looking at some players that have been released by premiership clubs and are available on a free, there is some real quality although their wages may be a stumbling block? ricardo fuller, danny guthrie, fitz hall etc does anyone think that we have a chance to sign any of them?

Small town Norwich now managerless, ex Leeds players must now wishin they'd hung about and not gone to a tin pot outfit

Believable9 Unbelievable4

Not wanting to start a shouting match here but Norwich are still in the prem' while we're going to stuck in the champ' for the forseeable future ... just saying.

Leeds will never move on whilst bates is there. He is a greedy old man with only his own interest at heart. No investment, no transfers, and the loss of key players to look forward to. Leeds are not a big club any more no matter what anyone says, we are a good championship side with a good past. To all the negative posts last wek about forest, they too are in the same boat, however they are willing to sell 100 percent of the club where as bates wont so if any take over is to happen it will be forest. Dirty leeds

Believable4 Unbelievable4

You may have missed this but forest are for sale because their owner died a couple of months ago. Whatever you think of bates he has turned us into a attractive investment opportunity, which was his aim all along, to show how we could be run at a profit.it all unwound a bit last year as his strategy floundered on the clubs inability to attract new players, and hold onto it's best players because of his tight control of wages.the two are fundamentally linked. I do think it needs one club to go to the wall for football supporters to wake up and realise that football clubs are not immune to the realities of life, that ultimately you can't spend more than you've got coming in. I hear Bolton owe £100 million to their owner..is that sustainable if they don't get back into the premiership, and how did they rack up those debts having been in the premiership for the last few years? I hope we do get investment obvisouly, but don't expect a massive injection of cash, for one new football league rules do not allow it.

Agree2 Disagree0

Not a true fan , leeds are still a massive club and always will be ,doesnt matter if we are in the championship

I live in the north east and work with a couple of n/castle season ticket holders, they reckon Guthrie is average at best, don't get too exited

Believable1 Unbelievable7

Average for them in premiership is good enough for us in the championship, he would do a job for us

Agree5 Disagree0

Of course he is, same as johnson and howson and the rest were when they left the mighty whites

Agree1 Disagree0

Johnson was s**t. I couldn't stop laughing when he left. How many starts for Norwich. Howson was good going forward but went missing too much. He could play ok behind the front two, but I doubt whether he would get into a lufc premiership team. {Ed013's Note - My opinion of Johnson grew when I saw him playing in his preferred position for Norwich. He has become a much better player}

Anyone slagging off Beckford has a short memory maybe you weren't there when Bristol got turned over by 10 man Leeds and Beckfords goal brought the loudest explosion I've ever heard inside Elland Road and for all the other goals he scored for us, I for one am eternally grateful he played in the White shirt and I AGAIN for one would welcome him back ...........last game against Leicester never heard an opposing team chant the name of the other sides player as we did that's how much he meant to us and how much we mean to him

Believable15 Unbelievable0

That game against Bristol was unreal. I travelled from Ireland to that game and it was an awesome atmosphere. Mot

Agree6 Disagree0

Short memory is right, what about a bloody great goal at the scum sh1t hole.
If comes back or not, they guy has given LUFC some great memories over a tough few years.

Agree5 Disagree0

He's inconsistent. he's either scoring important goals or he's a liability and dragging the rest of the team down. maybe his goals will outwiegh that but you have to admit he is far from the complete front man.

just sent a letter to mr warnock he usually replies when i send him one so i thought i would write a letter about alan smith's love for the club and that we should sign him up will post again when he replies

Believable3 Unbelievable14

I'll reply on his behalf, "NO".

Agree10 Disagree0

Idiot

Agree9 Disagree0

I would bring him back - as a youch coach/scout young kids would love him

Agree2 Disagree5

I sent a letter to santa last year, he also replied. But did I get 6 numbers on the lottery, did I nowt!

You might as well send the same letter to Stephen Warnock for all the good it'll do.

Howson on loan anyone, if new manager doesnt fancy him? {Ed013's Note - I doubt it very much, some of the top 8 teams are monitoring him}

Believable0 Unbelievable9

Don't be daft, I personally wouldn't have him back anyway, judas that jumped ship, wouldn't take him back even if we got promoted and he begged, equivalent to a dirty cheating ex, never ever take them back ha want players want to play for the club, unlike his "I'm Leeds through and through" rubbish, if he wanted to better his career then he can keep it better else where. Rant over lol

Agree6 Disagree8

Howson had chance to prove himself at the top level and took that chance good on him . hes a footballer who will probably finish his career before hes 35 so take as much money as possible . i would do the same if i thought i was good enough

Agree6 Disagree4

Not as daft as further down the page. James Milner (England International) on loan - in a similar deal to Bellamy - Cardiff/Man City deal two seasons ago. For me Murphy & Guthrie are certainly the type of players we should be looking at bringing in on a free.

dont want beckford back, he doesnt work hard enough.

Believable7 Unbelievable26

Idiot remark

Agree5 Disagree6

If beckford came back he would have to be sub if we keep mccormack

Agree4 Disagree10

Beckford might be lazy but he scores goals and that's the primary role of his job.

Agree12 Disagree0

I want to see better players at the club and as Howson and Beckford are better than what we currently have I'd take them both although getting Howson is unlikely. i am sure there is more to the Howson exit story than we know so try getting the facts before slagging him off.

Agree4 Disagree2

So howson posted his little sorry statement, ok he is a professional but he jumped ship at the first sniff, the club was in no financial trouble and it was all in his hand, if he was so Leeds through and though why not stay and help the club, he was captain and I'm pretty sure he would of been offered quite a decent amount of money to sign on, I don't want smith back but atleast he left for a reason of helping the club with money, beckford was lazy every single week but with a burst of pace and a good finish he did the job, I'm not sure how he would do back at Leeds, everyone would expect him to start with the form he left with getting 20-30 goals a season, not sure if he could live up to it,

Agree6 Disagree0

Like I said we don't know the full story about Howson's exit. From what Ben Parker said there is more to it than we know and one day we will find out.

Agree2 Disagree0

Parkers just sad he had to go and now we will see him in league 1.

Agree1 Disagree0

Parkers on his hols in Dubai, saw him at scumchester airport last week.

Agree1 Disagree0

I dont care how lazy a player is as long as he can find the back of the net on a regular basis, look at the great Henrie when at Arsenal he never chased a lost cause he saved him self for when it was needed, i would love to have Beckford back.

On a note not relating to takeovers...

Has everyone seen the released list from the Premier league?

http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11670/7790818/Released-players-revealed

Some good players on here who would fit in well at Elland Road, could be within our current wage structure as well.

Guthrie (Newcastle)
Wilbraham (Norwich)
Whitbread (Norwich)
Buzsaky (QPR)
Bodde (Swansea)
Mattock (West Brom)
Thomas (Wigan)
Kuszczak
Knight (Bolton)

MOT Macca72

Believable6 Unbelievable0

You could make a full promotion winning team, out of all the released players on offer. If wages arn't a problem then alot of these would choose us.

Zat Knight is atrocious, worse than O'Brien and Titus Bramble combined.

Believable7 Unbelievable0

I walked into the butchers this morning and asked the butcher if he had a pigs heads head? He relied, No, it's the way I comb my hair

{Ed013's Note -

Liverpool F.C deserve a manager of home grown pedigree, who has sung out loud about the town for 50 years and who has played in Europe over 100 times.

Manchester United have successfully renegotiated their contract with referee Howard Webb for next season.

Sir Alex Ferguson has said, "He's on a no win, no fee basis." {Ed013's Note - Haha I like it}

Im supprised nobody has mentioned that sammy clingan is leaving coventry on a free and also he's captaining NIR tonight

Source: Coventry Telegraph

AndyMack97 {Ed013's Note - They did when he was released weeks ago. If a comment is sent in over and over again I delete it as fans don't want to read the same thing constantly}

Believable6 Unbelievable0

Think the fans were bored with the smith rumours last season but they still make it through, wake me up at the start of the season please

Agree5 Disagree0

I'm with ed on the Clingan issue.
I think he's definitely on our radar and I have said so on quite a lot of occasions. However, whether he comes or not, it's still old news and Clingan deserves to be in the Clingan/Smith recycle bin.
jt-lufc {Ed013's Note - To the comment above, there is not just me on here and therefore some Smith rumours will get through}

Agree1 Disagree0

Hope you viewed the norn iron game clingon is awful we want quality he certainly isnt.

Agree4 Disagree0

Hazard was awful for Belgium but Chelski are paying a fortune for him so what's your point?

My point is clingon is pure s**** has been all season, but someone on here is obsessed with him !

If Grayson wants Lee Peltier at Huddersfield we should keep clear of him. SG's judgement of defenders is poor to say the least.

Believable11 Unbelievable3

You can't say that about grayson he never had the money to bring in quality defenders . we will see how good a manager grayson is this season . wait until may 2013 and huddersfield going up and waving bye to us if we dont get investment

Agree2 Disagree9

Mmmm..did you not see our goals against figure for the last two seasons. It tells you that he had no idea how to build a defence.

Agree9 Disagree0

Well I wouldn't go that far, took Hudds 3 seasons of playoffs to get up saying that took us a couple of times and a 2nd place by a hens hair

BREAKING NEWS - it turns out that fawaz al hasawi translates in English to Queen Elisabeth Regina. That's right, and to celebrate her jubilee she has bought Leeds United!! That means we will forever have endless money ploughed into the club with no debt accruing! And what's better, the uk tax payers will be funding us, that's right including every man utd, arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea etc fans!! Come on mr Cameron, time to increase tax?

haha

Believable7 Unbelievable2

Typical!
If it wasn't bad enough with sheikhs and Americans taking over the clubs, now the Germans are doing it.

ppl talking about signing beckford if thats the case then mcCormack should be sold. remember when beccio and beckford had like 50+ goals between them in one season. hopefully this takeover goes through so clayton and a few others can stay. i give it 3 seasons and leeds will be back in europe

Believable4 Unbelievable3

Europe lol do they still have the intertoto cup?

Agree2 Disagree1

Mccormack just got 19 goals in the championship season in which we ended up in the bottom half if we had finished in top 2 i would think mccormack could get double so why sell him. he can play on both wings aswell .
then we have beckford work rate = 1%
goal scoring = around 30 a season in league 1 while up in top 2 most of season.
my opinion mccormack is better than beckford and would like to see them together this season as beckford has pace and will change a game with it ,mccormack as the control and agility with a few skills to beat players and really works for his place ,if we sell him he will be hard to replace . i think keep him and build around him and snoddy this season if we get taken over.

Ladies and gents,

Just a quick reality check, and although I believe we will spend this summer don't think we should go mad, after all other teams spent big last year and didn't achieve much more than us. Just something to keep in mind!

Mark14

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Yeah I agree about not spending a lot on individual players but we need quite a few quality players so we're going to have to spend a bit to give Neil a half decent shot at it.

Agree2 Disagree1

What we need to do once the takeover is complete is give better contract offers to snoddy ,mccormack, clayton and maybe white and build around them . if we do this we will still have enough of a team that are used to each other unlike Leicester who brought in more than a full team which is why they didn't perform at there best . we will easy put in a challenge if we keep these players .

Would have been really funny last season if the players had to wear Virgin shirts. Especially considering the amount of times the defence was penetrated.
