Can anybody explain to me the difference between a long ball game and a forty yard pass ??????

Believable7 Unbelievable1

One is hit and hope, the other is a skill

Agree7 Disagree2

One is aimed at a team mate 40 yards away .. the other is just hit in the air 40 yards nearer the opponents goal

Agree5 Disagree0

Long ball game repeatably aimed at a striker like becchio and a 40 yard pass is a pass which covers 40 yards

Agree0 Disagree5

Ha Ha Ha ! Love it !
Depends on;
Who played it
What team they play for, and
What agenda the author has.
Stoke play long balls.
Barcelona play long passes.
Leeds play long balls if watched by the disaffected.
Leeds play long passes if watched by those who love Leeds.
ManU always play long balls.

Agree7 Disagree0

Nothing wrong with mixing it up and making the odd long ball or 40 yard pass. Our problem is that we only seem to have that one tactic right now. On Saturday we bypassed midfield completely and I can't understand why Blackburn found that so hard to deal with after taking us apart for half an hour.

I guess the relegated teams are not that used to teams playing that way against them. I worry that if we continue playing so one dimensionally all season we'll soon get get found out.

More rational supporters with a memory will recall how Yeboah scored a few great goals early doors one season but as soon as other teams sussed him he found it much harder and struggled a bit. If other teams work out how to cut off Becchio we'll be in trouble.

Agree0 Disagree0

Long ball is just a boot forwards in the general direction of the opponents goal, a 40 yard ball repeatedly hit at a striker is A direct ball a 40 yard pass can be hit in any direction ie cross field and is genrally to feet or into space for a player to run onto

Agree0 Disagree0

But wouldn't tou all agree he played a lot of long ball in the first half that's why Blackburn ripped us to pieces for 20 minutes as they just stepped in headed it clear and broke us down with 1 touch football.
Also if he don't start passing it around like in the second half we will get hammered as Blackburn could not cope with crosses at all.

Yes we did some great crosses but every one had them scrambling.

I think blackburn as a striking unit look fantastic but there defence is terrible.

Come on Leeds couple of passes/play makers in the team we will be fine.

Agree2 Disagree0

A long pass normally finds a team mate's feet, long ball there's a 50-50 aerial challenge, or it misses everyone.

Dear Mr. Bates.

Please turn on the television and watch Southampton playing. Not long ago they were a division below us. Now they're a division higher having leapfrogged us.

Watch how they pass the ball on the ground and move into space with pace and purpose.

That is how a team can play when you invest funds into the team rather than into an empty stadium, pointless corporate facilities which no businesses want, radio stations, bars and an expensive restaurant which might have done well in Ilkley but is simply out of place in that part of town.

Giving priority to investing in the team is why Southampton are in the premiership and we are not.

They may not hold on to their lead for the last 15 minutes, but they are playing the game how it should be played in the top tier of English football and more than holding their own against a team which, though it pains me to say it, is regarded as one of the most best and successful in the world.

If you cannot afford to invest yourself, or cannot resist investing in the wrong things, please step aside to make way for someone who can.

I wrote pretty much same thing other day. I think the article Ken on the ropes says it all there are three parties involved now the potential buyer Leeds united and Ken Bates he's on his own no allies no friends unfortunately it's his signature we need for the deal to go through not Leeds united Mr Bates knows he can walk away with close on £50m but he also wants indemnity against further potential debts against his name. He wants his cake and eat it. If he doesn't sign we face a financial crisis so here's the question will Bates het his own way or will we lose the buyer that could drastically change things at ER for the better

My opinion is the takeover is still on. As long as it is taking, if it wasn't going ahead, don't you think KB would step out and say it's not happening, then blame us fans for something? He'd definitely say it's not happening though just out of spite! He'd be laughing his beard off knowing we'd all be hating having him as chairman for any longer!

As for the team, I think we will do a lot better than last season, even if we do get injuries. We've got good young talent waiting to prove their worth! May not have experience, but definitely have the talent and determination to do well. MOT

Believable6 Unbelievable4

He will not come out and say the deals off. He knows if he did that, the ground will be even more empty. I hate the man but i love my club.
We need to do a march on ER, say 2 hours before kick off. That would give us plenty of time to get plenty of publicity. When roads come to a stand stil, with 20 thousand fans showing what they want.
BATES OUT, BATES OUT!!
mot4life

Agree4 Disagree2

Bates would be all over the tv/website/radio if deal broke down blaming the buyers he isn't daft he would pass the blame on straight away so I'm sure if it had broken down we would know about it.

If the investment group who are reportedly interested in buying Leeds United plan to sell ER and build a new stsdium else where would you be happy with this or would you prefer KB to keep us ta ER. Agree to stay at ER disagree to move to new stadium?

Believable12 Unbelievable24

Given that the club doesn't own the stadium isn't this a bit of a pointless question?

Agree3 Disagree0

Build a new stadium call it new ellend road and use some of the soil from ellend road pitch and I would be happy.

Agree5 Disagree0

I know it wouldn't be the same but tbh we'd still call it Elland Road and i'd do anything to be rid of the Chelsea parasite

Agree5 Disagree0

I would have hot needles in my eyes than keep KEN BATES

Agree5 Disagree0

Hi, good effort, read a post elsewhere and then put it up as your own on a new post, you saddo.

Agree5 Disagree0

I for one am a traditionalist. But in the name of progress it's time for change. Most other clubs have done this, so why not Leeds.

Agree3 Disagree1

What makes you think i am suggesting the earlier post is my own? I thought it was an interesting point and wondered what Leeds supporters would think, why do you have a problem with it? Why call me a derogetory name? It is a bit of harmless banter which is better than most of the sniping that goes on here.

Agree4 Disagree1

For the 2nd poster. Papa Smurf will own Erland Road one way or another! It will be under his wife's name or in the name of some offshore account in Caymen Islands!! Come on fella, he's got his fingers in a lot of pies! ! {Ed003's Note - allegedly}

Agree1 Disagree0

I say anything to get buyers onboard and that old tobacco beard out of are club. We need change ang if this is how its goin to happen im all for it.
Any thing is better than a till dipper.

Agree2 Disagree0

Just before we went bust with Risedale we had put in plans for a new stadium as even gormless Ruisdael new it was time for a new stadium.

I know the ground has tradition but it's to old now to small.with a new owner in place we could fill 60 000 a game wish means more revenue which means more money to buy players look at man u biggest stadium around and they spend millions even with there debt.

We could take the best bits of eland road and put them into the new stadium better transport links better parking all mod cons.

But first things first lets just get bates out then we can all start dreaming

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi, 01 Sep 2012 19:12:12,
where was it suggested the other post was your own? Have another read.
no more questions your Honour.

Agree1 Disagree0

I believe this says put it up as your own post "read a post elsewhere and then put it up as your own on a new post" maybe if you had some Honor you would accept your mistake, why do you insist on snide remarks towards other users on here, as i said my original post was just an interesting banter not an attack on anyone so why do you have a problem with it?

Can I just put the person straight who said a bid must have been received for the club to grant them due diligence your wrong, they must show the club they have proof of funds, then they carry out due diligence, once that's done they will decide whether or not to put a bid in depending on what the books say,so an apology would be nice.

Believable3 Unbelievable21

No you are wrong, there will be a price subject to , b and c, you then show proof of funds, you get maybe a week to check through skeleton documents, then you agreed price is right subject to due dilligance ( checking all documents, clarifying ownerships, deeds, etc etc) you then pay or re-negotiate price given any problems or items found that where not disclosed or you are unhappy about) so you should get your facts right no the poster! bought 10 companies in the past, most for more than £50 million o.w

Agree5 Disagree2

And the books will be discussed by Lusy shortly huh , hmmmm is this the connection, the reason for the hold up ? hmmmmm

Agree0 Disagree0

That's rubbish, a bid is always provided before DD. are you telling me you would instruct solicitors to sell your house without knowing the price someone has offered?
Yes after DD you might alter your offer based on what you found but an tibial offer would always be required!

Agree3 Disagree0

You might buy leeds for us so lol!
irish leeds fan!

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree you have to agree a price like when you buy a house then you look at the item you are buying then negotiate on what you find.

Or anyone with money could say look I have x amount of money show me your books .

Agree1 Disagree1

Buy leeds then if you have that money put it were your mouth is berty25

Agree3 Disagree0

Eddie gray said yesterday on air that he was not sure a bid had been received,so he also needs to get his facts right, and he should know a little more than you and I.

Agree0 Disagree2

If that's true regarding your previous buy out activity then why not throw your hat in the ring to purchase the club we could do with another bidder

Agree1 Disagree0

I doubt you have negotiated anything,is there a difference between agreeing a price and actually placing a firm offer or bid yes there is,so the original poster is correct,no one would put a bid in for a club without knowing the extent of its finances.

Agree2 Disagree1

If your agreeing a price then it's the same as putting a bid in as long as the books are what hey say they are if there not you pull out simples.

Some ppl on here don't know there born.

What about Stoke as a potential source of loan players in - Glenn Whelan and Jermaine Pennant fur example - Stoke have signed a whole new midfield in the window so players definitely won't make there 25?

Believable6 Unbelievable3

They will both make stoke 25 man squad especially with them been first team regulars

02 Sep 2012 09:05:46
if bates is still at leeds come january there will be no new signings without the sale of players like byram ,mccormack and becchio so bates needs to of gone way before then

Believable5 Unbelievable11

Why would we sell Becchio Mccormack to fund the purchase of new strikers? Do you actualy believe what you have just posted or are you just trying to annoy people?

So bates can line his already full pockets ......kevlufc

Transfer window closed and no icing on the cake players,No takeover,Striker crisis ? Diouf, McCormack,Becchio.keep these three fit sort out the defence we will be in the mix.Forget KB its all about LUFC.

Believable11 Unbelievable1

Well said, i do feel we need another quality CB but we do have 3 quality strikerswho can match any in this league, this is a completely new team that needs 10 games together to gel and i think we will be in the top 4 teams at the end of season.

can i just say what a game and mcormacks goal beauty! i hope we can play like this more well apart from the first half hour or so takeover or not we need to get behind them stop arguing between ourselves i know bates is tight with money but we are secure and hope we can get a couple of loan players and we should be top 6 easy

Neil Warnock is not only a good manager but a shrewd one too. I know TD day was bitterly disappointing, but in the next few weeks there will be good premier league players available for loan signings, maybe better than those we've been linked with recently and who have gone elsewhere.

Already he has built a team who don't throw in the towel even when 2-0 down. We all know it needs stengthening, but just have a little more faith in Neil, I'm sure he will identify and attract the kind of players he knows we need. I think he's done wonders so far and I trust him to improve the squad.

Remember, we've had tough fixtures so far and we've shown we can compete with the best (except Blackpool). I'm optimistic we can do well especially if we can get 3 good loanees. MOT Ron

Believable9 Unbelievable2

Why would a player who cannot get in a premier 25 squad be any good ? they are not as good as championship players.

Agree2 Disagree8

David Bently is a great player but he wont make spurs 25 man squad? neither will swp at qpr?

Cardiff away on the 14th, things just dont get any easier do they.
Bainesyboy

Believable7 Unbelievable5

I think we should be able to get a decent run from beginning of October until beginning of feb cant see us losing to many games from that period . just need to grab as many points until then

Agree5 Disagree2

No your right, Cardiff should be afraid. It's gonna be tough for them.

Agree7 Disagree2

I agree but if we have injuries suspensions do you think we would get the same results?

I don't we have no depth that really worries me.

Let's hope Mr Davide Somma is back on a Leeds bench very soon, he was class as a sub!

Believable17 Unbelievable0

To be fair if both Somma and Green are back in October, and we add say two decent loan players, we could have a squad on our hands.

Rhodes - Blackburn
Boothroyd - s wed
Templton - rangers
Hamill - dog botherers
Maynard - taffy Cardiff
Sharp - forest
Kane - Norwich
Montgomery - down under
Quinn - hull
Spearing - Bolton
All players rumoured on this site to be coming to Leeds.......hate bates, love Leeds

Believable7 Unbelievable9

Out of all that list only maynard did NW say he's attempted to bring in. The rest are unconfirmed conjecture....!

Agree8 Disagree0

There's only actually Maynard and Templeton I'd have wanted from that lot.

Agree4 Disagree2

Of those teams mentioned above that are in the Championship, I wouldn't be concerned if we have missed out on the players - with the exception of Forest. They have a dream ticket in Cox and Sharp up front. Brought in some other good players too. Don't be surprised if they are one of the main teams pushing for promotion we have to judge ourselves against. Btw: writing this hurts - I live in a village full of Florist fans and they're already flying their Kuwaiti flags!

well done snodgrass on todays performance, deserved his first goal.

Believable17 Unbelievable26

Not been funny but I don't care what a players goes on to do once they decide to leave leeds. It amazes me that people give ex players the time of day. Granted legends and cult heroes differ from this, but surely no one can class him as either of these!?

Who cares about him.
