Eds. Can't we have the thumbs up and thumbs down in blue? Most of us don't like red.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed033's Note - i meant to put them as blue for leeds but forgot to change it.

02 Jan 2017 21:40:26
Well is it too late to change it now? The red is making my eyes bleed 😜.

Agree0 Disagree2

{Ed033's Note - Maybe Leeds United should change colour. We tried purple on here before for a bit.

02 Jan 2017 20:36:26
Hi guys first time on here. Does anyone agree that we should get Ex Newcastle Defender Steven Taylor on a free? Would be great cover for Bartley Jansson and Cooper plus can play left/right back that is on the basis we sign Jansson and Bartley first on permanent deals. M. O. T.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

02 Jan 2017 21:48:08
I had seen this and thought the same Hardy. Much better than Cooper and would give us a great bit of cover, not sure he would be happy as 3rd choice though. Good bit of business if we go for him, would be another player that could make the step up to the prem too if we pull off the great escape this season.

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Jan 2017 22:09:57
That's what I was thinking Gummie about the step up to premiership he's the right side of 30 and I think he is a confidence based player if he comes to Leeds our fans will warm to him just like we did Bartley and Jansson he was linked with Arsenal only 3 years ago but injury's was a problem for him back then. If fit and looking for a new challenge he might fancy us as we are the inform championship team and great fan base. M. O. T.

Look at Bark could not get a game at the Swansea comes the us and has been excellent playing almost every game . Taylor is a yes from me.

Not Leeds related but just watched the premier league game. Must have been worst refereeing and linesman performance since we were robbed of the European cup.

We all know yourself and Bermondsey are closet hammers fans speedy.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2017 21:37:43
Well I am a hammers fan when they are playing the Pride of Devon. Wasn't really meaning they were biased, just Donald Trump.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2017 21:58:12
I watched it myself speedy and you are right shocking referee that guy its bad when Niall Quinn doesn't like you.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2017 22:07:31
Clearly I didn't type Donald Trump! It's the Eds having a jape at my expense. Fair enough.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - no mate, it is swear words that get changed to other words. Though I am wondering if changing swear words to Donald Trump makes them more or less offensive......}

02 Jan 2017 22:15:06
But I put an asterisk where the letter I was in the middle after the s and the h and before the t and the e lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I know but I was bored. In the end I got that bored I went and completed my FA Level 1 in Talent Identification instead. I can tell you are impressed. I bet Berm doesn't have that! ;-)

02 Jan 2017 22:22:11
Well he is talented. But maybe not in the same way 😃.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I am thinking I probably don't want to know any more than that!}

02 Jan 2017 23:54:55
fristly yes I do like west ham, good London club with good phlosiphy and academy. 2ndly I have my level three which means I can tell the difference between my nan and zidane on a football pitch, 3rdly Donald trump is a great man as he has made my job as a comedy writer so much easier for next four years and finally speedy knows I am a man of many talents.

03 Jan 2017 05:52:12
That's told you Ed! 😃 Nuff said!

{Ed001's Note - it's ok I was asleep then so never read it. So he actually told Ed007, who was probably wondering what on earth Berm was on about.}

03 Jan 2017 11:06:21
After BW was singing the praises of the rouge faced one the other day then I wouldn't be surprised if he turned out a closet fan of the shade of ruby team that play in the small village just the other side of Pennines.

Lost, a puppy who responds to the name George. Last seen at approx mid afternoon on the 01/01/17. Any useful information urgently wanted. If you do spot him please do not approach as he could've developed a mental scar. Come back George, you are sorely missed!

Am I alone in thinking that however much we were over achieving this season, Newcastle are really under achieving?

Believable0 Unbelievable4

02 Jan 2017 19:32:55
Looks like you are 😃.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2017 20:24:30
Speedy. If people disagree I don't mind. just think keeping a lot of a premiership squad, having parachute payments and spending £57m in the summer with Rafa as manager, they should not potentially be 5 points off the top! Not saying I wouldn't want to swap places with they. just thinking they should at least be top and by a distance.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2017 20:46:33
What makes you think we are overachieving we're Leeds United.

Agree0 Disagree1

02 Jan 2017 21:10:08
That it was a brand new team, new coach and last season we finished 13th. Anyway, that's not so much my point, more that Newcastle are under achieving.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2017 21:27:59
It's a tougher league. More games and more physical than premiership.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2017 21:36:38
It is, but surely they should be walking away with it! £57m in the summer if nothing else!

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2017 21:55:50
But we all know you can't just buy a league title.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2017 22:06:14
I know that. Honestly though if we had spent the money, had those players/squad and a champions league winning manager who's managed some of the biggest clubs in the world and we were potentially 5 points from the top wouldn't you think we were underachieving?

Agree0 Disagree1

02 Jan 2017 23:57:49
can see point but many come down and don't go back up so as long as they go up they have done the job and how they do the job don't really matter but yes I think they should be walking this league having dropped very few points, and we are massively overachiving at the moment, small squad years of seeling gems and not spending to replace, we should not be doing as well as we are and well done to all involved for a great season so far.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jan 2017 00:32:43
Well done Gary Monk I say. Baring major injuries, a couple of additions and we will go mighty close to auto promotion imo. Funny to think that one or two posters said he didn't know what he was doing after only seven or eight games! Just been looking at the remaining fixture list and in my mind every game looks winable, whereas last season it looked daunting. Amazing what a proper manager with a good pedigree of bringing in the right players can do. Well done MC, Monk and every bit as important, the fans. MOT.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2017 17:26:55
Another 3 points which is great. Again our defence doesn't concede. Just looked at the recent games and in the league we have conceded only 1 goal from open play in the last 10.5 hours! With defense like that we can beat anyone in this league!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

02 Jan 2017 18:37:19
Also Canada on the flip side, look at our goal difference. when was it ever that high!?

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Jan 2017 19:24:39

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2017 16:52:49
Isn't it great at this stage of the season to have no relegation concerns whatsoever. Also a fantastic opportunity to give players a long rest as I'm sure Monk will play a virtual reserve team against Cambridge. MOT!

02 Jan 2017 15:40:53
This is worrying and I am a little concerned about 4:45 this afternoon.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

02 Jan 2017 16:29:18
A tweak in formation was all that was needed. what wasn't I worried about. always trust a monk!

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2017 16:36:35
As I said before the start, it was an odd formation change. Maybe Monk just wanted to test out a plan B? If it ain't broke, don't fix it as far as I'm concerned, 4-2-3-1 suits the style and players we have and long may that last.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2017 16:52:37
Agreed, suppose of all the matches to try something new then on paper this was the one to use. Just pleased that we now have a manager who can see things don't work and then makes positive changes with a positive outcome.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2017 16:54:41
I just think Monk sensed blood and had a team full of in form attackers to choose from. Monk had selection headache as he wanted to give Hernandez and Wood more game time too. Sign of a top manager is taking risks and admitting when you get it wrong. Took the risk and 45 mins later admitted his mistake. 90 mins later - 3-0 MOT!

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2017 14:35:48
Strange starting 11 for the game today. Looks like monk is going for a 4-1-4-1 or a 4-1-3-2 unless he plans to drop Hernandez into DM? Seems we will be going heavy on the offensive today, risky though when we have built a season on back line solidity so far. Starting 11 for those who haven't seen it - Green, Ayling, Bartley, Jansson, Berardi, Bridcutt, Hernandez, Sacko, Roofe, Doukara, Wood.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

02 Jan 2017 14:49:07
I think it near perfect. 5-0 for me.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2017 15:00:36
Aus I hope you're right. hard fought 2-1 or 3-1 I think. as me poster has said hope we're not going to try and boost our goal difference and it comes back to bite us.

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Jan 2017 15:02:48
A more attacking line up it seems, Gummie.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2017 15:02:54
In Monk we trust Aus, I just worry about going all out attack in a derby against a side with nothing to lose. Bridcutt could end up a little overwhelmed if they throw caution to the wind early doors. Probably just our tendency to flop against teams at the bottom over the years making me paranoid tbh.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2017 14:14:53
Is that our best 11? Maybe 10.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

02 Jan 2017 14:39:30
Aus i'd say not far of our strongest. no Taylor again, is he injured still or is it because he's gone pretty much. On paper i'd should be a big win, but local derby i'd say just a win. but three points at least.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2017 12:46:36
Just seen a free transfer XI on s@n. To add a bit of steel in the middle of the park essien and merieles are both free and been in constant training. Think essien in particular would be a decent signing.

Wages?

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2017 13:49:03
Perhaps, however at 34 and being without a club can't imagine he'd turn down 10-15k. He's just let paok, so can't imagine that wages are to big in Greece.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2017 14:46:03
Both top players Curahee but DM is not really a problem area for us right now (dont get me wrong, if we go up I would love them both for next season) . We need to add goals more than anything so really only Adebayor improves us massively and I doubt he would drop down in league and wage. The interesting name on the list is N'Zogbia, would be a huge risk with Nantes not signing him due to a perceived heart problem but he might be willing to join simply because no one else will touch him, easily better than the wingers we have.

Happy 2017 to all my fellow Leeds fans. My new year resolutions are to lay off the booze for a while, be a bit less of a WUM on here and get back into training for a half marathon this year. I'm going for a pb this year. To all you athletes out there, do you know of a fairly flat 20k/half marathon in God's own county? P.S. A good win today, other results to go our way and 3rd place here we come. MOT.

Good luck Lucas. Beat my pb last year (2016) and hoping to get under 1:35 this year. Not sure of any flat half marathon's in Yorks. Try Runners World online - there's a directory of all halts and full marathons plus details of the course - hilly, good for pb etc. Cheers MM.

would love to be in oz in Feb but too soon only just done my first training run this morning 10k in a pathetic 1hr 5 mins. Too much cams cheer me tinks. My pb for a half is something in the region of 1hr 35ish in the Leeds half about 7 years ago and a very hilly course.

Sacko def good enough. Needs to improve on his final ball decision making. Only a couple in this league better than him.

02 Jan 2017 12:21:55
Agree Bige, he certainly is.

Agree0 Disagree1

02 Jan 2017 14:49:56
Sacko still only 22 so he has around 4 more years till he hits his peak. Needs us to bring in a more senior Winger to work with (Pugh got mentioned, not sure if we are still interested) and I think he will improve rapidly. Worth noting he made a LB that Villa turned £25m down for look a fool the other week, he has the potential.

Rumour has it a few clubs are in the bid for Henri Lansbury as his contract is up in the summer. Reports suggesting a 2.5m bid is enough. I think definitely worth a punt.

They have knocked back the £2.5m bid out of hand so expect he will cost a lot more. Good player but since we don't really play anyone at CM (2 DM's + 1 AM in our regular formation) I'm not sure where he would fit into the team.

Bit harsh corky. Legally agents may have no control and player def has final say. They do have a big influence on decision making especially for young players. Not all of them are looking at playdrs best interests. If it was all as clear cut as it should be we would not have managers slagging them off and chairmen giving them bungs. Not all about what's written on a bit of paper.

There is not one of us who would not gladly suffer death to rid this country of the Players Agents once and for all. Uh, well, one! there's one.

But otherwise, we're solid. Brothers, we should not be fighting amongst ourselves. to put it most simple the agent can sometimes have influence on a player, a agent gets cut of transfer and/or % of wage so it is always worth agents time to get best deal (same with acting) they can turn a players head, they can intice with big money or flaunt product (players are products to an agent the same way a car is to a dealer) but they can never make a player do anything they don't want to do, all the power is with the player and or club not the agent of course that said some can be very influencing but not in a forcful kind of way. if agents had the power no player would be at any club for more than one window. one club players are rare as is players going for passion over money (like with shearer to newcastle instead of utd) but this is due to player greed not agent power. if agents had the power this would never happen I promise you all.
