Still have to say Wood is not producing.

Everyone else seems eager to get a goal themselves rather than passing to wood?

Long may that continue.

Wood 7 goals so far, Next top scorer is Bartley on 2 so as far as I'm concerned it isn't Wood letting the side down. Sacko, Antonsson and Roofe have all put in some good shifts but they all need to up their end product. Mowatt is capable of 10+ easily yet he has gone off the rails somehow, they either need to change something in his training or get him in with a sports psychologist to sort out his head. When these guys start to chip in then you can criticise Wood.

Leeds4alongtime, did you go to the game on Saturday? Wood put in a real shift and made a massive contribution to the team winning, he was quality! Plus he has scored 7 goals!
Not sure you know what ya talking about?

Don't wholly disagree with the posts guys but please don't quote 7 goals for Wood. Yes I know that's what the stats say but how many of these goals were penalties where he may not have been within 10 yards of the action?

Not saying he didn't put in a shift. Not saying he won't come good but it just frustrates me when penalties are included in anyones stats (especially if the penalty taker is a full back? )

Leodis it doesn't matter how he scores them as long as they go in. Would you rather we didn't win the penalties or have someone else take them? Credit where credit is due, Wood may need a handful of chances before he bags one but as long as he does, happy days. Maybe the wingers should put in more crosses so that Wood can up his strike rate?

As I originally said, Wood isn't the answer, and the number of penalties he has scored is very flattering?

He is being paid to score goals, not 'put in a shift'?

He looks very poor in front of goal one on one, almost as if he is looking for someone to pass to rather than score himself?

Sill really sorry to see Antenucci leave, he would go looking for the ball and try to score, not stand around waiting for someone to put it on his foot in front of goal?

I may not know what I am talking about, but then I'm not the one being paid thousands of pounds to score goals am I?

Penalties don't count anymore so.

Question lads. Who actually wanted to sign Roofe?
Im not saying he's a waste of cash as its a big jump from league 2 but I get the feeling he wasn't a Monk signing.

Corky, I think he's an investment signing and to be fair I would try him up front and see what's in his locker?

Stick him up top by himself Pete? don't think so mate.

I thought at the time that £3m was a lot for a Lg2 player. He definitely has skill but the jump was maybe too much too soon. If we bring in a winger or a forward in Jan I would be tempted to loan him out to a league 1 team for a month or two and see if he can get his shooting boots back, worked for Beckford and Soma.

he's a striker not a winger he could play in the number 10 but Hernandez has been good if our team could play 4 4 2 he would be banging em in he's just a square hole round peg atm shame .

Not sure he's good enough for number 10 role shaddit.
Maybe when Hernandez gets rested?

At the game yesterday and sat behind monk.
He clearly knows what he is doing!
At times we were too deep, he recognised this and was screaming at them to push up, it was the players who didn't follow the instructions! second half they were pushing up much higher. Half time talk obviously worked!
I really believe if we can keep sako, Bartley and Pontus we are only one high profile signing away from being a team challenging at the top!

A lot of fans made a hasty knee-jerky assessment of Monks abilities after the first couple of matches. He brought in a full new team worth of players, changed the shape, changed the philosophy and everyone expected instant results. Said at the start of the season that I would be taking any results up to this international break with a pinch of salt while we gelled and players adapted to what he wants.
If we bring it Bartley and Jansson (Not totally sold on Sacko yet, good skill but needs more end product) and can add someone to add 10-15 goals to the side I think Monk could definitely be the man to lead us up.

agree ben, good manager who understands modern football and the cut and thrust of the championship. he's eventually found the right system and his preferred team. also has decent replacements to tweak as and when. it's no coincidence to me that since we've found some real leaders in pilot, bartley and bridders (when fit! ) ther's been a big improvement. there will be blips along the way but we're on the right lines. mowatt's going to have to raise his game imo or he ain't going to get in this team any time soon, just hope he's watching and learning.

Lets hope he is a little more amenable to them this time round. hasn't looked his best so far this year but if monk can convince him to stay on and we can keep the good results flowing I think he will snap back to been the Taylor of last season pretty sharpish with all that off his back.

I know it's early days, and I know we are not a one man team, and I know he's only on loan, but I just wanted to say : Pleeeeeease sign Pontus up NOW. Do it today, and give him a LONG, LONG contract.

I think we have to turn the loans of both Pontus and Bartley into full transfers. The two have put together a good understanding already and could be the best pairing in the league by the end of the season if we can keep them both fit and on the pitch together. People keep talking about a marquee signing come January, tying these two down might not be that but could be more important.
That said, if Santa Cellino wanted to get us a 10+ goal winger and/ or attacking mid as a belated Christmas present in January I wouldn't complain too hard.

IIRC, Bartley's a free agent at the end of the season and the pilot is ours if he plays 20 games . please chaps, correct me if I'm wrong :)

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Oct 2016 23:55:55
AL, Although we do have to put in an offer for Pontus if he plays 20 games Mass Attack could just tell Monk not to play him after 19 if he doesn't want it to happen so just making it official whether at that landmark or not would make me feel a hell of a lot better. As for Bartley his contract runs till 2018 as far as I know (Transfermarkt says that also) but I reckon Swansea would let him go on the cheap (if not a free to free up wages) , has only played 16 times in 5 seasons for them can't see them holding out for big money on a surplus player so a bargain to be had maybe. If he carries form I would expect competition for him in the summer.

Thought phillips had a great game and playing out of position as well. Ait till he can get near goal got better shot than mowatt from long range. Onwards and upwards.
