Should be an interesting clash of styles tomorrow. We will be playing fast and furious with crisp clean passes on the green and then pullis's lads will simply hoof it back over the top for us to start over again.
I hope that, not only for us, but for football fans across the globe, class wins out.

They might just kick us off the park. Which is our downfall no matter how well we play we can be pushed around. This was the Achilles heel last season.

Kiwi don’t underestimate Pullis’ style of football. His teams play to counteract his opponents but necessarily to play long balls. He’s a smart operator but hopefully Bielsa will have him.
Still I say 3-0!

I hope you are right Corky, but I think it might be a bit tougher than that. Hope we get off to a good start and really go for it. The earlier we get a goal, the sooner sides have to change their approach and that gives us more space to work in. I think it will be a cracking night.

I’m bricking it! Nervous about the game for sure.

Cork, I definitely don't understand the Pullis's. He kept a very ordinary Stike City in the premiership for a very long time. You can't achieve that without some nous. He knows well how to play his style of football. I just don't like it is all.

This Kiwi is nervous too. Picking a 2-1 win for us.

31 Aug 2018 05:47:24
My post should have said underestimate not understand. Stupid auto correct.
I have faith in Bielsa. We may field the same team and run the same tactics but Byb will have specific tweaks and plays worked out.
It will be a hard game, in many senses of the word, but we will prevail.

Kiwi _ where do you reside?

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Aug 2018 09:56:54
I will go with 2=1 to us as well. Back four will need to be alert tonight, wish Phillips had been rested for cup game but have faith in Bielsa.

31 Aug 2018 10:36:14
I’m going 3-1.
Gotta watch friend. Always has good game against us.
Put Pontus on him.
Think they will come at us tbh. Which will leave gaps.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Aug 2018 14:59:16
Got to start strong and fast. Can’t give them the first 20 minutes like we gave Norwich or they will punish us. Nervous but cautiously optimistic. 2-0. C’MON!

Agree, great to get a goal quickly, makes it a lot harder for them and creates more space for us.

Bring in Baath now and I'll be happy. We need cover at CB.

I agree Wex. Not only are we low on numbers in this area but with Beradi, even though he may play his heart out when called upon, we are low in the air This is a key function for CBs nowadays. As BW says, you can't teach height.

30 Aug 2018 21:12:49
I wouldn’t say no to Barth for bodies wise.
But he ain’t great imo.

Agree1 Disagree0

30 Aug 2018 22:16:46
Obviously nobody believes Bielsa when he says he doesn’t want a CB or Phil Hay when he says the club isn’t working on any other deals. But perhaps it’s all a clever bluff.

I think us fans know the championship better than Bielsa. We've been watching it long enough.

Too long, Wex, too long. I've grown old watching this league.

So Brown is finally in the building! Great signing. Now if we can only pull one more in to add some depth and cover, probably up front, then I think we can all be happy! On, on, on.

Agree Bright he is a good player. Another signing would be excellent, but a Centre Back for me.

Izzy B is a good player . Looked really impressive when I have seen him. A threat and makes things happen. Quality. Good run to January and should have funds in kitty to strengthen again. Get the best out of the players we have, get Bamford firing . Brown Saiz Hernandez Foreshaw Alioski Roofe Bamford Klich, its all about teamwork now.

Anyone else got the nervous jitters about tomorrow night? Feels like a huge game so early in season. Same team as v Norwich I would think. Quite excited about Izzy Brown coming although recent injury a worry. Still feel a CB would be a useful addition. Don't think it'll happen though.

Apparently some bloke called Braithwaite, who has scored 3 in last 5 for Boro has announced that he wants to leave, tomorrow. Pulis displeased, with good reason to be fair. Might unbalance e them a bit.

There's a whisper of Danny Batth going round, good signing IMHO if it happens.

AL, that would be immense if we could bring him in, loan only, or loan to buy, whatever! I'd take it! And yeah Scotsman, I have a twitchy ring already! Can't wait!

Saw Izzy Brown turn out for Brighton whilst on loan there was actually struggling for form at the time so they used him more as an impact sub, has good pace, strong and skilful and think he would be a great asset to the team.

Just read that he is unlikely to be fit until October, , but we are signing him anyhow, because we are unlikely to need to deploy him before then. Odd. Still no mention of strengthening at th e back. Odd.

The dog botherers are really pi55ed that he's coming to us, and we might actually pass each other at the end of the season!
Onwards and upwards mot.

From huddersfield my self and the amount of stick I got last season was stupid, not so much this time round though!
Still, it would just be sublime if they came down as we went up, and in style too and the more we rub their faces in it the better.

I hope the dogbotherers stay up so we can help send them down next season :)

Morning all.
Personally I’m not too worried about another centre back.
Someone like Bathh on loan would want game time. Will he get it? Could cause unrest. I think berardi has done well so far and we know he just wants to do what he can for lufc. He’d happily put out the corner flags and serve the half time tea if that’s what the manager wants, so creates a better team spirit and that goes a long way.
Forshaw back soon is great news.
Izzy Brown would be fantastic for us.
Unlike some on here I think we’ve had a good transfer window. We’re building a team and not a collection of expensive players.
Let’s see how we do against boring Boro and see where we are then.
Downing still playing? He’s older than me!

Agree2 Disagree0

30 Aug 2018 15:30:04
Totally agree too Yebo. Can't see many decent and available footballers wanting to come to Leeds at the moment as it looks like most would be benchmarking

Hopefully Biesla has a few months to sort out what he needs and who he wants.

I would love a big money, premier league quality, centre half in January. Possible one that has been overlooked by his high flying employer so is fresh and keen to get going. and hasn't got too many yellow cards to his name.

Not seen much of Izzy Brown ( if it is to be him) , sounds like a decent player if over his injury.
Slightly disappointed with transfers/ loans or lack of, but seems bielsa is happy with the squad he has. Really fancied getting foyth and having him, jansson and cooper as a back 3? To be fair beradi has played well but don't think we will be promoted with him as CB. Cooper also better than last season and hope he and Pontus can make a formidable partnership with ailing and Doug.
Think we are 3-4 players off a promotion winning side, would also have liked a defensive MF, but maybe Forshaw can slot in well on his return.
I noticed Foden wasn't on bench or in city's team at weekend, could it be him?
Lastly, would have liked another striker as sure that roofe will have a barren run, hope not and still not convinced with Bamford.
If we can stay in top 1-4 positions in league and if needed spend in Jan, time will tell. Friday's game is soooo big. MOT.

I thought Forshaw played very disciplined on the few times I saw him last season, so i am crossing my fingers that he can play that holding midfielder role when he is fit and Phillips needs to be rested

I don't think Phillips has been viewed as a defensive midfielder prior to this season. I seem to recall he was being pushed forward by previous managers and told to improve his goal tally. So i am impressed by the speed he is taking to his new role. Sure, he isn't "the new David Batty" but he seems to be getting to grips with the responsibilities. Hopefully Mr Biesla can work the same magic on Forshaw once he is back training with the first team.

30 Aug 2018 17:13:36
Love that post Axe! Kal has historically been an attacking midfielder, even as a junior, So to adapt to the role he is now playing to good effect, is quite an achievement. And I agree that Forshaw will be ideal in the same role, once he's back up to peed and fitness.

30 Aug 2018 08:19:07
Given all the debate around centre backs, we actually appear to have a choice for Friday! The need for height would suggest Cooper and Pontus together again, but he seems to really like Berardi in that position. Ill go for Pontus and Cooper but, Berardi and Pontus wouldn't surprise me!

Believable5 Unbelievable0

30 Aug 2018 08:27:53
Agreed, never thought how impressed i'd be this year by cooper but I'm actually looking forward to seeing him play, he's not done badly in the bigger games like stoke and derby, and that was alongside Berardi a makeshift cb. He seems to really rate Berardi which I can understand because he's got good distribution and is firm in the challenge, maybe that's all bielsa cares about from a centre half. think jansson will start even though it will be his 3rd 90 minutes in 6 days, but that's football and there's no point whinging. can't wait to see coops and pontus at the back, and I think the more they gel with BPF the better he will become as a keeper. douglas and ailing back thank god, two of my favourites in the team. need a big performance in the wings, as I think our wing backs will be fine. I imagine they'll play Braithwaite and downing on the wings, and their full back aren't great George friend is past it and Christie is championship at best, its in the middle of the park around clayton besic and howson that we need to be weary. Que Mateusz klich.

There are a few players which the jury is out on in our squad at the minute. who would you prefer, thumbs up for Paudie O'Connor, thumbs down for shaugnessy. I know Paudie is out on loan but I personally think he should have been kept. thoughts and reasons.

30 Aug 2018 07:56:36
I think it’s a good debate about what is best for the player, he’s is playing all the time for Blackpool and has virtually played as much time in the first team with them as he did whilst he was with us. So he’s got the chance of a full years competitive league one football vs Shaunessy, bench and sub appearances. OConnor is the more traditional CB and Shaunessy a bit more versatile as to Bielsas taste. It’ll be interesting to see how they are both rated by the year end.

In Bielsa we trust

Whatever he thinks is fine by me

If we keep the faith, long term, he could build something special.
