods require good, strong squads, which we don't have, players get knocks, they get tired and if you're Diouf they go AWOL too. That said, for a long time since god knows when it looks as though we may actually have a fair transfer kitty to hit January with, it is now down to the powers that be to get the required players in and push on from what has been a fair start to the season (Christmas period aside), I have faith that we can achieve a play-off place with the right type of players coming in.
