So so proud to be Welsh at this moment in time, only if the Leeds players had the same fire in there bellies ( Wales have been in as many knockout stages in a week in a major tournament as England have in the past twenty years lol ) MOT, #togetherstronger.

In fairness to Wales they have more than the clichés. They are playing fantastic football. They did not panic when a goal down. They are playing to systems and every man is doing his job. Yes their motivated but there is much more to Wales at the moment and they deserve more credit than just saying oh their"Up for it" I'm not saying this towards you Newport I just feel in general they deserve credit and If England were playing like Wales they would be getting adored saying they were the new brazil.

Totally agree with you wex, they have made history mate and they don't fear anyone, I think we could go all the way, stranger things have happened but credit where credits due, Wales and Italy have looked a cut above the rest in this tournament and people are starting to respect us as a team which is great. Together stronger.

Don't mind the Welsh, or the Scot's or the Irish if I'm honest I know the feeling ain't mutual though 😄 What they all have is pride for the nation they are representing and to put that into a club perspective Leicester City had the same. No ego's round pegs in round holes malarkey and no messing about. I hope Monk can get us playing like that this season. How often do you hear about Leeds with the fans they have deserve more? Just about every pundit and reporter comes out with it. All we need are players who play with the passion we show and we'll be an automatic shoe in 👍🏻.

Wales playing great. Well set out. Passion. Skill. Good manager. Good system. They deserve it
I can see them doing Portugal. Don't think they can beat France though!
But good on them. I was running round the lounge cheering every goal watching them dismantle Belgium
I feel asleep watching England. That says it all. Shame Wales had to suffer the indignantry of England beating them.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jul 2016 16:04:26
Agree with all on here. Wales (and Leicester) prove that hard work, a system and a bonding can beat most teams. All managers (inc Garry) will have noted this and taken heart that even with a very thin cheque book success can be achieved.

Hope Wales really go for it in the Semi and fair play to them for getting this far. However, let us not be so quick to slag off England. The Man utd supporters over here are famous for that sort of stuff. Rooney is a god in the man utd shirt and a demon when playing in the English shirt. Also the former Man utd man, Mr Ronaldo, is really getting on my wick, so a Wales victory would be even sweeter.

Shame ramsay is suspended for the semi final, they'll struggle without him I think. The man has been sensational for Wales. Good luck to them though I hope they pull it off.

Why do we need to buy players just for the sake of it? Isn't that the reason we got into this whole mess in the first place?

Who says it's for the sake of it?
It's incredibly clear over the last few years that the players coming into the football club have not been good enough. Monkey will get the players to play to their full potential but it won't be enough to challenge.
It wasn't spending that got us into trouble but overspending. No danger of that right now.

Everyone moaning that Bartley was on loan rather than spending money. Everyone moaning when another Championship team signs a player, that we weren't in for him, even if we don't need them. Everyone saying we have no ambition because we don't overspend on players not worth their fee i. e. Roofe, Elphick. That is wanting to spend money for the sake of it.

Did you watch the team last year. The players are not good enough. We didn"t score enough goals and we leak stupid goals. If only we had a billionaire as owner. I forgot apparently we have.

03 Jul 2016 00:35:02
Yes I did and we're lacking creativity and goals from midfield. We're supposedly going in for Limbombe again, who'd be a great signing. No doubt fans would moan he's a "cheap option" though as he isn't ludicrously overpriced. I'd like a number ten like Almen Abdi and then another CB and McCarthy on loan and that'll do.

If, as has been rumoured, we have no money then is it time to dig in, consolidate and aggresively work on what we already have on the books. Some teams are noticably trying to buy their way into the prem (which may work) but it has been shown that a TEAM of average players can give anyone a game if they have a system and they all buy into it.
I do not believe we have a bad squad at Elland Road so let this be a test of the management team and let's see if they can get each player giving 110% every game, even if some days we park the bus. I am at a stage now where I would forego tici-taki for 3 points everytime.

Broadly agree with what you say but the first team nowhere near good enough and neither is the squad. Harmony, team play, togetherness and siege mentality when needed are very important but it pales into insignificance if the players aren't up to it. Quite frankly, with the current squad we have we'd probably only just squeeze into the League One playoffs. At Championship level, I only see us scoring roughly 50 goals in the season. We need to find another 30 from somewhere and don't even get me started on the defence. Bridcutt is a must. Why hasn't that deal been done yet? Cellino don't know what he's doing. He is however slowly beginning to learn.

Agree10 Disagree2

02 Jul 2016 14:19:14
Just a thought, but with a lot of the academy players signing new contracts, maybe we are not going to sign many, if any more new players.
It could be that Cellino is hoping that two or three of the youngsters come good thus saving him some money.
Unless we sell Taylor which would give him some money to spend as it seems we have very little to spend at the moment.

Agree with your thoughts re youngsters, they will be used to bulk out the squad and given the opportunity to prove themselves. Still believe we will bring another 5 or 6 players though and it is the quality of these players that will indicate how well we should do next season.

Define your interpretation of necessary

Define what you think the club's interpretation of necessary is

Mine is another 7 decent players required. Bridcutt, cover for Taylor, 2 central defenders, another striker, attacking midfielder or withdrawn striker.

Failure to acquire these players will result in mediocrity again. You can write it on the wall.

One more defender
One ball playing midfielder to replace mowatt
One really quick really quick player. Either wing or midfield to replace Dallas and the other idiots they bought last year
One goal scoring striker.
Job done
4 in nearlly covered by the amount we get for mowatt
Necessary defined!

03 Jul 2016 17:23:50
Aus, I think you may eat your words re Mowatt.
If Monk plays him in his correct position I think we will see him at his best again. After all it was only a year ago that his team mates and the majority of fans thought he was our best player.
As the saying goes, form is temporary, class is permanent.

Not sad to see Bellusci go, a disruptive player both on and off the field. Bartley as a replacement is ok, however slight concern regarding rumour that we wanted to sign permanently but did not have the funds (similar comment about Fletcher too) . I suspect that Taylor will be sold to provide funds for player recruitment. If that has to be then fine however the club need to sort it quickly to allow us to bring players in. With Palace signing Mandanda I feel there is an opportunity to sign McCarthy. Bridcutt is a player I would persue and I have always had a soft spot for Megugan at Sheff Wed. Although a bit Foresteri light he could fill a void. It is clear we probably won't get all the players we need it is important to note from the Euros that an organised team in both attack and defence can overcome sides with better quality players however you still need some quality to make the difference.

I think Bartley is a free agent after his loan finishes with us. Maybe they've discussed a deal in principle after the loan has expired. Appreciate he'll probably want more money but if we saved on a transfer fee and depending where we finish/ how he's played, we would surely be in the driving seat for his signature, once he's experienced a few helpings of pie n peas!

Agree with everything you say here Notts apart from Megugan. It's definitely a worry that we're looking at loans already. If Taylor goes we will have money but we have to look for another left back and we still have no cover at that position. Bridcutt is a must and we need players in quite a few other positions to get anywhere near top 6.

Agree0 Disagree1

02 Jul 2016 20:07:12
Don't disagree Deda but it is likely we will only get circa £5m for Taylor and that will only bring a few players in (assume wages will also come from that pot)

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jul 2016 22:15:21
Probably true Notts, but £5 million minus agents fees and tax is not going to buy an awful lot. As George states, those who have the cash are showing their hand and making themselves attractive to players. Then there's us. Cellino always bemoaning lack of funds. Players who have a choice will always go to teams who show ambition.
