Where is forrsel? I think hes still a better striker than we have.

Believable5 Unbelievable1

Thought he didn't look up for it when he did get a chance as a sub - wandered around aimlessly. I know he hasn't had much of a chance but if he looks like that in training it's not surprising he's never been picked.

Anyone else on here thinks Tom Lees is very overrated, can't think what he is good at. Poor at heading, average speed, poor distribution. Kisnorbo, Odea and Bruce are all better than him

Believable4 Unbelievable5

Not go to games I take it? He's been our best defender this season

Agree2 Disagree1

Been to most games mate home and away, just think Lees doesn't do a lot, try and name his best point, he is very average

Agree3 Disagree1

He is still learning at this level. to be equal to Kisnorbo and O'Dea at this point in his career is a good thing.

Agree2 Disagree1

He can head, tackle, reads the game pretty well and he's the only centre back we have who can pass the ball now that O'Brien's taken his bat home. You might go to the games but if you think Lees is overrated then you're either going to them p*ssed or you just don't have a clue. Think you might be in a minority of one there mate.

Agree3 Disagree0

Yeah he is still learning but is not ready for championship football at this moment in time, should be loaned out again like last season and he will come on even more as a footballer

Another player linked with Leeds looks like going to wolves (frimpong) Know a few arsenal fans and they rate him very highly, why can't we just get a break with one if these hot talents, andros Townsend is in the same mold so guess we will miss out again c'mon papa give us something or someone to get excited about. Super Leeds

Believable5 Unbelievable0

Apparently Townsend IS coming.

Just like to tell you all I know that are highest paid player is Michael Brown on 16k per week. I know this because I am good friends with Howson and he told me personally. This is why Howson isn't signing a contract at the moment because he feels he deserves at least Browns contract and Bates isn't prepared to offer him it!

Believable3 Unbelievable5

Fair enough I say, howson has every right to complain, and if bates doesn't like it he can f off

Agree1 Disagree0

If that's true then I'm 100% with Howson. He's the team captain ffs.

Agree1 Disagree0

Spot on, Howson is the captain and has come through the ranks whilst Brown is a past it footballer who should get half of that salary

Agree1 Disagree0

Andy O'Brien is on 18k.

Simon Grayson to keep his job regardless what you deluded people say.

Believable10 Unbelievable7

30 Dec 2011 20:00:58
Grayson sat down with bates and identified targets in the summer.
Lost out on Jones, puncheon, bowyer, woodgate, stockdale, few others not worth mentioning.
Ones we tried for and couldn't do a deal, smith coz Newcastle wanted a hefty settlement, clingan coz coventry wanted too much, lichaj coz was injured, and in graysons words, a premiership international defender, the deal got called off because his club were meant to be signing a defender that would push him further down pecking order but it fell through.also another player we meant to have signed was a top quality player who would have put bums on seats (graysons words ) but apparently he joined a premier club.god knows who that was. Let the transfer hell commence.

Believable4 Unbelievable5

30 Dec 2011 18:16:06
Defo need a replacement for snoddy in january otherwise we are going to struggle

Believable4 Unbelievable4

30 Dec 2011 18:14:07
Not looking forward to game tomoz especially now snoddy is out he seems to be the only player capable of scoring if wasnt for his goals recently we would be well into bottom half of table

Believable4 Unbelievable6

Barnsley are nothing special. We can beat them without Snoddy. Goodness knows we owe them one. Let's send them nearer their rightful home in League One and get our season back on track.

leeds team for sat

1-lonners
2-connelly
3-white
5-gimple
4-o'dea
6-varynnen
7-sam
8-clayton
9-mccormack
10-becchio/forsell
11-nunez

nunez in the hole, ross on the left and sam on the right. i would give gimple a go as he is producing week in week out in the reserves and its always worth a punt.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

I'm excited by the prospect of gimpel in the future but i think its too soon to put him in its too much of a gamble and too much pressure on the kid

Agree3 Disagree1

Sometimes it works out throwing someone in the deep end and if the top prem clubs are tracking him then im sure he would swim rather than sink

Agree2 Disagree1

Ive watched him play and he isnt ready yet!

biggest problem i have with SG is that he likes to play his favourites no matter how terrible they are doing rather than people who perform when given the chance, nunez is the biggest example!

We cannot be too harsh on Grayson; yes he has made some dire decisions on signings but look at who he has also brought in
• Max Gradel
• Patrick Kisnorbo
• Andy Lonegran
• Adam Clayton
• Ramon Nunez (yet to prove himself granted)
• Ross McCormack
If Leeds were to really push for the premier league the following players should leave and be brought in
Leave or sell
1. Billie Paynter
2. Andy Obrien
3. Alex Bruce
4. Mikel Forrsel
5. Maik Taylor
6. Leigh Bromby
7. Andy Keogh
8. Darren O’Dea
9. Paul Rachubka
Buy
1. Jacob Butterfield
2. Keith Andrews
3. Jordan Rhodes (probably never happen)
4. Owen Hargreeves
5. Hermann Hreidarsson
6. Wes Morgan
7. Jordi Gomez (probably never happen)

Believable2 Unbelievable2

Forrsells not had a solid run in the team so think that ones a bit harsh, Rhodes is just another Paynter in my eyes, hargreaves will want too much money with his previous clubs being Munich, City, Scummers, and im not keen on Wigan players lol

Agree0 Disagree1

You forgot Parker on the leaving list.

Agree3 Disagree0

Paynter apparantly is going to brighton, o brien to either bristol city or west ham, bruce has been recalled so may be given a run at RB?, forsell hasn't been given a chance yet, taylor has been brought in so rachubka doesnt ever have to play again, bromby probably wont go but should in my opinion, keogh's loan will terminate but might be signed in the summer, odea will stay and maybe on a permanent and rachubka is at tranmere for another month at least

butterfield is barnsley's best player but i'd love to see him at leeds but i doubt it, andrews i think will come to leeds on loan til the summer, rhodes will cost too much money, we had our chance to get hargreaves in the summer but SG didnt wanna take a risk (muppet) but his wage demands will be too much

What has happened to our once glorious club? The answer boils down to idiotic spending when there is nothing tangible to back it up with.
Will we sign any players in January....... yes I think so but will they be of real quality I doubt it.
So...........What is Ken Bates up to you ask? Well I believe it’s a four year plan which we are currently 1 year into. It has been quoted several times by Mr Bates that before a promotion push to the premier league is to occur the club must be built on sturdy foundations to protect itself for the road ahead. That means no stupid money spent on transfers or wages which are not sustainable i.e. running us into the red.
Although we all cringe at the thought he is doing exactly what he did at Chelsea (in which he nearly caused them to go bankrupt), the guy does know what he’s doing. He is a business and where that differs from the average Joe Blogs Leeds supporter is that he is not blindsided by our past or where we think we should be now. Don’t get me wrong, he knows the club is a sleeping giant; it is currently the only major football club in Leeds which has the third highest population outside of London which means massive potential.
The Leeds United Board has received planning approval for 4 separate stages of work which include the construction of
• An extension to existing conference & exhibition centre (completed this year)
• A museum
• A shopping centre
• A 2 star hotel
• A 4 star hotel
• A nightclub
There are also plans approved for an Ice Rink to be built at a later date.
But why is he doing all this rubbish I hear you say, particularly on the East Stand and not the dilapidated West Stand? Again the answer boils down to cold hard cash. Before he can shift the toffs who pile allot of money into the club out of their current West Stand seats, there needs to be somewhere they can go which must be equally as good or better, hence the new boxes and seats built in the East Stand. So why stop there, when the rest of the development is complete it will provide another source of income other than just earning money on match days. These works are planned to be complete within the next three years with the exception of the Ice Rink. So then is this really a bad idea if it brings extra wedge into the club?
Let’s be honest we all want to see some investment in players but based on the summer transfer window there seems to be a fundamental issue preventing us from closing out the. Is it the fact our ambition to an potential player when asked is fighting it out in the play offs which no decent player wants to hear or their wage demands?

I cant wait to beat the Dingles tomorrow!

Heres the team

Lonegran

Connolly Kisnorbo Dea Pugh

Sam Valyren Clayton White

Mcormack Becchio

The team will dig out a result in the absence of Howson and Snoddy then all the Grayson Haters will go away for a while and give him chance to improve the team. Expect Andros Townsend before the Burnley game.

Keep the faith

MOT

Believable3 Unbelievable3

Possibly the best 11 we have at the moment, although think it's time to give Nunez a couple of games in the hole?! Unfortunately in place of Becchio going on recent form... Andros Townsend would be a good signing at the mo, but got a funny feeling SG will go back in for J.puncheon?

Agree1 Disagree1

The haters wont go away and we dont hate him we think hes done a fair job but he is now not up to the task of taking us forwards he has to go ,how many 5-0 s at home to bpool or 6-4 preston loosing to exeter hereford etc can you take ?his time is up even if we win a few which i doubt!

Just thought I'd point out that we actually playing the Dingles on the 2nd Jan and we are in fact playing Barnsley tomorrow.

all this talk of grayson getting sacked is ridiculous, alright at times he frustrates me, but who seriously out there wil do a better job, i still feel untill bates dips deep or another investor is found he will be a round abiout the play off team. i hope i am proved wrong but there are better teams in the league than us, so as much as it pains me to say it we are not good enough yet for the premiership, and im die hard leeds

respect to all for 2012

Believable5 Unbelievable2

A balanced opinion for a change - while trying to be as optimistic as you can there is an acceptance of where we are now!
I personally would like to jump to Billy Davies now but how he would relate to KB I do not know? GH

Agree0 Disagree4

Plus i think most leeds fans think hes an absolute (insert insulting swear word)

Agree1 Disagree1

Davies wouldn't last a year. He doesn't have a good record when it comes to getting on with his directors and I suspect KB is much more difficult than his previous chairmen. Decent manager - bad choice for LUFC with KB at the helm.

I would rate Ramon Nunez a quality player! It's no good for him sitting on the bench because he hasn't got enough time to shine! I hope Grayson doesn't resign Pugh till the end of the season because nunez is way better at going forward!

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Totally different players!

Agree3 Disagree0

He will get his chance now snoddy is out

Agree1 Disagree1

From what I've seen, and I've seen almost every minute he's played for us, Nunez is a luxury/impact player at best. Can't tackle, poor reader of the game, great when he has the ball but p*ss poor when he doesn't have it, and that's most of the time.

Pugh is solid and versatile. He can pass, tackle, cross and gets the odd goal. Knows when to go, when to stay and can play in 2 or 3 positions. He's had a bit of bad form the last 2 or 3 games but he's one of our most intelligent and useful squad players.

30 Dec 2011 10:40:58
Why do some fans have an obsession about ex players returning? Last season Kilgallon summed up how most professionals see it when he said that he had the chance to go back to Leeds but decided against it as going back to your old club comes with too much expectation. Looking through recent posts people have their rose-tinted specs on about Kilkenny and Beckford, and people do the same retired players for staff roles. In football the whole going back thing is regarded as a bad idea. So let's think of some new names as our next potential heroes, eh?

Believable5 Unbelievable0

Bring back paul robinson, ian harte, lucas, gary kelly lee bowyer and co

It's getting towards the time for all us Leeds fans to get frustrated again.
All you people saying we need this person or that person obviously have forgotten what it's like at this club during transfer periods.
We'll be told that we are close to signing somebody but nothing will materialise and bates will be mouthing off about greedy players or agents & SG will have to try and find half-decent players that nobody else wants.
This time last year we were told we would strengthen our squad and all kinds of names were been mentioned, with none coming to the club.
January Transfers 2011
Zac Thompson (Everton Reserves) one for the future but didn't exactly help the push last year.
David Gonzalez (Man City) Goalkeeper on loan
Need I Say More - Can't Wait

I think there's a chance of a decent loan or two judging by the noises coming from ER but I'm not holding my breath...

The 30-year-old former Manchester United trainee has gone on to make three appearances for Rovers and, despite finishing on the losing side on each occasion, Parry is keen to retain Rachubka's services as Fon Williams reaches the final stages of his rehabilitation.

I know he left but lets be realistic if someone offered uou a better job with more money would you take it,obviously, Yes jermaine beckford was lazy, his touch was terrible at times, he frustrated me every single week strolling around the pitch doing nothing just waiting minute after minute, but how many times when we need that goal badly and he just popped up from nowhere with a burst of usain bolt and a belter of a finish, realistically I didn't think 9 goals for everton wasn't bad either to say 70% of his appearances were as sub, compared to other mid table prem stickers that isn't a bad step up from league 1, it annoys me when ppl mention ex players but I'd take him backin a flash, it's proven that he works well in Simons system, I'm sure he'd do better than what we have now coz no goals coming from up from now Ross has faded away abit could do wit more fire power,so would it be silly to put a offer in for a proven player to the club? but that's just my opinion

Believable4 Unbelievable2

I agree, I'd take Jermaine Back as he really was a good finisher. Perhaps due to his free scoring abilities our expectation of how many goals a striker gets has become too high. 10 from McCormack is a decent tally, but he missed about 10 sitters that Jermaine would have gobbled up. Its just the difference between average and good finishing. McCormacks link up play and work ethic though is faultless.
We wouldn't have been promoted if he hadn't made it 2-1 against Bristol Rovers. He technically won us promotion if his final club goal (and we beat the scum due to his goal).
