No pub tonight so a little bored having to talk to the missus.
Question lads. If we could get back any player from last 5 years who would you choose?
I'd go for Snodgrass.

Max Gradel as he was. I'm not sure he will be the same after last seasons injury.

Schmeichel, Howson, Gradel. Don't think we had any prolific strikers (over that period) although Bechio and McCormack both had pretty good tally. There are probably more that I wouldn't want back - Barn Door Billy etc😂 Although some of the funniest shouts and chants were cause we've had our fair share of utter crap players - we have some guys in the stand who should be on the stage😂.

Has to be Mcbadgekisser. With our strongest first team him replacing Wood you'd have to fancy us for top 6 minimum.

I'd go for snodgrass too cork, best player we've had in years . He looks very good at the moment, no wonder they're calling him the Scottish figo.

In our current situation it has to be Tom Lees.

Firstly Corky, my condolences on having to miss a night in the pub. You're a braver man than me, having to sit and talk to the bread knife. Secondly, I would probably go for Snoddy, just ahead of the McFlytipper and the Scouse Pele (Scott Wootton) !

Mcflytipper is exactly what we need if he banged in 25 goals a season for us. Luciano Becchio is a free agent.

03 Sep 2016 09:19:41
How about a curve ball, Matt Smith? I'd have gone for McFly tipper but Smith would fit more into Monkeys system. Playing wing wide men, heading in the crosses, holding the ball up. I thought he was just getting into form when we sold him and was more sad to see him go than Mc Fly Tipper. Ant and Smith I believe would form a much better partnership than Ant and Wood.

Or maybe even Robbie Keane? He's got 1 more season at a lower level in him at least.

The Scouse Pele is out for the season. MK Dons are most unhappy but it could be a blessing not even in disguise.

Think it has to be McCormack, unfortunaely.

I have doubts about the Bournemouth lad. yes he's proven championship, but how many players have we signed that come with that label and have failed to deliver in front of upwards of 3x the amount of fans that they have played in front of? Dean court holds 11,500 peeps. ours holds shy of 40,000. so many have come and bottled it. Can't see this being different. Hope to be proved wrong and hope he holds the key to a top 10 by xmas and a few quality signing in Jan to push on to playoffs! Anyone agree or disagree?

02 Sep 2016 13:29:46
only time will tell I guess. ER may hold 40000 but we rarely get that these days and O'Kane will have played in some big games in the past. Hopefully he will turn out a bargain and he certainly has the experience (in getting promoted, not just playing in the Championship)

Positivity reigns, he is going to be awesome and all the fans will get behind him. We are one and we continue to grow. We wil be awesome after the break👍🏻.

02 Sep 2016 17:27:23
Personally think he should be good enough to do a job after all at least he has played in the championship.
Our recruitment in general over the last few seasons has been poor, we have signed far to many players who simply are not good enough or cannot cope with type of football played in this country .
I not saying we should go back to the days of burn't out prem players but players such as Bridcutt will cost a little more in wages .
It's like we want a first class post and pay for a second class stamp which is why we are mid -table .
Just look how many sides have taken prem youngsters or fringe players on loan again this year .

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Sep 2016 19:23:08
We have some very good players now, but lack balance, too light up front, too many midfielders, not enouh centre backs, with Wood leading the pack can't see us anymore than mid table again, nasty feeling sticking with Wood will cost Monk his job, an out and out striker would have given us more of a chance and appeased the fans, Becchio certainly ain't the answer, the so called press are already piling the pressure on Monk, hope he gets a good crack of the whip, unusually quiet at Elland Road as well, takeover loming perhaps?,

02 Sep 2016 20:08:26
I'll be honest I thought O'Kane was a pointless buy and might still be, BUT a mate pointed out a formation in which he might work out. 4-2-3-1. Bridcutt and O'Kane the two protecting the defence and let's face it, it needs protecting. The 3 in front could be a combination of either Roofe, Hernandez, Mowatt, Dallas, Phillips or Viera. We don't have a great deal up front, but I'd opt for Antonsson. Sakho and Wood are an option.

02 Sep 2016 20:55:38
I think we have some midfielders with goals in them. With more strength in depth I think the we have the flex to get more forward and break up opposition defence and cause more problems which I hope will lead to goals. Let's see what rolls out after the break but even after our shaky start I still have a really good feeling. Monk has now had a real opportunity to get this team knocked into shape. No excuses and I am not worried about losing a few, I just want the lads to put in a shift and provide the other teams something to think about. We have been too predictable and too easily broken down under the likes of BM and NR etc. I want us to be a force to be reckoned with an massively positive goal difference 🙄😜MOT.

Distin and Zayatte free agents at cb
Chamakh and Anichebe free agents strikers Has Robson Kanu got a club. Can still do business quite a few decent frees about.

Robson-kanu has gone to West Brom. As for the others - Anichebe's best return was 6 goals, Chamakh 7, in the English league (though Chamakh did manage more in France, that was a long time ago) . Doukara would outscore either and he isn't in the team because he doesn't score enough. Zayatte isn't any better than we have though I do think Distin would be worth a punt, maybe as a player/ coach role? despite his age. Looked good at Bournemouth last year and was arguably Evertons best player the season before.

Bang on Gummie

If any these were half reasonable they would have been snapped up and not available on frees. Now just journeymen looking for a final payday which is fine but not at Leeds.

Guess we should not get anyone on a free then if they are all going to be crap. Better off with no cover instead.

No game tomorrow so how about this as a thought of the day.

In 2001 Deloitte ranked us as the 5th richest football club in THE WORLD! in their football money list, ahead of teams such as Liverpool, Chelsea, Real Madrid + Barcelona (hard to believe but true my friends) .

The above is a fact as I looked it up.

As that is only 15 years ago I can understand why a lot of our fans feel such anger at our lack of investment recently.

Makes you think even more about the potential of this club (i. e. to be a better potential investment than most of the current PL sides, if only it was that simples! )

Believable0 Unbelievable0

02 Sep 2016 14:59:18
Good post DG and it makes you scratch your head to think why no-one has really seen that potential as far as investment goes. I'm not slagging Cellino off as he's having a go this year but there's some silly money being splashed around this season and I don't think the investment we've made as a club will get us promoted. Sorry but that's my honest opinion - really hope I'm wrong before anyone says I'm negative.

Haha George, I didn't think of that! I did, however, wait up all night for a major announcement and nothing's been said. So, I had a quick peep at Wikipedia this morning as it is the fountain of all knowledge - what appears there should be taken as Gospel. To my surprise under the 2016-2017 season there is a major statement regarding Taylor's future. Maybe Survivor was right all along. Maybe he does know Lucas Radebe. Maybe he did help broker the deal that brought Mr Cellino to Leeds and maybe Eleonora Cellino does have Jeff's love child. Actually, I made that last bit up, but he started it!

I enjoyed reading wiki on CT which accurately summarized Survivor inside knowledge but are you sure there wasn't a burning orphanage involved this time?

02 Sep 2016 12:40:23
Here are some tips for you Jeff. Try not to be too specific in future. Try to mention the word MIGHT. Don't nail down actual days, use broad terms like "in the near future". Never name actual players but be cryptic such as player will have an a in his name. That way something, sometime will happen and you will be proved right. I'm thinking you may not be on this site for sometime. My prophecy is as such, "Someone with an M in his name will have an alcoholic beverage in his hand and he has a broad smile on his face and this will be repeated over a substancial period".

good tips Deda they should prove much more clairvoyant than Survivors 'tips'. Something like 'shocking news about a Leeds transfer to be revealed before Armageddon' perhaps?

Deda, you freak me our bro. That's some serious talent you've got there! Georgie boy, I don't like to embellish the truth too much, so decided to leave the burning orphanage out this time. I only report the facts my friend!

Have a good weekend to all the Leeds Rumours family - top bants. Down those goddam pints and Up the Whites!

Who am I going to play football, wiff waff or go sailing with?
I'll have to go to visit Ausman down under. Where there's a down side there's always an up side. Winter in Oz, about 30 deg, Christmas on Bondi beach again, Sydney harbour on new years eve, I can't wait ;)

Ausman, misread George's post and thought I read jeff's been band, down side about Jeff leaving and upside of Oz. No downsides to Oz whatsoever.
I spent the winter months in Oz a number of years ago when I was out of work> UK was in the grip of the coldest winter on record and Sydney was 30-40deg, loved it. Absolutely gutted to come back when my redundancy ran out.
Cheap hostel in King Cross, about £5 per night called the Pink House Hostel!
